Yesterday’s Daughter is full of suspense and surprises as the plot develops. It holds a mirror to contemporary society so we can consider our feelings about people who seem different from us, the assumptions we may make about other groups, and the consequences of those assumptions. Yesterday’s Daughter is an emotionally laden paranormal vampire romance novel woven with layers of betrayal, love and loss. Grace Stone, who later learns her true identity is Sapphira, is a loner who survives abuse in the foster care system after being abandoned as a child. A brilliant student, she escapes from her brutal foster parents as a teenager and creates a life for herself. But, her life is little more than existence; plagued with questions about what she really is, a family that she has never known and the never-ending need to keep her differences hidden. She is alone and lonely, believing it will always remain so until Malachi appears in her life. Malachi, a Guardian of the vampire communities, has searched for his life mate, Sapphira, for decades. He refuses to cease searching for Sapphira even though she is believed dead by all. Conflict arises over the decades between Malachi and his family because of his refusals to accept another mate. But his very soul drives him on to continue his search, knowing that he could not exist if Sapphira were not in the world, somewhere.

First off I have to say that the cover of this book is absolutely stunning. And guess what? So is the book!
From reading the blurb, I thought to myself “oh geez, not another vampire love story”. Surprise, surprise! It is another vampire story, but not just any vampire story. It’s a unique tale with a different set of vampires which breaks away from the norm and takes the reader into a wonderful new world with an unusual culture and set of rules, unlike any other vampire novel I’ve read in the past few months.
This author’s writing style is much different to that which I’m accustomed to, and it took me about two or three chapters to get into to it; but for me it added to the beauty and style of the book. She also efficiently alternates between the different viewpoints of characters, and thus successfully avoids confusing the reader.
The main character, Grace, lives up to her name and really is a very “graceful” character. She has emotional boundaries that few other characters in the book can breach, but she lets the reader in on her thoughts and feelings, and into her world from page one. The second main character - and Grace’s love interest - Malachi is the epitome of everything we dream to see in the love of our lives. If you’re sick and tired of reading about perfect vampires, then this is the one that will have you falling madly in love with “perfect” all over again. I’m not going to spoil it and tell you why...
What also stood out for me and kept me turning the pages at a steady pace, was the background stories for each of the main role players. I found it fascinating, informative and it helped shape the characters so I could really get to know and understand them as I was following the story.
Why should you purchase this book or add it to your wishlist? Because it’s an action-packed, fast paced, sweet paranormal romance with unforgettable characters and a gripping plot with an ending that makes every minute spent reading this book worth it. And if that isn’t enough, the reader can also look forward to nail-biting intrigue, mystery, tons of secrets and the devil of it all – betrayal. The dialogue is superb and suites the characters and tone of the book perfectly. I won’t think twice giving this book to my dearest friends and family as a gift.
Taking into account that “Yesterday’s Daughter” is Sallie Lundy-Frommer’s debut novel and how splendidly it’s written, I am looking forward to seeing what she will offer her readers next. I found her elegant writing style unique and refreshing, and was left for days after finishing the book, with the same thought going through my mind again and again – this lady can write!
I was contacted by Tribute Books to participate in a Blog Tour for "Yesterday's Daughter". I definitely couldn't pass it up. I'm always up for reading a book from a new author who I have never read from. From the minute I picked up the book, I knew it was not like any other book I've read before. Sallie Lundy-Frommer takes you into a Paranormal World where Vampires are destined to have "Life Mates". They also feed from each other to sustain the best nutrients...not from humans. ***Spoiler Alert****She also throws in human villains who want nothing more, but to have the blood from Vampires to become an immortal themselves. Your first introduced to the character Grace aka "Sapphira" (which I have to say is a Beautiful name and fits the character very well.) She has no idea where she came from since she was thrown into Foster care when she was a child. She knows she's different, but she's not sure why. She drinks blood...which she has no idea why. Until one day, she happens to run into Malachi in her home. Malachi is no one she's ever met before and he starts fitting in the pieces on what she is and that she is destined to be with him. She's starting to believe him because she has dreamed of him before, but she doesn't know why. Malachi warns her though, that their our things out there that want to hurt her and he wants to take her back to their world so he can protect her. That's when all hell breaks loose and we find out there's other things that bump in the night...and poor Grace has to deal with things she's not used to...but Malachi does everything in his power to help her through it. Sallie Lundy-Frommer definitely has a different writing style then I'm used to. I was a little confused at first when reading it because it would jump back and forth from different characters points of views. I would have to back track and read over a certain page again to catch up and find out what exactly happened. Although, it is a great thing she did that because you get all aspects of what's going on and what happens when it leads to the ending of the book. You'll be in "Awe" at the end of the book when you find out what actually happened to Grace and why she was separated from her Vampire World. I wanted to jump into the book and kick some ass for her. I just have to say this to end my review...Malachi stole my heart in this book and he definitely is a perfect "Life Mate" to have. I'm jealous of Grace "Sapphira" for having him. I look forward to reading the next book from Sallie Lundy-Frommer and finding out what is up next for the characters.
