About the author

The tarot has been a part of my personal and professional life for nearly twenty years. I first discovered the Tarot in college. Right from the start, the tarot intrigued me with its marvelous blending of mythology, psychology, art, history mystery, and magic.

My education in the tarot has been and continues to be broad and enlightening. I am grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to study under renowned tarot scholars Mary K. Greer and Rachel Pollack. I have also had the privilege to share the wonders of the tarot with all manner of wide-eyed, would-be tarot readers.

I enjoy giving a voice to tarot cards by writing the books that accompany decks. I have had the good fortune to write books and booklets for several decks, including A Guide to Mystic Faerie Tarot (Llewellyn, July 2007), The Gilded Tarot Companion (Llewellyn, September 2004), The Enchanted Oracle (Llewellyn, September 2008), The Mystic Dreamer Tarot (Llewellyn, September 2008), and Shadowscapes Tarot (Llewellyn, May 2010). Recently, I finished writing a new edition of Tarot for Beginners (Llewellyn, November 2010).

My articles on the tarot have appeared in several tarot publications and in Llewellyn's New Worlds of Mind and Spirit.

Over the years, I have been very active in the tarot community. I am a founding member of the Minnesota Area Tarot Symposium and have spoken at tarot conferences around the United States. In July of 2010, I had the pleasure of attending the Tarot Association of the British Isles (TABI) Annual Conference as keynote speaker.

In addition to teaching tarot classes and providing personal readings, I currently work as a consultant for tarot publishers Llewellyn Worldwide and Lo Scarabeo. I also contribute bi-weekly posts to Llewellyn's Tarot Pathways blog. I am very excited to be working on designing several forthcoming tarot decks as well as another book for tarot newbies on spread design.

This is another of the pretty variety of tarot decks highlighting beautiful faerie images. You can use it as a traditional deck as all traditional notations (3 of Wands) are labelled on each card. If you choose, you can review the materials which offer their own faerie-related origin story for each of the minor arcana and other faerie-related slants to the cards.

Could be difficult for beginners wanting to use it for traditional tarot readings as the imagery across the cards is similar without a distinct feel or mood to each visual and there is very little symbolism in the images (some wand cards do not even have wands on them - just noted in the title).

Regular size on decent cardstock.

Sin duda si te encantan las hadas tanto como las leyendas, aunque no quieras utilizar el mazo de Tarot es un libro que recomiendo. Sus historias y descripciones de cartas son preciosas, desearás que no acaben nunca. Y las ilustraciones, bueno, decir que son preciosas y que son mágicas es quedarse corto.

One of my dearly treasured decks that brings about a whisper of whimsy into the mundane times of life. Card stock is firm with a glossy finish.

I have always wanted to read tarot cards and one day I stumbled upon this deck complete with the book. I had tried and failed to read five previous decks and had almost given up hope. Well I’ve always had a bit of a Celtic, nature loving twist in me, so I decided to pick it up on a whim. It was the first deck that ever truly registered with me. This book puts all the suits cups, thorns, pentangles, and wands) into their own little fairytale. Every card in the suit from ace to ten went together to tell the particular story of what that suit meant that related directly to its symbolism. It made sense to me in a clear concise way that had me connected very strongly to this particular deck. It is probably the easiest tarot deck, and the best book that I have ever used, and now that I am a bit more grown up I still love and miss this deck, but I’ve moved on to be an experienced, and some clients have even said talented reader.
I recommend this as a perfect deck for all first timer readers, especially if you have a fairytale bent.

Beautiful artwork, just small enough to be easily shuffled but bigger than a playing card. Nice weight and vivid colour. Nice quality. I would not have suspected that five cards would be doubled and five were missing!! I went two months before I went through the deck to find it was defective. Waiting to hear back from website to see if they will replace the missing cards. Be sure to check your products thoroughly...

Here in Britain, this summer is set to be the hottest ever on record. In my mind, this equates to a barbeque every day, ice cold lemonade on English lawns, beautiful gardens in bloom, dancing on Midsummer’s Eve, and other such quaint, charming, and utterly fluffy pastimes. Now, when somebody says the word “fluffy”, it’s usually not intended in a positive way, but this time it truly is.
