Spirits Through Time #3

Forged by the Past: A Time Travel Romance

His heart was cold iron, until she broke through the fissures and lit him aflame.
Beth Carmichael was at the top of her medical career, married to a handsome allergist, and loving life...until she caught her newly minted husband cheating on their wedding day. Jilted and heartbroken, she flees to an antique shop, where an old artifact sends her through time to 1770.
For the widower blacksmith Thomas Brannigan, every strike of his hammer opens a new wound. His days are hollow as he forges bayonets en masse to feed the needs of a burgeoning colonial Boston. But his heart's no longer in it. The spark died along with his wife, as well as his interest in love.
When Beth is mistaken for a serving girl in the home of a wealthy whaler, she's not prepared for the charade...or her dealings with the quiet, hulking blacksmith who makes her run as hot as his forge, even through his icy coldness.
Tempers flare hot against the rising peril of pre-Revolutionary War Boston. While Beth finds acceptance as a midwife, Thomas struggles to tamp down his attraction to the enticing, curvaceous redhead. But with Beth's time in the past running out, Thomas must face losing his heart again or risk Beth's life in the process.

About the author

Aimee Robinson

13 books30 followers
Aimee Robinson is a lover of romance novels in all forms. Her absolute favorites, though, are the ones that offer a little bit of something extra: time travel, guardian angels, good old-fashioned meddlesome grandmothers with a supernatural secret to hide, you name it.

She believes romance novels should transport you from the humdrum to the swoon-worthy, preferably while being curled up on the couch with chocolate and tea (or wine...or both!). Aimee’s overactive imagination lends itself to fun tales with emotional adventures, sexy snark, and happily ever afters.

When not writing or reading, Aimee enjoys spending time with her husband and keeping up with her two young sons.

Beth & Thomas 🥹♥️

4 stars & not 5 because it’s in 3rd person.

Beth is a 21st century midwife, who is going through a tough time when she catches her husband cheating on her AT THE WEDDING. She goes into an antique shop where she is transported back in time to the 1700’s- and she meets our Hero Thomas. Thomas is a widowed blacksmith, a shell of his former self after the lose of his wife and child.

This was so unique and so different. I’m falling into the transported back in time hole because wow I want more! I’m going to start reading the first book in the series now.

“Dorothy’s tornado ain’t got nothing on Beth’s nuclear option. Because last she checked, time tracking back to the pre- revolutionary war era couldn’t be solved by clicking one’s heels. “

Hole - e - crap.
This is a first read for me from the author and I was blown away immediately. I absolutely love this book, and was not disappointed.

Robinson takes us on a magical twist as Beth gets thrown into the past in a pretty incredibly thought out way. I’ve never been so frenzied to finish a book to see how it ends.
My only regret was not waiting until my kids were in bed first, I truly didn’t want to set it down.

Very rarely do I find myself feeling emotion towards a book and it just shows how well an author describes their characters backgrounds.

If you want a fresh romance, are into time travel and want more curvy female leads in your books then you need to check this out!

Quick trigger warning; grief, body image, grief, loss of ; wife /‘child.
* it is book 3 but I read as a stand alone and highly recommend it!

I was humble enough to receive an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book as an ARC to give my honest opinion. Spoilers ahead.

This was my first time travel romance and I really enjoyed it, I found it very interesting and I’m definitely going to read the others in the series. It began a little slow but did pick up after a few chapters and the ending was great. This story follows Beth, she found her husband cheating on her on their wedding day, who finds herself in an antique shop after coming face to face with her ex husband. After touching an ax she ends up in the 1700’s where she meets Thomas a blacksmith after spending two weeks together they fall in love but their luck runs out when time catches up to them and takes her back to 2022. But fate has other ideas when she arrives back to the 1700’s and Thomas for good.

The author described the characters so well that it was hard not to get emotionally attached to them. This book has you on a rollercoaster of twist and turns that makes you not want to stop reading and just sit back and enjoy the ride. I would definitely recommend.

This was my first time travel romance book and oh jeez it makes me want to read more of them.

The story? so good, the conflict in it was perfection. The romance in it, perfection. This is definitely one of my favorite books. Just a little advice? Don't start reading this right before you plan to go to sleep after some light reading. I had just planned to read this for half an hour at most and then ya know 3 hours disappeared.

Thomas? he is such a sweet and perfect man. Supportive and just so sweet. Where can I find me a man like that? The things he says to her, ahhh! Its perfect. I love it.