A really amazing vampire romance. It has a little of everything in it action, comedy, romance, betrayel, friendship, and a family feud as well :D Hehe I really need to figure out where all these, hot, strong, vampire men hide out at. I don't blame the girl for falling for him instantly, he's so sweet, hot, and I think I may need to stop this review now, lol. Taking from her family at a young age and left in the care of humans, losing all of her memories of her childhood does not help her neither. Good thing her vampire hereo found her *drool*. Ok, I am done here, enjoy reading this wonderful story, I so can not wait for a part 2 :D
Yesterday’s Daughter by Sallie Lundy-Frommer is a fabulous paranormal romance novel; I have to say that this book was a real surprise. She created a world where I as reader would love to be a part of.
Grace Stone is a young woman who was found as a small girl with no memories of her family, so she grew up in foster homes. She discovered at an early age that she was different from other girl’s her age, so at age seventeen she got out on her own and made her own living and put herself to college. She thinks she is a vampire, because she is sensitive to sunlight and she has a craving for blood. Her life is about to change when she meets Malachi.
Malachi is one of the guardians of the vampire population and has been searching for Grace, his long lost life mate. Everyone thought she was killed as a child, but Malachi never believed that and spend his life searching. Now he finally found her and the only thing for him to do is tell her about her past and her true destiny among their people. But first they have to fight against the Harvesters, who set their eyes on Grace.
This novel is well written and had many things that I loved to find in a good read. This story was filled with betrayal, secrets, lost love and great companionship. Ms. Lundy-Frommer is a new author for me, but I’m definitely going to put her on my list for the future. The way she builds this world and created these fabulous characters is amazing.
COVER LOVE!!! I loved this cover from the 1st time I saw it, but I avoided the book in the beginning because I've had my fill of Vampire Love Stories. I'd like to say, you can't judge a book by it's cover, in this case you can't judge a book by the synopsis on the cover. I was blown away at how good this book was! The characters are well versed and the story well written, you will be captivated from the start. Fast paced and action packed you will not be able to put this book down until there are no more pages to read!
Grace has always known she was different, found lost and wandering the streets at an early age she was placed in Foster Care and her young life of Hell ensued. Developing a sensitivity to the sun at an early age and a taste for blood, she always knew she was a vampire.
Malachi is a Guardian for his people, his people are Vampires, he is on a life long search for his "life mate" (soul mate) Sapphira, while fulfilling his duties as a Guardian and protecting his people from the "Harvesters". Harvesters are just that, they are humans that Harvest the blood of vampires, consuming they extend their life and their strength.
What unfolds between the pages of this beautiful book is a story of Love, Loss and Betrayal that will leave your head spinning. Frommer keeps you guessing up until the very end as to who the Betrayer is and why. This book is a MUST READ for any fans of Paranormal, Romance and Vampires (or all of the above!). 5/5
Sallie Lundy-Frommer builds mystery from page one. She paints a realistic portrait of a less ordinary life. Yesterday's Daughter uses well placed inner voice to convey a heart felt story. This love story wrapped in a romance for romance lovers. It is well written for it's audience and has a particular allure in that genre. It is truly well suited for anyone that has a longing in their hearts for something a little different.

