Hi! I'm twenty five years old and movie star gorgeous. The camera added thirty plus years and a few wrinkles. Can't trust those cameras or mirrors either. Along with bathroom scales they are notorious liars! Honestly, I am the mother of three fantastic grown children who've made me laugh and given me more story ideas than I could ever write. My husband, Charles, is my strongest supporter and my best friend. He's even willing to eat fast food and help with the laundry while I finish one more chapter! Life is good and I am blessed!

Reading has been a passion since I was five years old and figured out those were words on book pages. As soon as my chubby little fingers found they could put words on a Big Chief tablet with a fat pencil, I was on my way. Writing joined reading in my list of passions. I will read anything from the back of the Cheerio's box to Faulkner and love every bit of it. In addition to reading I enjoy cooking, my family and the ocean. I love the Florida beaches. Listening to the ocean waves puts my writing brain into high gear.

I love writing romance because it's about emotions and relationships. Human nature hasn't changed a bit since Eve coveted the fruit in the Garden of Eden. Settings change. Plots change. Names change. Times change. But love is love and men and women have been falling in and out of it forever. Romance is about emotions: love, hate, anger, laughter... all of it. If I can make you laugh until your sides ache or grab a tissue then I've touched your emotions and accomplished what every writer sets out to do.

I got serious about writing when my third child was born and had her days and nights mixed up. I had to stay up all night anyway and it was very quiet so I invested in a spiral back notebook and sharpened a few pencils. The story that emerged has never sold but it's brought in enough rejection slips to put the Redwood Forest on the endangered list. In 1997 Kensington bought two books for their Precious Gems line. Two years and six books later the line died with only four of those books seeing publication. But by then Avalon had bought a book and another, and another. Ten years later the list has grown to thirty nine. Last year Sourcebooks bought the Lucky Series which is in the bookstores now. They've also bought The Honky Tonk Series which will debut with I LOVE THIS BAR in June and will be followed by HELL, YEAH, MY GIVE A DAMN'S BUSTED, and HONKY TONK CHRISTMAS.

Folks ask me where I get my ideas. Three kids, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Note: I was a very young grandmother! Life is a zoo around here when they all come home. In one Sunday afternoon there's enough ideas to keep me writing for years and years. Seriously, ideas pop up at the craziest times. When one sinks its roots into my mind, I have no choice but to write the story. And while I'm writing the characters peek over my shoulder and make sure I'm telling it right and not exaggerating too much. Pesky little devils, they are!

I have a wonderful agent, Erin Niumata, who continues to work magic and sell my work. I'm very lucky to have her and my editors who continue to believe in me.

Happy reading!

Good book about two people who strike sparks from each other from the beginning but resist what fate is trying to tell them. Fancy has moved to Texas from Florida to take care of her grandmother. She has a job lined up, and her two childhood best friends are there also. Her stay gets off to a rocky start when a chance encounter with a black cat puts her in direct conflict with Theron, school principal, rancher, and part-time cop.

Theron works multiple jobs to pay the bills and the note on his ranch. He doesn't have the time or inclination to get involved with a woman. He had been briefly married and it was a painful enough experience that he will never do it again. Meeting Fancy throws his well-ordered life into turmoil.

Fancy and Theron's first meeting had me laughing out loud. Her attempt to avoid hitting a black cat ended up with her arrested for underage drinking and reckless driving. No matter how she tried to convince him, Theron refused to believe that she was a thirty-year-old woman with a broken bottle of almond extract in her car. Theron definitely came across as judgmental and rigid, while Fancy was argumentative and snarky. I loved the whole "call your parents" thing and laughed out loud when Theron had to eat his words. They parted ways, hoping to avoid any future contact, but fate had other plans.

Fancy sees Theron again at her final interview for the schoolteacher position, where he is the principal. When that job goes to someone else, Fancy blames him. Then they meet yet again when Fancy is tasked with helping out a Sunday School class, where Theron is also the teacher. Two stubborn people butt heads, and the sparks fly.

I loved the development of Fancy and Theron's relationship, which they fought tooth and nail to the end. I liked the way that Theron found himself offering help and comfort to Fancy as she deals first with her grandmother's hostility, then with her death. He doesn't know why he does it; he simply can't resist the urge. Fancy is equally surprised by how much she wants that comfort. Neither one can deny the attraction that is between them. I liked their openness with each other about their expectations. Fancy wants a "forever thing"; a man that is willing to commit past the simple statement of love. Theron is clear on the fact that he will never marry again having been burned once already. But when Theron is given custody of a three-year-old daughter he didn't know existed, it is Fancy he turns to for help.

