Ichor #3

Delphi

Rate this book
Eighty-eight years has passed since the war with Kronos ended and humanity was freed from enslavement. The world is rebuilt and peace has become an achievable glory.

Yet, when there's a calm, a storm is always following behind.

Saffron's story only began with Kronos, but as Styx rises from her deadly river, the story is far from complete. More death, betrayal, and heartbreak follows in the third installment of the Ichor series. The worst war comes in the form of a new prophecy, a plethora of traitors, and a hateful goddess who inches towards an eternal crown.

Welcome to Delphi.

THAT CLIFFHANGER? EXCUSE ME WHAT 😭😭

✔️ Read if you like Percy Jackson (darker version)
✔️ Greek mythology retelling
✔️ Multi Pov
✔️ Found family
✔️ Slow burn
✔️ Soulmates

The book starts off with an eighty eight year gap after the events of book 2. At first it unnerved me, but the author does give insight into it. The author wrote this book quite well, and it's my favourite in the series so far. The plot twists were everything 🤌

The pacing is on the slower side but it's not boring at all. There's always something happening which kept me interested. Saffron and Hart easily carried the book. Lamb was quite forgettable. I enjoyed seeing a broken, more emotional side to Saffron than the last two books where she was not so. Hart is for sure an interesting character, I see a lot of potential for her. The moments of prophecy were chef's kiss.

The relationships was another thing I liked. They were clearly not perfect but the sheer rawness of them made them enjoyable. Hermes and Saffron are a complex duo, surely there lays no happiness for them. Hermes actions make sense from his pov. That one scene between the two was so powerful, it was perfect. Apollo and Hart are so cute together. The instant click between them was fun to read, they have such intense chemistry. But makes me wonder with Saffron present there, it clearly complicates things?

To the author - I need Ares and Saffron to happen. THE SLOW BURN IS KILLING ME 😭😩😩😩 AHH it's so good 😭😭

I surely missed Epiales in this 🥺🥺

The ending has me in a state of shock. I want the next book like right now 😭😭 The only thing that lacked was more action and fight sequences. I would have loved it if there was more of that, surely that will be the case in the next book.

⚠️TW- Grief; depression; PTSD; conversation about death of pregnant women and children; adultery; gore and self harm ideations)⚠️

~•~•~

I completely forgot this came out few weeks ago, so excited to see how things turn out for the characters.

Well that ended on a cliffhanger building up to a really intense war between the gods. Not sure what I’m feeling right now. Onto book 4 since I need to know what happens! (Sorry not a really great review)

first of all I want to say thank you so much to Trish for allowing me the opportunity to read this arc for Delphi. This is the 3rd book of Trish’s I’ve read and it won’t be the last. I’m absolutely obsessed with her writing and the worlds she creates. She is such a phenomenal author.

Delphi was incredible just like I knew it would be. There was always something happening (not one dull moment) and the relationships between all the characters were perfectly written. So many things happened that completely shocked me and just had me saying ‘god, Trish is brilliant’ haha

I highly recommend reading EVERYTHING Trish writes and becoming just as addicted as I am. The second you pick up any of her books you won’t be able to stop.

I can’t wait to read more. Thank you to Trish for creating these amazing stories and sharing them with the world.

Umm excuse me...How dare you get me going throughout this entire book and just leave me like that. I need book 4 as of yesterday....please!

Delphi picks up right where Horkos left off. Saffron is now a goddess, and she built a life with Hermes at her side. She slowly watched her friends get old and pass on, and now proudly raises Hattie's granddaughter Jamila. Everything was going smoothly until it wasn't anymore. It's been 88 years since she became a goddess and that means the prophecy is starting to happen. And on the 88th day of the year, Styx will rise and a war will begin. If only they can stop it.

Instead of being honest with Saffron, Hermes, Hades, Persephone and more all lie to her constantly about the prophecy and why she isn't allowed in the other world. And to make it worse Hermes lies about why he's always in the Underworld instead of by her side. This one really hurt the most. I was always rooting for Hermes, but he's just not Saffron's great love, her soulmate.

