I love to write romance stories. I also have a day job with Medicare. I just wish I could quit my day job and write full time! I have so many stories rattling around in my head trying to take over my life that half the time I sound like a moron when I'm chatting with friends.

When I'm not writing I am spinning, knitting or reading. Fiber arts are a form of therapy for me, and while I'm spinning or knitting my characters talk to me. So if you look at a piece of my knitting and find an odd hole here and there, I was probably having an intense, private discussion with a werewolf while I was knitting that particular spot.

Creative twist on many popular themes.

Armageddon fifty years in the future with werewolves? Talk about a new twist on an old idea. Add in a rock star named Carla, and Maddy Barone had me mighty curious about her new tale, SLEEPING WITH THE WOLF. She did not disappoint and you will find me following this series in the future. Hmmm. I really hope more of those crash survivors find some shifter men for mates. *cough, cough* (That's a hint Ms. Barone)

Carla got on a plane headed out on a music tour only to crash fifty years in the future. Not only has the world faced Armageddon, but most of the female population has died during various epidemics. While looking for help for other survivors, Carla and a fellow female passenger are captured and then given away as the prize in a Bride Fight.

Taye Wolfe joined the fight once he identified the scent of his mate. Not a foe to be taken lightly, the alpha wolf wins the competition and returns to his den with his new bride only to discover she isn't as excited about their mating as he is.

Ever the gentleman determined to win her love and trust, he sets out to woo the object of his affection. His efforts will make the most stoic reader swoon.

I thought Ms. Barone did a great job of world building. Not only did she have to translate her vision of Armageddon, but she also created a world in which shifters and the clan of Native Americans they arose from are believable and outted to the world at large.

Her portrayal of how a lady of our times would deal emotionally as well as physically under the circumstances was quite believable. In effect, we would all react differently and that is exactly what she has done with her characters in this book and I suspect the subsequent books in the series as well.

Taye is precious as he works to figure Carla out and prove to her that he is a good man who wants her happiness and love. He struggles to understand her and what it means to be a good husband while she struggles to find a place in a new world and new time. Writing songs was a clever way for Carla to become all too human to the readers. It was a peek into her heart and very true to character.

My favorite part has to be when all the young wolves are entranced by Carla. Now that she is the first and only female in the pack, they are mighty curious about her and as boys will be boys, they are super curious about the couple's sex life, listening at the door. All that is girlie is new to them and they are so adorable, discovering their misconceptions about the female gender. As in, we are not all giddy to cook and clean, boys.

There's lots of opportunity for humor and the gal pal club that is popular in many chick lit books as this series progresses and the female population from the past incorporates itself into the future. Boy, would that be a fun cocktail hour to sit in on.

So all you shifter fans, Armageddon fans and romance fans, this is one I definitely recommend you check out. Heck. If you've gotta crash, why not into the arms of a hunky alpha shifter? Enjoy!

The song at the end brought this down to 2-stars. Yikes but this was bad.

Carla takes a plane in the year 2014 and crashes 50 years later, where the world is completely different. Not only did humans decide to annihilate each other in a nuclear war, but also an asteroid fell on Earth, so women are scarce. Back up a moment...so nuclear war + asteriod = no women? How does that make any sense? The birth ratio of boys to girls born in this world is pretty much 50/50 so if boys are born in this new world, you bet your ass that girls are being born too. I know this book has time travel but that doesn't mean you can make illogical shit up without even trying to explain it.

Anyhow, given the scarcity of women, Carla is offered as the prize in a bride fight, where men fight to the right to be her husband. Taye, a wolf shifter, wins Carla and immediately whisks her to his pack. In the book, there's no explanation whatsoever about where these wolf shifters came from. Was it the nuclear war? The asteroid? Or did they always live hidden among humans? Who the hell knows?

Taye is actually a pretty nice guy so there's not much of a conflict. Once Carla realizes she could have gotten it worse, she accepts Taye. The whole "I've learned how to please a woman through romance novels" was pretty funny and actually an inspired idea. We could only wish that a lot of modern men would do the same!