I loved the way that Fancy dropped everything to help Theron with little Tina. His determination to do right by the little girl opened Fancy's eyes to a completely different side of Theron. It was sweet to see the way that the two worked together. It didn't take long for the three of them to feel like a family. Fancy realized that she had fallen hard for Theron, but didn't see a future in it because of his attitude toward marrying again. Theron wanted Fancy to stay, but couldn't bring himself to admit his feelings. I ached for them both as it looked as though they were going to throw away a terrific future. I liked how Fancy did some honest soul-searching at the end, discovering that maybe she'd been a bit unbending in her requirements. I loved Theron's big moment as all his practiced speeches went out of his head and he spoke from the heart.

The secondary characters were all very well done. Fancy's grandmother Hattie was a horrible person. I ached for Fancy and her mother Gwen having to deal with the woman all their lives. The things that Hattie told Fancy emphasized just how bad she was. I liked the way that Theron, Sophie, and Kate helped Fancy through the worse of it. I also loved the beauty-shop ladies. They were a fun mix of small-town matriarchs with a variety of attitudes and personalities. I loved the way they came together for Fancy both when Hattie died and when Fancy was taking care of Tina. Fancy's friends Sophie and Kate were terrific also. All three had been good friends as teenagers and stayed in touch as adults. I loved how they could tease each other one minute and provide emotional support the next. It was fun to see how they caught the feelings growing between Theron and Fancy long before the couple did.

I liked how important family was to both Fancy and Theron. Fancy came to Texas to take care of Hattie, even though she knew it would be a thankless task. She did it to make things easier for her mother. I loved the closeness between Fancy and Gwen. Theron's family was also a big part of his life. I loved his care for Uncle Joe, and the Christmas scenes with them were heartfelt and emotional. I also liked Theron's parents and sister. Their immediate acceptance of both Tina and Fancy was great. I also loved the various insights they gave to Fancy about Theron and who he is. I loved the straight talk Theron got from his father and the unexpected news that he got that changed the way he looked at his future.

Fancy and Theron

When Fancy came back to Texas to care for her grandmother after she broke her hip, she never imaged all the changes that would occur for her and her life.
Theron is die hard bachelor who doesn't want to marry ever again. But after he has found out about a daughter he never knew he had, he needs Fancy's help from day one.
The disagreements between the two will keep you laughing a lot.
I feel like this book is just written for me because about the Texas Roadhouse which is my favorite place to eat steak. It also talks about the Cracker Barrel restaurant where I go to eat chicken and dumplings with an apple dumplings to take home for breakfast.
Thank you Carolyn for another remarkable story.

This was a nice read, totally unexpected, I borrow this book without knowing what was about but I really enjoy it so much.

I love Carolyns writing and A forever thing was not the exception, I like that is romantic and has a little bit of angst but the passion is there and the empathy and love and kindness of the characters too.

I really enjoy the story it was a good read, and definitely left me wanting more.

I didn't like it, but I didn't dislike it. It was more of a "meh".

The book emphasized Fancy wanting a "forever thing". I was never really sure what that meant to her. It seemed like love and commitment were not enough. Theron felt like he would never again make a long term commitment. There was an HEA, but it took an interesting path.

I did feel chemistry between Theron and Fancy at the beginning, but it was not strong. It developed over time. They argued a lot and jumped to conclusions, which was irritating. The grandmother was an awfully selfish person

I ended up thinking of this book like white noise interspersed with little bursts of sound. Those bursts were Theron's daughter, Echo; the beauty salon ladies; and Sophie and Kate.

I don't know the size of this town, but Theron held 3 or 4 jobs. Deputy, school principal, deacon, and rancher. This took something away from the book for me.

I don't think of romance when I think of this book. Although this book was slightly boring, I am planning on reading book two. I have found that with some series, the subsequent books are better.

