The Insta Series #2

Insta Connection

Rate this book
Butterflies have invaded my body. They’ve been dormant for years and now suddenly they are attacking my stomach, my heart, and quite possibly my ovaries. All for a man I’ve never met.

Ebony McCoy is already married to her job… which means she doesn’t have time for a man. However, a little playful banter online never hurt anyone—especially when it’s a man she doesn’t know and never plans to meet. And seeing how he is more than two thousand miles across the country, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Yep. It’s all fun and games, and totally innocent… until that darn organ inside of Ebony’s chest decides to betray her. Ebony is falling—fast and hard. For someone she can’t have.

Jet Jacobson has never been afraid of a challenge—so he’s still healing from a knee injury, so he’s working on making it into the MLS, so he’s got teammates and siblings who all want his attention. So what? He can add a girl into the mix. This is more than the fun, playful, long distance thing that Ebony keeps saying it is. This, boys and girls, is the real deal. Jet will stop at nothing to make Ebony a believer. This will work—even 2,634 miles apart.

So it may not be the right time or the right place—but one thing’s for sure, she is the right person.

A long-distance, quick connection, sweet romance.

I completely binged this book. Now that I'm finished I want to start back and page 1 and do it all over again.

This book is a hoot! I laughed out loud so many times!

This is a quick happening type romance, but the dialogue between our main characters makes this romance completely work for the reader!

I loved the sports elements. I loved the "I don't have time for romance" personality from our female main character. I loved the confidence and charisma from our male main character. Their chemistry and banter was top notch! The side characters-oh my goodness, I need a romance for each and every one of them too. I am invested lol!

I really loved book 1 in this series, but was blown away by this one. Bring on book 3!!!

Read this one for pure entertainment. I don't think you'll be able to put it down!

Thank you to the author for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Content/Trigger: a couple mentions of alcohol, implied marital relations (no details), kissing.

**If you have a younger teen reading this one you may want to help them understand that this is a work of fiction and that stranger danger is very real. I wholeheartedly believe and know of people who have made long lasting connections through meeting on the internet, but that's with adults (like in this book-and one is a professional athlete). I would 100% let my teen read this, but I would also remind her about the dangers of interacting with unknown people through social media apps. This book is a total 10/10 for me, just tryin' to keep it safe in real life for all the readers :)

Have you ever commented on a friend's Instagram post and then someone you don't know commented back to you? Well, that's what happens to Ebony. She comments on her friend's post and Jet Jacobson replies back to her. And just like that an Insta connection is made.

Ebony McCoy is a sports reporter in Seattle. Jet Jacobson is a soccer player in Atlanta. They are thousands of miles of apart. A little innocent online flirting can't hurt, right? She knows it can't go anywhere due to their distance. Jet messages her and their online relationship begin. It takes a bit for Ebony to be convinced by Jet that what they are feeling could be real, which I totally understand. It is pretty fast paced.

This is a really sweet, fast paced romance. Ebony and Jet don't actually meet in person until the second half of the book so there's a lot of Instagram messaging. Jet and his teammates are so fun together. Ebony's best friend, Beth, is an amazing best friend and I can't wait to read her story next. It was also nice to see Iris, Dean, Gramgram and Hazel again from the first book.

There are some pretty funny scenes, too. I laughed out loud more than once, especially the elevator scene and the airplane ride for Ebony. She's a fun character to read about. This a refreshing, closed door romance.

Thank you to the author for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Insta [ connection]

I read and fell in love with ‘Insta Boyfriend’ a few months ago and have been anxiously waiting for this one, with hopes it would be just as good. It absolutely is! I loved it just as much, if not more!

The story begins with Ebony and Jet meeting online and feeling a powerful connection to each other, and then the fun, flirting, and romance just keeps getting better and better until the very end.

The side characters added so much to the story—A Johnny Cash loving grandma, Jet’s teammates, and a best friend with no other dial than honesty and bluntness. The banter between Ebony and Beth was so good and had me constantly smiling and laughing.

This book is an absolute gem and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves sweet and witty romcoms.

Many thanks to the author for an eARC. All opinions are my own.

