At 19, Kira has spent years in hiding. Ready to meet her fate, she is escorted by Nathaniel, the Crown Prince, to Volmasque Academy. There, as a wolf shifter, she’ll be trained to become an obedient pet for a vampire master.

While not plot heavy, there is enough to assuage any guilt. Moreover, that cliffy at the end suggests that the plot will thicken considerably with Plug & Tame.

As for our characters, I love a domineering MMC, but I also liked the glimpses of Nathaniel’s true self. Likewise, it’s clear that Kira has been holding back and I can’t wait to see how she handles that 💣shell thrown at her.

The pace is fast, the smut spicy, and our main alphahole owns his BDE.

Full disclosure: I hate reading books written in third person. However, the book had been recommended by some trusted readers so I decided to give it a fair shot. By a couple chapters in, I hardly noticed.

Diving into this book, I was genuinely excited, drawn in by an intriguing premise that held so much promise. But, my enthusiasm definitly took a hit when I stumbled upon the trigger warnings, which came with the inclusion of a a specific trope… a trope I am disgusted by… non-consensual sex . At that moment, I probably should've hit the brakes, but the curiosity got the better of me.

As I continued to read, I found myself in the middle of scenes that pushed welllll beyond my comfort zone, and I literally felt physically uncomfortable. My discomfort peaked with the actions of our MMC to our FMC, these actions left me with an undeniable sense of repulsion towards him, and, unfortunately these feelings didn't clear throughout the book

What struck me most was the absence of emotional depth between the MMC and the MFC. Their relationship felt more like a physical entanglement, devoid of any genuine emotions. It was a struggle to connect with characters so seemingly distant from the emotional spectrum.

The storyline of this book left me puzzled. The characters' reasons for chasing their goals felt unclear and muddled, creating these gaps and holes in the plot that left me feeling a bit adrift. As I got to the 25% mark of the book, it seemed as if our MFC took an unexpected detour from her initial goals at the academy. She transformed into this submissive follower of our MMC, and utterly abandoned her own ambitions. The strong-willed, determined character I initially met vanished, and was replaced by a submissive little wolf. This left me questioning the character development and I was wondering what happened to the character I was introduced to at the start. It added a layer of confusion, making the overall plot feel less put together.

Now, if your appetite leans towards the spicy side, with a generous helping of BDSM and non-consensual scenes, then this might be right up your alley. The narrative seems tailored for those who relish such elements. However, if, like me, you prefer a storyline that sidesteps the discomfort of non-consensual themes, consider this a friendly warning to tread carefully or perhaps explore other literary avenues. This journey may hold allure for some, but for those steering clear of certain narrative elements, it might be wise to explore different landscapes. Choose your next read wisely.

We Have
✅ MF Romance

✅ Virgin FMC
✅ BDSM
✅ Dubcon/Noncon
✅ Dom/Sub Relationship
✅ Degradation
✅ University Romance

I wanted to like this book - I mean, I did like this book. I went back and forth on this SOB. lol. Slow burns are my pet peeve - mostly because I'm a perv (lol - judge ya momma) No but seriously, the book started off good - I was feeling it. I was into the Dom/Sub - I was into taking control, and I was into the plot and how it was going.

Theennnnnn we get to the meat and potatoes. Let me say this - I thought the FMC was going to be strong - she's not weak, but what she is is DUMB. Like how are you going to walk into a situation with NO experience and think you're gonna take over? I mean, you don't go bowling after having your parents tell you ALL about bowling and just fucking start throwing strikes... BRUH no! That's how Kira is written. She has a plan, and in order for her to execute said plan, she has to get in with a group. You can't meet said group and say hey, I'm gonna join and then take over. BLAAAH

She has a shit ton of potential - she's strong-willed (which I love), and she definitely seems like she's tenacious, and she has the mentality of NOT failing. I can appreciate these traits.

Now, after the bullshit and the character-building, we get to the plot. I thought I saw stuff coming... I didn't - the author threw me a couple of times, and I love it when a story makes my jaw drop. I didn't see some things coming, and the last 75 (ish) pages had me shooketh! Did I LOVE the story? Nah. Did I hate it? Nope. Will I get the next one? Absolutely.