Review of Yesterday’s Daughter by Sallie Lundy-Frommer 4 Stars
Not quite sure what to expect of this novel, I found myself pleasantly surprised. The author takes a somewhat different view of vampires, and sets them (and their hunters) in a contemporary society which could easily pass for our own reality. What is unusual and different in this case is that these particular vampires are a species, sometimes solitary, sometimes living among humankind; have a religion (monotheistic at that), have a priestly sect, practice rituals (arranged marriages in some cases, etc.). But also these likable vampires (who do NOT live on human blood) are hunted by an “evil” group which on the one hand decries the vampires as beastly; and on the other hand, themselves abduct the vampires whenever possible and drain their blood to consume for themselves to extend life spans.
Grace, a charming protagonist, grew up in foster care, not remembering her life before a certain age, when she was discovered living on the streets. She took online schooling to become a morgue technician, and is considered a valuable and intuitive worker. Of course, some consider her insistence on working only night shifts odd, but it is not until the arrival of a new Chief of Staff at the hospital, Dr. Shelton, that she is put in the position of being the object of intense attention. Simultaneously she is introduced to the vampire culture, via the appearance of Malachi, the man to whom as a toddler she was pledged by the vampire priestly sect, the Shotar.
“Yesterday’s Daughter” is an enjoyable and enticing read for any fans of Paranormal and Paranormal Romance.
This copy was provided to me by Books4Tomorrow in exchange for my fair, honest, and authentic review.
This novel has an interesting concept of vampires living alongside of humans while having a complete and separate society. Malachi’s world is a bit complicated and difficult for the reader to understand and the descriptions take away from the story a little at times, but overall, the story is very enjoyable and interesting. I really liked Grace most of all. She is a strong and independent woman who overcomes much in her life and is determined to find happiness.
Can I say WOW and I am so in love with Malachi, I fell in love with these characters Grace/Sapphira and her relationship with him transfers you into a whole other world of Vampirism. She has survived abuse from the Foster care she lived in, bettered herself and had a very satisfying life until Malachi enters her world she thought it was enough. The love that these two find in each other is mesmerizing. there is some romance, family feuds, actions and lots of awesome reading. There are good guys bad guys and the guys in between lol. I say this book should be read and loved and I want more. Thanks Sallie for an awesome book.
Iam half way threw and iam loving it! So iam done with this book, and it was so good! I love the world that Grace lives in,ad when she finds her true love and learns all the things that she didnt know,it was awesome. If yo havent read it you need to buy it now! Iam looking forward to the next book and learning more about Yesterday's Daughter"s World.
Good book...I recommend for any romantic vampire lovers out there...I think this would be a good series to follow(I don't know if it is going to be one..but would be a good one)
Immediately I am curious about Grace, who believes and acts as if she is a vampire. But, if it wasn’t for this strange fact becoming known right at the beginning, I am not sure if I would feel engaged in the story. I know that the beginning is the time to lay the foundation, but there is a lot of showing and not telling . I was slow to catch the rhythm of the voice of the writer. For me, at first, I was turned off by the amount of words it took to say something. But do not for one second be mistaken, this is a truly awesome book. For me, everything started picking up and falling into place at Chapter 6. At this point it is so much easier to get lost in the story. Though, I have to say that there are moments when the flow is interrupted by the overuse or repetition of certain words. Yes, this is nitpicky things to mention, but I am only mentioning these minor flaws in the hopes that it helps. I want another book by Sallie Lundy-Frommer. She is very talented, and overall this story is amazing. So on to the things I liked about this story. I really liked the original idea behind it, this was a fresh take on an old idea of vampires and vampire hunters. Some would complain about the overexplaining (maybe) but in truth it really is necessary. It is the only way to make Grace and Malachi’s love special and believable instead of quick and unfitting. There is a lot that would be missed without the knowledge gained throughout the book. At the beginning it seems a slow and unbearable pace, but the characters move you to keep going. Grace is weird. I mean, who really believes and acts as if they are a vampire without proof? But she is also a strong and great female lead. There is something about her that doesn’t become clear until Malachi comes into the picture. She has the strength to be the deadliest creature but what you see is a gentleness that is the perfect balance for Malachi. Malachi is every woman’s dream; he is strong, masculine and protective as well as sensitive and intimate. Though it is their destiny to be together, and all evidence points to Grace being dead, Malachi holds onto an unexplained hope. He doesn’t sit around waiting for Grace to come back into his life, he goes looking for her. Time did nothing to change their fate, except perhaps make them stronger for it. There are so many things that I could say about the actual story, but in truth I wasn’t completely prepared for the ending. I mean some of it I could see coming. Some of it I couldn’t and that made the story so much better for me. The ending left me wanting more of Malachi and Grace’s story because I know that there is so much yet to be discovered and I am certain that there are more obstacles to be tackled.

