I recommend this book to anybody who's ever felt an urge to speak up but was to afraid to do so. Buying a book on assertiveness is one thing, using it to actually change your behavior, say in the work place, or with domineering relatives is quite another. this book actually gives you the ammunition you need to step up to the plate and let workers or relatives know that you're on equal footing with them. Some people dont want to take that step, and if so, it's their business. If you want to take that step, though, this book will help a lot.
The author does a very credible job of tackling a assertiveness . I found myself reading chapters that initially thought I wouldn't be interested in. I would recommend this book for anyone who is contemplating “being heard “at work.
I have read this quite a while ago, at least 10 years ago. We all have our shortcomings and at some point in time we must step up to the proverbial plate and stand on our own two feet. Sometimes we need to gain some tips on how to approach such topics as these. I was never a very assertive man, I had a rather overbearing father who sought not to train you to think on your own but rather how he thought. This book had a great number of helpful tips that allowed me to stand on my own, so-to-say.
