Eu tenho uma coisa por piratas e capitães que se fazem passar por piratas – mas que têm honra acima de tudo. E é sobre isto que este livro trata: honra, vingança e amor.

Devido à guerra, o navio onde Alice seguia, em vez de levar hasteada a bandeira inglesa, levava a bandeira espanhola – o que por si só era crime, mas protegeria o navio se houvesse franceses a pensar em atacar o navio. Mas são apanhados não por inimigos franceses, mas por um corsário inglês que tem um ódio especial pela companhia Fulton por lhe ter estragado a vida.
Alice está disposta a fazer tudo para salvar o irmão, o pai e a companhia e percebe que o capitão, apesar do seu aspecto mais rude, se preocupa o suficiente com as pessoas para não os tratar mal – sim, porque Michael era parte da sociedade aristocrática inglesa e mais não digo que seria spoiler!

Um livro divertido, amoroso, com personagens cativantes e interessantes, que me prenderam do início ao fim!

Pretty good book. I enjoyed Alice's way of standing up to Michael. She did a good job of negotiating the ransom demand. I think Michael didn't quite know what hit him. She also showed an amazing ability to think on her feet when she faced down the men on the Royal Navy ship to prevent him from being whipped. I also liked her escape from Sandford's house and her appearance back on Michael's ship. Meanwhile, he was dealing with his tunnel vision regarding his revenge. When he finally got it, he didn't understand why it didn't satisfy him. When things really went bad, he was devastated by what he had done and the effect of it on his relationship with Alice.

The last time I read a Harlequin was in my early teens, and I have never read a Regency romance. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it or not. I'm happy to say that I absolutely loved Captured for the Captain's Pleasure!
This book captured my attention from the start. There was action, interesting characters, and I felt like I was back in time with them.
I liked how the main characters, Michael and Alice, were not perfect. They both had their own secrets and issues with some of their family. It made them more likeable, and I could easily understand the rationale for their actions.
Alice was a strong and intelligent character which was refreshing to see. She was so fiercely protective of her family and wanted to keep them safe at any cost. She was very independent and a bit stubborn, and it made me smile each time that she stood up to Michael.
Michael came across like a bit of an ass, but once I understood what had occurred in the past, I began to warm up to his character. I'm glad he was finally able to move beyond what happened and open himself up to a future with Alice.
The ending was perfect for Michael and Alice. I was a bit sad when the book when done because I wanted to know what the future held for them. This was a delightful story, and I will be looking for more books to read from the author.

Really loved the book..... :)
Micheal and Alice learn to love, trust, and protect each other -
(sometimes from their own decisions)
Both, Alice's courage and Micheal's protection for Alice are dominant throughout the book,
eventhough Alice's mind screams "No, he is the captor", and Micheal's,
"Remeber, this is payback time", both trust their hearts - to love -
which is far more superior to hate and revenge.

Revenge story that mostly takes place on board a ship back in the 1800s. Hero is a privateer who captures the heroine's father's ship, with the heroine, her brother, and a girlfriend of hers aboard. He wants revenge on her dad because he thinks he caused the death of his family. The heroine has handed him the perfect means to get it. There's a lot of bargaining and negotiations and revelations. I enjoyed it.

