Crazed vampire hunter Martin Keller is on the loose, determined to kill the last vampire and cut up his body for medical research. But by the time Sophie Hart learns of this dangerous plan, it might be too late: Patrick, the only vampire left on Earth, has been killed, and the hunt is on for his corpse.
Teaming up with Patrick's father Vincent, Sophie has to ensure that Martin Keller never gets his hands on Patrick's body. But is there anything Sophie can do to stop Keller, whose only wish is to uncover the secret of the vampires so that he can turn himself into one of them?
Amy Cross writes novels and short stories in a number of genres, mainly horror, paranormal and fantasy. Books include The Farm, Annie's Room, The Island, Eli's Town and Asylum.
Great Read! Amy Cross has done it again! The question is do prophets always come true. I can't wait to see where Sophie goes from here. For shorter stories I'm enjoying these. She definitely puts a different twist on Vampire stories. It's refreshing.
Amy Cross you definitely scared me with this book.
Martin keller reminded me of the guy with the arms in one of the spiderman movies. He went through intense surgery to be more than a mere human. Well that is what Martin is in this book.
He wanted to be vampire so bad he went through painful surgerys to become one. Then he sets out to kill Patrick.
Sophie didn’t do anything spectacular in this book… It was actually her friend Shelly that stepped up and saved Sophie from the big bad martin.
Now Shelly knows about Patrick and I am concerned what she will do with the information. Will she be down at Patricks house now all the time?
The monster Martin injected Vincent with the deadly venom and we lost Vincent in this book. He was the son that become a father and now he is dead. Why didn’t Patrick make him a vampire so he may live a long life? Did Vincent not want to be a vampire? Will Sophie become a vampire? Why did Sophie see herself in the wedding dress and her belly bleeding?
Who is this lady waiting on them to arrive so they may have a party? Will Sophie really die and if she does will it be to become a vampire? Vincent said… Patrick has been waiting on her and he was there when she was born. But who was the other person/creature that was there when she was born? Was it Hamish?
Ok because I am reading these all together.. I might be blurring them together in my reviews.

Meh? This review is for the series as a whole. Had a distracting number of typos and no character development to speak of - just a disjointed series of events happening to an unworthy character. Kept referring to a prophecy but never actually disclosed it or built towards it. Never set out what was special about Sophie. Never explained the wild improbability of the last installment - a perpetually uninterested mother somehow cares enough to commit Sophie for no good reason to the same facility as some unethical doctors who for some unspecified reason insist on trying to give Sophie electroshock therapy? Writing style was easy to read, but I won't get more by this author - very unsatisfying to put that much time into stories that go nowhere in particular.

Wow that Martin guy sounds like a very crazy mofo doesn't he. Very disturbing guy. There was a moment that I felt like I missed something, like with the whole Patrick being gone part. I was like " what happened, what did I miss, did I skipped pages or something ? "
I like that these are just little short stories, but I feel like I still don't completely know these characters. Sophie says she has feelings for Patrick but they never hang out, or talk to each other, they hardly see each other, so where are these feelings coming from? Idk I feel like there needs to be more emotions or something from these characters.
Good series so far, off to read more about Sophie and Patrick :)
