Detecting Danger

He could no longer deny what was inside him

When you knew someone almost as well as you knew yourself, you tended to take them for granted. Warwickshire Sinclair had always felt that way about Lady Samantha… until he didn’t.

When Samantha left for a year to study art, he was determined the ache of longing and worry that had taken up residence in his chest would ease. It hadn’t. Life had seemed dull without her.

When she returns to them, Warwick can no longer deny what is inside him. Samantha held his heart. Completely and utterly. But the letter she carried had the power to change their lives forever. They must fight to secure her freedom and keep her safe. Only then could he forge a future with the woman he loved.

Will she forfeit her happiness to keep him safe?

The day she realized she was free of the hell she’d been raised in, Samantha vowed she would make each day of her life count. Her family thought her sweet and gullible: she was neither. Samantha was determined to be happy, even if that meant seeing Warwick Sinclair every day. He’d always seen her as a friend, and that would never change, no matter how much the connection between their families determined it should.

When a letter arrived just as she was to return home, the contents sent her back to the terrified child she’d once been. Even from the grave her father had power over her.

Her powerful family vowed they would not allow it to happen. But if she did not acquiesce to the terms of the letter, she brought trouble down on the heads of those she loved most.

Can they overcome the threat Samantha’s father had sent her from the grave? Or will their destiny be unfulfilled?

This is my 36th book by Wendy Vella. I have been reading her since 2016 and consider her one of my favorites. This has been a wonderful and interesting series and I’ve enjoyed all the books.

I enjoyed reading about Samantha and Warwick. I loved the slow burn between these two. An overall really good read. Sad to see this series finish but glad to see another one coming up.

I will miss the Sinclairs and the Ravens, although I know I will read all these stories again and again.
This series has been an all-time favourite for me. Thank you Wendy Vella! 5☆

Finally, we get to read Warwick and Samantha’s long anticipated HEA, and it did not disappoint! Samantha and Warwick are all grown-up now, and like a berry that ripens over a long season, what they feel for each other is bursting at the seams.

All the Ravens and Sinclairs around them can feel it, have known it for years, and are waiting with bated breath to finally witness them succumb to the love and passion clearly featured in their eyes. These meddling family members do what they do best, meddle, which places Warwick on the banks of the harbor listening as Samantha cries out for help. What follows is 5 hours of reading where love and a fair amount of not-to-be-missed adventure is in full display. It’s a real treat.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you like your Regency romance novels with a bit of mystery, intrigue, and humor, then I highly recommend this book! It can be read as a stand-alone HEA, but it's way more enjoyable if read as a series.

Detecting Danger is the last in Wendy Vella's Raven-Sinclair series and the one we've all been waiting for: Warwick and Samantha's story. They are both such strong characters and it was great to see them finally realize they were meant for each other (especially with a little help, ahem, meddling from family and friends). As the last book in the series, I don't think it could have ended any better!

Fabulous! I have loved this entire series and this book continued the story of these wonderful families. I hate this is the last couple but I have enjoyed reading each story in the series. Sam and Warwick definitely had more than their share of adventures which kept me eagerly turning the page to see what would happen next. I also enjoyed see the rest of the family and how they interact with each other. I am looking forward to the new series!

loved the series

It was expected that Warwick and Samantha would get together but it was written so well. Through reading the series you watch them grow up and mature. Samantha had to leave for a year so that Warwick would feel a lose without her. The villains were surprising and this book focused on all the family and the younger generation. It would be fun to have a Victorian set of books with the younger generation but since they are all Sinclair/Raven blooded they can’t marry each other but perhaps Dillinger’s and Devilles? Loved this series could not wait for this book. My favorite book families. Love the values taught within this book and the easy camaraderie between characters. Each character had such a well defined personality. This was a wonderful finale to a series.

Truly loved the whole series!