This was such a cute fun read! I loved Fancy’s personality and how take no shit attitude. I was happy to see Theron finally got his head out of his ass and realized what he felt and what he was going to be missing out on. Fancy, Theron and Tina were all just too cute. I will be continuing the series to see what happens next

Fancy wants a forever thing, when a man says he loves her he should want to be with her for the rest of his life. When she moved out of Texas as a teenager to live in Florida with her mother, Fancy left part of her heart behind. Now she’s back in Albany to take care of her ill grandmother. Being back in town starts with a lot of trouble, Theron, the local cop and elementary school principal is causing difficulties for Fancy. To make the situation worse, Fancy’s grandmother isn’t happy with the arrival of her granddaughter. The job Fancy thought was a sure thing falls through, so nothing goes according to plan. Will something, or someone, be able to keep Fancy in Texas?

Theron isn’t looking for love. Having his heart broken once was enough. He doesn’t want to risk falling for another woman and doesn’t easily trust any longer. When he keeps running into Fancy he has to admit spending time with her is making him feel alive once more, but Fancy isn’t in Albany to stay and she wants a future with someone who can promise her a forever thing, which is exactly what Theron isn’t willing to offer a woman anymore. They can’t stay away from each other though, what will happen when their feelings become too strong to ignore?

A Forever Thing is a heartwarming romantic story. I absolutely loved the main characters. Fancy is a great kindhearted woman. She’s sweet, sassy and fiery and I liked her spunk a lot. Theron is a hardworking man with a fabulous gentle and sparkling personality. They’re perfect for each other, there’s plenty of chemistry and their love is beautifully true and pure. I loved how they challenge one another and enjoyed every single word of their entertaining dialogue. I couldn’t wait to find out if they’d find their happily ever after together and adored their feelgood love story.

Carolyn Brown has a wonderful warm writing style. Her stories are filled with charm, energy and unconditional love. I like how she creates the perfect atmosphere. She makes her settings come to life in a gorgeous way and each description is thorough and vibrant. I fell in love with A Forever Thing straight from the start and had a big smile on my face from beginning to end. I liked the emotional depth of the story mixed with clever wittiness, there are serious parts and laugh out loud moments and that combination works really well. I highly recommend A Forever Thing, it’s a terrific endearing story filled with delightful surprises and joy.

A sweet PG type small town romance

This book was much more tame in comparison to most books I read, but I still found it to be endearing. If you are looking for a simple, light romantic without any vulgarity this one will do the trick. There was no profanity, no sex (a couple kisses were shared but that was it), no unnecessary angst, drinking alcohol etc. Like I said earlier, simple and sweet. Lots of talk about going to church, Sunday school class, trips to the local Dairy Queen etc. My one complaint, which is minor, is that the daughter "Tina" was supposedly 2 almost 3 years old. I have spent time with tons of children in my days, and this little girl felt much more like an 8-9 year old. The dialogue and way she acted NEVER at every point had me thinking this was a small toddler. Overall, it was just a cute light hearted romance.

This story was just fine, but it wasn't for me. I appreciated how clean it was, both in content and language, but it was boring. The way the story unfolded was lackluster and boring. The writing failed to engage me and I found myself not really caring what happened to any of the characters, which was sad.

A Forever Thing is written by Caroline Brown. This is one of a trilogy about three young ladies who have been friends since they were in grade school. They have decided they would not marry a man unless he incorporated their magic words into his proposal. Each of their magic words was different. Fancy wanted a man to promise her “a forever thing”; Sophie wanted “a life after wife”: and Kate wanted “in shining whatever”. Would they find them?
Fancy had come to town to stay with her Granny after she came home from the nursing home. She had quit her job in Florida and had an interview for a job here at the elementary school. As she drove into town, aa black car crossed in front of her. As she swerved to miss it, a bottle of almond extract hit the floor and broke. She was then stopped by the police. He thought, from the smell, that she has been drinking and was using a false license. When she refused to admit it was a false license, he took her into jail until he called her parents and found out she was legit. That set the tone for her future meetings with Theron Walker. Her next meeting with him was when she went to her interview for the school. He was the elementary principal and was there when the board told her she was out of a job. She was pretty discouraged when she went to see Granny in the nursing home. Here, she asked her mean-tempered Granny why she didn’t seem to like Fancy or her Mother. Unfortunately, Granny told her and then put her and her Mother on a “ Do not allow as visitor “ list. At least now she knew why. Can things get worse?
Theron Walker did want to hire Fancy; but the board overruled her. However, he knew he should stay away from her; but he couldn’t. Then, he got a call from his ex-wife giving him just hours to get to his cabin in the woods before she gave their daughter to her sister. This was a definite shock since he had no idea he was a father. However, he rushed to her rescue and asked Fancy to go with him since the little girl didn’t know her. Will they get there in time to get the little girl? What will happen then?

