This book wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The story did seem a bit recycled yet again from others. Woman goes on vacation with the intention of having an island fling. Runs into her nemesis, and they proceed to have hot passionate sex. Woman gets mad and leaves, man eventually finds her, and they get married The End. There were a ton of sex scenes in this book. I won't even say love scenes, because they were strictly sex, which is perfectly ok with me. Quite a bit of them were really hot. In particular look out for the infamous raft episode, that one really almost made the book fully redeem itself. I don't know, I think I am just looking for some new material from Brenda Jackson. The whole meet, fall in love, break up, get back together, and get married quickly scenario is just so old now. She really needs to take a break and come back with some new fresh material. The recycling of material is becoming rather redundant.

THOUGHTS
I love Brenda Jackson’s books, but as much as I love them, I have to show some tough love. I did not fully enjoy this book. I really love this series and the first two books in the series, but this felt rush like leftovers from another book thrown together.

I love Darcy and York, but their storyline was not that interesting. The mention of pervious characters where nice, but didn’t hold my interest. The intimacy was good and I could have easily giving it 5 stars, but it wasn’t enough to hold my interest.

I could break down the knick knacks of the book, but it boils down to plot and storyline. In a way, it didn’t feel like Brenda Jackson’s style, it felt like a beginners book.

Storyline: FAIR
Intimacy: GOOD
Enjoyment: OK

There was so much repetition in words (especially), phrases, thoughts, and even paragraphs in this book it started to drive me crazy. Everything seemed to be repeated over and over and over. Or stated redundantly. For example, in case you don't get that he's hard we're told he's "hard and erect". Those mean the same thing in this context! There was a paragraph explaining the main characters' background, including how they met, that showed up a second time later on that was almost verbatim of the first.

The story borders on porn without plot. I thought the characters she created with Darcy and York were decent and interesting but they were kind of wasted in this story because all they do is sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex and when you and even they think they've definitely had enough sex...they have more sex. There were some paragraphs indicating there was off screen talking. I guess we'll have to take their word for it. Aaaaand then they're in love. Well, sure. I totally believe that they're in love based on who the other person is and not the oh so amazing sex. Especially when about 98% of their thoughts about each other are about the ohmigodsoamazing sex. The sex scenes wanted to be hot. They definitely bordered on it, but they were also laugh-out-loud funny. Some of the word choices and thoughts the characters had were just plain funny, but none more than the guffaw I had when she asked him, not to come inside her, no, to "...let go inside of me. I want to feel your semen." And then that became a focus in the sex scenes.

The suspense plot was...there. For what reason I don't know. It was pretty much just there to give them a reason to talk, but their past with each other made the need for such a pretense unnecessary. It provided such minor conflict, blown up into being something huge, I'm sure something else that wouldn't have seemed so forced could have taken its place. The ending was seriously rushed. If the falling in love was fast and unbelievable the rest of it gave me mental whiplash and a serious scowl.

I was able to listen to this on audio thanks to Libby. The narration was fantastic and I listened to the book in about two hours. I was hooked.
This is an enemies to lovers romance. I loved that Brenda Jackson explored and pointed out that the first couple of meets between our characters just weren’t the right time for them. Them both being on vacation randomly at the same time…they find themselves in the right time. Darcy and York find themselves both in Jamaica and Darcy finds herself caught up in a bit of mess with a whole movie situation that’s going on at the time. There was a slight bit of suspense, a lot steamy moments and such fun storytelling. Classic Brenda Jackson!

It was okay... until the weird obsession about feeling his semen inside her. Is that supposed to be romantic? Sexy? Not a fan.

Another Bachelor in Demand bites the dust. York and Darcy have known each other for a couple of years since her best friend, Ellie, is married to his godbrother, Uriel (Bachelor Untamed). However, they don't get along and avoid each other during gatherings they both attend. York hit on Darcy at Ellie's wedding and got shot down in no uncertain terms. This put a dent in York's pride and colored the way he looked at her. What he didn't know was that Darcy had just ended a terrible marriage and was cynical about all men, and he got hit with the results.

Neither one expected to run into each other in Jamaica. Darcy was there on vacation and looking for a vacation playmate. York was there on business, investigating a movie piracy scheme. I had to laugh when Darcy first saw York because she didn't recognize him, and her dismay was hilarious when she did. It only got worse when he later confronted her about a man she talked to a hotel party. He had excellent reasons to warn her against Damien, but she didn't want to hear it. At the same time, the attraction that bubbled beneath their antagonism finally boiled over.