What would you do if you were told your life mate was dead and to get on with her life, but you know deep in your heart that you would find her? Well this was Malachi's dilemma for decades. I have to say Malachi is my perfect hero. He is a strong warrior who can be quite brutal in meeting out justice, while at the same time carries his love and tenderness in his heart for Sapphira and never gives up. Meanwhile Grace lives an orphaned life unaware of her true identity and guards her privacy to the point of paranoia trying to deal with the reality of being a vampire alone in the world. The book description / synopsis gives a good overview of the beginning of this story and I will not rehash it. I found the world building for Yesterday's Daughter fascinating and definitely a new take on the concept of vampires and their existence. For me this book had it all; there was sadness, action, joy, and passion. It is my understanding this is the beginning of a series, but it definitely had a satisfying resolution with a teasing possibility of more to come, and I definitely will be on the lookout for the next installment, eager to read the continuing saga. I loved this book, it was beautifully written, and once I started reading it did not want to put it down and would highly recommend it.
I received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.

What can I say? An amazing debut novel from a very talented author. I loved the story and was completely pulled in right from the first page. I found that I couldn't put the book down and is definately a real page turner. I even found myself staying up very late at night to finish it as I just couldn't put it down and just had to keep reading. The story has a bit of everything - romance, friendship, action, comedy, betrayal, suspense and some great plot twists. I loved Grace Stone's character straight away as I found her to be a very likeable and strong character and really felt for her at certain points in the story. I thought that this book was actually very unique in that even though this is a paranormal romance there is also a lot of action which I particularly liked and thought the balance between the two was perfect. I really hope this will be the first book in a series as I would love to read more about Sapphira and Malachi, and also with the introduction of a new species of Harvester towards the end which I think would be really interesting to read about and would love to see where this could lead. I would highly recommend Yesterday's daughter as it is definately a vampire love story with a difference and is definately worth reading.
First off, I would like to say that I love the cover! It completely captures Grace's image as described in the book! I have read a lot of vampire romance novels, but I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones I've read this year!
Grace Stone is a loner by choice. She is a very caring person, but she holds herself aloof from her colleagues at work. I felt she had an air of vulnerability about her, but as I read further, I found she had a steel core. She has a very strong character, and I liked her.
Malachi is a Guardian, a type of police officer. He has been searching for his life-mate, believing her to still be alive. He is a fantastic character. He is full of charisma and machismo. However, he is not arrogant.
This is a fantastic romance novel that is seen from many different points of view. I love the interaction between the vampires as they co-ordinate things; It reminds me of brothers and friends, rather than colleagues. I love the how the story carries you along on a journey that is not only fraught with danger and intrigue, but also is filled with love.
Sallie Lundy-Frommer has written a well penned love story that captured my attention and kept me hooked until the end. I am now wondering if it is a one off or a series, because I feel there could be more. In fact, I WANT MORE! I will be on the look out for more of her books in the future! I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a great YA paranormal romance to sweep you off your feet!
My review of Yesterday's Daughter by Sallie Lundy-Frommer
rating 5*****
This book was provided free from the author in exchange for honest literary review.
Grace can't tolerate the sun. Even the slightest exposure leaves her with first degree burns on her skin. Next, her diet is way abnormal -- she prefers bagged blood to human food. Lastly, she lives in isolation in fear that if any of her secrets are ever found out she will be locked away in a mental asylum forever. Malachi has searched the earth for decades for his lifemate. Sapphira is still alive, he feels it in his bones. Finally, he finds her in New York....her sent is everywhere in the small apartment. However, when he reveals himself to her, he realizes she has no memory of him or what she even is. Grace is really Sapphira and somehow he has to convince her that she is a vampire, she's meant to be a leader for her people, and she is meant to be his. While they learn each other and unlock mysteries of the past they have to learn how to lead their nation to victory over the others who seek to end the vampire race. This is one of those sit down to read a couple chapters and i finish the book.... it's that good. While we lear Grace is truly powerful, she is also just like an other young woman. She is unsure and sometimes awkward. She seeks acceptance almost shyly. She never gets a huge ego even when her powers emerge. Sapphira remains the true role model always loving caring and just. This is a beautiful story packed with lots of action. Very well written read!!!