I thought this was a super sweet romcom! Jet and Ebony had a lot of chemistry, and their romance was fast but adorable.
I really liked Ebony’s character! She was so strong and determined, and she was extremely good at what she did. I think sometimes her strength could come off a little harsh, but at the same time, she was trying to succeed in a very male dominated world of sports. I admired her willingness to persevere and how she knew her worth. While Ebony was trying to keep her heart in check, she ended up falling for Jet even though they were far away from each other. Her romance with Jet was out of character and adorable! I love how Beth supported and pushed her!
The side characters in this one really made the book for me! I really loved Jet’s teammates and every scene at the diner cracked me up. They were the perfect foil for Jet as he fell head over heels for Ebony. Jet was so cute! I loved how much he cared for Ebony, and the little ways that he showed up for her even though he was far away. He and Ebony fit well together, and there were some fun twists in their HEA. I feel like those twists made a lot of sense for both of the characters.
While at times it took me a little bit to get into this story, I ended up really enjoying it. It was fun to get to see some characters from other books too like Iris and Dean! I would totally recommend this book. It is a part of a series but it can be read standalone.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

Can I just tell you how dumb I feel for not quite making an *obvious* connection? I realized that while Insta can mean an instant connection (or in the first book boyfriend) but it is most likely because Instagram plays a big part in the stories! It is so well done, but it took my brain a while to make the connection 😂😂😂.

I adored just about everything about this book. Ebony had me fussing at her a few times and she finally listened and I went back to enjoying the book, LOL! She "meets" Jet through an Instagram post, and I loved their banter.

This is one of those books you read when you need something light and fluffy that will keep you smiling or laughing. I love that GramGram made an appearance, as did Beth and Dean (the first book, {Insta} Boyfriend is their story), and Jet's friends add a lot, such a great cast of characters.

I already want to dive into the next book, I have high expectations after loving the first two.

Online banter and a long-distance relationship makes for one swoony and relatable romance. I don’t think I have ever read a romance where most of it is long-distance, and this one still managed to bring love and heat to a closed-door relationship! Ebony is a sports journalist, Jet is a soccer star recovering from an injury. They have an instant connection online but reservations on whether their romance can withstand the distance. Once they meet in person, a HEA is a sure thing (thankfully!) I am loving this series!
I had the opportunity to read a gifted copy from the author and provide my honest thoughts.

Ohh I loved this book and pretty much devoured it. Once I started I simply could not get enough. It was ridiculously cute and had me smiling from ear to ear the entire time I was reading it!

Jet is a professional soccer player and Ebony is a sports reporter. They meet through commenting on an Instagram post from a mutual friend. They quickly hit it off and start DMing each other and they get to know each other better. The DMs turn into late night conversations and video dates which I absolutely loved! One of my favorite scenes was the video dinner date that had me gushing. In fact I gushed and swooned so many times throughout this book that I think my husband and daughter got a little tired of me saying how cute the book was. Lol

I absolutely loved Jet! He is definitely boyfriend material. He was adorable and charming! Just a total sweetheart. He treated Ebony so well being the perfect gentleman and through all his gestures that showed her how much he cared. I think I have a little crush on him myself. Who doesn’t love a leading male who runs across a soccer field after seeing you in person for the first time! And then he showed up at her office in Seattle after being rained on! Swoon!

The chemistry is amazing between Jet and Ebony and when they finally met in person it is pure fireworks. They share several swoon worthy kisses. This is a clean romance so nothing ever goes further than the amazing kisses!

I also want to mention I loved the side characters as well. Beth, Iris, Gramgram, and the other guys on Jets sports team were so much fun!

This insta and “new world” romance is a little different than the slow burns I usually read but it was all done so well and everything worked. This was my first book by Jen Atkinson but now she will be added to my list of favorite authors. I can’t wait to check out the other books in this series!

Insta Connection just brought me pure joy and entertainment. One of my favorites reads the year and a must read for any romcom lover!

I was sent a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I also be bought a paperback copy for my shelf!

I think I unfairly disliked Ebony in this one because she was just such a hypocrite. She gave Iris such a hard time about Dean and their relationship in the last book, when they were literally spending almost all day, every day together, learning about each other and building their relationship. Ebony embarks on an online relationship, which is fine, but she totally refused to do for Iris what she absolutely demanded Iris do for her—namely, be honest and upfront about her situation, keep her in the loop, and share what was happening in her life and with her feelings about Jet. So anyway, I had a hard time liking Ebony or this story, even though it was totally fine on its own and Jet (and his teammates, and his turtle) were great.

Adorable!

I am loving these {Insta} books so much! Ebony and Jet’s Insta Connection and chemistry was so cute and fun! I loved how sweet Jet was and how he and his friends worked together to get Ebony to Atlanta so they could see if what they had was real! It was so fun to watch their whirlwind romance and see them find their HEA!

