For young children, a lift-the-flap look at what makes Halloween special. From a ghost to a pirate, this is a sure hit for little ones as they guess "What Am I?" and lift the flap to find out!
Summary: Learning about the Holiday, Halloween, is fun to do in this book, “ Who Am I? Halloween.” This book makes it fun to learn about the holiday by guessing what each character is. The author reads their clues and flips open the flap to reveal the answer.
Audience: The book is targeted for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners. I think this book fits this group of children because the book does a good job of introducing the holiday and making it appeal to young children.
Appeal: The appeal is meant for young children because the book keeps the authors involved and engaged by asking questions and having the reader open the flaps to reveal the answers.
Implementation: I would use this book as an elementary teacher in my lesson plan of introducing holidays. Halloween is a fun filled holiday but not every child recognizes it. This book would be a great way to introduce a child that typically isn’t told about Halloween from home.

This is a nice Halloween book. The idea of having each Halloween character described and having to lift a flap to reveal the character is great. The flap is rather boring though, it's just the page folded over, no shaping. The picture is not covered in a fun way, by putting an illustration of something obscuring the character, the picture is just cut off. The text is okay, but it would have been much better if it rhymed. I kept trying to read the book with a rhythm but there was none there so it felt awkward to read. On the upside, I loved the illustrations. My 10 month old seemed to like the book, but he is addicted to Peek-a-Boooo!, so if you're looking for a lift the flap for little ones, I'd recommend that one instead.
This is one of my favorite books to read during Halloween! I appreciate that toddler to preschool age children can both interact and enjoy the book. I have learned to read the clues with the book facing towards me, and then turn the book towards the kiddos, otherwise they get overly excited and shout out their guess before I can even finish reading the clue. I enjoy books that make children excited and think about the possibilities. This read is a staple during story times around Halloween for me, and I would absolutely recommend it to others!