Yesterdays Daughter is a vampire story with a difference. We don’t have the all knowing confident mind reading male with sparkles or ‘shit kickers’, instead we have the unsure timid female who isolates herself and doesn’t know what she is. This all changes on the day she meets her soul mate Malachi. He has been looking for her for years even though everyone believed she was dead and thought he should give up his search. Malachi now has to teach Grace all about her destiny and about the dangers of the world she is a part of.
This was a very slow off the mark book, it dragged for possibly half the story before anything happened to quicken the pace and it jumped around a bit from one perspective to another which took some getting used to. The characters are well developed though and we are given lots of info and insight to their thoughts and feelings, especially Grace who was easy to connect with because her traumatic childhood makes you want to hug her! The plot itself is well thought out, with surprising twists and unforeseen outcomes.
Sallie Lundy-Frommer definitely has the potential to become a great story teller. This is her debut novel and it is a good book although I found the writing to be inconsistent. Some areas felt over written where other scenes felt one dimensional. I think getting the balance right is something that writers learn with experience and I would enjoy to see more work by this author.
I recieved this book from the author to give an honest review!
This may have spoilers.
I truly enjoyed reading Yesterday's Daughter, there was action, comedy, suspense, and of course love. There were good guys and bad guys. Though the title did throw me off a bit on what the book was about I have nothing negative to say about it. The cover looks great I love the eyes that are on it. Yesterday's daughter is about a young woman named Grace but later on finds out her name is Sapphira (which I love the name by the way). Who is a vampire. She was raised in a foster home and never knew her parents. She works in a morgue and never knew of any other vampires. Until one day she comes home from work and finds Malachi in her apartment. Unknown to her at the moment, she is Malachi's life mate also known as a soul mate. And he knew of her parents. As their relationship evolves into love Sapphira learns that she is a guardian like Malachi and they along with the rest of the guardians fight harvesters. There is a mystery that the guardians are trying to figure out since someone has betrayed them but who could it be?
I do hope that Sallie chooses to write another book with Sapphira and Malachi because I want to know what other powers Sapphira has, and more of the relationship between them too.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a little confusing in the very beginning, when it would go to another character's point of view/story, since there was no indication (symbol) that it was changing. I did have to re-read a few paragraphs's in the beginning but once you get into the book and the author's writing style, you don't notice it as much.
The world that Sallie creates in this story was one that I really wish that I could be a part of. She created a Vampire, that was unlike any I have ever read about. Their uniqueness added to their strengths and the idea of "Lifemates" was truly amazing. The love story that transpires through this tale is one that I envied.
I loved how you got a true description and back-story of the characters which made it so believable to me and draws you into the story. You get so invested in these characters that you really hate for the story to end. I am looking forward to future books from this author and really hope that the next one is a continuation of this story.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have read a lot of vampire stories lately, and although they are all different in their own ways and I have enjoyed most of them immensely there is just something about Yesterday's Daughter that makes me want to re-read it immediately.
Unlike most vampire stories you do not find yourself with a strong, confident, all powerful, super being at the start of the story, instead you have Grace, this attractive woman who has escaped from her life in foster care, not knowing where she came from. She is unable to walk in sunlight and has a craving for blood. She suspects she might be a vampire, but refuses to ask for help in fear of being experimented on. When she meets Malachi she finally finds some answers to her questions, including her true identity as Sapphira, as well as some extra questions as to how she came to grow up in the human world.
I am eagerly awaiting the 2nd instalment in this series, and I hope at some point we get to hear of Sapphira's lost decades.
This is fantastic book and written with such flare. This is story of loss, betrayal, discovery, and of love of Malachi who has been searching decades for his life mate Sapphira. Many believe Sapphira to be dead but they are unaware that Sapphira aka Grace has been alive and has survived being abused in foster care. To becoming a teenager who strikes out on her own away from the abuse to become a young woman so full of questions about her past. As Malachi finds his lifemate and loses her to a pervert of a harvester as he kidnapps Sapphira for his pleasure to Malachi finding his love once again. To the betrayal of someone close to him who has been leaking secrets to the harvesters and those who are just seeking power. Malachi and Sapphira find as the story goes on how special Sapphira is and the hidden power she holds to save their kind. I can't wait till there is a next book.