I thought this was going to be steamier and was disappointed when it wasn't. And that song at the end was horrible.

Not continuing the series or trying anything else by this author.

Singer Carla gets on a plane to Denver but the plane crashes, luckily she survives relatively unhurt. However there’s are problem for her and the other plane crash survivors, somehow, they’ve crashed 50 years into the future. A future where women are scarce and Bride Fights take place where men get the chance to gain a wife.

Carla is won by Alpha Taye Wolfe, and the rocky start to their romance begins.

A nice light read overall.

Presently free on Amazon.

A world torn apart by the destruction of terrorist nuclear weapons destroying most major U.S. Cities. An asteroid hit Texas and some sort of epidemic wiped out more women than men leaving behind a very big disadvantage in increasing the worlds population. Set fifty years after the year 2014 is where we crash land and begin a survivors journey.

Known as the “Times Before”, Carla's life had seemed so simple and at the time, fulfilling. No one ever thinks getting on a plane or any other of life's mundane events, will forever alter the course, sometimes literally, of your life, but it can and it could be the best thing to have happened regardless of how initially traumatizing. Carla's a fighter and definitely not going to accept anything without a reasonable explanation. In this story we follow Carla's journey from basically being auctioned off at a Bride Fight to adapting to her new life with her new husband in a completely new world with a new set of rules to follow. Sometimes all it takes to adjust to any change is having the right person by your side.

Taye is as good and wholesome of a man as they come, but he's also the Alpha of a wolf pack, which makes him dominating and possessive. He's ready to defend and protect anything and anyone under his charge including his newly acquired mate, Carla. His patience with her is unending and he shows her the kind of tenderness and love that she hadn't ever experienced. Carla and Taye's story brought me to tears at times, yet managed to make it all worth it with the small successes that Taye earned while gaining Carla's trust.

I found this story to be completely enthralling and hard to put down. There was no action or even intense suspense to hold my attention, but there was very creative writing and strong characters to support a uniquely, engaging story. Although the story is set fifty years after the year 2014, it's almost as if we as a people have been set back fifty years in Maddy Barone's interpretation of Armageddon. It makes sense that we would have start over in some areas of life where modern conveniences have spoiled us, but people interactions among other things has dramatically changed in this new world. Most of these changes directly or indirectly affect women and bring us back to the mindset that women are meant to have children and mind the home.

Every character introduced has a story just waiting to have light shed on it and I can't wait to see what Maddy Barone comes up with next.

What a great read!
The story starts out in the year 2014 when Carla an up and coming country music star boards a plane going to her next gig. The plane crashes, but somehow it is transported into the future 50 years. What is left is the remains of a civilization after a nuclear war. No electricity, no cars, no shopping centers. Shortly after the war there were epidemics that all but took most of the female population.
Not knowing where they were or the time they were in, Carla and another women by the name of Lisa volunteer to go look for help for the other survivors of the plane crash.
After walking for a couple of days, they come across a lot of abandoned farms and buildings. They finally stubble upon a farming community. The farmers take them in...and they sell them to "The Mayor" of the next town.
The Mayor organizes a "Bride Fight" in which 12 contestants compete to win a bride, and both Carla and Lisa are the prize.
After the fights are finally done, Carla is won by Taye Wolfe, Alpha of a Wolf pack.
From this point on the story gets very interesting. Taye knows that Carla is his mate, because his wolf chose her, and the man in him also knows that she is the right women for him.
There relationship starts with fear, and mistrust, but Taye begins to 'show' Carla that he loves her rather than forcing himself on her. His seduction methods are really quite amusing, because all he has to go on are old Romance novels from 'the Time before' (which is what the time before the war was called).
The author takes 'the piss out of' romance novels and it's really quite funny!
In one part of the book Taye is trying to seduce Carla into 'finally' sleeping with him and has set out certain steps that have to be followed before this can happen, and is describing body parts as a steamy romance novel (however not well written) might.

"No, no sweetheart. It's not time for me to let my warrior of love conquer your tunnel yet."

Carla's character in the novel is giggling in the book saying "What"? And I'm laughing my ass off reading this!

