Alpha and Omega, I can do both. With my father’s company now in my care, the world is about to witness the Omega Revolution. If I must be the first to prove all the naysayers wrong, then I will do it with my head held high and in style.
Someone wants to silence me, destroy everything my father built, his legacy, my dream. Everything came crashing down around me the day Smooth Bourbon burned, and I almost died right along with it.
The deadline to mate with my pack looms. Someone will stop at nothing to stand in my way to achieve my goal. Apart from my pack I don’t know who I can trust. I am swimming in shark infested waters with unknown enemies all around me. I am determined to fight for the life I want. I will not go quietly. With my four Alphas beside me I will have my happily ever after, no matter what.
They may call me Omega, but I am an Alpha at heart.
Going Down Smooth is a Why Choose Omegaverse Novel. This book contains adult content and is not suitable for readers under the age of 18. This is part two and the final book in this duet.
This was super intense and had a lot of dark themes. Mercy was all independent and fierce; ready to take on the world. The author did well at paying homage to PTSD and the dissociation that often comes along with it. There was no kissing it better. It was work, like it is in real life. Having supportive people is important, but doesn’t make it go away. All of the characters in the book were imperfect. Even my sweet sweet Trey, with his stable background and (usually) calm nature. But seriously. An alpha who’s sensitive, sings, and wears glasses? Catnip. I would have loved to get to know the guys more, or even learn more about Mercy’s experiences in Chicago. But the book was well rounded and went down smooth. See what I did there? Get it? …. I’ll see myself out.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: torture, domestic violence, references to rape of side character, flashbacks, night terrors, grief from parent death, trafficking (attempted), murder, blood, gore, suicide, forced marriage, abusive parent, fire, drugging and kidnapping, hospitalizations, stalking, discussion of being disowned
It was good, but didn't work as well for me as the first book. The pacing was off and it was overly dramatic. It felt like the author was trying not to write a long book so some things got sumarized or condensed. The relationship development seemed to have stopped. Yes, these characters fundamentally knew each other, but they missed learning the every day minutia of each other's lives. The story took a macro-level view and missed all the micro-level parts that can make a romance special.
I do feel like I understand Mercy's decision to runaway better. She was upset, and rightfully so, at how she was treated as a newly changed Omega, but it was the statements of someone close to her that put her over the edge.
Also, for a smart woman, she repeated a really stupid mistake from the first book --- running off halfcocked without knowing the full story and not waiting for support and backup. I cannot abide that nonsense. You can't tell me she's smart and then make her act stupid. Part of what she was afraid of about being an Omega is the emotionality of it. Instead of that making her cautious and reflective before making a decision, she acts recklessly. Nah.
I know Mercy's mates calling her Alpha is supposed to empowering and hot, but it never worked for me.
I can't say if I liked or didn't like the inclusion of snippets of Freeya story. I am curious to know what her deal is. Her mates are definitely more interesting to me than Mercy's mates are.
This is what we’ve been waiting for!!!! The culmination of the Pack Smooth story is sexy and action packed! That cliff hanger from part one…whew…we pick up right where we left off and the dynamics of the Omegaverse society is on the edge. Will our girl be able to change the quality of life for other Omegas and protect her sister?! Will the pack see all that’s coming for them in time to make it out safely?!! Such a great sequel!!!
This was a challenging read for me cause I always have a hard time maintaining interest in shifter/OV and romance books in general once the angst is over. And my reading mood was in a totally different place. The parts of the story that set the foundation for Free’s story was probably my favorite part. The rest of the story was just a touch dry. I’m all for a character working through trauma on page but not for the amount of time it took up. So much of what takes place between Mercy and her pack just felt like filler until the plot climax. I am overjoyed about the prospect of this being an expanding series of Black and POC characters in a sub genre that is definitely lacking diversity. I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed because this story has some good moments. I just didn’t love it.