Fun read, refreshing romance where they admit their attraction and like/love early on so that doesn’t become the big obstacle. It’s all the other stuff that becomes the obstacles(for once).

Romance Level: kissing 🔥

One thing you need to know it's that I'm usually not into "insta" stuff. It tends to happen faster than I would like.... BUT, I think I might have a special spot for Jen's books.

I actually love the plot behind this story. It was super cute. I loved their chemistry online! They were definitely flirting while arguing their sports opinion🔥😅.

Billy Boy was the best wingman Jet could ask for. Part of the things I love the most about sports romance is that the team players have such a deep bond between them. It's beyond friendship, it's a brotherhood. Here's not the exception 😍 Lol, I love her interactions with the Rhino boys 🦏! They were perfect

First if all, Jet is so cute. I love how he went all in. He could charm everyone with his fun & caring personality.

Their first kiss?? Amazing. Their most meaningful kiss? Beyond amazing 🔥Hats off to Jen for creating this story.

“Life is the question,” she says, her voice taking on a regal tone. “And life is the answer, and God is the reason and love is the way.”

I loved this book because it gives you the drama & all the sitcom... But it shifts everything! Trust me! It's not what you think it will happen. I just couldn't with how open they were to each other. Even when one tried to ignore/avoid a situation... The other one followed and it got solved through talking it out.

Beth was an MVP! Such amazing second characters! The boys were the best, Adri was brilliant, Jacob was the cutest & Gramgram was back again 😂.

The whole dilemma was so funny. Yes, the solution happens quick, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The epilogue was so sweet. This man was the best. So caring & delightful 😍 I loved him.

Did I find another favorite author? I think I did! Count me in for whatever you write Jen! I'm super excited for Insta Kiss coming next!

My favorite scenes:
The video chats😍
His small gift🥺
The mirrod🪞
The trips

* I was kindly gifted an ARC from the author. This doesn't influence in any form my review/opinion of the book*

This book is so much fun!!! I was hooked from the first page.

Read if you like:
* Part of a series/can be read as a stand alone
* Dual POV
* Online Relationship
* He Falls First (and hard)
* Crackling Chemistry
* Witty Banter
* Side Characters That Need Their Own Books!

I'm not usually a fan of instalove, but this was done so well! Jen Atkinson hooked me with her witty banter and doses of reality. The chemistry between Ebony and Jet is palpable, which is a testament to Jen's writing as they don't even meet in person until 2/3 of the way through the book! There are so many great side characters in this book which helped keep both MCs individual storylines fun. I hope we see them in future books.

Favorites:
* The Video Chats
* Beth helping Jet
* Clarence ('I'm not afraid of turtles!")
* The Gift
* The players and their loyalty to DJ
* The Sports Banter
* The Grand Gesture
* The Surprise Ending

This is the first book I've read by Jen Atkinson and it will not be the last. This is actually the second book in this series and I immediately purchased the first book so that I could read Iris and Dean's story. I can't wait to read Beth's story next!

*I was gifted an ARC of this book by the author, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I actually enjoyed this book so much that I purchased a physical copy as soon as they were available!

This book was so entertaining! I truly felt the “Insta Connection” immediately. After just reading the sneak peek chapter at the end of the last book in the series I was hooked and knew this one was going to be a must read for me. It has lots of witty banter, LOL moments, and swoony scenes. I love how Ebony had no filter most of the time. I loved that Jet was a take the bull by the horns kind of person when he knew what he wanted. As a couple they were adorable and perfectly imperfect together. Loved the sugar addict turtle that free roamed the apartment!

So I kind of fell in love with Jet in the story. Sorry Ebony. But yeah, he’s awesome. And I loved his immature group of soccer teammates. That 2nd phone call Billy Boy made had me laughing out loud so hard I literally had tears streaming down my face. I had to stop reading for a few minutes until I composed myself. The scene was unexpected and just got more ridiculous as it went on. I kind of felt like I was reading about Michael Scott from The Office trying to do something in a cool way and him royally messing it up. Just great humor!

This is the second book in the series and totally stand alone. I so much enjoyed this book that I read it cover to cover in one day. It will be a book I reread within the year.

Special thanks to the author who sent me an advance copy to read before the release date.

Rating: G/PG, clean, no language, some mild innuendo.

Not all instant romance books are for me, but Jen Atkinson knows how to make it work, sell it to me as a reader. Ebony finds herself in a flirting in the comments of a post with a complete stranger and the connection just sparks more and more from there. Ebony and Jet have chemistry and miles and miles between them.