In this last book of the Sinclair and Raven families, Warwick and Samantha are both experiencing the new feelings of finally noticing that they are attracted to each other. Unsure how to act toward each other is sometimes painful and humiliating. But danger puts them closer together time and again. Strong and large families together with special gifts from a mysterious legend in their past is there surrounding and supporting them through out the dangers that threaten them.
I would recommend this whole series to those that love action, mystery, romance, strong family and friends. With a little fun and super powers (gifts) through out.
Its full of loving families, young and old, and loving pets too.

Thank you

Thank you for giving your readers such a wonderful journey with the Ravens and Sinclairs. Every member of the families was interesting on their own right and I loved how you brought them together.

Warwick and Samantha's story was fantastic! As much as I did not want this series to end, this book has the mystery, suspense and romance that made for a perfect finale of the Raven/Sinclair series. Thank you Wendy Vella for writing this amazing page turner series!

Detecting Danger by Wendy Vella

I have been waiting in eager anticipation (and dread) for this book to be released. This is the story of the youngest Sinclair siblings, Warwick Sinclair and a Raven that he teased and annoyed for many years as they grew up. Warwick and Samantha’s story is the last book in the Raven/Sinclair series.

He was a young child in the first book and it has been wonderful reading each of the family members find love and the youngest three (the twins and Warwick) have grown up along the way.

It was wonderful to finally have Warwick and Samantha realise they should be together. Typically Wendy threads intrigue, adventure, and humour in a thoroughly enjoyable story.

Even if you have not read any of the earlier books, as with all books in this series, they can be read and enjoyed as ‘stand-alone’ stories.

I would hate to spoil the enjoyment of the story by giving away all the twists and turns of the tale but will only say that if you love this series, read this, you will not be disappointed. (I read the book in one day - couldn’t put it down)

Great plot, it was obvious that the Sinclair and Ravens had pretended to be ill at the start and that the painter was a baddie...But, I pride myself on guessing these things..... I would of liked the box to of shown that the Sinclair father was not as bad as they thought but a double spy agent actual on the side of the King of England..... and much of what they thought of him was his cover....and took him away from home for long periods, hence why he had, so many children out of wedlock...
It is a shame this is the last book.... I would love to have a new series of the next generation...their story could be very different being brought up with stronger gifts and in a very loving over protective family... will some of them rebel.... just feel like reading this book again... or maybe even starting with book 1 again and reading the whole series..
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I know exactly why this was the last pairing in the series: it’s the one I’ve been anxiously awaiting since I first started reading about Sinclairs and Ravens. I feel a lot like their families, having paired Warwick and Samantha up pretty much from the beginning. I had no idea it was going to take this much work to bring them together, though. Through danger and treachery, and just the general chaos of the Sinclair and Raven families, Warwick and Samantha kept me on the edge of my seat and kept me laughing even under the most dire of circumstances. It kills me to know that this is the end of the series, but having seen so many of the author’s characters cross into one another’s books, I have great faith that this won’t have been my last foray into the heart of this very special clan.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.

Oh, what a bittersweet read – the end of an amazing series has arrived… Wendy Vella had me hooked from the beginning of the series when Eden Sinclair rescued her Duke, and each book after wove tales of love, friendships, family, and fantastic mysteries.

Readers were introduced to Warwick Sinclair and Samantha Raven as children, and over the years read as they grew up, wondering if they too would find love! Really – hoping that they would end up each other’s Raven and Sinclair.

Now we know how it all ends!

Of all the stories in this series, this one was perhaps one of the most anticipated. Warwick and Samantha grew up together, so it’s easy to understand why they would fight the inevitable when feelings changed. But in this family destiny always wins out.

“Detecting Danger” is not only Warwick and Samantha’s story, but concludes with some resolution as to why the Sinclair and Raven families are connected the way they are. Typically I would write that each of Wendy Vella’s books are written in a way that you could read each as a standalone, but always recommend reading in order. You could read this one as a standalone as well, BUT don’t! Start from the beginning – read how these characters grow and finish the series reading how they find their own HEA and why destiny can’t be fought!