I was really surprised by this story and look forward to reading the next one in the series.

King of all cheeses * Mother to stilton

It took me up til about 40% to start enjoying this; I actually contemplated giving up a couple of times before that. But I finished, so hooray for me.

Anyway, this was slow. It did have some good ideas - the bride fights - erm, yes well one good idea then, I can't think of any others, apart from the world setting. The rest of the book is just a gentle story of love with lots of naked wolves and steak.

That's not to say it was bad cause it wasn't, I enjoyed it. The end though WOW really sappy.

Safety gang - He was a virgin, she had had two partners. There aren't condoms for them to use. She pushed him away for a bit. Think that's it.

A pretty nice post apocalyptic shifter story. Good world building and descriptions and decent rationale behind the lack of women and the way they were guarded and treated in the new world. I liked the virgin alpha who read pre-apocalypse romance novels so that he would be ready for a woman assuming he ever got one. I liked the way that the wolf shifter mythos was set up. The characterization of both leads was good. I'm looking forward to reading more in the series.

Thanks Melissa for loaning it to me.

*round of applause* More! More! Where's the sequel? Damn. There isn't one yet. I'm a little disappointed. I was all ready to do business with that horrible "one-click" button.

We have Carla, a rising musician catapulted 50 years (via a plane crash) into a post-apocalyptic future where women are so scarce they're looked upon with curiosity and lust everywhere they go. Women stealers are everywhere and rape is a near certainty if they walk around unprotected.

In the aftermath of the crash, Carla and Lisa volunteer to find aid for the wounded survivors. They're tricked and sold into a Bride Fight where men fight for the women to become their brides. The women have no say in the matter.

These two get lucky. Their winning males are gentle with them. Carla gets Taye, a hot Native American Alpha werewolf for a mate, who's read many romance novels to ensure he can seduce and please his woman! Lisa, a blond but jealous sex god.

Taye is tender and gentle with Carla, his Lupa. As is his pack. He wants her to be happy so he acquires the most thoughtful presents for her but Carla doesn't give in easily:
"Fire!" She jerked her hand away from him. "Gotta put the fire out...I mean, put wood on the fire!" She squirmed out from under him, fell out of bed in a sprawl of flailing limbs, and scrambled up to lunge for the small woodpile under the window. She blindly tossed some in to the stove and fled to the bathroom.

But when she does. It's not only hot but hilarious. Taye has never seen or touched a naked woman before, and he's mesmerised. He innocently announces the anatomical names of her lady parts as he sees and touches them. Not only that but he insists on a step-by-step seduction process, right out of the romance novels he's studied. A verrry loooong process. He tortures poor Carla. But I can't feel too sorry for her because she gets what she wants in the end. ;)

I'm pleasantly surprised I liked this so much. Usually a short-ish story + debut novel + first in series + paranormal romance = one crappy book. Not so!

I love the premise, the characters have solid personalities and the writing was spot on. The world-building was expertly done. It had a slightly cheesy ending but that's all the bad there is. I enjoyed this immensely.

I'm desperate to find out what happened with the other survivors. How Stag will fare with his mate Sherry who's too scared of his wolf to even begin to consider him as her husband. How Shadow is going to get a very depressed Glory, grieving for the life she's now realised is lost to her, to love him again. And most importantly of all, the outcome of the indication that Quill is interested in Ellie as his mate.

So, Ms. Barone. Where's my sequel?

I was conflicted with how I felt about the story line, mainly because it was about Carla who was a rising country singer in 2014 and she was going to Denver, CO when her plane crashed and landed her in Nebraska, 2064 where there were no cars, buildings, nor women! Taye was among the men who had a bridal fight to win her to be his mate since there were no women there and 1000's or men, or should I say wolves? My conflict was thinking that the romance was with a wolf, but later in the book it made it clear that he was in the form of a man at those times. LOL It was almost like Beauty and the Beast.

Throughout the book what I loved about it is that Taye was a wolf and he was the Alpha of the Pack, so he had his gruff nature; however, he protected Carla no matter what. He understood how she was from a different world and saw things differently and allowed her "space" to acclimate to her new position. He realized how much she missed music so he went out of his way to do something very special for her so she could somehow be involved in music again. There were other things from her past life in 2014 that he went out of his way to make happen for her so she would feel more at home and be happier.

