Another book from the past that represents the interests I had in insects, specifically these scaled-wing critters. Part of the Eyewitness Explorers, this book is similar in vein to the Eyewitness series, but meant for a much younger target audience. Everything you need to know about butterflies & moths from the basics to the diverse locations is all explained in simple, yet detailed length. As with the series title, this book also goes onto tips on how to spot & observe butterflies & moths in their natural habitats.
Each section is also supplemented with high quality photos of individual species & nice artworks that borders between life-like to silly cartoons. It's presentation style effectively allows readers to gain full, easy knowledge on butterflies & moths while making reading fun and this book useful in helping build young scientists in the process.
I for one, am glad to see the efforts of both the publisher, author and illustrators contribute to making a fun, yet informative book that still applies well into adulthood as it did as a kid.
A delightful and in-depth treatment of these fascinating creatures. the writer covers the topic broadly, and uses such a rich vocabulary that every page contained a new word for me!
Excellent, thorough, great illustrations and photos, with hands-on activities; my son's outgrown it, though, so I'm donating it to his school's library.