But Apollo does find his soulmate and she's perfect for him. Hart is like the female version of Apollo and she's an oracle!!! I was so happy for Apollo because he deserves happiness and love. If only Saffron can find her love now. After the stunt Hermes pulled, I am now going back to Ares! The sparks they feel when they are near each other have to be a sign! They are meant for each other.

Thank you, Trish D.W. for an ARC of Delphi. Even though that ending had me mad & happy at the same time, I'm still not over it. Like he's coming back!?!?! Can he change and be good again? He was only helping his nephew find love, that shouldn't be a crime. But all in all, if you Mythology, drama, love and adventure then you MUST check out this series. I have been a huge fan of Mythology all my life and this has been one of the most captivating series that follows the stories I've ever read.

WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?!?!?

This entire series has ahold of me in the best possible way! It is action packed, and full of twists and turns most that you don't see coming.

This book was such a journey. Just when I thought it was going in one direction, it did a full 180° and left me in disarray.

I LOVE anything to do with greek mythology, and this series is chefs kiss. It's such a different twist on the gods and their existence. It's truly beautiful.

I need more! Especially after that ending! I can't wait to see where Trish takes this story next!

What the heck! This book was insane but in a good way. I loved this story with how it’s 88 years after the first and second book. There is recaps of everything that happened in the first and second book so you don’t forget what happened during those stories. We get a new character but it feels like she fits in and doesn’t change the series. (You do need to read the 1st & 2nd book. They’re very good anyways). Can we talk about the ending though?! Why leave us like that? Now I have to wait for the next one! Of course I’ll be reading it to figure out what happens next.
It’s multiple POVs, Greek mythology, and love triangles.

It's pretty repetitive - in itself but also from the first book to this one. Good thing, i'm a sucker for mythological retellings 😆

This installment was heavy. We got so much history and into the minds of so many gods and goddesses. The first two books need to be read first, as this one mentions previous events frequently. It's heartbreaking and more gruesome than previous books, so check triggers. There's a lot of character growth as well. I keep thinking of a quote from Harry Potter that I feel like fits this perfectly: "you're gonna suffer, but you'll be happy about it". (May not be word for word, but you get the point)

I am NOT OK!!

My heart has been shattered, put back together and then shattered all over again with this series! So many emotions, so many badass characters… wow! I NEED book 4 like NOW!! This is why I don’t start incomplete series because now my head is spinning and I have no way to relieve it until the next one is released!

I am in a complete state of shock after that ending and I just need more!! I need to know what happened next!

Tropes/Key Points:

🏛️Greek Gods Retelling
🏛️Prophecies
🏛️Found Family
🏛️Slow Burn
🏛️Fated Mates
🏛️Love Triangles

TW: Murder, Mutilation, Death of Loved Ones (Car Accident)

The third installment of the Ichor series holds up to its predecessors. I will be honest that I didn’t even realize there was going to be a third book. The first two end in a way that allows for it to continue, but also in a way that if it never did, you wouldn’t be dissatisfied. I was surprised to learn a few weeks ago that Delphi was close to its release date, and I didn’t hesitate to download it on KU as soon as it came out.

This book wasn’t as action packed as the first two, which is understandable considering that its building up to a war that is similar to the first book. It picks up eighty-eight years after the ending of Horkos, and a new prophecy is revealed. We are given a lot of backstories to what our characters have been up to for the last eight decades, and it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. We get to see how Saffron has changed with her immortality, getting glimpses of the bright-eyed girl as she slowly faded away with every death of a loved one.

Saffron is not the girl that you have come to know and love in this book, her life having been filled with heartbreak and settlement. She isn’t happy but doesn’t have a leg to stand on with changing her circumstances. She married Hermes and while it’s clear that they love each other, they aren’t meant to be together. It is revealed who Saffron’s HEA will be through not-so-subtle hints about who her third love is. I am eager for book four and seeing if they finally get together, because our FMC deserves some love for once! We get to watch as she handles horrors and mishaps, even while she is caught between a rock and a hard place in her life.

