The sixth part of the Dark Season series is a gothic fairytale in which Patrick the silent vampire finally takes Sophie to the ancient, abandoned vampire castle of Gothos.

There, they find ghosts waiting for them, and a demonic little man named Astley who is determined to get revenge for something that happened many years ago. Meanwhile, there are mysterious lights in the garden, ghostly maids knocking at the windows, and there's a room upstairs that contains World War One.

Can Sophie survive the madness of Gothos? Will she and Patrick finally become lovers, or will he kill her first? And what does an ancient prophecy reveal about the fate of the entire vampire race?

Wow I think this book was the craziest so far. So many strange, weird, creepy things happened.

Sophie, Patrick, and The Lock make it to Gothos, the place that has been mentioned all along. Wow I didn't know what to expect, it had this creepy feeling. There were ghosts, and this creepy guy Astley. He was just creepy and disturbing, and a perve.

The whole X rated scene with Patrick and Sophie was confusing for me. One second she's running scared for her life, she's running away from Patrick and then next thing you notice they're making out. Like if she was never scared for her life, she completely forgot about that. I just thought that was one the of the WTH moments.

I think it sucks that she was kept in the dark the whole time. No one would answer her questions, but she willingly went along with them. She was basically just used, and I hate that. She thought there was something more between her and Patrick, but poor thing didn't know the truth :(

Can't wait to see what happens next.

Meh? This review is for the series as a whole. Had a distracting number of typos and no character development to speak of - just a disjointed series of events happening to an unworthy character. Kept referring to a prophecy but never actually disclosed it or built towards it. Never set out what was special about Sophie. Never explained the wild improbability of the last installment - a perpetually uninterested mother somehow cares enough to commit Sophie for no good reason to the same facility as some unethical doctors who for some unspecified reason insist on trying to give Sophie electroshock therapy? Writing style was easy to read, but I won't get more by this author - very unsatisfying to put that much time into stories that go nowhere in particular.

So we finally make it to the first phase destination “GOTHOS”

We learn the people waiting for them to have a party were actually Ghosts. The Lock was helpful and yet not… it was his wife that was lady of the house and made all the preparations. In the end she killed her husband “the Lock”

It was a weird evening… something out of the twilight zone.

then amongst all the weirdness … Patrick comes into Sophies room and kisses her then they proceed to have sex. Something about the prophecy saying she is to conceive while at the Gothos house. When they leave it falls down to dust. She seen it just before she passed out.

Why did she pass out… we witness Patrick take her to her room and put her to bed… he kissed her on the forehead then disappeared.

Great Read! I have read all of Amy Cross’s short stories up to this one. Gothos is the best so far! Sophie has done what she needed to do, but the series isn’t over yet. I really like the different twist Amy Cross has put on these vampire stories-let’s just say Patrick doesn’t talk a whole lot, and because of that the stories keep you guessing and questioning what’s going to happen next. Can’t wait to read the next one.:}
