Lovett, Texas #1.5

Crazy on You

Rate this book
Return to Lovett, Texas, the setting of Daisy's Back in Town, in this smart and sexy new story from Rachel Gibson, the New York Times bestselling author of Rescue Me and the Seattle Chinooks books.

Lily Darlington's been called crazy in her day-and, yeah, driving her car into her ex-husband's living room probably wasn't the smartest move ever made-but the louse deserved it. Now Lily is happily single, and she's turned it all around. She knows she's a good mom, a homeowner, and a businesswoman, all wrapped up in one good-looking package.

A package that police officer Tucker Matthews is dying to unwrap. This ex-military man sure doesn't need another woman in his life. His last girlfriend left him with nothing but memories and a cat named Pinky! But living next door to Lily has been driving him nuts. He dreams about her long blonde hair and even longer legs. And maybe it's time to go a little crazy . . . and fall in love.

4 stars – Contemporary Romance Novella

Cute read and I loved the hero! I mean seriously...A hot, sweet deputy ex-Army soldier who’s confident enough in his masculinity and innate, rugged sexuality to lavish affectionate attention on a clingy, purring black cat named Pinky and make her a kitty condo, teach his neighbor’s insecure son how to shoot hoops in the driveway, and be honest and open about his feelings toward an older heroine? Yowza and yes, please!

Good to return to Lovett, Texas and catch up with Daisy's younger sister, "Crazy" Lily. Nothing crazy about the 38 year old single mom these days. She owns her own home now, drives a new Jeep, and owns her own business. Still bugged by her ex, Ronnie, who still hasn't grown up and taken on the responsibilities of fatherhood to their 10 year old son, Pippen. There's a new Deputy in town named Tucker and he's 8 years younger than Lily. She doesn't want to be the center of the gossip mill again by being tagged as a cougar. But Tucker is very persuasive. Lots of fun, witty dialogue, and sizzle -- just what you expect from Rachel Gibson. This one is a novella so there's not much room for depth or development. Still yet, a fun read all the way around.

Not a huge fan of short stories, but love this author. This really was a complete story in few pages. It didn't seem rushed and I was sorry to see it end. My original 4 Star rating stands.

I love Rachel's Texas books. She does such a good job of capturing the uniqueness of the people in smalltown TX. They really are into each others business and you won't really find ugly Texans. Not sure why, but few are butt-ugly. The honky tonks, been there, the music, hear it in my ears. All the teen hijinks, yep. Like she was raised a redneck, she does it so well.

This was a short and I didn't know it until I sat down to read. I was hoping my Nook had page numbering issues; sometimes the case. Nope, it really was short. With a bit more, it would have had more stars from me. I really liked the romance and the backstory of each person.

Can't wait for another Texas installment.

I recommend any of Rachel Gibson's book. I've read all but a few now and have not hit a bad one yet .. and can say this now because after this many, I'm not afraid of a jinx!

Happy Reading!

Tucker Matthews has moved to Lovett, Texas, to begin a new job. When he buys a house in a nice neighborhood, he meets his new neighbor Lily Darlington. He finds he can't keep his mind off of her. Lily has been trying to live down a reputation for being crazy after running her car into her ex-husband's house several years ago. Lily doesn't want a relationship, especially with a younger man. And since she has a young son, she doesn't want people gossiping about her. But it’s getting harder and harder to resist Tucker.

This was a short story which was light on plot. Tucker and Lily meet and are immediate infatuated with each other. They start a secret relationship which he doesn't want to hide from others. She is afraid people with gossip. I was bored with this story. My rating: 2 Stars.

Crazy Lily has a reputation she has spent 10 years trying to live down in a town like Lovett, TX and the last thing she need is an off the charts attraction to Deputy Tucker, who is 10 years younger than her. I loved this sweet story of a woman trying to live down her reputation in a small town where it is almost impossible to change the opinions of the people who live there.

Lily Darlington is a good mom, a homeowner and successful businesswoman. She has worked hard to live down an incident from years ago and doesn't need the attentions of a man 10 years her junior to mess up her hard won new reputation. But, God have mercy, he is one good looking, sweet, respectful and hot package.

Tucker Matthews is the new Deputy in Lovett, TX and his next door neighbor is hot and a great mother. He wants nothing more than to get to know his new neighbor and I do mean in the Biblical sense. He wants nothing to do with him, in public anyway. He is just going to have to work on her, because she is driving him crazy.

I'm bouncing back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. Such a hard decision to make sometimes!