I was given this book for free in exchange for a honest review. Yesterday's Daughter is a amazing book. One you can't miss out on reading. I have told all my friends to check it out, because if you haven't read it, you are really missing out on a amazing read. You may get a little confused in the beginning, but soon you will figure it all out. I couldn't put this book down,I read it in one day. So needless to say I was MIA for a while, lol. As a woman/girl, you will wish your man had the kind of devotion that Malachi has. I don't want to give to much away. SO prepare your self to enter the amazing world that Sallie Lundy-Frommer has made possible. I can't wait to see what she will do next. I hope you all find this book as amazing as I did. Bravo to you Mrs.Formmer! I applaud you! You have a new fan on your hands<3
Normally, this genre is NOT my schtick but I read it because I briefly knew the woman who wrote it. Sadly, though the plot was strong and the characters well developed, there was, evidently, no professional editor employed before publication. As a result, there are numerous punctuation errors throughout, at least one on every page. I found it very disturbing and frustrating, so I finally had to quit reading. Please let me know next time, Sallie, and this professional writer/editor will be happy to fix your punctuation. Your storytelling ability is so good that I'd hate to have others frustrated by your work simply because of the poor punctuation. It makes your otherwise worthy first effort at novel writing read like you're driving over a severely pot-holed roadway. BTW: Your bio on the goodreads page has some typos in it, as well.
Not your original Vampire story Yesterday's Daughter by: Sallie Lundy-Frommer... It's an amazing story of Vampires. It's not your original Vampire story this is something new an amazing. I thought I was done with all the Vampire stories, but when I read this one I couldn't put the book down, suspense, action & romance plus much, much more paranormal Sci-fi stuff, you would not believe how the author incorporated everything together. I loved it so much. Love the title, loved the characters & loved the book cover. I wanted more. Could it possibly be a book series? I hope so! I would love to read more about Sapphira and Malachi. Got to give props to the Author she did an amazing job!
I was given this book in exchange for my honest review by the author. I loved this book, because it is something new about vampires and other creatures of the night. So if your a big fan of vampire books; you will love this book as I did. This book has romance, mystery, and action what more can you want in a book right? I love the main characters Malachi and Sapphira. But what made me love this book was how the Sapphira became a very strong character. When you start reading it you won't want to put it down till you finish because that what occurred to me and left me wanting more when I finished. I gave this book five starts because it was an amazing and unique read.
Yesterday’s Daughter – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat; Think With Your Taste Buds; A Book and A Dish
Grace stared at the large stranger who filled her small apartment with his mammoth presence and suddenly felt very warm. She shook her head from side to side trying to dislodge the chaos that his words brought about. She couldn’t have heard him correctly. Had he said that he knew her parents? She didn’t have any parents. She was an orphan; that was the only thing she knew about her past. He had to be wrong! This was some kind of bad joke, wasn’t it? She started to interrupt Malachi, but he put up a hand and said, “I pled with you to listen. I know I have not handled this matter well,” he signed in frustration. “In truth, I thought I was better prepared, but I too find the situation to be most extraordinary and find myself at a loss for words.” Grace noticed how he spoke, the way he formed sentences. He spoke as if he were from a different time. Again, she started to interrupt him, but he said, “Listen please! I know your thoughts, what you must be thinking, that you grew up in foster care and that your biological parents were never found.” As he spoke, a look of great shock and bewilderment blanketed her face. No one knew that because no one knew who she really was. Who is he? How could he know so much? I ran away from my foster parents years ago. Is he a blackmailer? This is crazy, she thought. “Grace…Grace,” he said as his voice gentled even more to a smooth calming chant. “I know you are frightened and overwhelmed. But it is also true that I knew your birth parents, your real parents.” Grace Stone’s memory goes back to foster parents and years of abuse, which she was finally able to escape by running away. Even as she lived in hiding she was still able to continue her education and had eventually acquired a job working in the morgue. She had always sensed that she was different from others. She couldn’t allow herself to be exposed to the sun. It seemed that her skin had no protection from the sun’s rays and exposure would cause severe burning of the skin. Therefore she worked nights only. Even though she was declared to be a beauty by everyone who met her, she refused to associate or become close to anyone. The strangest thing she noticed about herself was her lack