After accidentally flashing the audience with her knickers, Em Brown decided that writing was a safer activity. She enjoys writing romance, particularly erotic historicals. For more about her works, visit www.EroticHistoricals.com.
Advisory: This erotic historical romance contains light BDSM elements, bondage, and submission. If you like your heat “wickedly hot” with bad boy rakes and fearless women, then dare to enter the Cavern of Pleasures…
Believe the warning. This audio book is hot and spicy. Know that there are all the things mentioned above with kidnapping thrown in for good measure. It’s well-written and well organized. It doesn’t require any great deal of suspension of belief, for it seems believable in most ways. Unlike many books in this genre, it has more than just erotic situations; it has a real story complete with realistic subplots such as a son disregarding his father’s wishes in choosing a bride and the owner of an estate trying to figure out how to support it..
The one negative I can find with this book is the narrator. The book is about the upper class, the aristocracy. It seems to me that they should sound like it, with refined accents and delivery. Unfortunately, the narrator doesn’t appear capable of delivering that kind of tone; often, the explanatory portions of the narration sounded like you’d hear on the wharfs of Liverpool or a neighboring city. While he has a lovely, mellow voice, he mispronounces so many words, even taking into account the difference in US and UK pronunciations. The only excuse I can think of for this is that he just didn’t bother to do his homework. Why bother for this type of book, right? He also sounds bored with what he’s performing, not intensifying his delivery when the action and dialog required it be stepped up. While I enjoyed the book, I felt that the narration had a negative effect on my enjoyment, and thus have given it a lower rating than I would have if I’d read the words on a page.
I enjoy Em Brown’s books and love audio books, but in this case, I think a print or ebook version might have been preferred.
I received this audio book for free from the author. While I appreciate the generosity and enjoyed the story, the generosity in no way influenced this review. All opinions expressed in this review are my honest and freely offered opinions of this audio book.
Binding the Baroness is an intense and emotional story. Lady Abigail Debarlow wants revenge for her mother’s death. Montague Edwards needs money to save his estate. To get the money he is hired by the Earl of Frotham (Abigail’s target) thwart Lady Abigail’s plan for revenge. Can he do it?
This is a red-hot read. Montague and Abigail are each on a mission and determined to complete it. The villains are greedy, arrogant, and despicable. The pleasure and emotion are rough and raw. The story is interesting, full of drama, secrets, kidnapping, and lots of surprises (pleasant and otherwise). It also features what must be the luckiest valet in England. Even though there was not very much distinction among the character voices, overall the narration was good. If you like your romance HOT, you will like this one.
I received a free copy of the audio version of this book. My review is voluntary.
This is an interesting story of revenge, lust and love. Both Abigail and Montague are hiding secrets and telling lies. When the two meet there is an attraction right away but each one is on a mission of their own. As the two spend time together feelings grow, and they must decide if they are going to tell the truth and follow their hearts or continue on a destructive path that will only lead to heartache. Their story moves at a good pace and is not only a sexy read but also has a nice story to it. Abigail and Montague make a good pair and the emotions that they feel shine through in this story. Not only did I enjoy the main couple, but the supporting characters made a themselves known. Narrator Dan Lee does a good job of keeping the story flowing while engaging the listener. I received an audio version of this book for an honest review.
What at first seems like a simple contract to "earn" some much needed money to save his estate, quickly has Montague Edwards more involved than he could have imagined. To be successful he must not only seduce Baroness Debarlow, but separate her from Viscount Tremayne. And he has no idea why she is so intent on the viscount. I liked how he organized his "attack", engaging the help of his valet to track the baroness whereabouts. I found both the H and h quite solid and likeable. Both stand a bit on the outskirts of society. There is a lot more to this story than the spicy sexual encounters. I received a free advance copy of this book and voluntarily chose to read and review it.
