Mercenary Mage #3

Mercenary Monarch

Rate this book
War. Conquest. Betrayal. Reeve has come out on top of his enemies, the gods themselves. The Mage has finally created the first iteration of the System, and although it falls silent, he knows it's still there. Planning. Plotting. Doing who knows what. He has found answers that have led him to far more questions than he had before. Who is pulling the strings behind the scenes? Why are the gods going along so compliantly with his conquest? Where in the nine hells is Jax? Is the Entity still around? These questions, however, are soon to be the least of The Mage's worries as his hard-fought peace is shattered. A blitzkrieg of epic proportions, betrayals in the least likely of places for the most absurd reasons, and an event that threatens to take everything away that he had fought so hard to protect. Coupled with an overwhelmingly powerful enemy that he can't come close to contending with, the Silver Imperium is torn asunder as Reeve is thrust onto a path of self-destruction and galactic annihilation. Join Reeve, his wives, his children, and the few friends he has left alive as they battle through the final stages in his journey of conquest and vengeance. Experience his losses, and his gains, and gain the answer who has been behind this entire string of devastating events. And just what the hell they want. Will Reeve come out on top? Will he finally succumb to the enemies that surround him? Can he resist the urge to descend into utter madness? Or will he fall, doomed to become a footnote in the obliteration of the multiverse?

Lesson learned: When a book is starting to delve into esoteric concepts, beware. This is a sign that the author has no clue on how to continue the story and is trying to confuse the readers into thinking it is a half decent plot. People insecure in their intellect will believe they are following when in truth even the author doesnt know what he is writing about. Even if the author has a vague notion of the concepts, be aware of the plot. The plot in this book went no where. It was a roller coaster of confusion veiled in cryptic mumbo jumbo.

Did not finish.

This was suppose to be a restart that developed into a story. A quarter of the way through and this was just a soup with anything that could be found thrown in. This series has run on pure fun and never developed a coherent story. At a certain point, enough is enough.