I loved watching how their romance unfolds before them at a fast pace that hooks the reader with every turn of the page. It is entertaining, hilarious and swoony all in one with this sports romance between soccer player and sports writer.

Characters are fantastic, side characters too, and you find yourself really caring about how their lives play out. I am very excited for book three in this series as Beth is such a fun part of book two.

I came into this series without having read book one and I felt like it worked still, though I’ve already bought book one and will definitely be reading.

Read if you enjoy quick romances with strong instant connections. Read for the laughs, the banter, the entertaining conversations between Ebony, Jet and their friends. Read for the chemistry and read for the happily ever after. It has it all.

* I received a complimentary copy from the author. A review was not required, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is book 2 in Jen's Insta Series. I adored this book just as much as her first book in the series! You can read this one completely alone, but I honestly recommend you read both books. These two, Ebony and Jet have my heart. Ebony is a sports journalist who is trying to prove herself in her career. She happens to stumble into a little online social media chat with Jet. However, she doesn't fully know who Jet is and if he is really who he claims to be. Jet is a soccer player for a minor pro team working through some knee rehab. Both are a little new to this social media world but with the help of some friends and teammates they find their way through some adorable online dates. This book is full of such sweet moments and build up to wondering if these two will ever meet in person. If you love closed door romance, hilarious video chat moments, adorable pet turtle, he falls first, and sweet strong supportive friends / teammates this is the perfect read for you!
Thank you, Jen, for my free eBook! It wasn't expected for me to leave any positive feedback. These opinions are 100% my own.

What I read: {Insta} Connection by Jen Atkinson

Why I picked it up: I LOVED the first one in this series and was excited to see that the second one was being released so quickly (and #3 is out in July).

How I read it: On Kindle Unlimited

What it’s about: Ebony, Iris from book #2’s sister, finds herself flirting in the comment box of a friend’s instagram post with a minor league soccer player from across the country. Sliding into her DM’s was the best choice Jet ever made … but will the distance, 2,460 miles, keep them apart?

What I liked: Great banter!! I loved seeing their messages – as someone who can never think of something clever to type to a potential online date, I love seeing witty banter!

What I disliked: In book #1 Ebony has many thoughts and feelings about her sister falling in love without her permission, but when the tables are turned, she can find every excuse in the book for not waiting for Iris to approve of Jet. It was annoying.

Genre: Chaste love story, online dating, sisters.

Rating & Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and absolutely – but with the first one as there’s so much good back story with Ebony and Iris and Gramgram!

The writing was just…not great.

We were supposed to feel so many things in Ebony and Jet’s first online connection—after all, it was meant to be an INSTA connection, wasn’t it?

But I felt absolutely nothing.

Ebony is laughing and has to literally TELL you that Jet is funny because nothing was actually funny. Jet has to TELL you he feels a connection because there was literally no chemistry.

And immediately Ebony and Bethany’s first interaction made me put down the book. Calling your “best friend” a “HUSSY” because she sent a couple essentially platonic Insta comments to a dude? Girl, chill out, good grief.

First of all, is this Caroline Bingley’s drawing room? Who is saying “hussy” in the year of our Lord 2025? Second of all, if that’s how your “best friend” treats you, that’s not on them, that’s on YOU for having crappy taste in friends.

Skimmed through the book to see if I should try to stick it out, saw the last couple chapters and HECK NO. You can’t convince me that Jen Atkinson didn’t write that ending 30 minutes before her publishing deadline. Get outta here 😂

Didn’t like the characters and didn’t care about what was happening. Didn’t finish.

Jet is like a warm fluffy buttery syrupy stack of pancakes. You want to devour them both until your heart is content. And you just know they’ll never disappoint you. 🩵

Super cute and fun romance!

Ebony is a sports journalist in Seattle. Jet is a soccer player living in Atlanta. When they both comment on a mutual friend's post, they start messaging each other and sparks start flying. As flirting turns into feelings, they have to figure out how to make their insta connection turn into something more lasting.

Things to Love:
Flirty texts
Jet's teammates
Sports romance
He falls first
Ebony's best friend
The elevator scene
When the finally meet
The squirrel store
GramGram
So much chemistry!

This is fast-paced romance that was just pure fun to read. They don't meet in person until half way through the book but I didn't mind - they were so cute with all their DM and video chats.

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. If you need a fun escape with lots of laughs and a cute romance, this is the book for you!

