About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

தினமும் அலுவலகமும் வீடும் என்கிற இயந்திர வாழ்க்கைக்குள் தன்னைச் சுருக்கிக்கொண்ட, ஒரு நடுத்தர வர்க்கத்தைச் சேர்ந்த, 'வித்தியா' என்கிற பெண்ணைச் சுற்றிக் கதை நகர்கிறது. தன்னை உணர்ச்சியற்ற இயந்திரமாகப் பார்க்கும் குடும்பச்சூழல், அவள் ஒரு பெண்ணாகத் தன்னை உயர நிறுத்திக்கொள்ள எத்தனிக்கும் போதெல்லாம் "வீட்டினுள்ளே முடங்கிக்கிட" என ஒலிக்கும் ஆண் உலகத்தின் அதட்டலான குரல் எல்லாவற்றிலிருந்தும் தன்னை விடுவித்துக்கொள்ள முற்படுகிறாள்.

ஆண் உலகத்தை நேரடியாக எதிர்கொள்ள முடியாமல், ஒரு பெண் என்பதால் தனக்குக் கிடைக்கும் சலுகளைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தி முன்னேறவேண்டும் என எண்ணுகிறாள். இதனால் பல சவால்களை எதிர்கொள்ள நேரிடுகிறது. சூழ்நிலையாலும் சந்தர்ப்பத்தாலும், நல்லவர்கள் யாரென்று முடிவு எடுக்கமுடியாமல் திணறுகிறாள். இறுதியில் இந்தச் சிறைக்குளிருந்து விடுபடுகிறாளா என்பதுதான் கேள்வி.

"எப்போதும் பெண்" என்கிற நாவல் எப்படிப் பெண்களினுடைய ஒட்டுமொத்த வாழ்வின் துயரத்தை எடுத்துச் சொல்கிறதோ, அதேபோல "பெண் இயந்திரம்" என்கிற நாவல் நவீன யுகப் பெண்களின் இயந்திர வாழ்வினை எடுத்துச் சொல்கிறது. பெண்கள் எதிர்நோக்கும் சவால்கள், இழிவுகள், பாலியல் துன்புறுத்தல், துயரங்கள் அனைத்தையும் இந்த நாவல் சொல்கிறது.

சுஜாதாவின் எண்ணத்தில் உருவாகும் பெண்களிடம் ஒரு துடிப்பும் தீர்க்கமும் நிறைந்திருக்கும். ஆனால், இதில் ஒரு சாதாரணப் பெண்ணின் வாழ்க்கையையும் சவால்களையும் பதியவேண்டும் என்பதால் மிகவும் தைரியமான பெண்ணாக மட்டும் சித்தரித்திருக்கிறார்.

நவீனயுகப் பெண்களின் துயரங்களை, சவால்களை, துல்லியமாகச் சித்தரித்த சுஜாதாவை தவிர வேறு எவராலும் முடியாது . நடுத்தர வர்கத்து பெண் ஒருத்தி தான் கதையின் நாயகி . அவளை காதலிக்கும் இரண்டு நபர்கள் . இவளுக்குள் நடக்கும் மனபோராட்டம் . இது தான் கதையின் கரு . சிம்பிளான கதையை கொஞ்சம் நீட்டியது போல தோன்றுகிறது .

நடுத்தர வர்க்கப் பெண்களின் உண்மை நிலையை இந்தப் புத்தகம் காட்டுகிறது. இரண்டு ஆண்களால் நேசிக்கப்படும் ஒரு பெண்ணைச் சுற்றியே கதை நகர்கிறது. பொதுவாக பெண்கள் தங்கள் அன்றாட வாழ்வில் சந்திக்கும் இடையூறுகளை இந்தக் கதை முன்வைக்கிறது. படிக்கும் போது சில காட்சிகள் "அவள் ஒரு தொடர்கதை" படத்தின் காட்சியை ஒத்திருப்பதை உணர்ந்தேன். பெண்களை மையமாகக் கொண்ட கதைகளை நீங்கள் விரும்பினால், இந்தப் புத்தகத்தைப் படிக்கவும்.

👩🏻This book shows the realities of working middle class women. The story revolves around a woman who is loved by two men. The story presents the hurdles faced by women in general in their everyday life. While reading, I felt some scenes resembles to that of the movie "Aval oru thodarkadhai". If you like women-centric stories with strong leads then give this book a try.

the story revolves around vidhya a middle class girl who toils hard for her family.the story focuses on how vidhya meets kanagasabai (supervisor)how she tackles with the manager(krishnakumar) and the conflicts in the bus with sathyanarayanan.even though the story is written in 80s it well connects today. the writing of sujatha at first was toughfor me to read but after some pages it was fantastic. the way he tells about vidhya's appearance amazed me. the story is a bit old one but it was so promising for me because it reflect the day to day lives of a woman.the dialogues and vidhya's brahmin pronunciation and her good self' dialogues and bad self's dialogues are way ahead. I will surely recommend this book to my friends.

1974இல் வெளிவந்த பாலச்சந்தரின் 'அவள் ஒரு தொடர்கதை'யின் இரண்டாம் பகுதியோ என்ற ப்ரமையின் என்னால் விலக்க இயலவில்லை.எனினும் இதில் வரும் நாயகி வித்யாவை விட, அவள் தோழி மல்லியும் அவள் மூலமாக பேசும் சுஜாதாவும் என்னை ஈர்க்கின்றனர். குடும்ப சூழலால் வேலைக்கு செல்லும் நவீனயுக நடுத்தர பெண்கள் அனைவராலும் நேசிக்க முடிந்த புத்தகம்.