Again - character flaws can severely kill a book for me so my rating may be lower than others because there are some tropes people don't mind. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to what this young naive girl is going through and get what she's trying to do. For me, most of the shit she did pissed me off and i'm like BRUH what in the actual fuck are you doinggggg??

Here.. Look at some of the notes I wrote:

"she fucked around and found out.... how you gonna be new somewhere - can't fight, and decide to make demands?? FOH..."

"BITCH - you can't even fight!! How TF are you gonna take charge???"

"Did she really think there was a vampire hunter AT a fucking vampire school? This chick is dumb AF"

"She's always so quick to say what she wants to do but is always fuckin scared... grrr"

Anywho - she clearly irritated me - I WILL say, there was some cute comedy written in here - and this was a "sexually open" school, sooooo the smut was smutting - The burn was slow with the MCs, but everyone else was getting their freak on so it wasn't lacking.

On to the next..... 😏😏

Hahahaha, smesno, jadno, bolno, tuzno.

In retrospect I enjoyed it but I kept thinking wtf while I was reading, Kira starts off wanting to start a rebellion but idk gets lost in the enemies cock along the way 🤨
Nathaniel who we meet early on is a sicko freak and I guess he becomes relatively more likeable but I’m not yet convinced
I will read the next book because I’m invested but I’m not sure if BDSM is my thing in a book, I still enjoyed the writing and the paranormal academy setting

Okay, I think the title speaks for itself, but let's say it in case…. Plug and Claim is the first book of the spicy🌶🌶🌶🌶 Dark Romance duology Plug and Claim💜
To be honest, it's not my usual read and to be more honest it's my second book of that genre that I read, and it's safe to say it was a fun and entertaining page turner that you can binge read in one breath and luckily the second book Plug and Tame comes shortly after (January 31).
With secrets of her own, Kira’s plan is to enroll in the Volmasque Academy that is a place both for vampires and wolf packs. With her ambitious plan to change the current conditions that shifters are merely a play thing for the superior vampires…she wants not only to change that, but to unite them all.
But everything changes when the person who comes to collect her for the academy is non-other than the vampire prince himself—Nathaniel.
Like her, he has plenty of dark secrets and an even more ambitious plan that he has for her.
The main character, Nathaniel, is one of those you hate to love because of his cruel demeanor, but along the way you learn a bit here and there about him that keeps that hate/love fire alive😈
As I said, a lot of 🌶🔥 moments and entertaining snarky banter between Nathaniel and Kira but also cool side characters like Victoria and Susie💜
With that cliffhanger of an ending its good that the second book is coming soon😈💜

Why haven't I read this earlier?!!

As soon as I read the blurb, I knew I was going to enjoy this book. Vampires and shifters with a sprinkling of bdsm spice?! Sign me up!

This was easy to read, and it really sucked me in (pun intended!). I loved reading more about the characters as the book went on, how they navigated their growing feelings for each other whilst also keeping a major secret from each other.

The spice was great, I loved it, and I love how he explored that with her. And that ending?! I will definitely be reading the next book.

I also loved the chapter names and how the author approached the acknowledgements, etc, at the end of the book. "Well done, pet. Halfway there. Now brace yourself - it's a long story, and I expect you to take it all."

If fantasy crossed with BDSM is your vibe, I would definitely check this out.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, the published and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you Darcey and Netgalley for the chance to read this book for an honest review.

I rate this an easy 4.5⭐️
The plot was great and the story hooks you from the start. I would of liked a little more but I’m hoping a lot of the secrets will reveal themselves properly in the 2nd book we did get a feel for some at the end.

The secondary characters susie, Victoria and felix complimented the main characters so well, also hoping to see more of them in the next book.

My only dislike about this book was the cover. I know the saying is don’t judge a book by it’s cover and this is definitely a perfect example of this. But I feel this cover could of been so much better it doesn’t draw me in I would normally scroll past this. This might be just me but it doesn’t take away how well written this book is.

Looking forward to the next instalment

So freaking good! Isaw a couple of twists coming but they were more twisty than expected!

