(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)
A family camping trip turns sinister, and a murder turns out to be only the beginning of the danger
When Niels and his parents arrive at the beautiful forest campground in Lake Garda, Italy, they are looking forward to making friends and relaxing, and so much more. But they are not expecting that Niels will be witness to a murder. Will the little boy have to face the murderer, and his fears, during the investigation?
I have to say I was somewhat disappointed with this novel. There is nothing obviously wrong with it - it just never really reached any great heights.
The plot was a little bit predictable. As I was reading, I was waiting for the big "AHA!" moment but it never really came. There was a degree of predictability in this story and that, for a thriller, is never really a good thing.
The writing itself was good enough - a little simplistic, and the short chapters never really gave me the chance to get right into the story. However, the style was easy enough to read and the author should be commended for not trying to write this book in a way that was beyond her.
Overall, a decent enough book for most, but if you are a real thriller-enthusiast, this may not tick a lot of boxes for you.
