SHORT REVUE:
I use the enneagram daily in my mentation and understanding of so many things to the point it has just become part of my intuition. So to say a review on such is of little value, I personally would beg to differ. It has helped me immensely whenever I am stuck in life, which is usually about 17 times a day.
Now the facts.
Gurdjieff did not teach “enneagram personalities.”
But his top students did who learned from him - some of whom fled to “Buenos Aires.”
Ichazo, father of the enneagram, was their coffee boy and spilled the beans, he had no reason to lie about these teachings or invent them out of thin air. They are not strictly personality types though, he made clear.
[A little background about him; he was friends with Castaneda and Jodorowsky (who was financed by John Lennon) - Jodorowsky gave a tarot reading lately to P Diddy that really changed his life, maybe? Arthur C. Lilly the Scientist and also adept in astral body development, especially with deprivation tanks, was told by Ichazo almost he alone (and only a few others) got his teaching in shamanic actuality (which means practically). There was much of the Essalen Institute coming in and out of Ichazo’s doors long ago then I am more familiar with.]
Ichazo says in an interview basically: “all out in the world now on enneagram is derivative horse hockey for one simple reason: It starts with enneatype being a “plus,” rather than a confinement to eventually psychologically evolve out from. Your enneatype is not a neat treat; a nifty thing, it is a prison, personality is a prison and integration is toward essence, a different thing.”
This book of his helps you grow beyond your fated type into your more starry eternal essence lost in the mix, there is an exact science to such and much knowledge needed besides just remembering and meditating and then suddenly one can “Do” without any guide maps necessary, willy nilly to life. Most all that this New Age these days teaches about getting to the core of oneself is nonsense, from inner child to screaming therapy and so on – still, way better than reductionist scientolator’s - “topped off jobs” one might call them – “paths”; they suffering from squeamishness and myopia to the point they may as well just crawl into a cave cause all is so woo woo offensive to them and flying over their heads and not making “sense.” Most of modernity is in a delirium in a pickle being eaten by something not so nice. But at least the New Agers - most of them - believe in dimensions though, something any non-possessor of hemorrhoids can intuit to the scale of life (more than one level, cosmos, whatever interpenetrating permeable reality, us and all around us), though somehow a good deal of moderns are flat lined toward such inside to this too I have been speaking to these past 6 months, who knows why, even though some are starting to imbibe “The New Age.” [man’s reality is very permeable I have noticed, call it hypnotism and astral trend, see, for example, my other reviews on the New Age as not even existing among us today inside had it not been for Blavatsky and Orage – it is amazing how much just a few can open us all out in the right connection to the Cosmoses, then we all lose it again into fragments].
[Such a short revue…yet 99% of people reading those last sentences of it before I went into social commentary will only “think” they understood them correctly…for they are too “nonplussed” in mostly just one of their centers perhaps too deeply and solely for such to have hit them right and so are rather either while reading it too: 1. bored, 2. distracted or 3. have a quick opinion about it - depending on their lopsided type they are stuck in: “1.” being Emo, 2. Physia, 3. Mental center too much - to really understand it, to digest it actually.
Such an evaluation, it is an example of Enneagram in action (just as much as Astrology can be used in action and practically). It is extremely practical, this art, if seen in a balanced and reminded way. Gurdjieff was a cook, he came here in the age of synergy for all to digest in all centers in themselves before the meal is over and the guests are apocalyptically beheaded perhaps - who knows soon with all these biosphere jacking “empiricist-only-eyeballer” half-wits running about.
What exactly are the 3 centers G. mentions in his lectures - plus some distinctions to each of a tripartite nature - that man is asleep in by falling lopsided into just the type of only one of usually always, and in main? I mean: 1. Emo type, 2. Physia type, 3. Intellectual type…? Could this be the enneagram types, the “I’s” to each he shows people gravitate toward in just one part of one center in themselves and stay there the rest of their life more or less stuck going in a circle?
