The geologic story of the Yellowstone Country begins with rocks 2.7 billion years old that are mashed remnants of even older rocks, and continues with processes that shape the land surface today. Striking evidence lies along the park roads and highways leading to the north, south, east, and west entrances to Yellowstone Park.
A good overview of geology and interesting things you might see as you drive around Yellowstone and the vicinity. Even though it's billed as geology for the layperson, it is still pretty heavy on the science.
It was a good book, but I don't recommend it to anyone that is not a geology major or someone really interested in the subject. Some of the concepts were over my head, and I wish there were more diagrams. Apparently Underfoot Geology of Yellowstone is a much better book. Still I enjoyed it.
