Damn, this was good! For such a quick story, it packed in the heat and the sweet! It was fast, fun, steamy and really well-written! Totally loved it!!!

Safe. Hero’s past isn’t mentioned but he didn’t come off as a manwhore. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. Minor OM drama, prior to meeting hero, she’s on date with OM but he’s a jackass—loved how he gets his comeuppance.no cheating or sharing or abuse. HEA with epilogue years out.

Reclusive mountain man Colton (H) is surprised when a curvy young woman, Annie (h), ends up caught in his net snare. Annie is convinced that Colton means her harm and keeps trying to escape until she finds herself drawn to the protective mountain man. Mountain man, age gap quickie with a little bit of angst and a side of heat.

OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.

Colton and Annie met when she gets caught in his trap. Colton lives by himself on the side of his mountain. Annie went out with a guy after he invited her to go watch the stars/Meteor showers with him. Annie was pushed out of the car when the guy tried to grab for her and she kneed him, then he left. Annie wait for him to come back, she can't find her phone so she started walking in the dark. Annie isn't able to see the road and after a while she lost it and now is lost in the woods, in the middle of the night on the mountain. Annie catches a glimpse of a warm orange glow, hoping to find a house or cabin. As Annie gets closer she makes out a log cabin, so she sneaks towards the clearing. When Annie almost gets to the clearing something closes around her foot as she is thrown upside down she screams. Annie is pulled sideways as a rope closes around her. Colton hears Annie scream so he grabs his gun, then looks at his security camera. When Colton zoom in close he sees a woman. Colton goes out to see, Annie tells him her boyfriend is hiding in the woods with a shotgun. Colton tells her he's not going to hurt her, Annie tells him she's upside down in his trap she's already hurting. Colton tells her to stop wriggling and he'll let her down. Colton moves towards her, but Annie thrashes around in the ropes. Annie tells him if he's going to kill her to just get it over with, Colton tells her he's not going to kill her. Annie tells him thats what an axe murderer would say, Colton asks her if he looks like an axe murderer. Annie tells him yes, he's big, bearded man with a gun, who lives alone. When Colton pulls out his hunting knife Annie screams. Colton slices through the rope that's holding up the net, he stands under and catches Annie. Colton notices her clothes are torn and scratches on her face. Colton asks her where she came from but she doesn't answer him. Colton goes to take Annie inside but she kicks him and runs off. Colton catches her but then she kicks him again, he tells her he's not going to hurt her. Colton tells her he's not going to hurt her, then tells her she's going to hate him for doing this. In a quick moment Colton slings Annie over his shoulder, she tells him to put her down. Colton tells her he's not going to hurt her this is no place to be in the dark. When Colton gets inside his cabin he asks her if he puts her down does she promise not to run, Annie tells him fine. As soon as she's on her feet she's rushing towards the door, but Colton blocks her. He tells her it's not safe out there, Annie tells him to let her out, Colton tells her no. Colton picks her up again and carries her to his supply cupboard. Colton sets her in a wooden chair in front of the fire and ties her to the chair. Colton tells her he hates doing this, but if she goes out in the storm she won't survive. After Annie stops struggling she finally hears what Colton is telling her about the storm. Annie asks him why he's got nets around his cabin. He tells her for the raccoons, they kill his chickens but he never caught a woman before. Colton tells her his name and tells her she's in his cabin and safe. Annie tells him she's tied up, Colton tells her he's trying to keep her safe. Colton notices she's bleeding and goes to get the first aid kit. Annie looks around the cabin, notices the pictures on his walls. Colton cleans up her cuts, Annie asks him if he lives alone. When Colton asks Annie her name she doesn't tells him, then he asks her why she was in the woods alone. Colton asks her how her wrists feel and Annie tells him they hurt. Colton asks Annie if he unties her will she promise not to run off into the dark, then he tells her there's a cliff face not to far and he needs to keep her safe. Annie closes her fingers as she promises him, Colton cuts the ropes from her. When Colton goes to take care of the first aid kit Annie sprints across the room and heads out the front door. Colton hears the sound of a door bang, he yells to Annie. Colton heads out to find her but he trips over something and stumbles. When he looks down he finds Annie crouched on the ground shivering. Colton picks her up, this time she doesn't resist, he tells her she's okay. Coltons sets Annie in a chair, she tells him if he's going to murder her to get it over with. Colton tells her he's not going to murder her. Colton hands Annie his phone and tells her to call whoever she wants, but the road into town is closed so she'll have to stay with him for the night. Colton heads to his bedroom to change his wet clothes as Annie makes a phone call. When Colton comes back out Annie tells him she spoke to her mom and she know him or knows of him, she's seen him with BearMountain Man's Obsession. Colton finds out Annie lives with her mom, so he asks her how old she is, she tells him she's eighteen. Colton tells her to get cleaned up after she thanks him. Annie turns to him and tells him her name, then walks into the bathroom. When Annie comes out Colton has made her an omelet, as she eats she asks him questions about life on the side of a mountain. When Colton asks her if someone hurt her she avoids his question. Colton tells her she needs to sleep, and picks her up and carries her to his bed. Early the next morning Annie comes out to the living room, Colton asks her if she wants to help feed his chickens. Colton gives Annie a tour of his property, she asks him questions. When the sound of a car engine pull them out of their thoughts, Colton notices a kid behind the wheel. Colton asks Annie if she knows the guy, then he tells her to wait inside. Colton asks her if he's her boyfriend and Annie tells him no. Annie tells Colton not to let him see her. Colton asks him if he can help him the guy asks him if he's seen a girl. Colton ask him if he lost one, he tells him yes last night. Colton asks him how, the guy tells him she jumped out of his car. Colton asks him why she would do that, and he tells him that he broke down and she ran off. Colton asks him if he left Annie out here on her own, so the guy says so you have seen her, after he got home he felt bad. Colton fingers grab his throat and pushes him back against his car. Colton tells him she could have died out her in the storm. Annie comes out and tells Colton to stop, he's not worth it. Colton tells him he's lucky she's a better person than him, he's not going to kill him out of respect for Annie but he will beat the shit out of him. Colton fist connect with his face and there's a satisfying sound of bones breaking. Colton tells him thats for leaving her and if he ever touches her again he will kill him. Colton tells him to get off his mountain, the guy stumbles backwards to his car and leaves. Colton tells Annie he would kill him but she tells him he doesn't need to do that. Colton tells her that she's his and he protects what's his. Annie tells him he's hers too, Colton kisses her. Colton lifts her up and wraps her legs around him and carries her into the cabin. Colton pulls her shirt off and realizes she's not wearing panties. Annie tells him, as his kisses down her body, she's a virgin. Colton freezes Annie asks him thats alright and he tells her thats more than alright, it's amazing. Annie ask him to tie her up, she liked it when he did it. A few minutes later Colton has Annie tied to his bed, then he pleasures her and they make love. Colton tells Annie he never wants her to leave, and asks her to come live with him. Annie tells him okay, Colton hold her close and she knows she'll be safe with her mountain man. Six years later, Annie tries to tied Colton up but her knots don't hold. Their first daughter, Molly arrived a year after Annie moved in with Colton, then Angie eighteen months after that. Now Annie is pregnant with a boy and she can't wait to met him. Colton is Annie's rock her safe place and she knows he always will be.