Only 1% will be excited to seek the escape from such they too are in “as a psychological prison of lower self to them,” and are not just comfortable in – I know I’m certainly aware of it and always looking forward to getting out beyond such to me. For them…a very long review is indeed shamanically afoot and needed:]

First the question if Gurdjieff even taught enneatypes at all or if this is merely Ichazo’s “random invention” as the dogville internet loves to portray and debase. But before that:
ASTROLOGY AND THE ENNEAGRAM? WHICH IS BETTER OR ARE THEY SIMILAR?
A word about the Word: how does astrology, study of the cosmoses of the Logos or Multiverse - and we as both determined and undetermined mixes as microcosm of such in certain ways (astrology and it's relation to levels of chance to fate and higher that can be discovered as different levels of the universe co-actuating at once in us) - tie at all in to enneatype? I mean, can the astrologer benefit from enneagram-type study and vice versa?
I just want to say here yes, they are both looking at the same data in entirely different angles that amplify (rather than collide) and speed up one’s astrology (or vice versa). It all has to do with the astrologer – or serious student of the enneagram.
Any astrologer, for example, worth his salt can merely look at someone or correspond online with them a few days and tell their natal chart has predominantly more airy, fluid, earthy stable or fiery to them just as a psychologist evaluates certain tendencies. The ability to see these four tie-in to the “4” you may notice I will only hint at later in this review that Gurdjieff taught more precisely and directly as to use of the enneagram for evaluation of self and other as a true - and not only just metaphoric Jungian – alchemist art in practical every day life, to see the fullness of a person’s types according to their 4 centers.
This benefits us and our social relations immensely when we are stuck trying to figure out either – which is frequent in life if we are honest with ourselves. Enneatype or enneatypes in one is one’s fated planetary psycho-physical body (more the psychic side, the natural body) only half actuated, it is not one’s persona which is merely a ghost emanation of such and can be twisted into something different from one’s fate body or “dehin” as the Bahgavad Gita calls one’s enneatype’d self (see my review of the Gita here online). So enneatype study should not even be about personality type study. But it has become such in our glamour millennial persona-heavy static modernity. Yet there seems to be an enneatype to personalities manifesting on earth too in pattern here on earth as well, more on that later.
[One last key on this: most new agers today are lemmings about to go off a cliff singing tomorrow tomorrow thinking they have self-causality power like a god when we are not even 10% divine actually usually and are not in charge like we think. Personality has taken over most of us. This is the key missed in their half correct (for beings do have a latent divine causal body in their Atman) but entirely topsy turvy ‘upside down from reality’ delusion they are under (and so are unfortunately ever easily taken advantage of and go in circles). Rather, Ouspensky was correct it is a great thing for a man even to continually be in his fate (we are fallen out even from our fates now in Kali Yuga here – how much less then to ride on and control such divinely beyond mere persona lower ego of chance formations beneath our astral fatum?..). Most people he says that you see are under “the fortune of the moon” as the Purple King Astrology describes it (which comes from the Sarmoung Brotherhood and some Chinese still know of it), such is chance, happenstance below the law of fate (which is your astral natal type, your dehin)...
Beneath that is the law of accident which sometimes comes for its meal amidst such in a detailed way that can be understood and studied like undercurrent (with the ide’s). Beneath that much worse. All such is in a man at once even more here on earth than his more divine destiny he might reach beyond a mere fatum self, much less his causal atman of predestiny that can predestinationally determine whatever it wishes within the medium of his permutational fate. Such is so rare.
So we are not divine much, nor our own gods as atheists much. Near every sleeping person today has their own unique and uniquely false worldview, not just the new agers, that shows how they can and are controlling their fate like they are some Atman already, some Avatar here, some Promethean. Good to wish and it is possible, but no, no. Nothing could be further from the truth except in an absolute and impractical sense. So we start on the right step with the right map or we do not ever balance and magnetize the different sands of all such mixing in us in our tort selves into a microcosmic self that organically and correctly and harmonically resembles the levels of the cosmoses in the multiverse in a way that is essential and not just persona or a few centers being lopsided in us. Maybe some who take certain drugs come to see they are more than this self experientially, but this is rare, only a Shaman regularly does, and they are the essence of all the 12 Archaic Cultures teachings and paths.
