One of the more intriguing books of this series, I have now been challenged to keep my tv turned off for a week. I can only imagine how much work I can get done in that week!

Great books for kids!! I loved the Christian influence and my 6 year old son could relate to the situations while still reading the book himself!! HIGHLY recommend!!

MY REVIEW:

Beverly Lewis has written a very creative series of books titled The Cul-De-Sac Kids which are great for elementary age kids to read alone or for parents to read to them and younger kids. My kids and I enjoy the fun characters who deal with everyday problems that children face in America. This group of first and third graders will not only entertain your children but teach them some biblical lessons along the way, too.

I really enjoyed this 18th book in the series because it was all about T.V. Turn-off week. It showed that while it may be hard, there are other things to do than just watch T.V. and that you can actually have fun not watching!

This book would be a great way to introduce or kick-off your own no T.V. week as a family. You will appreciate the multi-generational approach as depicted in this book.

Eric proposes that the whole street, adults and children, participate in national TV turn off week. In the process, they discover the fun of socializing with neighbours, reading aloud, and playing board games.

TV screen time is not a big time-consumer in our home, so the challenges the characters had in keeping their promises to turn off the tube for a week was not as easy for me to relate to. The Cul de Sac kids generally have lots of adventures together, so I don't think they spend a whole lot of time in front of the TV either!

This book and series have relatable characters and present everyday type stories that students can read and leisurely enjoy, maybe it could even encourage kids to grab their neighborhood friends and make a little club if their own!