This is book two of the Men of Maple Mountain series and the main characters are Annie and Colton. Annie was supposed to be going to view the stars with a bloke from her astronomy class, but he had other ideas in mind and didn’t take no for an answer! She ends up having to jump out of his car at the top of the mountain and runs away off the side of the road. He drives off without her and she was then left in the pitch black of the night and struggling to find her way back to the road back to town. What she does find, is a small remote cabin in a clearing that obviously belongs to someone who likes nature if all the plants are anything to go by, and not a serial killer or axe murderer. She starts to approach the cabin to ask for help, when she finds herself up in the air, caught in a net! Colton finds her, but from his sheer size and rugged appearance, she starts to worry that she came to the wrong place. This man lives alone on the top of a mountain, far from anyone else, and seems to enjoy being a recluse.
He cuts her down, but then she tries to run away, scared of what he might want to do to her. He has to grab hold of her as she starts to head in a very dangerous direction in the dark and won’t see what is ahead. She doesn’t like that and objects strongly to him asking her to go back into his cabin, as a bad storm is coming! When she ignores him again, he ends up having to tie her hands and feet to a chair, just to keep her safe! Both are reacting to the other and trying not to let it show, and failing badly. She is getting hot and bothered just looking at him and his body, while he has to turn away to avoid her seeing how excited he is at her mere presence. When her latest attempt to escape ends in a wet and muddy mess, she finally listens to him and finds he has a phone, so she can call for help. He has mentioned a few people from town, one or two names she recognises and when she calls her mother, she knows of Colton and reassures her. The next day, Annie starts to learn a lot more about the mountain man who is Colton and his way of life up on the mountain and finds it quite refreshing. She even helps him out with some chores.
He is very protective of her and would gladly kill the man who left her all alone on the mountain the previous night, but that isn’t what Annie would want. What she does want, is him! He is twelve years older than her and more experienced, while she has to explain it is her first time. Seeing how far he was willing to go to protect her, made her hotter than hot and a steamy coupling soon follows. There us a guaranteed HEA ending, with a nice epilogue showing what the main characters are doing some six years later, to round off the story. This is a short and easy to read steamy romance, between a rugged mountain man and a younger curvy woman, who ends up enjoying being his captive a lot more than she expected and then never wants to leave! Easy to read over a tea break or a short lunch. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Catching his little fish