Samantha and Warwick's story was such a wonderful way to wrap up this amazing series! I love that Samantha had a chance to step away from the family for a year, and seeing how things changed between Samantha and Warwick as soon as she returned. It's always enjoyable to see characters who are meant to be try to fight the inevitable! I love getting to revisit both the Raven and Sinclair families and see other familiar faces along the way. This is a book I couldn't put down! I finished quickly and was sad when it's over, but happy to see the both families settled with their true loves! Time to go back and re-read book one in the series! :)

I’m DNF at 47%. I did read these out of order, but the “reason” the MMC is resisting and denying all the signs that they should be together, is because they grew up together, so that makes them like brother and sister. He likes her, he’s attracted to her, all signs point to them as belonging together, but he’s like “we knew each other growing up, so we’re like brother and sister”. How is that a good reason for all this bickering and resistance? You knew her before, when she was a kid, that means you can’t/shouldn’t fall in love with her. Why not? Why is it bad? It’s nonsense.

Detecting Danger is a phenomenal historical romance by Wendy Vella. I totally loved this well-written story but sad that this series is ending. Warwickshire and Samantha grew up together and teased and fought like brother and sister. After a year away in Ireland, Samantha is coming home and Warwickshire is sent to meet her ship and bring her back to London. Their story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. Kudos to Wendy Vella for providing readers with a whole series of spectacular stories. Detecting Danger is book 10 of the Sinclair and Raven Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

perfect ending

This was such a bittersweet book! I have loved the Sinclair and Raven series for years. I love seeing old and new faces in these novels. To be honest, I have been waiting for Samantha and Warwick’s story since the very first book! This has all of the witty dialogue, heat, and suspense that Wendy Vella has mastered. I will miss these characters but I can’t wait to re read this series! So brilliant and well done!

Opening one’s eyes and heart.

I have loved reading about the Raven and Sinclair’s for several years and have read the books several times. I could not wait to finally read Warwick and Samantha’s story. I’m sad it is ending but am glad they finally had their happily ever after.
They have known each other for years and they loved to taunt and tease each other. But Lady Samantha needed to go away for herself. She spent a year in Ireland with a painting master to hone her skills. She and her maid are making the crossing to Wales and are in need to help.
Warwick is sent to retrieve Samantha and her maid and know that something is not right. He finds Samantha half frozen and her maid with a broken arm on the ship. They both need to get home as soon as possible but someone has other plans and tries to abduct Lady Samantha. Warwick was able to save her. What he and her family doesn’t know is that she’s being blackmailed from something her evil father did.
With Samantha trying to protect her family, someone trying to kidnap her, to Warwicks unusual behavior towards her, it’s no wonder she is off.
A wonderful story with a beautiful ending.

Reaction

I loved this story! Samantha and Wharwick have grown up together from childhood with the interconnected Sinclair/Raven family. Their fierce determination not to follow the usual relationship of their families is hilarious. As they swing from anger to concern for each other , he tries to keep her safe. The ending has been satisfying and sad as we say goodbye to the series. This is one of my favorite go to retreads just because.

Finally!

I have been waiting for this story since... well I won't say from the beginning because as young as Warwick and Samantha were in the first book, I honestly didn't know if the series would continue until they grew up, but I have been looking forward to it for a while. It did not disappoint!
Watching Warwick and Samantha realize their love for each other was incredibly sweet and wrapped up the series beautifully.

Happy and saddened that the series has ended. These families were so easy to love. You grow to care about them and with the story of Samantha and Warrick you know the end was arriving. I highly recommend these series but please read in order, you will not be disappointrd. I will miss you Sinclair and Raven's.

So worth the wait!

Loved loved loved this book. It was everything I hoped for in a Wendy Bella novel. These families are wonderful and I am sorry that the series has ended but there is hope to the future generation to have their stories told. I would also love a family tree available to regress my mind of who belongs with whom. Read in 2 days. May read again right away! Enjoy!