This short read is packed with kidnapping, intrigue, secrets, lies and plenty of chemistry. And, there was so much steam, it nearly fogged up my glasses! The story line was interesting, the characters were compelling and the descriptive elements drew you right into the scenes with the characters. Em never disappoints!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this story in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
I have been a fan of Em Brown for quite some time, however, after finishing this book I keep coming back to a point that I can not seem to move on from. Consent. There was a plot point where Abbey is forcibly taken against her will, and she did not initially consent to this, it was a situation that she could not get herself out of. No safe words, no get out. That left an unpleasant taste but this aside it was Em's usual fun romp, although this scenario did sadly miss the 5 stars from me

Montague Edwards is trying to save his family home. He agrees to seduce the Baroness Debarlow away from her current interest so the young man will wed the one his father had chosen. Abigail, however, is out to seduce and wed the despicable young man in revenge for wrongs done to those closest to her by him and his father. It's to be a battle of seduction that doesn't seem to have any happy endings in sight. Great read with wonderful characters.
I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The narrator made you feel as though your were right there with the characters. I was always on the edge of my seat listening to this audiobook. I few times, I wished for a female voice to distinguish the characters but all in all it was a great listen. Montague and Baroness Debarlow are intriguing characters. Their constant push and pull makes for an interesting story. You almost don't expect what happens next.
Binding the Baroness (Cavern of Pleasures #3), my second read from author Em Brown; I have several of her books but had never managed to read one before I read A Soldier’s Seduction and now this one. Well developed & well-written. I was given an Author’s Direct copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Dan Lee’s narration adds to this 5 ½ hour audiobook's enjoyment. I’ll be reading more by this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Em Brown knows how to write delicious and wicked tales. And this is one is no exception. The Baroness, Lady Debarlow sets outs to bind another man in a plan of exacting revenge. But instead she finds her heart bound to Montague Edwards. Or is it vice- versa? Who is really bound to whom? I truly enjoyed this book!
Yes this is a hot read but it is so much more. Montague and Abigail have their own reasons for their connection with the Earl of Frotham but this inevitably brings them together. It has a very surprising ending. This was an enjoyable read in more ways than one. I received an arc and have voluntarily reviewed it. This is my honest review.
This third book is somewhat different. The gentleman is looking to raise money to keep his home. To do so he has to stop a wedding! The only problem is the way to do so. Once he sees the Lady in question he wants her for himself but as they get to know each other, the tables are turned. This is another Hot and sensuous book that will keep you warm.
In order to save his estate Montague Edwards accepts the Earl of Frotham's proposition. Abigail Debarlow has got her own agenda when Frotham is concerned and plans to destroy his family. However Montague muddies the water somewhat and things start to take on a life of their own beginning in the Cavern of Pleasures.
Who is binding who? I have now read all three stories in this series and I have enjoyed all of them. The characters are sympathetic (I know, in this story? Yes.). Montague and Abigail are great characters in a fun and wicked story.
Binding the Baroness (ARC) by Em Brown: **** A hot love story Some BDSM, kidnappings, secrets, and unexpected love - all with a HEA. I enjoyed it! Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.
Wonderful book that brings you into Regency England. You can sympathize with both Montague and Abbey. Revenge may be a dish best served cold but love can always trump revenge when needed. It can be sweet at times but also really steamy as well. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
What a punch this story will have on you. We have kidnapping, intrigue, secrets, lies and plenty of chemistry with so much steam it will knock the wrinkles out of your clothes. This was a good read with its Victorian feel.
***I was given an audiobook copy for an honest review***
For me this book was okay. It seemed a bit rushed to me. Some of the phrases used during the sex scenes were very hard to listen too. They were very hard for me to listen to. The ending was very good.
Yeah this was fell flat for me. If you like the idea of being taken or kidnapped but still safe enough to be turned on, more power to you. It just didn’t go where I thought it should and honestly what was that? Idk. Not my jam.

I had a bit of a hard time reading this one. The kidnapping did me in. The stuff he did to her after that I know she liked and I know he knew she would which makes it slightly better but the kidnapping and his reasons for it made it real kidnapping. Not kidnapping because they fantasized it.
It was super intense, even more so than the first ones, however fell short to me in terms of plot ... I think there were honestly loopholes in motivation and so on. Also .
Half way through the book she gets two characters names wrong (Constance and the Marquess of Dunnesford) and then a few chapters later corrects them. Not terrible but annoying.
Very good book! I love the BDSM in a historical setting, and this book had a great story too. I would have liked more at the end it seemed a bit rushed.
The narrator was good and I would listen to more books narrated by him.
This was an interesting plot, but there were many parts of the story left to be tidied up at end. I thought the ending a bit abrupt and hurried, but glad to see the couple have their HEA.