Fancy and Theron

I like Fancy- she's fiesty, full of spunk and speaks her mind.

Theron- is a by the books kind of guy. Dependent and holds a bit of a grudge.

When Fancy returns to Texas to care for her ungrateful granny she begins a new chapter in her life that begins with a series of unfortunate events involving Theron.

I love and was angered by this couple. Cute banter, raw passion, stubbornness, set in their own ways, and the perfect fit to the other- but can they see it? They almost missed the boat on this one. But thankfully after hours of tears managed to not miss the target.

Tina is adorable- I want to wrap her up with bows.

This story is beautfully crafted so you feel submerged into Texas life. With the Texan drawl, mannerisms, and speech makes you feel right apart of the action.

I have to laugh at the oddity of their heights-not usual for most stories I have read prior.

This is a clean story without any sensuality but it doesnt prevent you from feeling the passion lift of the pages.

I really enjoyed this. Some laughs, cringes and some tears too. Could make for a hallmark movie.

Magic!

Theron and Fancy meet in an inauspicious way, and sparks start to fly! However, not the kind that usually end up in a romantic way! Fancy returns to her old hometown to take care of her ailing grandmother and teach school. On the way into town she is stopped by a police officer who thinks she has been drinking, but is also under age! They have words while she tries to tell him the truth, but he's having none of it! She accuses him of having "short man syndrome" and its eventually proven that she did not lie to him! The next time she meets this cop is at an interview for a teaching position and finds out not only is he the cop who stopped her, but he's also the school principal! And needless to say, she does not get the job! Then to make matters worse, her cold, unloving grandmother tells her why she didn't love her daughter or her granddaughter, and wants her to get out of her house, and go back to Florida! Her longtime friends help her emotionally and then her life takes a turn she never saw coming! This is another great read!

First grade teacher Fancy Lynn Sawyer left Florida to help her crochety, elderly grandmother in Texas, luckily Fancy’s two best friends had also made their way back to the little town they grew up in. Since things have a way of going wacky, as soon as a black cat crosses Fancy’s path, things start to go wacky.

Almost simultaneously, Fancy slams on the car brake, she breaks a bottle of almond extract that convinces officer/deacon/school principal Theron Warren Fancy must’ve been drinking. It’s off to jail for you, young lady. So begins romantic dance of this pair.

As Fancy and her friends are single and in their 30’s, each woman is looking for her own kind of future and for Fancy, it’s a forever thing with a tall, blue-eyed blond. What she got was a short, green-eyed brunette. Add a cute toddler, circumstances beyond their control, a favor here and there, love & denial, and there you go, a winner in this read.

Forever Takes Awhile

Fancy Lynn comes back to Texas to take care of her grandmother. As she pulls into town, she is stopped by a policeman, Theron Warren. Fancy Lynn and Theron find that their personalities do not mesh.
Fancy Lynn goes to the school the next day to sign her contract and there sits Theron Warren, the principal of the school.
Wherever they go, they meet. Both resist falling for the other, but when Theron finds out he has a three year old daughter, he turns to Fancy Lynn for help. From one look at his daughter, both begin to fall in love with the child and each other.
Brown has written a beautiful love story for the ages.

It was sweet

I loved Part 1 of ‘A Three Magic Words Romance’ I didn’t know if this was Part 2 or 3 cuz I read Sophie’s story before..the point I’m making is I loved all three books but it was done weird, like in reverse? If you’ve read them or will read you’ll understand. I love Kate’s first, but that should have been the last book, Sophie 3rd and Fancy 2nd...So that’s why I was not liking the way they were labeled. That’s not picky it’s called SAGA...
Would highly recommend any of these ‘three magic words romance’ no matter 👍

This was a pretty good book. I resent that the short girl had to end up with a REALLY short guy. Why should she? Besides he needs to get some height in his family.

