I could not put this eBook down and I could hardly wait to get back to it when I did have to set it aside to do silly stuff like work, eat, sleep etc.
Loved the characters (especially Len, the geeky college student at the center of everything). She's a strong, resourceful young woman, yet capable of making boneheaded mistakes that made me laugh and think, "Yeah. I would've done the same thing." Her relationship with the aelven man she meets and helps doesn't deprive her of her independence or turn her into Princess Buttercup or a wimp; it rings true. Which means that the romance in the story worked for me better than much of what I've read recently.
I also loved the texture and back story of the fey world and the way Nagle slowly pulled off the veils and let you see what was going on. Nagle's handling of the supernatural and legendary elements (aelven and vampires) are not the usual. I always appreciate it when an author works out the magical races in new and self-consistent ways and Nagle's work here is strong. But she doesn't tell all and THAT left me in that rare and wonderful locale of being completely satisfied with a book from start to finish AND YET wanting more.
I have it on good authority that the author is working on a sequel as I type. I'm very happy to hear that, this is a fun and satisfying read and I found myself thinking about it pleasurably even after I put the book down.
Liked, and I would read the next book in the series. I'm conflicted about how many stars to give it because the story is engaging and fairly well written. The only errors seem to be some upload ebook issues, hardly noticeable. It's fantasy based in the real world (urban), which is a genre I particularly enjoy for pure escapism. It's about a college student drawn to a mysterious guy who piques the interest of part time librarian, Lenore. I'm not going to give away spoilers but I enjoyed the New Mexico background and the heroine's penchant for junk food. My only issues with the book are it seemed to only scratch the surface of many of the questions I had, and it ended somewhat abruptly.
The book starts at a slow pace introducing the main character Len, who is a college student working in the university library after classes. One day she helps the apparent foreigner Caeran with a book he is looking for. Almost instantly she is interested in him, which leads her to assist him and his cousins by getting them to a healer near a rural town, since one of them needs help and none of them drives a car. Caeran also shows an interest in Len, but the mystery surrounding him and his cousins prevent him from reaching out to her. The first 70 pages of the book don't give away much, but it is a smooth and well-worded read. Detailed explanations of the surroundings and getting to know Len compensate for the lack of action.
I really enjoyed reading this book. 4 stars, since the introduction was a bit long and the ending could have been a bit more elaborated.
Great story set in New Mexico. Well thought through back story makes this fantasy novel believable and accessible. I would have loved to be able to read it all in one sitting but no such luck. I had to put it down and work on other things.

I am so glad I got to read this one (thanks again to Pati). After reading the first couple of chapters I was completely sucked in and wanted to know the mystery to who/what the H (and latter his family) is. The story starts out quite romantic but then it more or less transforms into an adventure and you get see a whole new world. Of course any good adventure must have a villain and the one in this book was actually quite smart and persistent in getting what he wanted but in the end he of course fails .
The reason why 4 stars is that the h at times tried a bit too hard to get the H, otherwise a great story worth reading. :)
On the surface, Immortal resembles other teen romances -- girl meets unbelievably handsome and mysterious boy; throbbing hearts ensue. But Nagle's heroine is no hapless Bella, she's a college student with a job, a car, and a mind of her own. Nor is the gorgeous guy an angsty vampire, although he definitely is not one of your usual folk. The plot moves briskly from encounter to threat to road trip to battle, a fine way to spend a couple of winter nights. In the end, the story is as much about how relationships help us to determine the direction of our own lives as it is about hormones. That's what sets this YA novel apart.
Started out a bit slow, but enticed me and to keep reading once I had some dedicated reading time. I like the scenery of New Mexico in the book-familiar places, especially the library and SUB at UNM.
I was hoping to read a bit further into the series but now I have to wait a while. A full review will also have to wait. However, so far i find this series enchanting, well pictured setting, beautifully magnetic characters and an intriguing plot.