La protagonista di questo Harmony tutto mare e sentimento è Alice Fulton, erede di una compagnia di commercio sfigatissima composta da una sola nave, chirurgo improvvisato, commerciante, samaritana, zitella acida nello spirito che si ricrederà come sempre accade dopo le prima 10 pagine, di fronte ai primi intensi bollori ormonali nel basso ventre.
Mentre questa giovane e caparbia (ancora per poco) fanciulla britannica si trova in mare dirette verso casa assieme all’amica gnocca dalle lunghe ciglia e dalla personalità di un fermacarte Selina vengono rapite dai pirati (corsari, ci correggeranno più volte durante la lettura). Si scopre così che il loro capitano, Michele Leonfalco (Michael Leonhawk), era quello che avevano assunto poco prima di partire come cuoco: probabilmente qui si conta sul fatto che la lettrice media di questo romanzo non può essere lo stesso tipo di persona che legge Stevenson e quindi non può fare un paragone con una scena pressoché scopiazzata da L'Isola del Tesoro.
Michele Leonfalco, che se la carica in spalla e la porta nella sua cabina con l'intenzione di "interrogarla", secondo le parole della sconvolta e inorridite Alice "non somiglia a un vichingo peloso" ma ha quella bellezza rude e piacevole e un fisico sodo e abbronzato. Ergo, quando questi completamente dal nulla prende e di fronte a una risposta un po' troppo sfrontata di lei (che ancora non sa come chiamare quel sentimento di calore al basso ventre che prende un po' tutte le protagoniste di questi romanzi all'incedere dell'eroe - perchè l'eroe degli Harmony non cammina, incede.) la slingua come un San Bernardo è troppo tardi, lei è già pazza d'amore.
E come non esserlo quando:
"Sentì le palpebre pesanti per l’improvviso calore che le avviluppò le membra. Il corpo le pulsava dal desiderio, un desiderio che non avrebbe neppure dovuto conoscere. Dischiuse le labbra, cedendo alle sue provocazioni.
Le due lingue si intrecciarono e Alice avvertì una scintilla nel basso ventre. Non riuscì a reprimere un gemito.
Ora, analizziamo la situazione: Alice viene rapita assieme all'amica Selina e al fratello minore, ferito alla testa e buttato incosciente in una cabina sporca e puzzolente. Le vengono fatte domande su suo padre, la sua compagnia commerciale (che è in rovina, ma lei non può dirlo perchè teme ripercussioni se il corsaro non avrà quello che vuole - che al tempo, ingenua lei, crede ancora siano i soldi), le si prospetta la minaccia di essere venduta come schiava, forse di essere brutalizzata, peggio ancora uccisa.
Quindi se ne innamora.
Perchè lui ovviamente è rude fuori ma sensibile dentro: protegge i giovani mozzi della sua nave dalle ingiustizie, dopo il primo momento di prigionia lascia fare ai suoi prigionieri un po' quel cazzo che gli pare, gioca benissimo a scacchi e soprattutto rispetta le donne per la loro intelligenza, di cui Alice sembra piena nonostante abbiano scambiato due parole la cui metà era un inutile e irritante Bitching. Come a dire che se dall'isterismo di una donna si misura l'intelligenza io sono Sheldon Cooper. Logico quindi che quando viene invitata a cena con modi che ricordano il primo goffo tentativo della Bestia con Belle Alice è ormai perduta per sempre, al punto che si irrita non poco nel sentire Selina criticarlo (anche abbastanza logicamente a detta di chi recensisce, e per questa sua mente logica viene bollata come vacua e ingenua, e schifata persino da un branco di marinai che non vede una donna da quando i dinosauri dominavano la terra) per essere un bVuto.
Basta la giusta pettinatura, e una sistemata al décolleté ed ecco che Alice si trasforma nella sorchia popputa che tanto fa battere il cuore ai rudi stronzi avventurieri dei romanzi d'amore: come a dire che se non lo sono dall'inizio lo diventeranno poi. Non c'è posto per le persone normali.
A questo punto Selina convince Alice, che ama ripeterci per tutto il tempo quanto sia disgustata da quello che sta facendo e quanto ne provi ribrezzo, a cercare di salvare la ghirba tramite un piano machiavellico: scommettere la loro libertà con una partita a scacchi e nel frattempo sedurlo, arte in cui Alice si dimostrerà esperta per aver letto un libro scandaloso nella biblioteca del padre.
(Ha! Ha! Ha!)
La scena segue uno schema classico in cui la logica va a farsi friggere, così come gli ultimi brandelli di donna intelligente ed emancipata che l'autrice vuole farci credere che Alice sia: si comincia con una cena in cui un cuoco provvidenzialmente francese (e nessun inglese che storca il naso?) che riesce a trasformare pesci e verdure stantie in un banchetto di lusso in barba al resto dell'equipaggio (prigionieri compresi) che pasteggeranno a base di acqua e gallette come in un'avventura di Zio Paperone. Commovente a questo la presa di posizione di Alice, che pretende di mangiare quello che mangiano i suoi compagni di sventura al grido di: “Io mangerò quello che mangiano i miei compagni di sventura!”
“Invece no.”, gli risponde Michele Leonfalco.
“Hai ragione, buono questo pesce!”
Segue partita di scacchi che finisce LOGICAMENTE in porcata, ma essendo Michele un uomo d'onore prima di arrivare alla roba succosa prende, la trascina fuori davanti al medico di bordo e se la sposa. Con la scusa che serve solo ad ottenere metà della sua compagnia commerciale.
Tranquillizzati i lettori cattolici e mormoni possono bombare.
“La vergine e il pirata. Sembrava il titolo di un romanzetto da quattro soldi” è la frase che resterà per sempre nel cuore di chi legge e recensisce mentre la prima scena di sesso prende luogo. Ironia meta testuale?
Basta una notte di passione kamasutresca (in cui lei si dimostra piena di inventiva e fantasia sempre grazie alla lettura del solito scabroso libro: a questo proposito, vogliamo il titolo!) e già lui l’adora pazzamente: ama tutto di lei, la sua intelligenza, la sua pelle di panna, ma soprattutto i seni sodi che le ha sukato per tutta la notte (secondo chi recensisce, il motivo principale della sua devozione). Il suo unico scopo nella vita diventa in teoria quello di proteggerla e farla felice. Poi ci chiediamo come mai le donne di tutto il mondo si mettano con dei perfetti stronzi convinti di poterli cambiare magicamente.
Non appena riescono a rimettersi le mutande la Marina li abborda e Michael viene catturato con l'accusa di diserzione, ma dopo aver subito una virile fustigazione di fronte al Alice che non sa se inorridire o arraparsi, viene salvato dalla neo-moglie che incurante delle convenzioni e delle superstizioni dell'epoca a riguardo delle donne a bordo delle navi fa un po' quel cazzo che le pare ovunque vada.
Michael riesce a fuggire e i due si perdono di vista per un po'.
Almeno finchè non torna a Londra di punto in bianco, si presenta al papà e chiede la mano della figlia per essere "presentato in società" e per reclamare la metà di una compagnia commerciale in fallimento (dal momento che la loro unica nave era stata presa d'assalto dallo stesso Michael). Si rivela con un colpo di scena tipico degli Harmony un gentiluomo inglese pseudo-decaduto, iol classico espediente che serve a non costringerebbe mai l’eroina specie se ad abbassare il suo livello sociale o, men che meno, economico.
Come viaggio di nozze Michael conduce la giovane sposa nella sua vecchia casa in rovina, espediente che serve a dare all’eroe ombroso e burbero una dimensione tragica, ovvero l’immancabile famiglia o ex fidanzata/moglie incinta morti. Fatto ciò bombano come conigli e al mattino lui prende e se ne va lasciando lei in un rudere in mezzo al nulla, e quando lei cerca timidamente di fargli notare che non sarebbe poi così malvagio poter andare perlomeno a Londra per fare qualcosa in sua assenza che non sia fissare il vuoto che aspettare languidamente il suo ritorno lui si incazza pure e afferma che lei voglia andare in giro per Londra a fare la zoccola.
Lei cede all'inoppugnabile logica.
La scelta di Michael di segregarla assume una sua logica se si pensa che in realtà invece di andare a veleggiare per mare si trova a Londra a ficcare un metaforico palo di 6 metri nel deretano del padre, da lui ritenuto responsabile dell'incendio doloso che avrebbe ucciso la sua famiglia, costringendolo ad un'amara vita di protagonista sexy e ombroso di romanzo Harmony. Salvo poi scoprire, a cose fatte, che è il cugino Jaimie il vero responsabile.
A quel punto tutto finisce in fuffa.