of taste for normal food and her taste for blood which was easily acquired with her working within the hospital. So when she came home after a night’s work and found a total stranger in her apartment, she was more than shocked. Especially when that stranger admitted to knowing her real parents. Malachi has been searching for his ‘life mate’ for decades. As a child she had been placed in an underground chamber to age to maturity before they were to be bonded. Due to a cave-in within the chamber, she was assumed dead even though there was never a body recovered. Malachi refused to believe that his mate had been sent to the ‘void’ so his search started and had never ended until he finally found Grace Stone. This he knew was his mate, alive and well. Now that Malachi has found who he believes to be his ‘life mate’ he plans to take her home where she belongs. What he doesn’t know is that one of the Doctors she works with is a ‘harvester’ and wants her just as bad as Malachi does but for different reasons. Where Malachi wants her love, the good doctor wants her blood. Yesterday’s Daughter is filled with: deception – there is a traitor among the clan; love – between two that were always supposed to be; mystery – who is the traitor?; and suspense that took me all the way to the end of the book. I thought for a while that I knew who the traitor might be but wasn’t sure until I made it to within the last few pages of the book. Was I right or wrong? You’ll have to read Yesterday’s Daughter to find out for yourself. This was an enjoyable book from beginning to end.

I really and truly wanted to love this book. When I read the synopsis of Yesterday’s Daughter I was instantly intrigued, however I have to be honest in saying that, for me, the story fell short of my expectations.
Grace is a young woman who has always felt different. She has a lingering doubt that she is anything like anyone else. For one, years ago, Grace made the discovery that the sun was a severe danger to her – deeply burning her skin. This led her to a life of working at night and sleeping during the day. Another odd thing? She craves blood and luckily she has pretty easy access to this substance since she works at the morgue in the hospital. Grace also no real friends, other than co-worker acquaintances; in addition, she is considered a bit of an ice queen and has turned down more than her fair share of dates.
After living a solitary life and falling into a routine that suits her, Grace’s calm life takes a turn when a strange and incredibly handsome man suddenly shows up at her apartment. The man’s name? Malachi. Malachi claims that Grace (whose real name is Sapphira) is his life mate and to have known her parents. Surprisingly Grace is not completely thrown by this. She is a bit surprised, yes, but in the scheme of things is rather accepting, which was one of the issues for me with the story. If someone were to suddenly show up and claim that I had lived for centuries, was a rare breed of vampire and human mix and that there was a life waiting for me somewhere completely unknown to me, I would be much more unaccepting than Grace was. I realize that this is paranormal/fantasy/fiction, but it was a bit of a stretch for me.
I did, however, enjoy the overall storyline of Yesterday’s Daughter and thought the writing was fairly smooth. There were some grammatical and mechanical errors, but they did not distract overly much from the flow of the story. There is a good amount of action and the story never really dulls out. Though I enjoyed both the characters of Grace and Malachi and could truly feel their love and the bond that they shared, I did not find myself overly connected to them. I did, however, wish them happiness as the story progressed.
Sallie Lundy-Frommer does show a great talent for storytelling and her writing voice is enjoyable. Though I did not connect with Yesterday’s Daughter as I had hoped, I do look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
The review of "YESTERDAY'S DAUGHTER" by SALLIE LUNDY-FROMMER. The characters in the beginning of the book appear at random and can cause confusion in the reader, thus may leading the reader to re-read previous paragraphs. In addition, there were no smooth transition between scene changes, as evidenced by the author talking about Grace working in the morgue and the next paragraph speaking about Malachi meeting in the crater with the other Guardians.
However, about halfway through he book the characters have been established and there is a more consistent flow of the story. Essentially, the consistent flow after the halfway mark of the book makes the story continue nicely and effortlessly.
In the end, I would definitely recommend this book for others to read.
This is a refreshing style of a paranormal romance story. I loved uncovering all the secrets and betrayals, and really enjoyed the author's style of writing. She really draws you in and makes it hard to put the book down.
At first, I thought, "Not another vampire story..." but the beautiful writing sucked me in. The author switches between different POVs, giving the books it's own unique, creative brand of storytelling.
Excellent pacing, lots of action and great character development. Paranormal romance book lovers will get their fix of romance and the plot is well-constructed and very compelling.