I love Kira, how ferocious and strong she is. And Nathaniel's behaviour towards her, starting from the middle of the book is amazing. Their enemies to lovers arc is incredible to read.

And do we need to talk about the spice? There's none at the beginning, but when it starts... wow, just wow!

OMG THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOOOOOD!
Ahhh I am hooked. Kira and Nathaniel are enemies to lovers to the fullest and I loved that. The back and forth and banter between the two I. Loved. It.

This book was spicy. So hot, and the plot was amazing! I haven’t read a book like this before. This book deals with BD$M themes, so I would check triggers if you’re not sure about that. I devoured this. Nathaniel and that mouth..omggg.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to see where the story goes!

Kira has spent years in hiding among the humans but shifts to her wolf form as a plan to be reported to the vampire authorities.

As an act of revenge, she gets herself enrolled at the academy that is run by the Vampire king. Where not only do vampires attend but wolf shifters are trained to be pets to their masters.

“Last chance, pet. I will not ask you again. Will you be good for me?”
Nathaniel is used to always getting what and who he wants. When he meets the strong-willed Kira who won’t easily bow down to him. He has his eyes set on making her his.

“Watch out, Nathaniel. This wolf has fangs.”
Victoria is one of my favorite characters and Nathaniel’s best friend. As the story continues we learn that not only is Nathaniel powerful, but he is so much more.

“My dear pet…over the coming days, I will show you exactly how a vampire prince claims his wife. In the meantime, your body will make for good practice.”

From obsession, determination, revenge, and desire.

Can Kira get the wolf packs to gain control back from the vampires? Will Nathaniel continue to follow in his father’s footsteps?

I loved this book and devoured it in a couple of hours! That cliffhanger was brutal! I need the second book already!🔥🔥

4-Star Review: A Dark, Spicy Journey with Surprising Depth

Darcy Fayton's Collared by the Vampire Prince is an engrossing dark romance novel that kept me turning pages late into the night. The plot, an enemies-to-lovers story involving a powerful vampire prince and a fiercely determined wolf shifter, quickly drew me in. While I am no stranger to the darker side of romance, I found this book to be both exhilarating and sometimes overpowering.

Collared by the Vampire Prince — A Review
Collared by the Vampire Prince ♦ Darcy Fayton — A Review

Opinion

The story opens with Kira, a nineteen-year-old wolf shifter who enrolls in Volmasque Academy with a hazardous mission: to unite the wolf packs and fight their vampire overlords. She’s fierce, courageous, and refuses to be controlled, which makes her a compelling protagonist. Enter Nathaniel, a formidable vampire prince who commands every scene he is in. From their initial charged meeting, it is evident that their relationship is both volatile and magnetic.

Darcy Fayton's writing style is fast-paced and captivating, with short chapters that easily draw you in. The tension between Kira and Nathaniel is tangible, and the gradual development of their connection ensures that every moment seems earned. Meanwhile, the plot is deceptively multi-layered. Aside from the sensual sequences (which are plenty and not for the faint of heart), the plot explores themes of vengeance, power battles, and self-discovery.

However, I must say that some of the steamy sequences were too much for me. While they’re unquestionably well-written and consistent with the tone of the novel, some scenes pushed my comfort zone. Readers should notice the content warnings, as the examination of praise and degradation kink, along with explicit BDSM components, may not be suitable for everyone. However, even when I needed a break, the quality of the overall plot kept me interested.

One of the book’s most notable features is its unpredictability. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, Fayton tossed in a twist that entirely changed my perspective. The finale, in especially, is a well-executed cliffhanger that left me dissatisfied in the best way possible, anxious to read the next episode to learn what happens to Kira and Nathaniel.

While the book is largely focused on grim subjects, it never loses sight of its protagonists’ humanity. Despite his frigid attitude, Nathaniel exposes levels of vulnerability that elevate him above the stereotype of the gloomy antihero. Meanwhile, Kira is a formidable force, her resilience coming through even in her darkest moments.