Mountain Man's Captive is the second book in the Men of Maple Mountain series. This story finds eighteen year old Annie wandering around Maple Mountain on a dark night with a storm coming in. She had gone up the mountain with with Mark Granger, a boy from her astronomy club because he said he had the perfect place to watch star gaze. What he really wanted was to get his hands all over Annie and she was not having any of it. A fight ensued, she was pushed out of the car and he then drove off leaving her there. Annie had tried to follow the road down but without her phone she eventually got lost. So when she sees a light in the distance which turns into a cabin in a clearing she knows she needs to check it out. What she was not expecting was to be caught in a trap like a "little fish". Colton Bray is thirty years old and lives by himself in Wildwood Cabin, about half way up Maple Mountain. He lives off the grid but that does not mean he is without modern technology and conveniences. So late one night when the alarm system inside alerts him that someone is in one of his traps he is surprised to find a woman, a curvy young woman, on his computer screen as he zooms in to see what is dangling in the trap. It seems he has caught a little fish and does not want to throw her back, as all he can think is "she is mine". Now the only issue is trying to keep her safe as Annie is determined to get away from him, as she thinks he is going to hurt her. It doesn't help that he ties her to a chair to keep her in the cabin as the storm starts raging outside. But that starts a whole different situation.....and a much more fun one for both of them in the end.

This is a humorous, light and smexy short story. I liked both characters as they battle over what will keep Annie safe. I will say that she could use a good swat for putting herself in so much danger all the time. But Colton is determined to keep her safe and lucky for her he takes that very seriously.

Lost her way

Annie was lost in the woods after the boy she was with kicked her out of his car. Wandering around in the woods in the dark, she stumbled and was caught in a trap. Thinking she has been caught by an axe murder she screams and freaks out. When the huge mountain man came out go get her down, Annie froze. She didn't know what to do.
Once down Colton took her in his cabin and explained a storm was coming and how dangerous it was out in the woods in the dark. Annie was having no part of staying in his cabin. In order for her to stay unfortunately he had to tie her to the chair until she realized outside was dangerous. Stormy and dark.
Annie calmed down called her mom who knew Colton, Annie finally relaxed.
The next day that boy came around looking for Annie but Colton took care of him and told him to forget about her and don't come around anymore.
Finally, Annie relaxed and her and Colton became a couple.
If Annie never would have been kicked out of the car, got lost in the woods she never would have found her forever mountain man, Colton.

Annie was going into the mountains to get a great view of the stars with a friend from class. However, her friend has other ideas, and this has her running off from him. Annie is trying to find a way to get back home or to find help. When she sees a cabin and starts walking towards it. Just as she gets close to it she get caught up in a net. Colton gets her free but when she goes to run off and get herself into trouble he grabs her. Annie isn't too happy and lets him know. To make sure she stays safe he ties her to a chair. After another attempt to run away things heat up between them. Colton lets her call her mom and when she learns that she can trust Colton she starts helping out around his place. Will Annie find more than stars on her little journey? Will Colton claim her for his won?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Mountain Man’s Captive is the second installment of Sadie King’s Men of Maple Mountain series. Ms. King centers this contemporary romantic short story around Annie and Colton. Colton suffers from PTSD and lives off the grid. He is self-sufficient and occasionally comes to town. When he does, he stops in at Bear’s Brewery. Eighteen-year-old Annie is stranded when she rejected the sexual advances of Mark Granger. She trapeses through the forest looking for a way back to town. Unbeknownst to her, she trespasses onto Colton’s property, thus getting caught in a trap. Frustrated, frighten, and angry over the night’s events, Annie is hostile toward Colton. To calm her, he restrains her. Thus, begins their romantic journey.

