Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy step through an old wardrobe into the mysterious land of Narnia. There, they meet Aslan, the Great Lion, and together they set off to rescue Narnia from the evil White Witch, who has cast a spell over the land. But, as the children soon learn, Narnia is a magical place, and this will be no ordinary battle. Deborah Maze's rich, detailed paintings, inspired by the original novels, bring the creatures and land of Narnia to life in this fourth exciting title in the World of Narnia Picture Book series.
Deborah Maze is the illustrator of several picture books as well as a line of greeting cards. She is a lifelong reader of the Little House books and has fond memories of reading them to her children when they were young. She lives with her family in southern California.
A lovely conclusion to Deborah Maze's picture book adaptation of the Chronicles of Narnia. She captures the wonder of Aslan in a memorable way. I've said most of what I wanted to say in reviews of the other books in the series, but here's a summary: yay, pictures; mediocre text; one more yay for the pictures. Adapting a book for young readers into a book for younger readers is a strange order at best, but Maze makes the most of it by contributing a rich visual depiction of Narnia.
