Faking a Fairy Tale is a workplace, nemesis to lovers romance set in Teri's Wilson's sparkly, cupcake appreciating New York City and follows another Veil writer, Daphne. This is Daphne's romance with the editor constantly marking up her submissions, Jack King. The two get a juicy magazine assignment which involved them going undercover as a fake engaged couple.
This is book 2 in this series, and while I highly recommend reading book one which I also rated five stars, this one can for sure be read as a standalone.
Daphne and Jack's romance is one I effortlessly just fell into and was immediately hooked and swept a way. Special Edition authors are able to show us how important community is to our characters and I love how Teri has created Daphne and her two. co-workers who have this amazing tight knit little girl gang. I felt like I was with them having wedding cake flavored drinks. Something about a small girl gang will always read special to me. I think those moments were needed because we were able to get the outsiders view of the romance between Daphne and Jack. I don't think Daphne would have allowed it to make sense for herself as quickly as she did had two of the people she trusts the moments shared what they'd been witnessing.
I really loved how Daphne and Jack were two people who as the story unraveled, we learn had simply gotten so many things wrong about the other person yet knew so much about them. I swooned when Jack confesses why he'd been so hard on Daphne's article writing for instance.
I think if you are already a Teri Wilson fan, of course you are going to enjoy this. It feels likes has created this lane for herself and is truly thriving in it. I think if you've never read a Special Edition before, this series is an excellent place to start.
SO sweet and wonderful! I adored every word of this book. Jack and Daphne stole my heart, made me laugh, and made me cry. I loved it! Teri Wilson has done it again.
I love Teri Wilson’s books so much! So much warmth and tenderness on each page, making it feel like you are truly watching two people fall in love! It melted my heart to watch Jack and Daphne develop feelings that neither one of them saw coming! Delightful, endearing, and lovely.
This was a delightful fairy tale with all the great aspects of one. Hot, lovable guy, quirky girl, both from different worlds with relatable wounds finding each other and healing. You root for both of them. Easy and fun read.
Two nemesis working for a bridal magazine must pretend to be engaged for a series of articles and attend etiquette lessons together.
I adored everything about this book! Daphne and Jack were amazing. My favorite part is how annoyed he is to find her glitters on his tie ! And oh my heart the teddy bear thing!
I'm also head over heels for this cover😍😍😍😍😍.
The guy🔥 The kiss and their hands holding🔥❤ The touch of pink and glitters in her hair❤
The city never looked sexier to me!
This book is a keeper.
"Are you okay with this?" he murmured, his breath warm against her neck.
Daphne blinked. "What?" She'd been so focused on Ashley that she'd missed the last few words of Gordon's speech.
"They want us to kiss," Jack said under his breath as he cupped her face, thumb caressing her cheek in what Daphne could only assume was a bid to stall for time.
I was looking forward to the second book in the Love, Unveiled series and I was not disappointed!
Jack and Daphne are total opposites. They are pushed together for a work assignment as fake fiancés. Add in work friends, family and an adorable dog and a fun read ensues.
This was a totally fun and touching story. I highly recommend it!
Another great story in the Love, Unveiled series! It was funny, had heart and was heart-rending. I laughed and I cried. Both Daphne and Jack had so much happening in their lives, past and present, but navigated through it with friends, family and love. I can’t wait for Addison’s story. I voluntarily read an advance copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Fun enemies to lovers story. Daphne and Jack have been at loggerheads since he started his job as the magazine's fact-checker. It seems that he annihilates every article she writes with his red pen. She gets even by messing up the items on his desk - he's a little OCD about their arrangement. Everyone on staff has noticed the tension between them, and they are all holding their breath for when their boss catches wind of it.
Daphne is afraid that the day has come when she is called to Colette's office and finds Jack there, too. It's a great relief that she seems unaware of their feud until she assigns them to work together on an undercover story by pretending to be an engaged couple. They are horrified by the idea, and Jack refuses by claiming he has other commitments. But when his mother tries to rope him into her society galas, suddenly working with Daphne doesn't seem so bad.
