As a teenager he was influenced by the mecha anime Armored Trooper Votoms and Mobile Suit Gundam, in particular the designs of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, as well as the works of manga artist Rumiko Takahashi. He began his career at age 17, with his debut manga, Space Oddity, in the Weekly Shonen Sunday. He is best known for the cyberpunk series Battle Angel Alita.

I read the fan-subtitled copy of this last year right after finishing volume 14. I couldn't wait since I knew it would be a long time for this one. And unfortunately, an even longer wait (a year) until volume 16 with the fallout with the publisher in Japan. But I love this series - it's my favorite manga of all time - and really hope it gets wrapped up pretty soon!

Nice action, and the art as always is great. Now if we could just have some plot to go with our action, that'd be fantastic.

Не успела я порадоваться хоть какому-то сюжетному развитию, как опять все дерутся. И к гадалке не ходи :D Немного сглаживает разочарование тот факт, что это финал, да и персонажи все знакомые. Некоторые успели даже приобрести индивидуальность, выкристаллизовавшуюся после многочисленных стычек и последующих попыток превзойти самого себя. Но с чит-кодами Кисиро здорово напортачил – только у одной пары соперников имеется хоть какое-то объяснение своей неуязвимости. Рядом с ними топчутся два бога карате, что сотни лет потратили на совершенствование своего мастерства (неубиваемые от слова совсем). Про боевого ангела даже говорить ничего не надо, это у нас теперь сверх-существо высшего калибра, способное противостоять даже господину Подбородку.
Больше всего меня раздражает, что я уже сотни страниц смотрю на каких-то модифицированных фриков с одним трейтом в наборе, от одного взгляда на которых хочется плакать. Когда сюжета нет, внимание неизбежно переключается на визуальную компоненту, и в этой серии весь фансервис начинается и заканчивается на хвосте Алиты. I get it. А теперь можно еще пару бисёненов, чтобы уж не так грустно было наблюдать за этой бессмысленной потасовкой длиной в 100500 томов?
Шучу, конечно. Эту серию уже ничего не спасет.

Karate vs. Angels. Lots of underestimation of power.

Finally after all those volumes, we finally get to it... the kickoff of the final fight of the Zott tournament!
And I say kickoff because, of course the fight isn't going to resolve itself in one single volume. As we have seen Yukito Kishiro do up until now, he stretches the plot as much as possible again. But the good thing is, even though some previous volumes felt a bit like filler, this one was a breeze to read because it was not only essential and the next rational step in the plot, but also - it was action packed and good!
We get the matchups of the finally 3 on 3, and we focus on a bit on each fight. Sechs and Zazie have their hands full, and actually seem to get a leg up at the end of the volume, while Alita easy beats her opponent, only for him to finally get a leg up. It was interesting to see the differences there, as each fight has it's own style and set of challenges. It was also really cool to see Alita fighting again, as she has taken a bit of a passive role as of late.
Overall, a good start to the final battle, hopefully vol 16 can keep up the pace!

Pretty good Sci fi manga series, really good awesome art and action scenes but the overall story wasn’t that great 😁✌️❤️❤️

3/5 stars for this volume and the series ~
Last Order pales in comparison to the original Battle Angel Alita (Gun Dream / Gunnm) series, which was so deep in its art, darkness, emotion, and hope in half as many volumes. This unnecessarily long series has very little coherent story even though it tries to invent an interplanetary community, and focuses way too much on endless fighting with bizarre creatures and none of the depth and character development that made the fights mean something in Gunnm. Reading both series is like watching an adult who fought so hard to discover him/herself reverting back into a violent, hormone-driven teenager. Don't bother, stick to Gunnm.