Let me start by saying I read the first half of the book without realizing that I had done that, it pulled me in and would not let me go. Okay, so book two picks right off where one ended. In this book we see more family dynamics between all the main charters. We meet Freeya,s pack and get part of her back story. In this book Mercy comes into her Omega/Alpha and now sets out to change things for all Omegas.
Tropes & themes: MFMMM, female omega with alpha energy, all alpha MMCs, second chance romance, rejected pack, childhood friends to lovers, business woman FMC, overcoming societal expectations / social reform, an all Black pack!
This book picks up right after the slight cliffy at the end of book two.
TWS!! Not listed, but there is both DV and on page SA (of FMC’s sister)
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this conclusion to Mercy’s story! I wasn’t expecting all of the really cool sections about her bestie, Freeya, but I am obsessed with her and her pack as well.
All in all, this is a great duet and I deeply appreciate the social commentary and themes surrounding omega rights, designation expression, and more.
*RH *Omegaverse *Multi-POV *second chance *rejected pack *in denial FMC *family drama *friends-strangers-lovers *established harem *fast burn 🔥 *2/2 Who needs enemies with a family like the Smooths 😳😳 Whilst her sister was used at the end of the last book to lure her to her near death at the end of the last book! It starts to come to light just how twisted Christopher’s plans are… You get to see the development of Mercy’s relationship with her men, and how she connects with them individually 😄 When you think is going smoothly it suddenly comes to head in the last few chapters! I like with how strong and Alpha Mercy has been she gets to save herself in this book 💪 Personally for me, I felt the first half of the book was a little slow, but the second half certainly picked up with plenty of action! The big thing for me that brought the rating down was the fade to black for the heat scene…one of the major tropes of Omegaverse is the heat scene and this just didn’t hit it they key trope for the genre. With the inklings into Freeyas story we get throughout this book I would read that story.
Going Down Smooth Part Two By Dreia Wells wraps up the Going Down Smooth duology and it was wild. The crap that went down shocked me, I devoured this in one setting.
Mercy has gone through a lot, some of that is her own fault but a lot of it isn't. I like Mercy a lot but she frustrated me in equal measure. Mercy is an alpha in an omega's body and I feel for that but she made poor decisions. Like not learning about omegas so she can what she was better, jumping head first into situations, and finally, she pushes people away. On the flip side of that, Mercy is a strong, confident, determined businesswoman.
I will admit Mercy learns some lessons and does better this time around. She and the guys are connecting building their relationship back up from the ruins that it was. This is a fantastic harem, these guys accepted Mercy back with open arms and treated her like a queen. They were Mercy's best friends before and they still are now, things are just more passionate. Their devotion to her is sweet but I didn't like the fact that they seemed to have to tip-toe around her at times (she hates being seen as weak). Finally, readers get to learn about Lox's past, I knew something happened with his family and now I have some of the details and it made me love Lox even more. Mercy and the guys had some touching moments and there was a lot of steam thrown in there too. I love their relationship now, Mercy has an open mind and the guys are supportive.
Let's talk about Freeya, Mercy's best friend and assistant. Mercy's and Freeya's friendship hit a stumbling block but they pulled through. They still love, support, and cherish each other. Freeya had a few chapters, she was doing her own thing getting used to pack life, and then plot twist. Some of Freeya's past comes out and a new storyline is possibly revealed. I feel like this could be either a novella or a full novel, I would love either one because I'm dying to know the outcome of Freeya's story.
Oh, the drama. This plot was crazy, it started off with the aftermath of the explosion, Mercy had to work through her PTSD (I was proud of her for accepting help) and she had to rebuild her company. A nice size of the plot was the harem coming together and Mercy becoming comfortable with her designation. As for the drama, there were the inheritance issues, underhanded plots, her sister's abusive and controlling alphas are on the loose, creepy deals happening in the shadows, attacks, the media, and apparently Mercy kicked off and Omega Rights movement. It was a lot but it was exciting.
I loved Going Down Smooth Part Two, it was a superb read. The chaos drew me in and held my attention. Dreia wrapped up Mercy's story nicely, now only if I can get my hands on Freeya's.
