Book 1 in the Erector Set series.Who can resist a pint-sized female with luscious curves stranded in a parking lot? Not Josh McMann. It’s his pleasure to save Ness Bowen, especially given the instant sensual chemistry that explodes between them. When she wrecks her car on the way to meet him for dinner, he saves her once again. And dinner at home takes on a whole new meaning as the sexual pull becomes too strong for either to ignore. The more they see each other, the more intense and erotic the sex becomes. But Ness sees Josh as a player, and she’s been dumped by men like him who were always looking for the next conquest. Josh has his own trust issues, having been burned by women interested only in his money and power. When a breakfast date goes awry and Ness thinks she’s been dumped once again, it takes a lot of fancy maneuvering from Josh to make amends.

Full Review on my blog! *a copy was provided via Netgalley* Erected by Desiree Holt is a captivating and fun erotic romance. It’s well-written and the characters stole my heart. Ness & Josh seem like normal average people that you might know in real life, BUT they have each had a string of bad relationships and have decided to close themselves off so they won’t get hurt again…
A very quick read, with a ton of hot, hot sex! I love the emotional connection between the characters. they are strong willed and explosive when they come together. There were moments of laughter and anguish, but all-in-all it’s a story about finding love and holding on to it. I wish it was longer! I can’t wait to read more from this author~
When you want a romance that will singe your fingers, Erected is the book for you! I highly recommend it!
4.5 stars Thinking her brand new car has been stolen, Ness runs into Josh, in a panic, trying to find her beloved BMW. Knight in shining armor he is, he helps the shrill, off-kilter, whiney woman. Something pulls him to her; he's not quite sure what though.
This book is a calamity of errors for poor Ness. What can go wrong, will and does. And around every turn, her knight is there to pick her up and take care of her...in every way possible.
Ms. Holt has a way of pulling you into a story and make you want more. These two characters are POLAR opposite and to see them come together is comical. However, it is also BEYOND hot!! The chemistry between them is off the charts from the beginning and seeing them combust is oh so sweet. I love that this is the beginning of a series and I can see more to come!
Review For: Erected Desiree Holt Erected Desiree Holt is book One in the "Erector" series. This is the story of Josh McMann and Vanessa 'Ness' Bowen. Ness and Josh both have trust issue and have been burned badly by other relationships. Ness starts off pretty upsetting and shrieking when we and Josh first meet her. It seems Ness has been through a trying few days and now she thinks her car has been stolen. Josh who comes forward to help her but Ness still acts harshly to him. But they are attracted to each other and have to work to build trust between the two of them. Overall a good story and would read more from this author. https://twitter.com/soapsrus68https://www.facebook.com/RomanceBookR...https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...

This was a pretty good quick short read. Ness Bowen has had it with men. All they see is a corporate bigwig and they think her endgame is the same as theirs hot, wild, no strings attached sex. After all why would such a strong independent woman want more then that she has had it with arrogant self serving men. She would rather go without then deal with men like that anymore. Josh McMann tall, gorgeous, rich and fun he believes all women ever see is his pretty face and especially his thick wallet. He's forever the gentleman and ever one to help those in need. He keeps an emotional distance from the women he dates. Getting hurt once was enough for him. These two damaged souls have just been thrown together and their mutual attraction is too hot to ignore. After weeks of half truths and holding back, can these two break down the walls of their pasts. The past is sometimes hard to overcome and the road is not always an easy one not for these two. This was my first time reading this author this book had pretty good sex scenes. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
If I had to base my review on the last third of the book, it would be 4 stars, but the first third would be one star, and the middle was okay
Vanessa meets Josh when she thinks her car is stolen, she is mean and abrasive to those around her, and I hated her in that moment. She wasn't acting overwrought, she was mean to people for no reason. She is short with Josh, but not mean, and he stops her from being even more crazy than she is. She continues to be mean to him, for no reason, and it doesn't feel like a defense mechanism, it doesn't feel nice. He keeps at her, and wins her over. She drops her guard, and while he doesn't show any sign of it, apparently he has some issues as well
He keeps trying, she starts trying, and things work out with them, but both are waiting for the other to screw things up. Their attraction to each other is strong, and it takes over at times they should be talking. Next thing we get, they are six weeks into a relationship
His brother is a dick to her, and he finally admits his deep seeded problem, and then she admits hers. I like her by this point, but am kind of sketchy on him. If this problem bothered him so much, he never showed it to her. They almost lose it all, and then pull it all together. They work together, and are perfect for each other
I stuck with the story, but putting up with Vanessa at the beginning was hard. Luckily she rectifies herself, and comes across as hurt, rather than evil
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest review.