Beth?? I have to agree with Thomas, her fire is perfect and amazing. She definitely did her best to fit into the time period and I think she did well but it was made obvious by every other character that she was not from there. She is also just a friggin joy, shes funny and her actions just do not fit into place and I love it.

Overall this story was amazing and I am glad its a standalone but I will more than likely be going back to read the other ones. If you want a sweet time travel romance with a bit of spice, not too much probably like a 2 out of 5 for me.

I absolutely loved this time travel romance!!
Beth’s journey into the past was inspired and I loved the spirit world connection. This story was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
I adored Beth and all her body insecurities and when she found love with someone who loved her as she was I cried happy tears for her!! Thomas and his circumstances were written with such care and feeling that my heart actually ached for him as I read.
This was my first book from this author but I want to read more. This book is the third in a series but each can be read as standalones.
I highly recommend for anyone who loves history, time travel and a great romance with a curvy goddess as the female lead.

I was fortunate enough to be given an arc for this book and am leaving my review voluntarily ❤️

Who doesn't love a hot blacksmith?!

Beth and Thomas are a wonderful couple that you find yourself rooting for from the first time they meet. Beth is wonderful character, handling her situation not only with grace, but power as well. I cant imagine if have much sense if i was hurled back in time. But she quick and uses her knowledge and skill to keep going till she can get to her next move. Thomas is just perfect. Swoon worthy if any man ever was. He's kind, gentle and thoughtful. Poor man is fighting a past full of pain, doing his best to keep going. With a dash if history, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Chapter one was a bit of a struggle to be honest, but smooth sailing after that!

Aimee Robinson is a new author for me but so glad I found her! This is the first book I have read of hers and it was a page turner! The heroine of the is absolutely everything! She is a curvy midwife trying to make her way while dealing with a cheating soon to be ex-husband, and also dealing with her insecurities . She walks into a shop trying to escape him and BAM! Ends up in a different time! Then we have our swoon worth hero! Thomas’s character was written so beautifully! I loved this book and highly recommend!

Out of the three books this was my least favorite. That’s not to say it was horrible, it was the opposite. A nice read. Some spots were a bit slow for me although of been having a reading block lately where it’s been hard for me to get into some books. This was an enjoyable read.
Out of the tree the second one was my favorite with the first in a close second.
I’m a bit sad the trilogy is over because I loved the concept but it was nice a nice ending.
Grammar and writing was very well done! Nice writing style. And it had just enough steam.

I loved this story! It mainly takes place in my favorite time period... the Colonial era! This is the 3rd story in the Spirits Through Time series. This one doesn't connect to the first two stories other than they all take place around Boston. It can be read as a standalone! I loved the character, Beth, who in present day is a midwife. When she travels back to Colonial Boston, she encounters Thomas, the local blacksmith. Needless to say, they both need each other more than they realize! It is a sweet story and one where they will get their happy ending! Enjoy the travel back in time! I did.

Interesting

This book had a bit of a slow start but, after a couple more chapters it hooked me. Just a couple things that only have this book a 3 star rating and that was a bit too much sex for me. It wasn't over board but I prefer less sex explanation. I'm a Christian not a prude. Like my books more wholesome. The first too in the series were good as well if I remember correctly cleaner.

After reading all three of the Spirits Through Time books, I am eagerly awaiting additional books from Ms. Robinson. Her writing style is unique and quite colorful with her use of similes. Her incorporation of suspense adds to the romance. I hope she write more books--quickly!

Lovely story, it was such a sweet romance! The feeling between those two was burning so hot, and the grieve of his lost was so raw. The plot twist with his wife was a nice surprise that no one expected. The ending was just perfect, a little predictable but still very sweet and lovely.

Lead-up to the Revolution

I always enjoy a time-travel romance. Although the 1770s is not my favorite time period, the story is entertaining.

What I didn't especially enjoy was the supernatural intervention. I would have appreciated a different route to the outcome.

The opportunity to help a loved one is just too tempting for a spirit like Emily. From the situation that Beth starts out in, things could only improve. Finding herself in another place encountering Thomas made an interesting start to the travel plot. I enjoyed watching the story unfold as both Beth and Thomas learned more abut each other and the situation they were facing. The few details revealed about Emily also helped make sense of things that were happening. Overall, it was a nice conclusion to the series.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily sharing my honest review.