What a satisfying conclusion to this duet! We pick up the story right where book one ended and the story immediately sucks you in. You want to know more, feel more and see the HEA that has to be just around the corner. There’s a lot of drama before we get there though and I really liked the journey. The twist and turns kept me rooted to the spot and the final epic moment was worth it!! The lighter moments with humor were definitely appreciated also because it isn’t an easy road for Pack Smooth and we all need that light in there too.
I love how Nate, Knight, Lox and Trey gave her the emotional space to work with her emotions and PTSD. Seeing her healing journey was a highlight for me and I felt it was one of the highlights in the book. Yeah, the guys suffered blue balls because of it but not once did they try to pressure Mercy to let them in more than she was capable of at the time. Really appreciated that.
This book was definitely darker than the first one and that’s saying a lot. I think we definitely took a turn towards dark romance in this book and while it made sense, it does mean one needs to heed the warnings. We do not joke around with the trigger warnings.
I also really liked Freeyas chapters and I was happy to see more of her pack dynamics. The end of this book makes me anxious about her book and what’s going to happen and I highly recommend reading the extra bonus content because that sets the stage for her story.
Going Down Smooth: Part Two is the final installment in Mercy Smooth’s story, and we hope you’re ready for this because the bad guys? They aren’t going down easy. Mercy is back to finish what she started, and you’re going to be pretty happy with how it all shakes out for her and her men. Where book one left off, with Mercy in dire peril, book two picks up right where things left off. Big props to the author for that, because if we had skipped past and moved forward after that ending...yeah, readers would have been up in arms. LOL! But things are touch and go there for a minute. But, of course, it’s not long before Mercy is back on her feet. Things aren’t perfect, but I appreciate the fact that she has to struggle through some things first before the “ship rights itself.” One of my personal favorite moments in this book is brother Heath. Him checking Lox? Yeah, I loved him for it all the way. LOL! Sorry not sorry but Lox is my least fave of the guys. You get a tiny glimpse of Lox’s background, but not enough for me. But it’s enough for me to look at him differently...and not necessarily in a good way. Sorry not sorry. I loved the ending of this book. The author kept me more engaged with this book and how it would all play out. The chapters with Freeya? Simply made me hungry for more of her story. The final chapters of this book though, were probably the best. You get that nice satisfaction concerning the bad guys, and you 100% get a HEA. 4.5 out of 5 stars
"Going Down Smooth" is the final book in the Smooth Pack Duet and it was everything I hoped it would be! There's a lot of plot development packed in this book, with some lovely spicy scenes in between. I truly love the flow of this storyline; it's the perfect balance between action, suspense, spice, relationship building, ... As a result I lost track of time while reading this book.
This is one of the few stories where, besides the main fmc, we get a little extra storyline on the side with a second fmc and her men, and I really loved that. I'm curious to watch Freeya's story develop further, and get to know her men a little better. There are definitely a few who already fascinate me, even though Mercy already has some fine men for her own. I'm not picking favorites, because they work so well as a harem, it wouldn't feel right to start splitting them up.
I really enjoyed the contemporary omegaverse world this author created, and I'm honestly hoping for more stories in the future. For now, I can already recommend this complete duet!
I've been waiting for this book to come out. The first book ended in a big cliffhanger so it was hard to wait to see the outcome.
Going Down Smooth: Part 2 is the continuation of Mercy's story. And there was so much that happened in this book that I don't want to say too much. I would hate to ruin anything for other readers. But I can say that this story contained a lot of action, betrayal, and drama. I mean what do you expect when one of Mercy's fathers wants her dead. He thinks everything his other alpha built should've been given to him instead of their daughter. Good thing she has her alphas looking out for her.
And surprise, it's clear that Free will have more of her story coming in a future book. It looks like someone in her past has tracked her down and thinks she's his. I'm sure her omega and alphas won't let that happen.
I was anxiously awaiting this sequel since the first book left on a cliffhanger and I was worried about what would happen to Mercy! The story picks up right where we left off and gives a bit of a refresher just in case some of the details slipped your memory.