DNF 36%
Nope. Nope. Nope.
I try very hard not to DNF ARC books, since the whole point is to review a book, but nope.
The guy has been creepy from the beginning, but I thought, maybe it's me. Wow, she said no thanks. I can deal, but his hero issue says he takes her to the spot she needs to go to get her car anyway. Sure, I'll pretend that that's being a white knight. Kind of bully her into a date? Um... okay. I'm never one to shy from bullies.
She's in an accident and you want to help by taking her home? Um... okay. And take her inside? Uh... okay. She did have a broken foot. Um... ordered food so she could feel better (Yes, I'm not getting bully vibes. I'm getting roofie vibes at this point). Alright... Tuck her into bed? WTF? IS THERE ALL NIGHT LONG?? BRINGS HER TO ORGASM FOR HER COMFORT WHILE SHE'S UNCONCIOUS? That's not giving a massage, that's sexual assault!
*looks at the blurb* It says erotica, but not dark. It's supposed to be hot but romantic, again. Not dark.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is an enjoyable novella with a great mix of passion, humour and insecurity. Interesting the insecurity is on both sides regarding the genuineness of the other, which makes for some amusing and awkward encounters. Luckily they believe that there may be more than just a passing fascination with each other and take the time to work through their issues - which makes for a good story. I love the walking cast element which forced them to be creative, I could just imagine it!
I am looking forward to the next book in the series, and hopefully we will get a bit of a catch up on this fun couple too.
I'll start by saying I'm not sure how I missed Erected by Desiree Holt before, but I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. I liked the dynamic between the three brothers, Josh, Tyler, and Alex. The way they look out for each other is believable.
I enjoyed that Vanessa isn't waiting for her Knight in Shining Armor though she secretly wishes one appears soon and sweeps her off her feet. She has trust issues and so does Josh, but they each have valid reasons for not wanting to give too much too soon. They've been burned before, and if whatever is going on between them doesn't pan out, the less romantically invested they are, the better it will be--or so they think.
Needless to say, they find a way to work out the challenges they face and accept that in order to move forward they have to learn to trust each other.
There were a few things I found repetitive and not necessary, such as every time Vanessa reminds herself she's a VP of Marketing at a top firm and needs to act the part with Josh. As a reader, I knew this from the get-go, so I didn't feel I needed to be reminded throughout the story. The same goes for Josh and his bit of history with Jiliane.
Overall, this was a fun, short read and like I said, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
Aside from the cover and the title, this was surprisingly an enjoyable read. Cute story, characters with some hangups and bonus couple of hot sex scenes.
I voluntarily read this book provided via NetGalley for a fair and honest review. Vanessa (Ness) Bowen may not have made the best first impression on Josh McCann. Screeching her car had been stolen while trying to make her way around in a walking cast Josh’s first impression of her was he knew how to handle crazy. Apparently, Ness might have forgotten forgotten to display her temporary handicapped parking permit and her care may have been towed to an towing yard. Josh had just closed another deal for he and his brother’s construction business when he heard Vanessa’s cry for help. To put it mildly, Vanessa is less than gracious to Josh even though he is giving her a ride to retrieve her towed car. Because of one too many failed relationships, this female executive’s social skills can use some work. She does, however, ask Josh to dinner to thank him for coming to her aid. Vanessa made sure Josh understood this was a business dinner not a cozy dinner for two. She was off men for the time being. On the way to the restaurant Vanessa is involved in a car accident...another one...the previous car accident is why she is currently sporting a cast. Vanessa is one of the most prickly heroines I’ve come across and Josh needed the patience of a saint. Fast read, good story, heroine from hell.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review of this book.
