Sebastian, a master of disguises, is the world's greatest four-legged detective. Without much help from his human counterparts, he must try to solve the case of the Crummy Yummies. To do so, he uses the most difficult disguise of his career - that of an ordinary dog!
I loved this cute book about Sebastian, a mystery loving/solving dog. I thought it was funny how after solving another case without getting any credit he gets a lifetime pension of the thing he hates most, Chummy Yummies.
Sebastian is full of himself. He is a police dog, known for his disguises. John, his human partner, never seems to realize that it is Sebastian who solves the cases. The chief of police is a feline-loving man who abhors Sebastian.
But Sebastian has his most difficult case to date; that of disguising himself as an ordinary dog. Fun hijinx abound as Sebastian finds himself at a dog show.
The voice that Christian provides the main character is wonderful. He is so confident that he exudes an arrogance that is funny. Poor Sebastian never earns the credit he deserves as a super sleuth.
We enjoy reading this book yearly. There's some rich language in this book. I tend to use it with lower on-level fourth grade readers. **** I have changed how I approach this book. It seems like the language is such that it trips up my lower readers. This year I used it with my higher on-level group. Even they struggled with a little of it. **** 1 December 2010 24 February 2011