I've always had a love/hate relationship with Rachel Gibson's books, but this one was cute. Too bad it wasn't a full length novel - I would have enjoyed a little more character development.

I loved the storyline. Loved Tucker. Loved Lily and the fun glimpses into her past. Even liked her kid, although I'm not a big fan of kids in romance novels.

My issue is with the weird descriptions and play-by-play the author tends to write in her books. For instance, the heroine "moved" through the living room to place her purse on the kitchen counter. Then the heroine "moved" through the garage to push the button to close the garage door. This chick rarely walked, ran or sauntered; she mooooooved! It felt like unnecessary filler and eventually bugged the heck out of me. Hence the reason why I'm wavering on my rating.

I *did* enjoy reading the first chapter of Sadie's story. RG always writes a good, solid beginning to her books and Sadie's story looks promising. *fingers crossed*

This was just meh for me. I love Rachel Gibson, so I give her lattitudes I wouldn' give other authors. I do enjoy novellas and Iknow what to expect when reading one. However, I honestly felt like I missed a chapter or two in this book. TO the point that I went back to check when I was done!

Both the H and h are great, likeable characters. I would have rooted for them regardless. But the pacing was off and left me scratching my head. Instead of a fast-tracked romance, as you often find in a novella, it was like reading someone's review of a really fun romance. All the good parts were missing and you wanted to ask questions about how it all happened!

RG is still an autobuy for me, but I'd probably skip any future novellas from her.

**also, please excuse any typos. My keyboard is acting wonky

Lily has a reputation. The town's folk of Lovett, Texas still refer to her as Crazy Lily even though she walked away from her wild days of partying many years earlier. When a new Sheriff's Deputy arrives in town they are immediately attracted to each other, but she is worried that if they have a relationship it will cause problems for her 10 year old son.

Crazy on You is a short and cute novella you could knock over in a couple of hours. It's an easy and entertaining book but felt a little rushed. Then again, at 75 pages, blink and you'll miss it.

This one goes after Daisy's Back in Town.
This was too short to really tell a complete story. It was cute though. I wish it was a full-length novel! I need some more Rachel Gibson books!

Rachel Gibson is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite authors and the main reason why my blog isn't YA only. When I first started to get into reading again 5 years ago, the first book I read was Rachel Gibson's Truly, Madly Yours. From then on, I knew that Rachel would be on my MUST-read list and I rediscovered my love for books. To this day, Truly, Madly Yours is still my favorite book of all time. I've read it 7 times so far and it seems like it gets better each time!

I'm always hounding Amazon and Goodreads to see what books she has coming out next. I was ecstatic when I found out that Rachel was going to release an e-book novella and re-vist Lily, one of the memorable character's in one of her older books-Daisy's Back In Town. Who could forget Lily Darlington who was a little unstable and ran her car into her ex (that rat bastard!) Ronnie's living room. Years later, Lily is not so crazy anymore. She is a single mother, raising her 10-year old son Pippen and she has her own successful spa company. But no matter how much she has changed, people in Lovett can't seem to forget or stop talking about Lily and her wild past.

On her way home, Lily ends up being pulled over by deputy Tucker Matthews for speeding. Tucker is immediately drawn to Lily, her sharp and witty attitude and her curvy body. Turns out Tucker is also Lily's new neighbor. When Tucker and her son start bonding over basketball, Tucker is more attracted to Lily once he realizes how much she loves her son, which is a big deal to someone like him who was raised in the foster care system. He makes it clear to Lily that he is attracted to her, and when it comes to him, Lily can't seem to keep her distance. After some hot and steamy hookups, Tucker makes it clear to Lily that he wants a real relationship. But Lily is scared and wants to keep their relationship a secret. Will she be able to trust her heart and let herself fall crazy in love with Tucker?

Rachel Gibson writes romance books like no other! I would honestly read anything that she writes. Which each new book that comes out, Rachel's writing gets a little more hot and bolder which I have no problem with. Even though I have read every single book by her, every story is unique and special and never repetitive. I also LOVE that she somehow finds a way to weave her old and new characters together. In this story, we briefly meet Sadie Hollowell, who is the lead in her next full-length novel-Rescue Me-and Vince Haven, who was Autumn's brother in Any Man of Mine. I can't wait to read more about them in Rescue Me and I hope that she keeps writing more novellas. Crazy On You is a short but HOT novella, definitely left me craving for more!

4.5 out of 5 sparkly stars!