I really enjoyed this book. Carla gets on a plan to Denver but crashes only slight problem is that she has crashed 50 years into the future. There she is auctioned off in the Bride Wars were women are rare and to each 1000 women there are 4000 men. She is won by Taye Wolfe and they have a rocky start. This book is a lot of fun to read.

As Taye has had no experience with women he has read Erotica novels. Some of the things he said were really funny.

"One book I read called it the woman's hot tunnel of joy.. I don't understand that, but-" One of his fingers slid into her slowly. "-it is like a tunnel, isn't it? And you are warm inside."

Another one was

"No, no sweetheart. It's not time for me to let my warrior of love conquer your tunnel yet." "Your what?" "My penis. He will have to wait a while yet. We're not ready for that step yet."

There were many intriguing aspects to this story (time-travel, distopian/post-apo, shifters...etc) but they could have executed a little better.

Some questions are left unanswered; maybe they will come in the next books.

One thing I really enjoyed is the hot attraction that develops between Carla and Taye...once she decides to get her head out of ass that is :D

This was a very good story. I liked both Carla and Taye and the story was interesting with good potential for the series. This is the first story I've read by this author but I liked it well enough that I plan to try more of her work in the future.

Carla is a country singer and has worked hard to make it big. She's just hitting stardom when her airplane crashes and Carla and the other survivors find themselves in a strange world that's much changed from what they came from. The buildings are old and decrepit and there doesn't seem to be any technology functioning. Carla and another woman named Lisa head out to try to find help and end up as prizes in a bride fight. With the scarcity of women in this post-apocalyptic world, women of marriageable age aren't safe without a good man to keep them safe and provide for them. Carla is very unhappy about their circumstances but has no idea how to get back home and fears she's stuck in this new and crazy world.

Taye is a wolf...a man that can turn in to a wolf (they wont call themselves werewolves because they're not ruled by the moon). He is the alpha of his pack of around 50 men/wolves. He's thrilled to find that one of the women in the bride fight has been chosen by his wolf as his mate. Taye is determined to beat all challengers that stands between him and his mate.

Well the other challengers might as well have saved themselves the entrance fee because a wolf will not be denied his mate. Taye wins the fight and claims Carla as his bride. Carla is completely freaked about being stuck in this new reality and the fact that she's being given away as a prize for a fight. She is very belligerent with Taye for the first part of their time together, not letting him near her and trying not to accept her circumstances and place as his wife/mate. To be honest I couldn't blame her... I mean what would I act like within a couple days of getting transported in to what seems to be a nightmare? Probably about the same as Carla. It's likely that no woman would take it very well, especially since she then was fearful that Taye would rape her as part of their wedding night. Taye takes her home to their packhouse and along the way some men try to steal Carla (which apparently isn't an unusual thing to happen in this time). Taye and his men protect her and she does a little damage herself and they're able to get safely home.

Their first night together doesn't go well but it could have been worse. Taye manages to get Carla to believe that he wont hurt her or rape her (promising to wait until she wants him in return) but she doesn't want his touch or to accept him as her mate. There is an attraction on both sides but Carla is not open to it and tries to keep it shut down. Taye tries to figure out how to convince her to give him a chance and let him near her. While explaining the pack and her new life, Taye shows her his wolf and Carla surprises him by not being scared of his wolf. Things get rather tense when another wolf challenges Taye for leadership and Carla and Carla realizes she was lucky to end up with Taye for her husband/mate. She begins to soften to Taye and he helps things along as he does things to take care of her and make her happy. She realizes what he's doing and appreciates how sweet he's being and it's not too long before she gives in to her attraction and Taye's need for her. They're both very pleased at how things go and their relationship improves. In the mean time, Carla manages to get Taye to send some wolves to check out the crash site to help the other survivors...sweetening the pot by mentioning that there's more women survivors which has the wolves anxious to go (leading to the next books in the series). The story ends with Taye and Carla doing well and starting their HEA together.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked the Carla and Taye. Carla was a little tough to love in the beginning but I could completely understand because of what she was dealing with and all. I liked that she wasn't stupid and came to realize that Taye is a good man and decided to give him a chance. Taye was hot and sweet and a good hero all around. I'm planning to try the next story in the series soon. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up. :D

* note - I listened to the audiobook version of this book. The narrator did a fine job but she's not the best with voices that I've ever heard. It didn't ruin the story for me or anything...it just wasn't great.