I enjoyed watching the development of Darcy and York's relationship. It started as purely physical, with Darcy intending that it end when she leaves Jamaica. York, on the other hand, sees no reason that they shouldn't continue. He doesn't expect to find that he wants more than just an affair. This quickly becomes evident to him when he hates to see her with someone else, and when his protective instincts are thoroughly aroused by the time she spends with Damien. I was a bit frustrated with Darcy's refusal to listen to York's warnings. I somewhat understood her reasons, but his experience should have made her more receptive.

I liked watching them grow closer the more time that they spent together. Darcy began to suspect that her heart was in trouble, but did not want to admit it. When the issue with Damien grew more intense, York made a boneheaded move that protected Darcy but made her feel betrayed and used. I hurt for her, but I also wanted to shake her for being so stubborn. I liked Ellie's conversation with Darcy and her attempt to talk sense into Darcy. The ending was good, as York showed up on Darcy's doorstep. I enjoyed how he took the wind out of the sails of her anger with a few words. The epilogue was fun, especially York's conversation with the three remaining bachelors' club members.

The story itself was . . . meh. Not much to it, what little is there isn't really fleshed out or wrapped up in a satisfying way. So there's that.

But the low rating is really because of the sex scenes. Mostly the hero uses the same, crusty old condom for their entire first night of fucking. And I do mean ALL. NIGHT. OF. FUCKING. MULTIPLE. FUCKS. MULTIPLE. EJACULATIONS. ONE. CONDOM. And it's just shrugged off -- first by him, and later by her. Ew, nope, nope, NOPE.

But there were other issues I had with the sex scenes, too; word choices, etc. And then there's the fact that the hero views the heroine giving herself orgasms as "a pity" and she goes from being pro-masturbation and sex toys to being "I'll never touch them/myself again, because now I know what The Real Thing is like with him." and I CANNOT with that bullshit view of female sexuality and masturbation.

Honestly, if you want a, IMHO, funny rant about this book, check out this crazy thread: https://twitter.com/The_Book_Queen/st...

Will I try another from Jackson? I don't know, probably? But only if I get a strong, STRONG rec for another book from her.

What a Man

York Celtic Ellis is not used to getting resistance from women. He usually can have his pick until his encounter with Darcy Owens. Darcy on the other hand easily turns down offers to date but when the offer comes from York she finds it difficult to say no; especially when they both end up in Jamaica where circumstances bring them together. In this book, York is an unforgettable character and Darcy is his perfect match. This is romance at its best in the style Brenda Jackson does best. Ms. Jackson knows what her readers want and she delivers every time.

Kept waiting for something to happen. As soon as the two have sex.. It's non stop sex. Leading up to that was good but after the first romp the book died. Very repetitive and the actual plot, the mystery an intrigue, was wrapped up too quickly and without depth.

Opposites attract. Darcy Owens and York Ellis have been at odds with each other for a few years. They both end up in Jamaica st the same time - Darcy's on vacation snd York is working a case. The sparks fly and animosity turns to passion and love.

*This is for the Grown & Silly*
And
to bring it to you I'm going to employ the help of an Elvis Impersonator. Yes, his name is Dale but for the purpose of this review, we'll call him "Delvis", a play on Elvis and Dale. Now Delvis, you come on up here and sing that song we wrote as a tribute to this book.

A chunky man in a white sparkling jumpsuit mounts the stage. He fluffs his jet black bouffant wig. He adjusts his large sunglasses. He spreads his legs and gets into the position of a classic Elvis stance.

"Weeeeeeelllll..." He begins.
"You ain't nothing but a horn dog, banging all the time.
You ain't nothing but a horn dog, banging all the time.
It was all about the thing and there wasn't much storyline.
Thank you! Thank you very much!"
Delvis has left the building.

