Yuka Kunimoto es una chica de 15 años que se ha mudado al piso contiguo al habitado por su padre, pues éste se ha casado ya por tercera vez y Yuka desea concederles intimidad a él y a su nueva esposa. Siguiendo las máximas recomendadas por su padre, para ser en el futuro una mujer moderna y atractiva, Yuka pretende encontrar al gran amor de su vida teniendo cuantos novios le sea posible, aunque ello implique tener que cortar con ellos y sufrir. Apoyada por sus amigos Touko, Hiro y Katsura, que también desean encontrar el amor, y los consejos de su hermanastro Towa, Yuka se propone cumplir su sueño.

About the author

Wataru Yoshizumi (吉住渉) is a Japanese mangaka. She was born as Mari Nakai (中井 真里, Nakai Mari) on June 18, 1963 in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated with a degree in economics from Hitotsubashi University.

Yoshizumi started her career as a mangaka while working as an office lady. Her debut manga was a yomikiri (short story) called "Radical Romance" that was published in 1984, in the summer issue of Ribon Original. She is known as a social mangaka, and is a good friend of fellow mangakas Naoko Takeuchi, Ai Yazawa, Miho Obana, and Megumi Mizusawa.

Yoshizumi currently (as of 2007) has her works published in both Ribon and Chorus.

La historia gira en torno a Yuka, una estudiante de bachillerato que vive sola, y desea encontrar su media naranja.
Este discutible manga (por su forma) narra una típica historia de chico y chica, que salen porque se gustan, pero sin estar enamorados; cosa más común y frecuente de lo que debiera ser. Ese primer mensaje no está mal, pero su tratamiento es machista, denigrante; todo de un tono muy servicial, aparatoso y hasta ridículo. El ‘final’ salva algo el número, al intuir los futuros derroteros.

Cosas Bochornosas (I):
1/Su padre alquila el piso de al lado para que su hija, para así estar a solas él y su nueva esposa.
2/La protagonista va diciendo en el instituto que cortó con su novio, y que va buscando chico.
3/ Yuka invita a su casa, alegremente, a una compañera de clase con la que apenas tiene relación.
4/Una amiga de la protagonista suele ir a los Karaoke con chicos, y así ser invitada…pero cuando ellos ‘quieren algo en recompensa’, se escapa.
5/Los chicos de la obra entran a ‘saco’ a las chicas, sin conocerlas siquiera.
6/Insta love superficial y estereotipado
7/Este manga nos muestra como un adolescente (actual), recibe una carta de recomendación de los progenitores de una compañera de instituto, para que replantee salir con ella
8/Yuka va detrás del chico que le gusta y le pide ser su novia. Él le dice que ‘a prueba’; ella accede (¡alucinante!)
9/Yuka le dice a ‘su novio’, que le hará la comida (y que sabe hacer las tareas del hogar).

En fin, algo infumable, pero divertido por disparatado y lleno de tópicos.

Classico romance dei primi 2000, niente di più e niente di meno. Oggettivamente i disegni per gli anni che ha sono ancora molto carini e ben fatti, la storia è abbastanza complicata ma lineare allo stesso tempo.
Non è minimamente il mio genere, ma tutto sommato è carino

