I was thinking about how this is another comic strip from my childhood that I'm revisiting after Baby Blues, and was actually surprised to find out that Jerry Scott created both. This is a little stereotypical at times, but in the way that lets you sink into the familiar characters.

Originally published in 2002, with strips from 2000, this follows directly from Book 3 as Jeremy Duncan explores teenaged life and his parents try their best. I’m a huge fan of coming-of-age fiction and remember my teens well and a lot of things chimed with me, but I also had a lot of empathy with his parents, Walt & Connie (especially as the dad of an 18 year old!). Some of the strips again take an amusing surreal turn, but most are spot-on recreations of life that are, on occasion, laugh out loud funny. Highlights include the changing age - parents want kids to be quiet upstairs, then want them to make some noise!, parents getting smoochy (so he thinks!), shooting hoops, girls-vs-boys with popping bubbles, “Call me Dad!”, Mum and son in tune, Connie’s existential angst, Jeremy’s premonitions with phone calls, 3 horror films in one sitting, Internet IQ tests, puking Odour eaters and Connie seeing her life in cartoons (Jeremy doesn’t get it). There is so much to enjoy in this brilliantly strip that I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I've always loved the Zits comic strip, so I decided to buy and read all of the books that collect the strips. "Unzipped" the 5th book, is a more early volume: the characters are still developing in their drawing and personalities. But anyone who loves this strip will love this book, and it's nice to see and read some of the earlier material. If you joined the strip recently, this older volume will show you some of the roots. All around a terrific read for any fan of the series!

An enjoyable walk down memory lane. This was one of my favorite comic strips growing up! This is a nice mini compilation with beautiful reprinted ink drawings, although I wish they made some of the books with color photos.

The continuing (comic) story of Jeremy as a teen. I don't remember that much in this collection that made me laugh out loud. So, eh, it was ok.