Loved the chemistry between the two and loved the authors writing style! One of the easiest reads that I've had in awhile. A few typos, which frustrates me for any book, but seems to be the norm for digital books these days. However they were simple "typos" and not mistakes that made it hard to read the whole story, as in some books.
I enjoyed that the book flowed along easily, not slow, but also addressed that each character had their own lives, no unrealistic setting of nobody having to go to work for weeks. Both characters had baggage, but realistic baggage that many people have, not high drama or any parts that were hard to envision.
What I really loved about this book was that the chemistry was good, writing style great, good scenes (sex or not).
The one thing that dampened my excitement a little was that through the whole book, again believable story, but the ending although HEA, was too rushed and anti-climactic, killing the "realness" of the rest of the book. Will definitely read more by this author!
Erected is the first book in the sizzling hot Erector Set series by bestselling author Desiree Holt. A great story with complex characters, steamy chemistry, humor, low angst, and surprise twists that kept the pages turning. This emotional roller-coaster of a story pulls you in from beginning to end. It was a terrific short story that I really enjoyed.
I have absolutely loved all of the other books that I have read by Mrs. Holt, and I fully expected for this one to be the same. I really liked this story, but unfortunately there were a few things that kept me from being able to love it. Most of my issues were with the main characters. Don't get me wrong, I did like them, but they had a tendency to occasionally say &/or do some really annoying things that, again, kept me from loving them. I won't go into details, because I refuse to give away spoilers.
Overall, I really liked this book, and I will continue reading the series. I would recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
I have voluntarily reviewed this complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
Vanessa has had bad luck with men, so now she’s afraid they will turn into jerks like all the rest. She is independent, beautiful, and vice president of marketing and public relations for an electronics company. She was in a car wreck and broke her ankle. She’s at a business dinner and discovers her brand new car is gone. While she is freaking out, she meets Josh. Josh and his brothers own a development and construction company. He is handsome and very rich. Josh has had bad luck with women, they only see dollar signs when they look at him. So he’s a little gun shy too. He helps her out several times and he slowly starts to chip away her walls. If they want a relationship, they both have to reveal their secrets and trust each other. Great story. Couldn’t help but to laugh a little. The sex scenes were hot. Both needed to quit judging people by others mistakes.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for netgalley *
Erected, written by Desiree Holt and published under Totally Entwined, Totally Bound Publishing brand is the first book in D. Holt’s Erector Set series. This would be my first book by this author, so I can’t really tell you much about her writing style. Except I found Erected grossly entertaining.
The first meeting between this couple was hilarious when Vanessa Bowen though someone stole her car, just to find out it had been towed. In comes Josh McMann a gentleman who offered to assist Vanessa in claiming her car. One thing leads to another and Erected becomes erotic.
Though mild compared to some of the spicier stories out. D. Holt still shows you she got what it takes to compete with authors such as Maya Banks, Lauren Dane, Lori Leigh and Shayla Black. Erected very quick and sexy read. With believable characters. Because after several chapters I was starting to dislike Vanessa and her wishy-washy was.
This was a very short story which is why I gave it 4 stars. I wanted a bit more. The ending was sweet, but I felt like there could have been so much more prior to that ending. I did enjoy the story as a whole and the characters nonetheless.
Joshua McMann is a man that once loved and became broken. Vanessa Bowen is a woman that's works hard and doubts men. She's been messed with in the past by men that really didn't care for her. This was the story of their meeting and falling in love.