Ms. King creates the perfect recipe for this captivating and amusing romantic short story. She blends in strong, diverse and likeable characters, chemistry, and a splash of gentle intimacy making this a remarkable romance story. Outstanding dialog, both conversational and internal monologue, dual POV, and descriptive language all contribute to make this short story enjoyable. Well done, Ms. King.

Annie is left in the forest by a fellow college boy who was just trying to get into her pants; after wandering around the mountain desperately she comes across Colton's cabin, but gets trapped in one of his racoon nets.

This book had quite an interesting plot of the set - from the blurb you are expecting maybe kidnapping but the story plays out quite nicely. And physical restraints becomes a thing for Annie and Colton.

I read this as part of the set. I like that it centers around the same characters, such as is in this set. In the first story, Mountain Man's Obsession, Bear owns a bar, and ALL the characters that will appear later in the set are introduced in the first chapter, which sets the tone for the coming books! Sometimes you just need a quick sweet read in the middle of the day and this hit the spot!

Annie is in trouble as her date brings her up the mountain and then leaves her when she does not want to play his game. She keeps walking and finds a cabin but gets caught in a trap before she can get close. Colton hears her and brings her into the cabin, typing her to a chair so she does not run off and go over the nearby cliff. Next morning, she knows she is safe and is not afraid anymore. The characters play the situation quite differently, which pulls you into the story quickly, wondering what will happen next. The Storyline is short, but filled with visuals and details so you feel like you are there. Annie ends up liking the rope that bound her hands, but she is not as good at tying knots yet. Loved their chemistry and how he proved he would do anything for her. The ending was great.

First things first; I like the cover of this book!
Mountain man’s captive is the second book in the ‘’men of maple mountain’’ series.
This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. When Annie is left stranded on a mountain, she has to go to a lone house. Colton is a reclusive mountain man. When he finds Annie on his land, he wants her but will she give him a chance?
The chemistry between Colton and Annie is clear to see and I loved them together.
I loved Colton’s nickname for Annie (little fish).
I liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I look forward to more books from this series.

3/5 I've just met the woman of my dreams and I've got her tied up in my cabin. I'm pretty sure this is the shittiest seduction ever.

This was a cute little novella. Mountain man, captive woman, a cold dark night with storms brewing in the air!

Annie finds herself alone on a mountain when her classmate assaulted and bullied her. She flings herself out of the car... and then she winds up in a trap! Thankfully Jude, the only other person on the mountain, comes to her rescue! But after she keeps trying to escape during a storm, he ties her to his chair and she finds that turns her on. What will happen when the storm is over with?

SAFETY:
Virgin/celibate: virgin heroine, celibate hero
OM/OW drama: slight OM drama
Tropes: mountain man, age gap, instalove
Triggers: physical abuse (not by H)
HEA?: yes!

Annie gets left on the mountain when the guy she’s with gets hands and won’t take no for an answer. Colton literally catches her in a net and takes her in out of the storm. After several attempts at leaving, because she thinks Colton is an axe murderer, she realizes she’s safe with the hot looking mountain man. From the moment Colton sees Annie he’s attracted to her but upon talking to her he realizes she puts herself down and doesn’t see her beauty. This was a fast paced read. Colton is older but a sweetheart and is determined to build up Annie’s self image. Annie finally sees Colton for the kind person he is and the sizzling chemistry that zaps between them. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

About the Series: The Men of Maple Mountain is a series of short romance stories that are fun, escapist reading. This is not meant to be serious literature: these stories are light and require a certain amount of suspension of disbelief. They are dream stories, meant to entertain and remove the reader from life’s stressors. And they are very successful in doing so.
Cat’s Stats
H/h- Colton and Annie. He’s an off-grid survivalist and she doesn’t seem to have a profession at the start of the story.
Tropes- Captor/Captive, Age Gap, Damsel in Distress , BBW, Instalove, Innocent Heroine
Mewsings: this is not a hardcore kidnapping as the Hero is trying to save the heroine.

This pains me. I loved, LOVED the first book. This book fell so short for me. The female character was awful, I didn’t like her at all. Also, to me there are a few things that should not be in a novella, sexual assault during the book should never happen. A SA could haven prior to the book but Annie was assaulted the same night she met Colton. Even if she hit him and got away that is still very traumatic and she would not instantly be feeling “tingling in my core”, an hour after a SA.

I had to give it a one star, if Good Reads would let us give it no stars I would. Which sucks because the first was so good. And the SA is a trigger of mine and the fact the writer glossed over it and the next day not even 24 hours later she had sex with Colton.

