Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the real national zoo! As Aristotle said, "Man is a political animal." Talk radio sensation and New York Times best-selling author Michael Savage is afraid that the ancient philosopher was all too right, and in ways he never could have imagined. In Savage's funniest, most biting book yet, the nation's fiercest independent thinker invites you to take a riotous tour through The Political Zoo -an outrageous look at today's most prominent politicos and pundits as the reptiles, rats, and birds of prey they most resemble. Animal by animal and cage by cage, Savage brandishes his irreverent wit to keep these beasts in check. Serving as resident biologist and zookeeper, Dr. Savage asks that you watch your step when approaching the widemouth copperhead Ted Turner (also known as Mouthus desouthus ), do not feed the ego of stuffed turkey Alec Baldwin ( Notalentus anti-americanus ), and please keep your children with you at all times around wolf boy Bill Clinton ( Fondlem undgropeum ). " The world of politics is filled with uncivilized, snarling, rapacious beasts that, like untrained mutts, raise their legs and urinate on everything we hold dear ," says Savage. And this sensational book is your guide for navigating the jungle of today's animal-political kingdom.
Dr. Michael Savage is a multimedia icon in the conservative movement. The Telegraph in the U.K. ranked him as one of the most influential conservatives in the United States, and with 10 million weekly listeners, the Berkeley Ph.D. is the third most listened to conservative talk show host. Recently featured in The New Yorker and Playboy, Dr. Savage is the author of many books, including the political thriller Abuse of Power and four New York Times bestsellers. His media presence and profile earned him the coveted Freedom of Speech Award from Talkers magazine in 2007.

Once I could get past some of his ultra-insane thinking/lingo, I found this book to be hilarious. It is also a very quick read because it is split up into 5-6 page chapters.
savage is a much better orator than a writer. and his satirical rap songs are unaparalleled. instead of reading this book, check out savage's jam that proclaims: "i'm the biggest pimp and you're the biggest ho/give to a bro, give it to a bro, give it to a bro". and, if you like that one, you might also enjoy his rap that asserts: "i speak 50 words of english, but i got $10 mil in the bank, jank".
Savage labels the political animals of that time in colorful way. It is interesting to note these animals in 2022 when I listened to the audiobook. Savage boils down the nature of each beast to show you their heart.
Okay, so my dad gave me this book as a present over a year ago (amongst other books) and I read this for him. At first, I HATED the tone of his book and author. He's pretty obnoxious and seemingly hates everyone. But once you get used to the tone, some parts made me laugh out loud. He certainly highlighted all the ridiculous things politicians/celebrities say and do. Ill never read it again... But it wasn't the worst read ever. :)
This was actually okay, but I'd give it two and a half stars if I could. I did not finish the book and it took me a long time to read it. There was not much positive in it, just the negative aspects of political leaders lives. I read the book and then researched the individuals, and what Savage said was accurate, but just the negative points of individuals political careers.”
Hard line typical Savage; he is quite a matter of fact person. I have read several of his books and haven't been let down on any of them; only critique would be that some of the books seem to carry a lot of the same rhedoric.
This book would be simply hilarious if it weren't so true. Great depiction backed up with countless footnotes of research of some prominent political figures of our time and their zoo-like behavior. Brutally honest!
Brilliant and hysterical, a little bit outdated though with a few of the personalities he's slamming plus I'd love if Dr. Savage would do a sequel as there are a few new species that need to be added to the zoo. As far as I'm concerned The Political Zoo is a masterpiece of political satire.
I found this funny, but unless your political views lean to the conservitive side you may not feel the same. This is not a true book. Each page has a cartoon figure of a person in politics and gives them a funny name and brief as to why. If your a Liberal we might want to pass this one up.
Marginally humorous. A guy trying to be funny about public figures. He makes some points and I've referenced him in conversation a time or two, but overall, not moving my needle. Sometime hilarious, often just lame. A hee haw every now and again, but overall, meh ...
Not the best book Savage has written, but still very good. This book does a great job of making satire out of a world that is way way to caught in seriousness.
Witty portrayal of some of the current political landscape. Also; gives some information that has been less than forthcoming in the news surrounding particular political candidates.
Funnier than Conan, Letterman, Lopez, and Leno combined. Savage pokes fun at pundits and politicians alike and does give occasional praise to those deserving of it. I'm liking this book so far.