I enjoyed reading about the two of them because they definitely were a cute couple. They both had their own obstacles to deal with, but they persevered through it and found each other in a healthy relationship. I adored the steamy scenes between them.
Vanessa or Ness as she is called is a mess being a executive in a large corporation she is used to having control but when she meets Josh while screaming and crying like a crazy person she wants to get a handle on it. Josh can’t resist helping a beautiful woman but Ness just keeps getting into trouble and he can’t help but help her. When Ness and Josh spend some time together they can feel the attraction brewing but they both have so many hang ups about the opposite sex I can’t see this working. Ness does get herself in some messy situations and it’s so entertaining to see how flustered she gets, and Josh is beyond a gentleman. Short story but it really kept you entertained. Erected is book 1 in the Erector Set series and I must say I really liked this one! Josh and his brother have worked hard to get themselves and their business to where it is but not without issues. Ness is a woman climbing the corporate ladder in a man’s world and she has had her fair share of heartbreak along the way. Both have a past that put a shadow over the future so when their worlds collide and connection is undeniable will these two be able to move out of the past and into the future together.
Erected is a great start to this series and I look forward to reading more
Erected is fun read with amazing characters.Josh is sex on a stick, rich, gorgeous, tall and fun.He feels destined to never know what is truly in a woman’s heart, because he believes all they ever see is his pretty face and his thick wallet. He's the gentleman and always helps those in need. He keeps an emotional distance from the women he dates.Ness sees Josh as a player, and she’s been dumped by men like him.Josh has his own issues, having been burned by women interested only in his money and power. The book is amazing. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.
I started this series backwards, with the 3rd book, and wanted to know Josh's story and was pleased with with it. The way Josh and Vanessa meet and their relationship begins is fun. It had me giggling, well the story had me giggling. A couple of people who haven't had the best of luck in the past and not really interested in a a serious relationship meet and have to work through their issues so they can have a relationship, no matter what they tell themselves. Their's is a love story that I enjoyed and am glad I read. Now on to Alex's story!
I'm always excited about starting a new Desiree Holt book. Her characters are always realistic and her plots interesting. Ness and John have both been carrying around commitment baggage. It was great seeing them acknowledge the past and learn to trust and move on to the future. The plot line also introduced us to Josh's 2 brothers. I look forward to reading their stories.
I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
I enjoyed reading about Vanessa (Ness) and Josh. I liked that they had a cute if somewhat off putting meet, I like the character building ad the way the story was so well written. Most of all I liked their chemistry. The story was pretty short and easy to read. Jos was a little hard headed because he kept thinking there was another shoe to drop, but overall, I liked this story,
A very quick read. We all have baggage, trick is getting my baggage to match yours. Josh has been burned more than once by money hungry women. Nessa has been dumped by her share of losers only looking for the next tumble. They both have walls erected to protect themselves, but sometimes walls are meant to crumble.
Ness is a successful business woman but her luck with personal relationships is lacking. Josh is a success as well and is worried woman only want him for his money. The attraction between them is definitely there but will their trusts issues get in the way? This is a fast-paced read with plenty of drama. I liked the characters and the sex is steamy. A good read.
There were a few jerky moments (and not with the characters), but this story of two previously-burned people, learning to trust, is good. The steamy scenes didn't register as particularly hot, but weren't bad, and did drive the connection between the people in the relationship, forward.
Erected is an enjoyable read with a fun storyline, interesting characters (yes, they have hang-ups) and true to any Desiree Holt tale, a ton of Hot, Hot sex! Maybe not as good as some of Ms Holt’s other books, but a entertaining, quick read.
Vanessa has had terrible luck with men. She thinks they are all jerks, or will, become jerks once she gets to know them. Josh has had his own troubles when it comes to women. Their story is about overcoming the past and learning to trust each other. A funny and sexy read.