Watching the relationship develop between these two totally different people was so much fun. Jack is a planner, always in control of his life and emotions, and a by-the-book guy. Daphne is spontaneous, bubbly, and over-the-top in fashion. Neither expects the sparks of attraction that flare between them as they pretend to be in love. For two people who seem to dislike each other intensely, it was intriguing to note that they knew each other very well. I loved seeing them realize there was more to each other than they previously suspected. I enjoyed seeing how their differing approaches to writing the required articles blended to make something stronger than either could do individually.
Matters become more complicated when Jack and Daphne encounter his former fiancée in their undercover class. The next thing they know, Jack's parents know about their "engagement" and pull out all the stops to celebrate. I loved Jack's growing protectiveness toward Daphne as he began to understand her insecurities. There is also a sweet scene where Daphne comes to Jack's rescue when he has a family emergency. At this point, each realizes that their relationship no longer feels fake, and neither knows what to do with those feelings.
I loved the ending and seeing how each one found a similar way to let the other know how they felt. It was fun to see the boss lady, Colette, show a more human side than before.
I loved the secondary characters. Daphne's besties, Everly and Addison, do a terrific job supporting her, whether listening to her, advising her, or calling her out when she's lying to herself. The whole "fashion closet" routine is a riot. I also adored little Olivia and her effect on Jack's life.
A frenemies into sweethearts story. At Veil, bridal editor Daphne Ballantyne is constantly at odds with the new fact checker, Jack King. As is he is always redlining most of the articles she submits. But then, their boss, Collette, hears of a secret etiquette class for high society at a local posh hotel, and assigns Daphne and Jack to pose as an engaged couple for the four weeks of the class, and write about it each week. And in doing so, Daphne and Jack find out there is more to each other than they thought.
I loved this book even more than the first. Daphne and Jack are both so wonderfully opposite at the beginning, and that doesn't change. Instead, they find ways to merge those differences to find their own fairy tale. Note: there is some spice (though less than book 1), but it remains closed door.
An absolutely lovely book. The hero and heroine were both good and noble, and kind to each other even when they were at odds. Their love story was genuine and heartfelt, and there were some really tender moments that brought tears to my eyes. Highly recommended.
I loved this so much , the characters are amazing , love that Daphne is not afraid to be who she is , glitter and all , love that Jack has a different side to him then what he tries to portray at work. The storyline was fun and entertaining . Rivalries at work , possible love interest , you never really know someone til you get stuck pretending to be in love (wink ).
When work nemeses are given a game-changing undercover assignment to be an engaged fake couple for a front page magazine article, the sparkles fly. Daphne and Jack are total opposites--she’s a cheerful fluff writer and he’s a serious fact checker. But as they get to know each other, they realize they’ve totally misread one another and start to appreciate the unique qualities each brings to the table.
Daphne seems like the fun, sparkly writer who's all about the fun humor that makes everyone smile. But underneath that bubbly personality, she’s actually pretty vulnerable, struggling with trust and self-esteem. Her upbeat personality often hides the insecurities she feels. There’s a touching part in the book where her true strength shines through when she chooses to help Jack deal with a tough home situation instead of just focusing on her big work assignment.
Jack is the classic uptight professional, always trying to keep it together. But beneath that polished exterior, he’s hiding some deep-seated fears from his chaotic past and ongoing issues. Daphne's vibrant personality helps him show a more tender side. He genuinely wants to help her heal from her past hurts because he believes she truly deserves happiness.
Daphne and Jack have this super charged chemistry and the first kiss is well worth waiting for. They truly complement each other in a Cinderella/Prince Charming sort of way and I love the defining moment when they realize they love each other.
Faking the Fairy Tale is a delightful romance that captivates from the very first page. I hope to read more in this series.