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

📖Insta Connection By Jen Atkinson 📖

Spice 🌶

My Thoughts ~ Such a sweet and funny story, about a long distance relationship that starts online. Ebony's personality stood out to me as quirky to say the least and Jet seemed a little more put together and mature except for the funny nicknames between the guys. I thought this book was hilarious. I loveed Ebony and Beths friendship as well at Jet and his friends. This is a closed door type of romcom, it did give me a bit of high school type of feels with the way they acted at some points but I feel like the storyline was still portrayed well and how the author intended. I would definitely recommend to someone who enjoys a wholesome sweet romance or in need of something refreshing

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Ebony & Jet’s points of view

– it is briefly mentioned that Ebony had a baby brother who passed as a baby & that her best friend’s fiancé had passed in a motorcycle accident before they met

Review:

I’m not sure if I didn’t read the summary before reading the book or if I read the summary awhile ago and just forgot it, but I totally missed that I should know about the insta romance part told about in the title. 😅😂 While I felt a little dumb about forgetting the quick timeframe of the romance, I really loved the way that aspect happened in this story! I also liked that this online romance had a character that they both knew and that’s how they met. It made it different than the typical online dating romance books and I loved that! I loved how sweet Jet was and how much he wanted to show Ebony that he was into her. I also loved that Ebony was hesitant to change the direction of her focus and didn’t realize just how much she’d already done so until she was so deep in. Some of my favorite moments/scenes included: Beth conspiring, the guys trying to help Jet, all things Clarence, meetings with DJ, Ebony & Jet meeting for the first time, time with Gramgram, and the conversation with pseudo gramgram.

Summary:

Ebony is married to her work and no man has managed to make her desire otherwise. But one chance conversation in the comments on her friend’s post leads Ebony to start feeling something she didn’t expect. She’s unlikely to meet Jet in person anytime soon with how far away they live from each other, but he’s fun to talk to and Ebony finds herself looking forward to every single message from him. She reasons that she can flirt with him and still keep her career as the priority. No attachments, no problem. But the more they talk the more Ebony falls and realizes it too late. Would Ebony be willing to switch her priorities for Jet?

Jet is on the mend from a soccer injury and has a lot of people in his life between family and soccer. But when he starts a conversation with Ebony online, Jet finds himself falling for a woman he’s never even met in person. He also finds himself giving any excuse to talk and FaceTime with her. And when an opportunity to really see her is brought up, Jet is willing to do anything to make it happen because he’s completely fallen and wants Ebony to see just how much he is in on their relationship. But can he convince her when she’s been all about work and hesitant to really connect with him?

I have to admit that the instant connection/insta-love trope isn't my favorite, but IMO it was well done in Jen Atkinson's "Insta Connection." The chemistry and banter between main characters Ebony McCoy and Jet Jacobson were pitch perfect from the outset, and the fact that they lived so far apart forced them to spend a ton of time talking and really getting to know each other - probably even more quickly than if they had lived nearby and were going out in person.

Ebony had realistic concerns about how they'd make the relationship work given the distance between them, and I couldn't help but sympathize with her. In the end, as with any relationship, I guess it's just about making the leap and hoping you have a soft place to land with your partner. Thankfully, Jet and Ebony were brave enough to make the leap together and it all worked out for the best.

Overall, I enjoyed this charming story and would recommend it for all sweet contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans. I look forward to the next book of the series.

Off the charts chemistry! So amazing!

Wowzers the instant connection in this book was literally magnetic. I could not put it down from the moment they shared comments on a post.

The banter in this book is fantastic.
The chemistry is off the charts and so unbelievably swoony.
I loved everything about this story, all of its side characters, and so many other things.

I loved the power of conversation in this book. It reminded me a lot of my own romance with my husband staying up all hours of the night chatting. It felt real, it felt romantic, and Ioved the real fears addressed in this book and resolved.

The ending was fantastic and not how I pictured it being resolved which makes the story even better because of it's creativity! 100/10 highly highly recommend!

This book sucked me in from the very first page. It's one of those books that I just didn't want to put down. The author did an amazing job with the characters, the situations, the humor and the witty banter. It's just amazing all around!

Ebony is a sports writer in Seattle. She inadvertently "meets" Jet Jacobson, a soccer player from Atlanta on Instagram. I loved how their relationship started with Instagram DM's. Their virtual dates were just so sweet.

I loved that the reader gets to see things through Jet's point of view as well. It was fun to see his relationship with the other guys on his team who all called him "Old Man." I loved how he got them all involved with virtually wooing Ebony.

This book made me laugh so hard. It's one of my favorites I've read this year!