The worst thing about this book was the 2-3 year old. Some of her dialogue was too advanced for even a smart child. The concepts not the vocabulary were beyond the understanding and mental capabilities of a child that young. And of course it is always annoying when an adult tries to sound like a small child. This Audible narrator did a pretty good job. But sometimes it got irritating.

Enjoyable fun story

I finished this story with a smile on my face from ear to ear. It started with me chuckling, When the sheriff pulled over The heroin and thought she was underage drinking. In fact from that point on which was the very beginning it just kind of sucked me in so the story was Captivating. I was excited to see what would happen. And the story had some emotion also. It followed real life Because not everyone's always happy not everyone is happy with their situation and is a happy person. It's definitely worth the read.

I love Carolyn Brown books! The characters reach out to the reader and draw you into the story. This book was no different than her others in that respect. The story flows from heartbreaking familia to the promise of love and redemption. Fancy and Therion meet under adverse conditions and after the battling of two strong personalities they bond over a precious three year old daughter that Therion didn't know existed. Welcome to Texas, folks! This is another winner. The narrative was beautifully done also.

This was a cute Read i Love the Way Fancy and echo Bonded... Just Theron was a bit too Judgemental and bullheaded for me to get fully on board with Him, Not to Mention Fancy's Grandmother i was hoping there was Just a bit more to that whole history.

Fancy Moves Back to her Hometown to Help out her Ailing Grandmother and Meets Cop/Rancher/Policeman Theron as they start off on the wrong foot. Slowly a friendship Forms and when Theron is at his most Vulnerable its Fancy he calls.....

i did enjoy it but it wasnt epic or a four star read either..... soe 3.5 rounded to four

I liked it

I really liked the overall story and i listened to the audio book and the reader did a great job. One thing that had me stumbling was the going back in forth within the writing. One second we were in therons head, the next in fancys head and all within the same paragraph. Its just something im not used to is all. Im heading off to the rest of the books and hopefully the next few heros are a little taller.

A bad beginning to a happy end

Theron is a part time policeman, full time school principal and Sunday school teacher into Albany, Texas. Fancy is returning to Albany to take care of her aging grandmother and teach at the Albany school. The two meet when Theron observes Fancy trying to avoid hitting a black cat with her car and thinks she may have been drinking! What follows is a cute story of two people playing a cat and mouse game trying to avoid falling in love.

Great book

I can't began to describe all the ups and downs of this story. Three generations of surprises, good and bad, centering around Fancy and Theron. This book is the usual all inclusive life story of relationships, family, friendships, life, death, love and joy. I don't like to give detail that discourage you from read the book, just trust me it won't be a disappointment if you enjoy changes, surprises and happy endings!!

A Beautiful Story of Love!

Audio Version - This is the first book I have listened to by Carolyn Brown and it was a real treat. I like a good feel good story every now and again and this hit the spot without being too mushy or predictable. It is the first in a series of three romance novels and I very much look forward to listening to the next instalment. I would definitely recommend.

Of course she did

Interesting how abandonment issues and mommy issues dominate the main characters here. But opening with the guy who becomes the groom arresting the bride to be was all kind of whack which is what our author specializes in. So here’s the first in the series to be quickly followed by the second to catch up with the third. Lifelong friends is also a recurring theme with romance and Christian romance writers.

Thoroughly enjoyable

I ended up getting this series in reverse order but it didn't hurt the enjoyment of the books whatsoever. I love the narrator in the audible edition and enjoyed listening to all of these while on a road trip. The characters are so rich and well rounded and the dialogue is full of witty banter. You won't regret starting anything by this author.

Wonderful.

It's such a lovely story. Makes me sigh. Makes me smile.
Entertains me, when I just want a good read. A good read that isn't filled with too much significance.
This, is a simple tale. It's a life story.
And I've always found that life, is incredibly engrossing.

Now... I'm off to buy the next in the series.

DNF ... is the hero, like, 5'4" or something?!? The heroine said she was "finally" over 5' when in heels, and she accused the hero of having a Napoleon complex, like all other short men. And then the hero talks about how it was odd he had to look down at the heroine, since most women were taller than him by anywhere from 1-6 inches?!?!

A Forever Thing

I absolutely love this book. Carolyn is a wonderful writer. She tells fabulous love stories. Her characters are engaging with great bantering. The older beauty parlor ladies were very entertaining. Little Tina was so sweet. I just wanted to hug her. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