Conclusion

Overall, Collared by the Vampire Prince is a compelling dark romance that strikes a balance between spice and substance. It’s ideal for fans of ethically ambiguous characters, illicit romance, and tense power tensions. While the explicit content may not appeal to many readers, those who prefer pushing the boundaries will be completely intrigued. I can’t wait to see how the narrative continues in Book 2!

⭐⭐⭐⭐A Spicy, Dark Fantasy Romance.

Darcy Fayton's "Collared by the Vampire Prince" is a captivating blend of romance, fantasy, and a healthy dose of steam. The story follows Kira, a human who finds herself entangled with Nathaniel, a vampire prince. Their forbidden attraction is palpable, and the author does a great job of building tension and keeping the reader hooked.

What Works:
* Intriguing Premise: The concept of a human bound to a vampire is a trope I love, but Fayton adds her own unique twist, making the story feel fresh.
* Sizzling Chemistry: The sexual tension between Kira and Nathaniel is off the charts. Their encounters are passionate and leave you wanting more.
* Well-Developed World: There is a rich and immersive fantasy world with its own set of rules and lore.

What Could Be Better:
* Character Development: While Kira and Nathaniel are intriguing, their character development could be deeper. We could learn more about their motivations and pasts.

Overall:
It's a fun and spicy read for fans of dark fantasy romance. It's quick and enjoyable with plenty of steam and intrigue. If you're looking for a lighthearted and sexy paranormal romance, this book is worth checking out.

⚠️Be sure to check the trigger warnings first.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me an E-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Soooo good

Did I expect so much plot for a book that had a heart shaped 🍑 plug on the cover? No….

Was I pleasantly surprised to find myself consumed by said plot? Yes

I would not have guessed this was Darcy’s debut because it immediately pulled me in and kept me intrigued from the first page to the last!

And the characters 🫠 I need more of Kira & Nathaniel’s insane chemistry … and cannot wait to see what unfolds between the two of them in book 2! The spice was definitely spicing 🔥 and I do hope we will get even more detailed and intense s3ggsy times between them in the next book

That cliffy was BRUTAL so you can be sure I will definitely be diving into Plug & Tame immediately!

This book totally hooked me in! We're talking Kira, a wolf shifter, and Nathaniel, the vampire, in this gripping world where she's out to slay vamps 'cause they're ruling over the shifters. It's not as dark as I expected, but whoa, the spice factor is through the roof!

The writing style? Loved it! But there's this constant reminder about Kira's virginity that threw me off a bit. And her whole "I wanna be a leader" vibe seemed a tad shaky. Also, she's like, one setback and she's all about pleasing Nathaniel instead. I mean, come on, girl, what's the deal? You're all revenge-filled, but the effort to lead? Felt a little bit off.

Still, I'm totally hanging for book two! There's something about this world that's got me hooked.

A big thanks to NetGalley for this ARC 🙌

This was a good and interesting read! I loved this different perspective of vampires, werewolves, and witches, and I loved getting to know our FMC Kira.

Kira and Nathaniel's relationship was interesting - maybe it's just me, but I felt like their dynamic was forced in order for there to be spice. Nathaniel loves her, but on her end it feels forced and out of character.
I'd love to see what the next book has in store for Kira and the rest of the Academy, as well as for Nathaniel and his storyline!

This book was so good. So delicious and intriguing. I really love Kira and Nathaniel so much the tension a between them is so stunning. That ending has me in shock I need to read book 2 so badly. I also liked the secondary characters in Susie and Victoria. Also I can't help but think another character will have a bigger part in the second book.

Honestly 1 am a bit conflicted, the beggining was a bit too much. Nathaniel was not coming as expected. All the threats were a bit much. Honestly until probably 75% of the book I wasn’t sure this was going to be better than 3 stars. However the plot got better a got to learn a lot more about Nathaniel.

That cliffhanger was insane, cannot wait for book two.

Unfortunately, this was a 2-star read for me. While I typically enjoy darker themes like this book presented, I just couldn’t connect with this storyline. The plot felt a bit too disjointed, and the characters didn’t draw me in the way I had hoped. I found myself struggling to stay invested, and while the premise had potential, it didn’t quite deliver for me.