Love this debut novella about dystopian time travel and werewolves, sorry, men who transform into wolves, not werewolves.

Carla jumps on a plane in 2014 and when it crashes its 2064. The world as we know it is gone, nuclear bombs, asteriods, and most of the women have died of a mysterious illness. Therefore any new women who turn up are precious and cannot be left to roam around without a husband.

This is Taye Wolfe's world and as soon as he sees Carla he knows she is his mate. This is their story, how Taye got Carla to accept him and become the Lupa of his pack.

Really looking forward to the next instalment.

This had potential, however it wasn't realised. The main female character is annoying, the main male character is too perfect and it is too short. This needed a little more work, a little more depth and it would have been quite good. That been said if you like this type of book you can give it a read to me it wasn't offensive just a little clumsy.

Cute book. Taye was adorable and I loved his "plan" for sleeping with Carla. I also loved the hilariously purple prose he was quoting to her. This was my favorite scene and I was laughing through the whole thing:

I'm still amused by this and I'd definitely be interested in reading more in this series.

Great start to a fascinating new series. A fresh new spin on modern times meets post apocalypse. I am very intrigued in seeing where this series is headed.

Carla is a really interesting character, she struggles with coming to terms with her new circumstances. The attraction with Taye is immediate, and she does put up a good fight. How can she resist a smexy Alpha wolf who is set to love and seduce his mate! They have a great dynamic, even though things happen quickly the feeling seem real.

The narrative is mostly from the two leads POV and alternates between them. Really great for understanding both sides of the story! Really seamless changes were easy to follow.

There are many supporting characters introduced and I am very interested in hearing all their stories. Imagine being thrown fifty years into the future! Whoa what a big thing to have to adapt to and then find out there was an Apocalypse when you vanished from your time! Loads of meat on this story.

The smexy stuff is uber delicious!! I could really go for an Alpha guy who has learned how to please his woman from all the best erotic novels! Okay, the terms he learns for the fun parts are a touch off, but the idea is there!! Oh la, I definitely sign up for that seduction!! Plenty of yummy details will get ya hot and bothered!!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Clementine Cage, she rocks!! Great voices and a real feel for the movement of the story. She reads at a nice quick pace, love that, but if you like it slower you can slow it down on Audible. Really enjoyed the pairing of this narrator with this intriguing series! I am excited to hear more of her of the rest of the books.

Overall, I am really intrigued by this new series. Yummy Alpha men who are also wolves, I am a sucker for shifters! This is a new concept for me and I am definitely hooked!

I really liked this once I got over the idea of werewolves in a post-apocalypse world. Taye was awfully sweet for a werewolf. If I were Carla I would have fallen for him pretty quick too. :) I've reaed this book a second tme and liked it even better.

Carla is a modern woman from 2014, but her plane crashes in 2064, when women are decimated by a plague that came after nuclear war. America has gone back to living like it's the Old West again. Since women are valuable trade items, Carla and Lisa are traded to the mayor of Kearney.he puts them up as prizes to be won by whichever man is tough enoughto win a series of fights. Carla isn't too happy to suddenly be the property of a man she doesn't even know. he turns out to be a werewolf who really really wants her to love him. He won't force her ot sleep with him but he does everything he can to coax her to love him.

I wish I could find a guy like Taye Wolfe. I'd go after him in a minute!

This was pretty interesting. Lisa's plane has crashed 50 years in the future. Things are not like they used to be. There are no cars, no electricity, no cell phones, no computers and horrors of all horrors.....NO INTERNET!