Some of my favorite non-spoiler quotes from Crazy On You:

-Holy Jesus. He was having crazy sex dreams and lusting after a crazy woman. A woman who'd possibly tried to kill her ex by running her car into his house and had almost been locked up on a 5150 hold. That piece of info should be enough to shrivel his nuts, but it didn't.

-His hands slid to her back, his fingers brushing her bare skin above her tank top. This had to stop, but she didn’t want it to. Not now. Now she wanted more. This was crazy. She was crazy. As crazy as everyone said. Crazy Lily lusting after her neighbor and she didn’t seem to care. He’d ignited something in her she hadn’t felt in a long time. Crazy, consuming lust.

-She took a deep breath and let it out, checking herself. She felt okay. Still not feeling crazy. Okay, maybe a tiny bit, but not enough to drive her car through someone's house crazy. That was crazy. Destructive crazy, and she wasn't that Lily anymore.

I know when I read Gibson's books I am getting a light-hearted, quick read with quirky characters, fun antics, and lots of laughs. For me, this book just didn't deliver.

Lily worked hard to ditch the title "Crazy Lily" which she earned back in high school. That title followed her in her married years until she finally came to the realization that she was better off without the jerk husband that left her penniless with a 2 year old to take care of. She worked hard to build up to owning her own salon/spa and becoming "respectable".

On her way home from the salon one night, she gets pulled over by a good-looking deputy who seems to know a lot about her. He's young, but boy, is he "hot". Of course, it turns out that the deputy is her new next door neighbor and by the 4th chapter and about that many days as well, they are in love. Very predictable, right? I have to say that the steamy sex scenes were almost too much, but that's because for me, there was no other substance to the plot.

I missed the laughs and the funny scrapes that Gibson's southern gals usually get into and I missed the subtle dance that leads up to "boy gets girl". I just felt that the story was written in a hurry and that prevented any depth of plot or creativity in the storyline. Sigh.

This was just ok. The short page count didn't allow much for character or relationship development. While Lily was fairly well fleshed out (maybe because she was introduced in Daisy's back in town), we didn't learn enough about Tucker. That he went from "hmm, Lily might be crazy but hot" to "i want everything with you" after one conversation didn't make sense.

I did laugh a couple times and I thought it was sweet how both Tucker and Lily dealt with Pippen. If there hadn't been a declaration of love 5 days in, I think I'd have enjoyed it more.

Adorei!
O romance é fofo e bem sensual. Sem contar que a Lily é super engraçada!
Gostei muito

I know i've said before, you can't go wrong with a Rachel Gibson book. Well this one was no exception. It is a continued series book of Lovette Tx. Someone new is brought into the area. Crazy Lily isn't crazy anymore. Her sister is still happily married. Her mother still talks nonstop about people and places no one knows. But Lily did buy a home right beside her mothers. She now owns and operates a 'spa'. Has her cosmotology license, and is running in the black. Its' been a long hard road. Now enter the new neighbor. He works for the sherrif's dept in Lovette, and is 30 years old. Much to young for Lily. But is it?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from Gibson. She brings it all to the table when she writes. For anyone that hasn't read her books, give her a chance. You won't be sorry. 5 stars.

It was nice to see crazy Lily not so crazy with this book. I also loved seeing Pippen more grown up and normal. For some reason I saw him being more like the crazy Lily.

Tucker was interesting right from the start. I loved how he was smitten with Lily from the start and went for it. He sure didn't give Lily much chance to think too hard about things with them. I loved that he talked straight to Lily about what he wanted from her. I was surprised that she was so gun shy, but happy to see her change her mind. I even loved seeing the crazy Lily pop in for a minute!

I didn't much care for this. I liked the characters and their personal 'demons" but I didn't feel like it played out well. If felt more like a book from ellora's cave or one of the other more erotic publishers. It felt a bit like Gibson was trying too hard to be 'sexy-hip' or something.

Bit disappointing.

I so enjoyed this one... But then Rachel Gibson Books are always enjoyable. Loved Crazy Lily Darlington and her young cop hunk neighbor. Found myself rooting for her and especially for him throughout the book. And identifying with her crazy... I woulda been crazy if my husband did what hers did...

Good quick read (under 100 pages on my NOOK). It could have been a little longer because as a result of the less than 100 pages I didn't get as connected with the characters as I would have liked. They had great potential!

I loved this little story of Daisy's sister, crazy Lily! LOL

She's a good mother, very protective of her son and she and her boy deserve a good man.

Short but good.