I think that the pacing overall through the story was handled very nicely and right around 70% of the book, things start to ramp up with all the pieces falling into place. While we know the bad guys in this story the entire time, the truth finally gets revealed to our characters about who the traitors are, with our heroes getting betrayed and Saffron making a hard decision. Prior to 70%, the plot is mostly setting everything up, even as we are introduced to a brand-new character, Hart, and I am obsessed with her. I cannot wait to see more of her in the next story, as well as a bit of the romance that has panned out for her.

Considering that it is eighty-eight years after the end of book two, the world has changed drastically. We are in a less dystopia setting and are in more of a modern world. Cars and phones are commonplace, as well as high rise buildings and cities. We are shown that even after a dystopia world, poverty still exists. The humans have formed their own “government” with police, detectives and firefighters to handle the day-to-day disasters. Of course, the Gods are still in control and we get small snippets of how they handle the larger issues that the humans cannot, keeping them firmly in the public eye for worship and prayers.

I will say that I wasn’t really in the mood to read this book and I feel like it affected how I received it. I am a mood reader, and I probably should have held off on reading this but I felt like if I did, I might not have ever made my way back to it. Please understand that this is not a comment or reflection on the series or author, it is a comment on myself and my state of mind. Despite this, I did try to look at it as objectively as possible, ignoring the fact that I wasn’t in the mood for it and focusing on the story, plot and characters to give my rating.

Overall, I truly did enjoy it and I’m excited for the series to continue. It was a great continuation and I loved seeing the author mature in her writing. She is going to go on to do amazing things!

What an ending.

This series is such a good series. I was never into Greek mythology growing up. But Trish has down an excellent job at keeping this interesting for me!

This book was a total whirlwind. I’m so upset at where it stopped because I just want more. I mean that happens when the series isn’t fully done. I should know this by now.

I cannot wait to see what happens to Saffron. Who she ends up with, because if you read this, woosh it just got interesting. Multiple details were revealed for her.

Meeting Hart and hearing her story was a perfect match. I wasn’t sure how she plays into the storyline but boy she is a huge part.

Now back to the waiting game and waiting on the next part of the story!

It is so fitting that this was my 88th book of the year- those who get it, get it.

I absolutely loved this book. I have loved this entire series and I don't know how Trish D.W. does it, but somehow she makes every book better than the last- something I never think is possible. This one ripped my heart out so much more than I expected. I really thought that I knew what I was getting into, but nope. Have your tissues ready- 100%. I also love how Trish D.W. is so talented to make us love one character and want something one moment and then when things change in the plot and you're sad for a second, but then you move on and love another new character and want the best things for them.

I literally cannot wait for the next book.

Honestly these books just keep getting better & better! I CANNOT WAIT for the 4th book to come out! I love Saffron so much, & feel so bad for her & all she’s lost, & the fact that everyone keeps treating her like she’s not the most powerful goddess alive! Hermes can kiss my whole butt lol. Ares needs to ✨literally✨ man up so my girl can have her HEA. & HART?! I NEED more of her & Apollo expeditiously! Also, I hope Hecate turns into a literal frog. Trish, you’re amazing!

My whole freaking heart is shattered and I’m not okay. At all. Everything I thought was a lie and the cliffhanger this book left me on has me anxious.

Trish D. W. is a queen for her Ichor series. Each has been better than the last and I cannot wait for 2024 so I can devour the last two in the series.

Incredible!

Every book is more compelling than the last. My heart swells and breaks with every turn, and I turn the pages with rapt attention.

The characters and the development that they have had being revealed in time is so good.

There seems to be a slow burn type of relationship between some of the characters but also the erratic consuming love from others. I’m rooting for one couple one minute and condemning them for another the next!