Kira is a wolf shifter who has been in hiding from the vampires, trying to live amongst the humans. She was supposed to go to Volmasque Academy, one year ago… but she finally is taken in by Nathanial (the Vampire Prince) on her 19th birthday. She soon finds that her beliefs about vampires, wolves, and even witches isn’t exactly like she was brought up to believe.

Collared by the Vampire Prince is the first book and it does a good job with the world building and setting the stage for what is to come in the second book. It sets the stage of Kira being “owned” by Nathanial and is used as his “pet” in a sexy BDSM way. It also has quite the twist at the end!

He’ll dominate her until she submits.

Kira can only achieve her goal by submitting to the Volmasque Academy where vampires turn wolf shifters into pets and playthings. Nathaniel captures, collars, and dominates her. She hates him but she can’t resist him.

This is a dark enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance with BDSM scenes that ends with a cliffhanger. This is a good starting book for the duology. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Interesting plot with unique qualities!

I enjoyed this book, and I'm excited for the story to continue. For me, there's a great amount of spice mixed with an actually interesting plot, aka it isn't just an erotic story, there IS substance. I rated 4/5 stars for the following reasons:

-there are some obvious grammatical errors that don't seem intentional, so they just irk me - not a big deal and they didn't take away from the story, but I'm a perfectionist!

-Kira's character development shifted in a way I didn't expect nor really like based on how we met her. I expected more from her. After you've read the whole book, you'll know what I mean.

-the beginning of the book was slow for me, and I honestly don't remember how it started. I pushed through, but it took awhile to capture my interest.

+as I said before, I do like the story line. I've read a LOT of fantasy novels with wolves and vampires, and this book has plot lines and fantasy twists I've never seen in other works. I really love the originality and uniqueness of the author's ideas, and I think that's really difficult to do these days!

+the chapters were a good length - sometimes fantasy books can have weirdly short chapters that leave you dizzy, or wayyyyyy to long chapters that make you want to give up on the book. I didn't encounter either issue while reading this one!

+the spice scenes were not overly graphic for me, and they were satisfying. I'll just leave it there ;)

+there were twists that I really didn't expect, but if I were to go back and reread I feel like I'd see foreshadowing - I really like this quality in books because it makes the plot more realistic for me, verses if there's a twist that no one saw coming out of the blue and there isn't really any reason for the twist except to provide a twist. I like the way the author created an opportunity to connect some extra dots during a reread, but not so much that a reread is required to fully understand the story.

Disclaimer: I received an advance review copy for free, and I'm leaving this review voluntarily. I was intrigued by a reel on bookstagram, and the overall read definitely lived up to my expectation!

I received this story as an ARC, and was so pleasantly surprised with the story!! It hooked me right away with Kira (FMC) and the mysterious Nathaniel (MMC)! What isn’t exciting about a wolf shifter and a vampire with plenty of sexual tension! 😅 The story was interesting from the start and the spice was great!! Ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and now I CAN’T wait to see what happens next!!! This is a fun read for all the dark romance, paranormal, fantasy readers!!!

This was spicy. Plot? Somewhat there but not what we’re here for.

We follow Kira and Nathaniel, a werewolf and a vampire, as they develop a peculiar relationship.

The relationship develops very quickly, it does feel a bit insta-lovey. This whole book’s timeline happens in less than a month. Especially the biggest development happened over a weekend.

Plot-wise, there was a good premise but this book is way more a character romance-heavy than an adventure plot-heavy book. We kind of get a « Kira is going to bring the government down », but nothing happens.

Also, the whole thing about Nathaniel needing to get married before his birthday was mentioned quite a few times, but they didn’t do anything to work towards that.

Romance-wise, very very veryyyy fast development. Overnight feelings. But as for the spice, nothing to critic. We’re here for the spice and the spice was delivered. Very heavy on the BDSM.

The bad king is mentioned loads but doesn’t have much impact. The Academy doesn’t make too much sense, we kind of just accept it as it is. Also no explanation for Susie’s situation?

Also that last chapter? Very confused and ickyyyyy.

Overall it’s a fine enough book, don’t go into it for the political plot, go in this for the spice. I’ll read the sequel!