Book 2 in Sadie King's Men of Maple Mountain, Mountain Man's Captive, is a fast-paced, entertaining and steamy OTT age-gap romance. Colton and Annie's meet-cute is hilarious with him literally ensnaring her. From there, forced into close quarters, their chemistry can do nothing else but burn hot enough to melt your Kindle. Colton knows what he wants from the beginning - Annie just needs a little more time to get up to speed. This is a fast-paced, fun, steamy age-gap romance that you won't be able to put down.

Annie kind of annoyed me in the beginning of this story. She was lost on the mountain and approached the cabin looking for help, when Colton showed up she tried to run away. I understand why she reacted the way she did but it really helped concrete in my mind how young she was. Regardless of the fact that he tied her to a chair, Colton was nothing but gentle with Annie. He was over the top protective of her when the date that abandoned her in the woods returns to find her. That is when things got real steamy. If you are looking for a spicy story with an ott alpha man and a young innocent woman, this is for you.

Annie agreed to go see the stars with guy from a astronomy club, little did she know he would try to make a move on her. He did not realize how strong she was, kneeing him and running off in the dark. Next she thing she know is off the ground and in a net hanging from a tree.

Colton was expecting to catch the raccoons that were going after his chickens, instead he caught a cutie. She is gorgeous, he wants to keep her. She keeps yelling at him to stay away, thinking he is an axe murderer.

This story is sweet and steamy, with the way the Annie, is funny at times.

The Chair, Again.
Great story. Colton doesn’t care for people too much so, he lives on his mountain alone. One night something springs one of his traps. Imagine the surprise he gets when there’s a gorgeous woman dangling upside down in front of him. Annie was left alone by someone who had bad intentions towards her. When Colton finds her she believes that he is going to harm her. But, he has just the opposite in mind for Annie. Will she trust him to protect her? Watch out for the traps as you find out..

cute story.

Could use one more pass of editing. It’s short enough that that shouldn’t be a big deal. Misuses of “then” instead of “than”, “wonder” instead of “wander”. And this real peach of a sentence: “He kisses me mouth and I taste my own saltines.” Lol, saltines. And for goodness sakes, throw a comma before the “and” when you tack another sentence onto another sentence.

Otherwise, I don’t mind reading these short little stories in between longer reads. They’re like a palate cleanser between courses.

I do have to wonder how Annie’s mother felt about her 18 year old daughter moving in with a 30 year old man immediately after meeting him though.

Annie was on a date, in the mountains, to 'gaze at the stars'. When her date becomes a little bit too handsy and she's not having it, she finds herself stranded in the mountains. She ends up caught in a rope trap and this is when she meets Colton, the alpha mountain man. He is instantly attracted to her, she thinks he's an axe murderer. Once she knows he's safe, she gives in to her attraction to him. The book was a good, quick read and very enjoyable.. Annie is out on a date in the mountains to look at the stars when her date gets a little to handsy. She kicks him and he pishes her out of the car. Lost in unfamiliar territory she begins to wander getting even more lost. What hallway when she comes upon a mountain man who wants to protect her from harming herself in the dark mountain? This is an older man younger woman instant possessive romance with a HEA.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

If you like mountain man romances with alpha males, OTT instalove, and a HEA, you will love this book. An older alpha male mountain man find a younger innocent woman caught in a net on his property. I loved the interaction between these two as he’s trying to keep her safe from an incoming storm and she’s trying to escape who she is sure is an axe murderer. Lots of sweet and steam between characters and a great ending.

When Annie agreed to look at the stars with a guy from the astronomy club she never imagined he'd get handsy and she'd end up left in the mountains and getting caught by a sexy mountain man. Colton was expecting to find a wild animal in his net, not a beautiful, sassy, curvy woman. This is a quick, steamy read with believable characters that have intense chemistry, and a great ott storyline. Mountain Man's Captive is book two and a great addition to the series. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Mountain Man's Captive is a fast read with moments of misunderstanding and others of heat and passion.

Anne was on a date, when he pushed her out of the car and left her in the woods. Lost in the dark and scared, Colton came across her and took her back to his cabin. Anne started to believe she was being held captive, but Colton was only trying to keep her safe.

This great fast-paced story is perfect when you want a break with a bit of suspense. .

Annie could not believe that Mark just drove off leaving her on the mountain to find her own way home at night. There was a storm coming, and she needed shelter. She came upon a cabin owned by Colton Bray, but she could not decide if he was an axe murder or not. Either way she felt an attraction to him, and Colton was never letting her leave.
