Another story where the MCs were separated for long from lack of communication. Actually, one tried to communicate but the other simply ignored him completely. Not rejected or avoided, but simply treated the other one as if he didn't exist.
Andrew and Eric were childhood friends turned lovers in their teens. When Eric left for college in another city, he cut off all communications from Andrew as if Andrew never existed. This happened for many years, despite Andrew's efforts to contact Eric.
I didn't enjoy this short story. The main characters are not likable, neither are the supporting characters. The only redeemable quality perhaps it's a slightly longer than <3 V's Day stories.
I know that this is published by <3 Press, which means by default its initial ratings are 5 stars since the publisher staff and their mothers give any book from them 5 stars --sometimes months prior to the publication date. Without that practice, this book's ratings would have been much lower.

This short story combined both one of my favorite and one of my pet peeves in the romance genre. I am such a fan of friends to lovers stories. I love when people actually get past their misconceptions and miscommunication and manage to be true to each other. That being said, there must be some actual communication going on, a story behind them getting together. The “you hurt me terribly and ruined my life but okay lets kiss”, just doesn’t work for me. Unfortunately, this story has both.
I loved the beginning. It tells the story of Andrew and Eric, who met in kindergarten, instant best friends who stayed together after Eric came out to Andrew, best friends until they were nineteen, when Eric gave him “a kiss and a phone number he never answered and left Andrew devastated”. Awesome start.
Unfortunately, that is the best part. Andrew is working as a cook in a restaurant and who walks in one day? None other than Eric. The fact that it has been FIVE YEARS since Andrew heard one word from Eric, and Eric has the gall to be confused when Andrew doesn’t dance with joy at seeing him? He acts surprised, hurt, uncertain when he isn’t welcomed happily back? Disliked Eric already. And for me, this is where the story falls apart. Eric really DID expect to waltz back in after four/five years of ZERO COMMUNICATION, unanswered calls, emails, letters, and just pick up where he left off. His reasoning was awful and insulting to Andrew, and it felt like a way to rush the ending.

Liked the story for most of it, but not the ending. I'm sorry but I would not have forgiven the guy that fast. Sheesh no contact for 5 years and no real explanation? I wouldn't forgive him that easy.

Started out well but I feel that Andrew forgave to easily and too quickly. Eric really treated him horribly and should have had to do a lot of groveling.