Mercy has been through so much, and continues to go through even more. But she’s smart, strong, resilient, confident, and has the support of some amazing men & friends to help her through it. She’s definitely not perfect, although I liked to see her learn from her mistakes and figure out what she did wrong and how she can do better.
The devotion her guys have for her is so dang sweet and I love how they all learned to better communicate & lean on each other instead of running away from problems.
This is definitely worth a read, and if you haven’t read book one yet, it’s important to do that first so you get the whole story and background of these amazing characters!
This book continues where book 1 finished, with Mercy trapped in the fire.
I really enjoyed all the characters in the book. The good and the bad.
So much goes on in this book, Mercy has to deal with the aftermath of the fire and rebuild the business. She has her amazing assistant Freeya and her mates to help though.
So everyone knows who's to blame but they have to be clever if they want to catch them. It was a bit nail-biting in a few places, definitely kept me reading.
We get to see more of Freeya and her mates and also find out some more about her background, I'm thinking she may even get her own book..... maybe?
Mercy is a strong character and is determined to continue to push for omega rights and I loved the way her mates supported her.
There were a few tense moments but I'm glad Mercy gets the end she deserves.
Dreia... Dreia...Dreia.... you really must enjoy being cussed out because DA HELL! MY emotions were all over the place! I get so attached to your characters that I'm out here boohooing at the thought of something bad happening to one of them!
This is a solid 4.5... if you would have extended that car scene (iykyk) so we can take a little peak 👀 between the sheets, it would have been 5 stars! I was itching to read that. If you just so happened to have it written and what to take it off your hands...I will gladly take it from you! 🤣🤣🤣
I also thought I was going to avoid a cliffhanger this time around, but I should have known better! So now I wait....🙎🏿♀️ hopefully not for too long.
Thank you for writing a delicious book and introducing us to the wonderful Pack Smooth.
I also hope you are still doing well after your loss.
We start where part one ended. Mercy is stuck in her burning distillery after being betrayed by her sister Faith’s alphas. Using her sister as a decoy to get Mercy to the distillery. Mercy survives the fire barely but suffers from post trauma. Also her sisters alphas have escaped and took Faith with them.
This was a good conclusion to Mercy, Knight, Nate, Lox and Trey’s story. Mercy was able to be herself and make a movement for all omegas. She had survived two attempts on her life and came back stronger. Using what happened to her encouraged other omegas to come to her for help.
When her father Ben passed away she returned home to her rejected mates. Planning on saying goodbye and leaving again. But fate stepped in and brought her face to face with what her future should have been.
Holy moly! That was the perfect way to end the duet and completely worth every second of the wait. Now that it’s over, I’m at a complete loss for words, especially ones that aren’t going to give away the best parts of this story. In case you’re wondering, the best parts are pretty much every word in this book. I hated to see the pain and tragedies that Mercy needed to overcome, but the incredible person and leader she becomes from it has left me in awe. I adored the way her alphas rallied around her; to care for her, to lift her up, to be her army. Theirs was the kind of enduring love the world needs more of. Even though there’s a Happy Ever After now, I absolutely hate that their story’s over already. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Going Down Smooth Part 2 by Dreia Wells is a thrilling and emotional non-shifter omegaverse. This story picks up with the rest of Mercy's story as she continues to come to terms with being an omega and reconnects with the men she loves. This book deals with finding a voice and not being a victim. Some of the characters, including Mercy, experienced trauma and messages that they were less than, that they were forced to deal with. This story was beautifully written with amazing characters. I rated it 5 out of 5 stars. It was the type of story you can't put down until the end and it evoked a ton of emotions. If you enjoy omegaverse stories with lots of spice and hot alphas that would do anything for their woman, including submit then this is a must read for you!
Going Down Smooth - book 2 is the 2nd and last book in this duet. Be prepared that it goes for 0 to 60 from the start to the finish of it! With everyone from Mercy & her mates to her friends & family intertwined with everything that happens in this book. There were so many WTH moments that I couldn't keep up with it all of them. At the heart of it I loved the relationship Mercy had with her mates from the first book and in this book there was more focus on their dynamic. All of the loose ends regarding Mercy were tied up brilliantly. It was a cracking read. I'm looking forward to more books from these characters in future books.