I know. I know. I'm silly. But so was this book. The storyline and plot were so weak. I swear it was built around the "romps" and they weren't even good romps. They were repetitive and yawn-able. Like "Oh..they're at it again? Oh ok, wake me up when there might be some plot to listen to. And there never was. "Wait, here they go again. Yup it was the best ever. This time? Didn't you say that last time?" I think the book might have been marked as a Romance Fiction, which I do like. Actually that's what I thought this might have been. Romance fiction actually has a story and a plot with some "special stuff" tossed in. They can really stand alone minus the special stuff, it just adds to the romance. This... it wasn't even descriptive enough for Erotica..of course, I don't know what that is, I'm a good girl pure as the driven snow. I also have some swamp land I want to sell you.. I digress. It was just not for me. I listened to it. THANKFULLY I didn't purchase this. It was easy to listen to and it wasn't so boring that you fall asleep. It was just almost amateur. And I hate saying that because it sounds so mean. I really don't want to be mean. I've read a few books by this author way back when and I didn't hate them. It's just that compared to some other authors I've read this didn't stand up. There should be a strong plot of some kind for the romance genre, scenes that add to and support the storyline line. Don't think up a load of escapade ideas and write a little diddy around it.

Two stars I really don't even know why. I may try again with this author because my memory says I liked something by her long time ago. On the other hand maybe I outgrew her type of book? Maybe I was singing Delvis's song last time I read it. Who knows. I will try though. Forgive me and Delvis.. We had to do something to entertain because this book did not do enough to warrant an entertaining review.

Silliness checked. Now on to more serious things.

i think it is okay to pick from the 2 i read that are called "Bachelor Undone" & "Bachelor Unclaimed" ... 'cause i am the reader and that is how i roll. which did you enjoy?? i preferred book #4 a bit more ... so Bachelor Unclaimed. check this series out. this is the cover i did read ...so i am going there. lots of editions to pick from. read it through my local library leaning program. i explain last time i read a bunch of Brenda's book through the same platform ... i did have to pick of the ones i did read. so i read this one ... Claimed for Destiny (why do i wanna write Dinner ... Claimed for Dinner. there authors that is title for ya!! lol.) as well as ... Bane #27 in series, Perfect Timing, Bachelor Undone #3, and Bachelor Unclaimed #4. now you might wonder why i did pick these ... well on the platform they were recommended and i was curious by the cover and title of the books. so my fave: "Perfect Timing" was a bit higher for me ... gosh ...that was a tough decision. gotta run ...books and life to be working on ... laters.

Writing this "review" 3-14-21 despite having read it ~6 months ago >.<

:X Ah.
So this book is the one with the shady movie person
[as opposed to whatever previous book I'd just ~reviewed and thought that...]

They're ~frenemies ...
/not friends but connected BY their friends [her bestie is married to his godbrother?]

It was annoying how Darcy refused to listen to York's warnings ...

I'm sure he was ~problematic in some ways but :X
I don't remember much other than the weird movie aspect.

Literally nothing of their reconciliation etc.
:X oops. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Can't rate or even range this book.

Enjoyable read involving two former nemeses who find themselves on a roller-coaster ride from mutual hate to mutual heat against a tropical backdrop on the beautiful island of Jamaica. Darcy and York are two gorgeous, headstrong individuals who thrive on excitement, adventure, and lust in the right environment. While vacationing and working, respectively, in Jamaica, they discover that their previous disdain for one another merely had been a mask for their true feelings, leading them to a further awakening of desire and passion that they never knew existed...until now. Both protagonists are likable in their own way and cause the reader to root for their eventual HEA. 🥰

It took me this long to get to Bachelor Undone because it's a book by Brenda Jackson. See, Brenda Jackson is the black romance equivalent to Jayne Ann Krentz. She's the biggest black author to break into white-washed mainstream market of sorts - the Desire line - and while this is baby step to most people, it's like Nora Roberts hitting the mainstream consciousness when you place Ms Jackson's success in its proper context. And just like Jayne Ann Krentz, Ms Jackson has been writing the same story and the same characters for at least five hundred years.

To many online folks, Ms Jackson may not be as recognizable as, say, Barbara Samuels and Suzanne Brockmann when they are asked by Jay Leno, "Can you name me one author of black romance, since you say that you are really keen on reading multicultural romances?" but if you ask anyone who actually reads black romances, then yes, Brenda Jackson is huge. And hugely repetitive.

