More like "Odd Book About Animal Helpers"--this book lacks captions for photos. This is inexcusable in a book which explores the relationships between different animals, not all of which will be familiar to a young audience. Further, photos used in this book leave a lot to be desired--including, sometimes, a clear view of their subject. For example: on the page about aphids and ants, the ants are clearly visible, but the aphids are not. Are there truly aphids in this picture? I am still not sure.

Overall, the writing in the book is okay, but the fact that it seems to have been written in a vacuum by people who have no knowledge or personal experience with children really ruins it. It's a shame, because it could have been a really fantastic factual read for an audience who always needs more quality early reader books and (mostly) loves to read about animals.