Taye is a shapeshifting wolf and wins Lisa in a Bride Fight. What happens next is Lisa's adjustment ot a new world order. As well as Taye's adjustment to having a strong independent woman who wasn't raised in this new world order.

I liked this book. It was interesting. Only one thing really confused me. If women are so scarce, where did all the men come from? There seemed to be quite a few men that were younger than 50 years. I guess they were the children on women who were babies or young children 50 years ago.

Can't wait to read the rest of them!

I don't remember when or where I first saw this book, but it sounded intriguing so when I saw it again, I grabbed a copy. It completely exceeded my expectations. It was so good, I quickly requested the next several books as well. This is very much a cross between Post Apocalyptic and Paranormal Romance with a touch of Urban Fantasy mixed in; but the basics boil down to the courtship and romance between Carla and Taye. He knows that she is his mate, but she needs some convincing to understand this new world she has found herself in and where she fits now that everything she knew is gone. There were so many questions in my mind about what happened and how it came to be, that I immediately dived into book 2, Wolf's Glory to find out more.

I really enjoyed this story. It was light hearted and fun!!! Watching the male wolves adjust to living with a woman was a real treat. However I was kind of expecting something a little be more emotionally gripping or a little bit more complex when I read the blurb.

This book is GREAT if you are in the mood for something light. If you were in the mood for something a little bit more complex then just wait till your in the right mood for this book.

I really recommend this story. Just read it when your in the right frame of mind.

It only took me a few hours to read this book. Granted, I'd read it twice previously while proof-reading it, but this was the first time I read it in published format. (Yes, you can find my name in the dedication.) Still a good book, just like I told Maddy when I first read it. Anxious to read the rest of the books now. :)

Even though some of the dialogue was a bit corny, I liked the story and the world building. Will be reading more in this series.

This story has a good premise but there several details that just... no, I didn't find this appealing and it's sad because the potential was there.

Wow. Interesting premise involving time travel, nuclear war, asteroid hitting earth, an epidemic, Wolf shifters, and no females being born. Ok, now you are ready for chapter 2!
I like the premise, love me a planet of virgin hero’s. Gotta love shifter’s who are worried their curvy girls will lose their curves. Always encouraging to eat up. I enjoyed this strong heroine even if I personally would not be talking back to my captures.
This book is good of you are looking for a little smut to read but I think this author, if she wanted to, could have expanded all the details I listed about and made this into a full on sci-fi novel. But maybe that was not her goal.
The only thing that took a star off for me is that some of the dialogue was a little… elementary…? While reading it all of a sudden I was transported out of the story and was instead critiquing the writing. It wasn’t terrible it was just… a skill that needs improving.

The virgin hero is truly a virgin but he has read sexy romance novels to learn how to please a mate. He is innocent and has a plan of seduction but he is not able to actually follow though on all the steps. It seems his Wolf is not as shy as he is.

Innocence of virgin hero: 3/5
Innocence in losing it: 4/5
Build up to losing it: 5/5
Hotness of losing it: 3/5
POV: female
Busted touching himself: no

Kay so this was a pretty short read. So i am going to do a shortened version of my types of reviews. (Also two stars didn't mean i hated this book so please don't think that, it was an alright book and i would give it a 2.5 stars but well you will see why) well maybe not

The song choice, and yes i am cheating because this song was in the book would be "Love Me Tender" Cover by Norah Jones though.

First thoughts: it was okay. I mean i thought the concept was really interesting when i first came across it, and it started out like running which i love. But in the end there wasn't a whole lot going on. i kept expecting more action, more i suppose story, but there just wasn't. I guess if i went into this with the mind set of a romance story verses action-y/adventure mixed with romance i might have felt differently. So there is that. But my thing with the romance was that i found it hard to believe. So moving onto plot because it will just end up talking about that for a page and a half.