The plot of this story is gripping and has me coming back for more every day. I don’t know what’s going to happen, as I can only guess, but I’m so ready for the last two books and I know they’ll be better than the first three!

The author told us she was going to make us all emotional with this book. She delivered. I absolutely flew through this book, in the best way. I do highly recommend reading the first two books in this series so that you can enjoy this masterpiece to its fullest.

The book starts out 88 years after book two ends. We are quickly brought up to speed regarding the changes Saffron has made and how she has changed throughout her reign.

Then the action begins and does not let up. It is hard to describe how amazing this book was without giving anything away, but think turning tides and prophecies. Be prepared for an ending that you will not expect and to instantly search the internet for the next book's release date (spoiler alert - it's not listed yet).

This book was ok. I found the story a bit all over the place. I think it would have been nice to see more of the breakdown in Hermes and Saffrons marriage. It would have been good to see the schemes that the Stynx put into place for Saffron to feel so isolated and alone. It just seemed like gaps were missing in the book which may be building up to book four.
It was a good read and I like Lamb she is awesome. It’s sad to see Saffrons character emotionally go through what she is and knowing book four will only be worse for her.
I found the book ok and I just feel it didn’t leave a lasting impression on me.
I like to re read books I have really enjoyed and I think about amazing books all the time and this just didn’t have that for me.

I really enjoyed the first two booked in this series, but this one just missed the mark for me. I think one of my least favourite writing tropes is when a characters loved ones lie to them to protect them, and I especially didn't like it here. Saffron is one of, if not the most powerful God there is, and her husband and her parents lied to her and essentially isolated her 'to keep her safe'. I get that this was needed because of the way the story was written ans unfurled, but it still really frustrated me. I also really felt for Saffron, all the joy that's been zapped from her life. But I am looking forward to how the story continues, to see all the different players in the prophesy coming together and I'm really looking forward to Saffron and Ares FINALLY having a shot!

I don't even know how to feel about this book. I think this one is my favorite so far, I've got all the emotions. Well, except maybe happiness, not real happy except for Apollo and Hart. But other than that, there's anger and sadness and anxiety and fear, and just damn! I'm so pissed at the Underworld fam + Hermes, pooooooor way to handle things. So sad about Hermes' and Saffron's relationship, that physically hurt to read. Way to go Argus! Really hope Saffon gets with Ares! Speaking of, poor Ares! Oh and a big fuck you to Nemesis, Hecate, and Styx. I cannot wait until they get theirs. Well Nemesis already did, ha!

This is an emotional and dark read. You're sucked right into Saffrons heartache and depression. Mad at every character who doesn't see she's suffering or is complaicat in helping her feel better.

Hart is relatable. Wanting adventure but when the adventure starts missing the safety of her home and what she knows and I get that.

this is a very interesting and unique Greek retelling and I love it.

I couldn't wait for this book to release as I loved the first two books in the series. I did like this one but I did have a little trouble sticking with this one. I really did like how this book was more in depth into many of the pasts of the gods and goddesses but it was a bit long for me at times. I am definitely looking forward to the next book and can't wait to see where it takes us.

I was Bored

Honestly it might have been good but the repetition in the beginning killed my soul. It was taking everything in me to read a few chapters and then the pov switching was annoying.

So anyways I just skipped to the end and low and behold I didn’t actually miss anything.

This book was a trip! Saffron is not the happy goddess she once was, and Apollo finally finds his soulmate. But what is the cost for all this? The traitor was not who I thought it was, but I can’t stand them!!! They have given me the ick for a while, but I didn’t listen! I can’t wait until February when the next book in this series is released!

I am completely enraptured by this world and these characters. Book 3 in the series is a slow build again but a quicker read than book 2 and provides the reader with much need information to get us ready for the battle to come. There is a lot of sadness, but still hope as the MFC continues to shine.

The book was slow to start off, a little harder to get into since it takes place multiple years after the second book. After the first few chapters it really starts picking up and getting better. Such a cliffhanger in the end though!!