I really wanted to like this one, the revenge plot itself was super interesting and I was digging that. But... I'm not here for revenge plots, I'm here for romance and a brilliant heroine that I can cheer for. Both of these were sorely lacking.
The heroine was a stupid slut (harlot in her own parlance) with the emotional complexity of a spaniel. I knew I was going to struggle with her when a few pages in she's grabbed from behind and a gun pressed into her head, and she gets a sexual thrill because 'ohhhh It's a hard big man holding me, tee hee!'. This is a situation where she's very likely to be killed, her brother is laying a few feet away with a potentially fatal head wound, and she is giggling over her tingly lady parts and thinking 'oh my I'm such a naughty wanton feeling this way at a time like this'. Jesus wept, I placed my head in my hands and decided this was going to be a long read.
As to the aforementioned emotional complexity - the woman is a complete simpleton. If Michael smiles at her then the angels sing triumphant and she's catapulted into the heavens. If Michael scowls at her she's pitched into the depths of despair. She's about as complex as a toddler.
There is no romance here, only wanton, lusty, sexual tingles. He grins at her wolfishily and fingers chess pieces while she squeezes her thighs together and simpers wantonly. Fine and dandy if you want to read erotica, but this is romance, can we please have a romantic connection?
As the plot continues Michael works his vengeance, treats her like UTTER SHIT and ruins her family in the style of the Count of Monte Cristo. She bends over backwards to accommodate him, have sex with him, does everything he wants, trusts him in spite of his obvious betrayal, chases after him and bends over backwards to forgive him. Fuck this. Fuuuuck this. I don't mind quiet, shy, retiring heroines but they MUST have dignity. I don't want pathetic doormats. Real life is full of shit men who walk all over women, I don't need my heroines sucking up that shit in my romance books too. God I was furious.

