Edward de Bono was a Maltese physician, author, inventor, and consultant. He is best known as the originator of the term lateral thinking (structured creativity) and the leading proponent of the deliberate teaching of thinking in schools.
I found this book lying on the desk of a friend who is holding a position of Industrial Design Head. I was recommended by him to read this book. There are some amazing new ideas and thinking. Very new material, and something that can really make you change the way you think. It does cause you headache for change is difficult, but extremely necessary in this new age. I would like to read more books from this author who has earned big name not just as an author but as a great thinker.
There are some great ideas, But on the whole the book is boring and repeat the same words in the each chapter. The book is too long for so less ideas. A short booklet would be more convince for this edition.
A very good insight is presented in this book about thinking and how it evolves and and how you can transform your thinking ways. A good observation of historical approach of thinking has been presented and what are the flaws of in the historical way of thinking. Give some new ideas on how to approach thinking. At the end a good book to improve your thinking.
This book is about thinking and what people can do to think logically, not traditionally. "Today, language is by far the biggest barrier to human progress. Language is an encyclopaedia of ignorance that forces us to look at the world in an old-fashioned way"
This book gives a lot of insight into why the human race despite being so good at thinking and coming up with marvelous inventions has not progressed very much as a race. It also talks about how language is inadequate and at the individual level, we can learn to use some simple "thinking" techniques which can easily resolve conflict among people and also help us make quick decisions.