This is truly what it means to be “Saved” by Christ too in my estimation – astral development. Christification or Crystallization, that The Word came to teach, only begins when one is magnetically aligned and reflecting the divine cosmoses as a more complete microcosm of such. But I’m not claiming to be some cult leader ‘gonna tell you how to do this,’ lol, just something I feel in me and am interested in and share it in an organized way, whether anyone gets it or not. I’m just at the tip of all such.
So the Multiverse is let’s say: Do, Si, La, Sol, Fa, Mi, Re, Do in its levels. If so, we are supposed to be the same in us, say: Eternal Atman with Causal Body (Do), Sionic chrysalis buddhin self with mental body, galactic self with astral body Kumaric behind this damnable demiurgic sun, Solar self with actual higher soul forming (such destiny usually only comes at death), fatal dehin psychic-planetary body, miasmic conjunctive native type of chance as a cell of this earth or chi or of mere zeus (mixed life) lower demiurge, reactive lunatic type below that and that man is falling more into these days, and some below that RE or Ray: “on the dark side of the moon” well, see my book shelf on nemean shellfish for them among us, they among us more plutonically than platonically.]
We have all the Cosmos in us, all it’s levels, but randomly mixed, randomly manifesting itself here on earth in a miasma called the “me” per Gurdjieff (see in Search of the Miraculous on this tort teaching) until we magnetize these sands each on to their right ordinance or level in us and interacting properly with each other in themselves in us. Such repeat is covered over in human society in a ninefold superficial facia of personas in a manner per the Gita, mama repeats the vertical laterally on to its baby cakes. The earth normalizes us as it’s mere tool cells perhaps it seems. HERA MIMICS ZEUS IN ALL LORE. Such chthonic self-ordering of earth is what good dramas like Bloodline on Netflix reveal the conundrum of, such types repeating as the norm, rather than a being becoming vertically self-ordinating (ordinary man is not normal). If any man dare say is left on earth in the future I guess it will be they like Blavatsky’s hoped for “future Buddhins” and I’m sure they will be practicing and doing such, not be laterals failing to launch. For now this sounds like space ball talk though.
So, so much for astrology, cosmoses and their relation to one’s mere enneatyped self or psychic dehin planetary self and how to practice the perfection of astrology and enneagram through both (one’s knowledge of such and one’s being-change in such).
Before leaving the question of how this work can benefit one as an astrologer or multi-dimensionalist, now, I’ll throw one secret in from Ichazo for the Astrologer before the next matter in order: he says there is a certain part of Aries (Old Calendar/NASA 13 days backward/actual Calendar Aries, not seasonal Aries) where a being born at that couple of days is completely innocent and outside the lower ego game, born without a lower ego. This has proved very interesting to me as a study of people, I think I have found such and they seem to have a lot more hardship outside of their sphere of control happen to them than most.
BUT DID GURDJIEFF EVEN TEACH ENNAGRAM TYPES AND IS THIS TO BE TRUSTED?
Ok back to the second main preliminary question before looking into the content of Ichazo’s teaching, did Gurdjieff specifically teach enneagram type at all?
Gurdjieff did teach we do not have one brain type but three and that each have three partitions to them (9…Ichazo divides the planetary types – see Collin on the more Jovial, mercurial, hot martial, Venusian etc types to all this - into 9 according to G.’s students that he learned from who used the enneagram too to see more than just the 9 partitions of centers…). Also the enneagram per Gurdjieff and Ouspensky was intended for people to use in all kinds of ways in life and applied to life. But is this a correct correlation between the parts of centers to man and the use of the enneagram (to evaluate phenomena to life such as types of personality)?

This book contains three fascinating lectures that Oscar Ichazo gave in 1981 about the underlying source of the climate crisis, and about the theory of the Enneagram. The book is out of print but the lectures themselves are included in his larger book, The Enneagram in Five Lectures, which includes two more lectures that give additional detail.