An excellent read
A story of a privateer who steals the offspring of the man who supposedly ruined his life. He captured the man's ship, wanting to ruin the man's life in return. What he doesn't count on is falling in love with the man's daughter and marries her for revenge.
I loved the novel. There aren't many fictional books on epilepsy. Even though the male main character had no idea that is what he had because it was around the 1800's. I know the symptoms because my mom has epilepsy. I one hundred percent recommend and think we need more books like this.

If your looking for an esay read, that can capture your inner romantic heart, this is a go to. I read it fairly fast, and I enjoyed it. I have a lot of personal things to deal with at the moment, and this made it so easy to get a break from the everydaylife. I really recommend this:)<3

uma trama mais ou menos simples, sem nada de inovador.
os personagens enfrentam alguns fantasmas do passado o que lhe condiciona toda a vida no sentido de obter justiça senão vingança.
Alice tem uma personalidade forte, não se deixando minimizar sem lutar por aquilo que quer muito.... o amor de Michael!
Este por sua vez com um forte sentimento de culpa e com alguma dificuldade de assumir os seus sentimentos por Alice.
No fim, com todos os segredos desvendados e sentimentos assumidos, nada melhor que viverem uma vida de aventuras.....
Uma leitura leve, mas que nos dá uns momentos agradáveis de leitura.
Um romantico historico um pouco mais irreverente! :)

I'm a sucker for Harlequinn Historicals and when I found out they offered an ebook subscription I jumped at the chance. Sometimes you think that eventually you'll be able to picture how the story will end and sometimes it just surpises you.
I loved this story! I even cried a little during the end. Why people can be so helpless and stubborn when in love.......it's a really good story.

Surprisingly good.Tortured hero who doesn't think he deserves happiness. Strong heroine who thinks she isn't attractive enough 2b loved for herself but is willing to trust the hero. This time I liked the heroine better

Tralasciando qualche cliché classico del genere piratesco e una nota stonata che mi ha fatto venire i brividi stile unghie sulla lavagna, per il resto è stata una lettura piacevole! Peccato che l'autrice non abbia scritto un libro dedicato a Jaimie, un personaggio che mi ha incuriosito molto! =(

Indeed this story captured my mind with its beautiful pictures and characters. It made me feel like an addict looking for his pleasure. It sure is a really good read!

Very emotionally moving. Ann Lethbridge did a superb job with the plot. Even better is that the man was a pirate!