Kann mich nicht entscheiden, ob ich gelangweilt oder genervt sein soll. Yuka stolpert von einer Beziehung in die nächste und das komplett ohne das irgendwelche Gefühle gezeigt werden. Der Plot ist so furchtbar dass ich mich frage, wie das selbst im Jahre 2000 durch die Redaktion abgesegnet werden konnte. Weil Yukas Vater "Romantiker" ist, steht für sie an erster Stelle, eine Beziehung zu führen. Schule und alles was danach kommt, ist erst mal unwichtig. Die Stiefmutter ist damit einverstanden und der Herr Papa findet lediglich, dass mal ein wenig Nachhilfeunterricht angebracht ist. Boyfriend 1 muss es sein, weil die Väter der beiden befreundet sich und es schön fänden, wenn sie zusammen kommen. Leider mag er sie gar nicht und nimmt sich stattdessen ne andere. Aber zum Glück gibt es ja noch Boyfriend 2, der hat aber eigentlich schon ne Freundin. Klingt alles sehr dramatisch, aber eigentlich passiert in etwa gar nichts. Wundervoll ist natürlich auch, dass einer der Auserwählten der Meinung ist, "Nein" bedeutet eigentlich "Ich will, aber trau mich nicht" und setzt sich danach über ihren Willen hinweg. Hach, wie romantisch.. nicht! Aber den Vogel abgeschossen hat die Mangaka mit den Tipps am Ende des Bandes, wo den Leser_innen noch einmal schön beigebracht wird, wie sie attraktiver werden könne um dadurch das Herz des Boys zu erobern (Bravo?). Zum Beispiel geht das nur, wenn sie gemeinsame Interessen haben und zsm singen gehen.Oder auch Lob. Du musst andere loben, damit sie dich mögen. Toll, oder? Aber am Ende nützt es nichts, wenn du bei ALLEN beliebt bist, aber nicht bei dem BOY: "konzentriere deine Anstrengungen nur auf ihn". *kotz*
Ich bin wirklich sehr froh darüber, dass man dieses "Werk" nur noch gebraucht über ebay u.ä. bekommen kann..

This was surprisingly a very adult and mature take on relationship, much more so than other shoujo I've read. People change their minds and hearts, especially at a young age and I love how it is portrayed here.

Random Walk es un soplo de aire fresco, un shojo sencillo que rompe algunas de las pautas de comportamiento de los personajes, y nos presenta a una protagonista decidida e imperfecta que no espera sentada a que el chico le confiese sus sentimientos. Tal vez no sea la revolución de la originalidad, pero consigue que pases un rato ameno sin cabrearte a base de tópicos.

Lo recomiendo para los fans de Wataru Yoshizumi. No he leído demasiado de ella pero por lo que veo, es especialista en crear este tipo de historias: sencillas, monas y agradables.

Ugh...I love Wataru Yoshizumi's work so much, but no matter how hard I try I could not bring myself to like the main character. She just went through so many boys. Frustratingly enough I only get to see her with the one guy I like for like two pages at the end.

The artwork is still great because it's Yoshizumi. But other than that if you are not a huge Yoshizumi fan this manga can be skipped.

kalo dari segi cerita... ummm, yah lumayan lah... meskipun akhirnya rada aneh gimaneee gitu... abis masa jadiannya sama mantan kakak tirinya... :( mana awalnya nggak ada kesan2 deket sama sekali... jadi kek tiba2...
tapi suka sama kehidupannya papanya... lebih berwarna dan lebih idup aja gitu... menyenangkan!

gambarnya selalu bagus dan komiknya wajib koleksi meski ceritanya agak klise. melihat Yuka mirip dengan Noel dan Maria di mint-na bokura we are twins. dan mirip dengan tokoh utama lain dalam karyanya di cerita lainnya.

After her boyfriend betrayed her, Yuka intends to follow her father's advice of falling in love many times. She is now on the lookout to find that someone who she can truly love and who will love her as much in return.

Random Walk is, based on what I had always heard about it, better than I had expected. And yet it always manages to disappoint me. Most people seem to feel the problem lies with Yuka's too many boyfriends - I feel more as though the problem is the length of the series.

Yes, Yuka does go through a number of boyfriends; but they don't seem unnaturally many - just think about what some people in real life get through! In any case, this series is a short one with only three volumes - which means there is fairly little space to develop characters and relationships. And given this length, it truly does appear as though Yuka goes from one guy to the next and without the reader being able to get invested.

And it's such a shame! I quite like Yuka - she is energetic, friendly and forgiving. I love how she is able to seek out her family and friends to ask them for advice rather than just keep things to herself. I also think the author provided a good chemistry among Yuka's friends: she has the shy and sensible Katsura, the irrational but loyal Toko and her good male friend Hiro. I always thought that Wataru Yoshizumi is very good at creating friendships among her characters - and these ones were so different and yet so good for each other. It's just such a waste that nothing more came of it!

We get to see glimpses of her friends' past and interests but never enough for them to really develop. The same thing happens throughout the story with Yuka and her love interests. If this series was at least twice as long as it was, I think it could have turned into a pretty nice story that's both heart-wrenching and heart-warming!