Bachelor Undone is part of the Bachelors In Demand series, in which six guys - when it comes to series, this author doesn't just stop at three books - call themselves Bachelors in Demand without any sense of self-awareness whatsoever, as they know they are hot and they want to catch all the honeys in the block without being caught themselves. If that sounds disgusting, you must remember: in the beautiful world of Kimani romance, rampant promiscuity in handsome and rich males is a virtue, as this is a sign that they are man enough to handle our woman and knock her up with many, many, many, many, many fat cute babies. I have not read previous books in this series, and I still understand this story well enough to be disgusted by it, so I guess I can safely say that this story can stand alone quite well.

Cutting aside the sequel bait "Look at me! I'm pregnant by my hot husband! I'm a hot guy that will knock up some damsel in distress in the next book! Look at us and buy our books!" nonsense that clutter this book - just like with every other book by this author - I get the story of Darcy Owens who goes to Jamaica to get some R&R when she meets the man she detests but secretly finds hot, York Ellis. York is in town to investigate on behalf of his friend some hanky-panky in a film set that causes bootleg reels to be leaked online, and it just happens that his prime suspect is itching for Darcy. Darcy is warned by York to stay away from that guy, but because she hates him even as she wants him, she will not be told, so there! These two argue, bicker, have sex, repeat and rinse, and then they break up, and get back together to get married in the end. Like I said, it's just like every other book by this author.

Darcy is That Heroine, and York is That Guy. Here, however, the more irritating aspects of being That Stereotype are amplified to a mystifying but painful degree. Darcy is feisty in a horrible way - she will not be told what to do, even if it makes sense to just follow the advice, just because. Sure, she can take care of herself, but she is also petulant and immature to the point that she resembles a child having a temper tantrum more than anything else.

York is a bigger problem. Now, every Kimani book routinely calls its hero "alpha male" and "playboy" even when, sometimes, the book has a hero that is anything but. Here, however, the warning is right there on the box - "supremely arrogant" York is an unpleasant control freak. If you like this sort of heroes, great, this book would be easier on your nerves than it was on mine. If not, be careful. York has a complex about women "rightfully" being protected from harm to the point that he yells at Darcy in front of the cops after he discovers that she has single-handedly taken down a thief trying to break into her place. It is better, in his mind, that she cowers and hides herself because, that way, she will be safe.

This attitude throughout the book. Darcy is troublesome because she wants to do things her own way; she doesn't know her place because she wants to take care of herself. Darcy can take care of herself, so his attitude ends up being horribly patronizing and even offensive. He considers a woman's independence a flaw, basically, and I never warm up to him as a result. Okay, honestly, I find him overbearing and obnoxious, and I would love to introduce his gonads to a wood chipper. Unsurprisingly, he never considers her wishes when it comes to making a decision for them, as, what with him being a mighty male, he should be in charge always as, you know, women are weak and must be kept safe, those poor creatures.

There isn't much of a romance here, as he's basically shagging the heroine to make her forget those other guys she seems to be paying attention to, and she's just boinking him because he's so hot. I don't see any emotional connection here, so I can only raise a brow when these two decide to get married by the last page.

Bachelor Undone is similar to the author's previous books, but with the bonus of an overbearing control freak of a hero to sweeten the deal. How that would go down, that depends on your threshold for the author's brand of formula. I won't lose too much sleep worrying about this if I were you - at the rate the author cranks out books, there will be six new-but-still-familiar books from her out on the shelves by the time you make up your mind, so it's not like missing out on this book would be a great loss. So take your time: count your pennies, dig your nose... unless you really have a thing for control freak assholes, that is.

Brenda Does Not Disappoint

I think I have re- read many of Brenda Jackson’s book, and not sure how I missed leaving a review. This is one of my favorite series, and each bachelor sizzles off the page. I can’t decide which one is my favorite. I love everything about this storyline and the romance is off the charts.

Darcy and York were like oil and vinegar, best kept apart. Until one night in tropical paradise, they !singled and merged, and from that point on, it was only a matter of time until the third member of the Bachelors Club surrendered to love! Read the book to discover the details!!

WOW!!!! I think this must be the first book I've read/listened to by Brenda Jackson and it sizzled! She is giving Zane a run for her money. Darcy & York Both from New York and quite a few friends in common but they do not get a long! Darcy is taking a long overdue vacation in Jamaica and York is there on business. So of course they run in to each other and.... the sparks!!! the fire...

Just OK

This is the first romance novel by Jackson where I felt there was too much sex and too little storyline. I like the character development fine enough. But really miss the non-sexual storyline development I have come really enjoy in a Jackson book. Still enjoyed the book.
