The first of the two stories was cute and heartwarming, although predictable - the second on the other hand seemed like an exercise intended to show how many infuriating, stupid, antiquated clichés one can possibly shove into 220 pages.
I liked the first story better than the second one.
Though first one "Home for Christmas" was kinda full of cliches' and predictable but it's Christmas and I didn't mind those in the setting of Lovely Christmas.
Second story, "Search for Love" looked like a truly 'mills and boon' kinda story. There was more of kiss/forced kisses than the story which I totally didn't liked. I kind of hated the male protagonist, he surely should learn something from Mr. Darcy; how to be the perfect gentlemen and still get the girl.
A very easy to read book, ideally could be read at anytime, as it wasn't THAT Christmassy - particularly the second book (Search For Love). It is quite disappointing, as I was enjoying the first book (Home For Christmas), which was only 134 pages long. It's standard Nora Roberts fare by now, if you've read some, then there's nothing new, nothing outstanding. Simple and raunchy in places! A good read at any time of year.
The book can be read anytime of the year as it wasn’t very christmassy, as deceivingly marketed by the cover of the book. The first story was nice. It was a short, feel-good romance. It was cliché yes, but I don’t mind clichés, I quite enjoy them to be honest. It was an alright read. The setting of the story in a small village was very sweet and fitting for a place of old flames to be rekindled again. I liked how the main characters both had memories of the past and see how things have changed and what hasn’t changed. Although I felt that the story was a little rushed and the problem was fixed a little too quickly. Other than that it was an enjoyable read. The second story hmm. I much preferred the setting of the story in this one, because the way it was described and worded made more of a more vivid and imaginative scenery in my head. The plot was a little underwhelming, I felt that at the start it was set up for something full of potential. And then pages and pages went by and i felt that the plot was pushed aside and focused on character development to a day-to-day basis. Those were incredibly filler-y, I enjoyed them but I felt as though if it were a longer book, the plot and those pages would be more appropriately placed. It was either a too short book with too much fillers or a book with too much fillers and too little plot line. The characters also had a bit of a ‘huh?’ to them. I felt as if the characters had quite a two-dimensional quality to them. At the beginning of the story act this way, and then gradually over the filler pages they just settle down and the problem temp rotation evaporates? I don’t understand that. Moreover, the main male character was infuriating. Not only did he do some very ‘males must be in charge’ actions, which annoyed the feminist in me, but he had fluctuating emotions. He hated her. He loved her. He hated her. He wanted her. What? Also, I didn’t like how he basically just wanted her for desire and nothing else, I felt that there was too little chemistry or understanding between characters before the Insta-love happened. It’s such a pity because i enjoyed the writing of the second story more.
Home for Christmas by Nora Roberts (Christmas book 2025 3/8 - Passing on)
Secret baby + small-town second-chance romance. The MCs were together as teens, but he left to build his career, promising he’d come back. She discovers she’s pregnant, can’t reach him to tell him, and ends up marrying the OM. When he finally calls her mother, he finds out she’s both pregnant and married, and he becomes bitter.
This story follows his return to their small town after achieving everything he set out to do. I would have preferred if she tried to tell him and was thwarted by someone else, but since it’s a short story, I can forgive it.
3.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐✨
Note: This book includes another novella, Search for Love. NGL, the blurb makes it sound like a rage read and I’m going for fun and Christmassy vibes. Pass.

- Home for Christmas 4 Stars out of 5 This was a sweet second-chance romance set during Christmas time and such a quick and easy read! Perfect to finish in one sitting especially on the really cold days when you just need a warm cup of tea and a cozy book to curl up with.
- Search for Love 4.25 Stars out of 5 This wasn't really what I was expecting - nothing Christmassy about it so the cover may have misled me. But this was an opposites attract, steamy romance with Pride & Prejudice vibes. I did feel that there was potential for more here - there was a subplot mentioned in the beginning that wasn't at all explored until the very end of the story to tie things up. So that was a bit disappointing.
I have zero memories of the first story, Home for Christmas. I don't think it was too terrible, but it wasn't particularly memorable either.
However, the second story, Search for Love, is awful. Sorry, but I don't find assault - or "punishing" kisses as the hero terms them - or attempted rape romantic. I skipped pretty much the entire book and didn't feel remotely lost when I read the end. I just wish I hadn't, considering how the "hero" confesses his love.
Nope. Nope, nope and nope. Fortunately, this isn't my first attempt at reading Nora Roberts, so I know how much better her books became over time. These two are both early and it really, really shows.
Wasn't particularly a Christmas book - 2 stories in this book Home For Christmas - this story was a lovely little story and set around Christmas time - it ended how you'd want it to. The second story Search For Love - wasn't Christmassy at all and her falling for Christophe just annoyed me - to me he sounded arrogant, cocky and rude!
The first story was sweet but too short. In the second I couldn't warm to the male character. If you want a 5* Nora Roberts book then read 'Gabriel's Angel' or the Chesapeake series
Two stories in this novel. The first Is Home for Christmas and tells the tale of a man returning home to his native village for Christmas and seeing again the woman he fell in love with many years ago. Awakening memories he has to decide what he wants in life and if her feelings are mutual. The second is Search for Love, this one is about a woman from Washington that after receiving a letter from her estranged Countess grandmother decides to visit and try to understand why her parents would not let her see her . While there she meets her "cousin" and sparks fly but are they ones of hate or love. Not the best book this author has written but it was written sometime ago under the Harlequin label. From other reviews I have read it appears most people enjoyed this first story rather than the last. I have to be odd and it was the other way round for me. Light reading with not too much thinking involved.
A lovely collection of two romantic stories for the festive season. In Home for Christmas Jason Law the writer heads home for the season to Quiet valley secretly hoping to reconnect with his first love Faith but things have changed a lot since the decade he has been away, Faith has married and also had a child but are things as happy and perfect for Faith as they seem and does Jason after all this time have a chance to win back his one true love for Christmas? In Search for love Serenity goes to France to meet her grandmother and her grandson, Christophe she never met before, the relationship between her mother, father and the grandmother in question were never good as the relationship began under a cloud and many family secrets. Can she ever have a good relationship with the haughty Comtesse de Kergallen and can she ever win the love of the dashing Christophe? A sweet duo of love and romance to warm the heart at Christmas and a really good read into the bargain.
Thought the first story (Home for Christmas) was beautiful and very festive for reading just before Christmas time. Just a shame the story was the shorter of the two as it was actually the one I preferred. Search of Love I found to be drawn out, boring and the characters were very unlikable especially Christophe, I think he was an absolute creep and to think Serenity liked to be treated so horribly by him just showed how unbelievable and annoying the story was, couldn't wait for it to be over. Overall 2/5 just for the first story (Home for Christmas).
Easy reading book of 2 stories. Home for Christmas is about a man returning home after 10 years getting back together with an old flame. Search for love is about a girl finding family she didnt now she had. Both are what I call feel good Sunday evening stories.
In the first story two people meet again when one returns to the town he left 10 years ago at Christmas
In the second an artist ends up in her family chateau in Brittany meeting her grandmother for the first time- and meets her annoying cousin by marriage.
I really loved the book, both stories were great! I shall miss Serenity, Christophe and the Countess greatly, but if I want to meet them again, I can simply reopened the book.