This had a perfect ending for Mercy and her pack!!! And a start to Freeya's story!!! That came a shock!!!
This picks up exactly where part 1 left off... In the burning distillery!!! Mercy is saved but its a long road to recovery! And not to mention her A-hole father is still on the loose and wanting what he thinks is his... The Bourbon Company left to Mercy by her Bio dad Benjamin after his death. This is a race against time to save not only the company but the fate of one of her sisters as well!!! With the Help of her Mates, Knight, Lox, Nate, and Trey will they set everything tight and finally live their HEA???
The conclusion of a duet omegaverse. The second book was flaming...and such a great read. The count down has begun on when Mercy should be mated to a pack, due to her father's death wish. With her other Father being the culprit of the fire, and her sister missing, can Mercy be the mate her pack needs. There is so much trauma involved and how to dig yourself out of your trauma and stand taller in the wakes of it. Showing that your designation does not define you, but on how you define yourself. Full of love, support, and over coming obstacles, Dreia does a great job of bringing this all together.
This book is the second part in Smooth Pack Duet. It picks up right where part one left off and Mercy’s character has more development and the relationship between her and the guys blooms into so much more.
Mercy is obviously not perfect, but that’s what makes her real. She definitely does some personal growth throughout the story and I enjoyed where she ended up.
The loved the way her alphas adored her and the way they rallied around her. Their devotion is sweet to see.
Thankfully this one picks up right where the previous book left off and even have a small recap. Mercy has so much healing to do after what she went though in the previous book. And of course we get her jerk of a father to deal with who I’d love to hit. Mercy was so strong and thankfully had her guys to help her. We also got to see Freeya making me extremely excited for her story. I enjoyed seeing how things turned out. The plotting was excellent and there was a good amount of action to keep me entertained.
I loved this duet ! This second part had so much action it had my head whirling. Poor mercy always stuck in a jam close to perishing. That girl definitely has grit . She can run all she wants her men will definitely find her each and every time. The anger she felt with the betrayal in her mothers pack. That man was pure evil. He got what he deserved . So happy for freeya and also mercy got to mend fences with a loved one . This duet was just wonderful to read and let’s not forget the steam it’s definitely got spice .
Ok, so I couldn't wait for this book, especially with how book 1 ended with Mercy being trapped by the fire. Book 2 starts off exactly where we left off. I couldn't put the book down. I flew through it without realizing how quickly I was reading it. I loved Freeya in book 1 and of course still love her in book 2 even with the bumps her and Mercy had. Of course, I have loved Mercy's men and they stepped up even more. So good!
Oooh, what a conclusion to the duet!!! It's such a fun duo. I just love Mercy and her pack. This book has so much going on. There is so much loss and tragedy. I just love how this isn't your typical omega book. Mercy takes the norm and throws it out the window. There is nothing better than a strong woman who knows what she wants. This book has so much steam. It's such a sweet ending. Would love to have seen a bonus ending years in the future. I could not get enough of this pack!!!
What a great read. The story kept a steady even pace. All of the characters were good even the villains. Even though Mercy's story is complete I doubt the overall universe is over. Excited to see this author build this world. I definitely recommend. 10 out of 10. For both books ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great second part to this duet. Story picks up right where we left off. Back with Mercy again. Absolutely love her character. I was hooked right back into the story. Lots going on. No spoilers here. But storyline is phenomenal. Hoping to read more of these characters in future book. That would be amazing. Definitely recommend.
Picking up where book one left off. Our omega, Mercy and pack Smooth are thrown directly into action, m#rder attempts, betrayal and survival. To keep her father's legacy alive, Mercy must become what she was always meant to with her men by her side. While not as steamy as book 1, this plot rich book will leave you beyond satisfied. I'm looking forward to Freeya's story next.