FAVORITE QUOTES (possible spoilers!!!):

« It made little difference to Kira - vampires could suck a dick for all she cared. »

« He was beautiful in the same way a dream was beautiful before it transformed into a nightmare - ominous and clouded with darkness. »

« And for all that the white sock claimed of innocence, he knew she thought of killing him mire than any other wolf he’d ever met. And that was hot. »

« Try as he might, his heart beat only for Kira. »

« Ironically, the prospect of seducing Nathaniel terrified her more than killing him did. »

« In a matter of minutes, her lips would be on the enemy’s cock. »

« He was beautiful. Fucked in the head, but… beautiful. »

« There isn’t a good enough incentive in the world for me to give you up. »

« What does it feel like? » « Like I’m the luckiest man alive. »

Quick Summary: A dark, disturbing supernatural romance

My Review: Plug and Claim by Darcy Fayton is part 1 in the Plug and Claim Duology. It is a BDSM fantasy fiction novel with a slow burn romance, heavy spice, and ever-increasing drama. It presents as an enemies to lovers story.

About the Book: The Revolution between vampires and wolves changed the course of history. A societal hierarchy was established that elevated one group over another. One group became the dominant pleasure seekers, while the other group became passive submissives with a penchant for pleasure taking...if they were open to doing so. Volmasque Academy just so happened to serve as the bridge and point of access for vampires and wolves alike. When wolf shifter and long lost heir, Kirabelle, forcibly entered the halls of the academy for training, she had a specific plan for herself. Unfortunately, the vampire prince had another. For both, what was initially clear quickly became murky and convoluted.

My Final Say: This story was multifaceted. There were so many things at play. I didn't want to miss anything.

What Captured My Attention: (abbreviated to avoid spoilers)

- Although BDSM was a huge part of what was going on in this book, there was actually more to it.

- The leads both had compelling backgrounds.

- The connection that Kira and Nathaniel had was evident from their first encounter until their last encounter.

- The contrast between what was good and what was evil was alluded to throughout.

- The true villain was present even when he was absent.

- The macro/micro scenarios for the groups proved interesting.

- That ending! (Can you say cliffhanger?)

Questions Needing Answers: (coded to avoid spoilers)

- What is the real story behind the lost magic?

- Who is really dead and who is really alive?

- Is there a prophecy that tells the story of the seemingly fated mates?

- How does the puzzle fit together where the triangle is concerned?

- Will the protagonist get what's coming to him?

Other: This book had multiple triggers. It is not for every reader. It gets a HUGE red light rating. All interested readers should thoroughly review the author's notes. You have been warned.

Darcy is a new to me author and so glad I found her on Instagram!! This is a dark romance full of vampires and wolf shifters with lots of heat.🔥🌶

I'm not going in to full detail as I hate leaving spoilers in reviews!! But here ya go. 😊

Nathaniel is a dark and cold vampire and will stop at nothing till he gets what he wants. But he will humiliate, degrade, and violate you till you know who is boss and he owns you!!

This man is the definition of arrogance and wears it well. He is not ashamed to show it to anyone who tries to push his buttons or get under his skin. This includes Kira first and foremost. He is determined to make her his and his alone!! He will claim her for himself!!

Kira is a wolf shifter who was happy on her own, living one day at a time. She laid hidden for so long. That was until she was forced to join Volmasque Academy.

Kira is a fighter and has one goal in mind, and that is to destroy the vampires. She has a great reason why too. But that doesn't come as easy as she first expected. Especially since she is the object of Nathaniel's affection. Or should I say, obsession!!

I love a strong female character. One who doesn't give up so easily to complete her goal. Even when she is down, she still thinking about her next step. But she is so much more than a wolf shifter!! 😍

The spice in this book is hot!! 🔥And the dynamics of Nathaniel and Kira is one no one can resist. His was to claim her and well, let's just say he has his own way of making that happen.

OMG the cliffhanger was huge and not at all what I expected!! 😳 I have to know what happens next. I need book 2 ASAP!!

I received an ARC copy from BookSirens for my honest review.