Plot: Like i mentioned before there wasn't a whole lot of action in this book. There was actually one scene i recall that was like action-y. I thought well since the future, also 50 years into the future and the world has changed so much in one generation? That was something i was having a hard time believing that within a short period of time all this could have changed, not only that but the wolf (cause they are not werewolves) race has suddenly appeared? If we were under the assumption that they had been there before this world went to hell, and came out of the shadows because there was no real reason to hide, yes i would have liked that better, believed it more as well. Taye's and Carla's romance was okay at best. I mean the things Taye did was really sweet but this is more of character thing so i will wait on that subject. But this was more of a story about wooing a girl then it was about anything else. And i found i was longing for more, i wanted to learn more about their new world, how could everything go to hell so quickly? it seems like the population was reduced by at least 75% and it was because of meteors? i am not even really sure... so there could have been a lot done, especially with Carla, like she was really against this whole idea, and she seemed like an Alpha girl, meaning she would take charge and do something about her situation. I kept waiting for her to escape, or try to but she never did. Again this is more of a character thing so i am going to do that.

Characters:

Carla: I didn't understand her. She was involved in a plane crash, thrown 50 years into the future, being prepared to be fought over to be a wife, and then won by a wolf man and she is okay with this? all of this? no real remorse about the plane crash? she completely forgets about the people they left behind to get help for until what like her third day with Taye? I was like what the heck? Not only that but the first time she was scared out of her wits, BUT YET doesn't ever try to escape once, which she seems like the girl that would try, once, twice, and three times just to make sure she really couldn't do it. I mean she knew that they had horses, and she was a champ barrel racer, i think she can handle a horse... Then she comes around too easily for my taste, and their love felt very surface-y. I don't completely hate Carla or anything but she was unrealistic to me and hard for me to really care about because i wanted her to do so much more. She did make one comment that i liked which she said that they might not have true love right at the moment but it would grow, kay i like it. But i just thought of something else, she said that she was deeply in love with the only other two men she had ever slept with and that is what she would wait for...well congrats you held out for two days i think? and she was just so resolved to staying with him forever, when she made not attempt to escape once. UGH UGH UGH. sorry i am done ranting, i am really sorry i didn't mean to go off like that....

Taye: Was alright, but honestly i couldn't get over this feeling that he was like an 18 year old boy. I just was like you are kid and Carla is an adult...why in the world are you paired. Even when he was suppose to be commanding, and demanding he was sort of just meh. his love making skills are par at best for a lover boy in a book. sorry... again a lot of potential just not quite reaching full out awesome status.

Will i read the next one? Well as soon as someone mentioned a goth girl with pink hair being mated with a mountain of a man, i was like hmmm...i would read that story. And guess what it is the next book in the series, woot woot. But i am going to go in very cautious and look at reviews, because i just jumped into this book excited about it.

Alright um me being witty...damn i am to lazy. Don't kill me please, if you decide maybe this book isn't for you at the moment, but maybe later, or you decide this looks like the greatest book ever then i encourage you to try it out, don't take my word for it because what the hell do i know? but i do know that i like indie authors, i think they are awesome that is why i have a blog full of indie authors with reviews on their books so if you deserve to check that out you can. here is the link

Not very happy about book 1 being so short. That's a dirty trick to play on people. Beware this is a very short and I mean short story.

This was a quick read. I wish it had had more depth to it. More meat and more heat as well. I will probably read the other books, between more intense reads.
I just felt like it was all just a bit too easy.

The plot interested me but I didn't enjoy the writing style. I thought the h's self absorption was understandable but didn't like her at all. I won't continue with this series.

The concept of this book is quite fun when you think about it.

It's about the woman who ends up in the future where there is no electricity of any kind, and men fight for her hand just to be "won" by a werewolf (but he is not a werewolf he say, but a man who becomes a wolf, but I mean honestly ... what is the difference now days?)

So I can not complain that it is not unique and original

I like the character
Carla is very independent and even if she thinks that everything around her is crazy, so can she still stands on two legs and speak her mind.
Taye is a hot, Alpha man who knows what he wants, but is willing to wait to show how much he cares about her and that he would never hurt her, and that matter and some other things make him so cute (and hot...)

The reason why it got 3 stars is because even if it is unique, it is still quite predictable, the book is only really about if she can accept the world she has fallen into, and if she can accept Taye.
so I can not say that it was nail biting

But it was a sweet and unusual book that was a fun and quick reading
