Lara Kensington is living a perfectly mundane life as a museum curator, when bad boy treasure hunter, Reece Jericho, leaps into her life. Literally. Obviously distressed, Reece tells Lara that one year in the future she will be murdered. The evidence he uses to back up his incredible story doesn’t convince Lara. She thinks he’s crazy. Especially after he claims to be her future fiancé. Lara would have remembered dating someone as delicious as Reece Jericho. Hot as Reece is, Lara has a difficult time believing anything the man says until the broken amulet he wears around his neck transports them into different bodies, during a different time, in a different place—an ancient place, a cold place, a place where Lara arrives naked, hysterical, and... Norse.
On the run through time, attempting to escape a man who is hell-bent on Lara’s lack-of a-future becoming a reality, the couple must leap from one time and place to another just to stay alive. In the first volume of this sexy and humorous new series, Lara and Reece share an existence with a ruthless Viking and his captive bride and then with a noble medieval knight and the feisty lady he is determined to win.
Combining her love for romantic fiction and rock ‘n roll, Olivia Cunning writes erotic romance centered around rock musicians. Raised on hard rock music from the cradle, she attended her first Styx concert at age six and fell instantly in love with live music. She's been known to travel over a thousand miles just to see a favorite band in concert. As a teen, she discovered her second love, romantic fiction -- first, voraciously reading steamy romance novels and then penning her own. Growing up as the daughter of a career soldier, she's lived all over the country and overseas. She recently moved to Galveston, Texas.
This book just about shocked me. I was expecting sex, sex and more sex (like OC's other books), but this one was very beautifully written with a dash of:
☑ Paranormal – time traveling into other people’s body at different time and places. ☑ Sexiness – Lara and Reece were at it every chance they got. ☑ Humor – Reece was one twisted stud. ☑ Action – they were getting chased and/or kicking butts.
Lara Kensington is a museum's curator. One day she meet a treasure hunter, Reece Jericho. He tell her, he come from the future to save his fiancee that had killed. Reece's fiance, for her surprised, is Lara herself. Lara think he's nut, even he's hot. But, when Reece make her traveled through time to avoid Reece's friend that want his magical amulet, want it or not, she must believe him. They traveled back to Viking time, and 3 days later to English medieval era. When they leap through the time, Reece want to make Lara love him again, and help people that become their vessel to find their happiness when they are leaping.
Olivia Cunning did it again!
Usually I never give a novella 5 stars (just once, and that for Heaven Can't Wait by Pamela Clare, another my favorite author)), but this one is not!
Holy moley naked Batman! I never know Olivia Cunning can write a story like this!! Sooo.. different from her Sinners on Tours series that full of sex scenes, and dirty act *groan*. You will surprised this novella more clean than Sinners series, just at steamy level, not too erotic. But I can discover her writing style at here. Still sexy, humorous, with a strong heroine and too-die-for, drop-dead-gorgeous, I-want-to-lick-him-from-head-to-toe hero.
Reece Jericho, *sigh!!* Olivia once tell at her blog, Reece like Brian Sinclair + Trey Mills but minus music (from her Sinners series) and I'm absolutely agreed!!. He make me gooey and hope to have a lover like him. Alpha, yet humorous and so loving. What with this Reece name? Guy with name "Reece" seems perfect, my kind of hero!
Lara herself is strong and determined. Even she doesn't believe Reece at the first time when he said she is his fiancee, later her feeling to him is growing. The historical setting at this novella are well written. We know about Viking history, about their habit to pillage and raping. And then at English medieval era, with their nobility and culture. My favorite is when they leap to English medieval. Think "A Knight's Tale" movie here ;-).
This novella have a cliffhanger, with Lara and Reece leap to Turkey harem, and I can't wait to know what happen next to them and what they do to the couple that become their vessel to find their own happiness!
My favorite part (contain a little bit spoiler here) :
“I wonder how sunburned my ass will be after I make love to you right here in the sand for hours and hours,” Reece murmured. “I’m not sure that’s possible, sweetheart,” she murmured, snuggling against his shoulder. “Why not? I thought you said you loved me.” “I do, Reece. That’s not the problem.” “Then what? This guy is totally head over heels in love with this chick. Holding her is so thrilling to him, I think he’s about to faint. He and I are both ready for some hot monkey sex in the sand.” “Are you sure?” She looked up at him, trying hard to stifle a laugh. “Seems an unlikely activity for a eunuch.”
Picked this book up because I loved Ms. Cunning's The Sinner's series so much (BTW, everyone must read Backstage Pass!!
Loving on Borrowed Time is a hawt fun read. Reese Jericho leaps back in time to save the love of his life, Lara, from being murdered. When traveling in time, they aren't traveling as themselves, but rather they leap into other couples (think the old TV series Quantam Leap). Reese & Lara have some LOL adventures going from Vikings to Knights to Arabians.
If you are looking for a fun summer read, I recommend this one!
My fav scenes/quotes:
"While I was about to be raped by Lord Asshat, you were searching through saddle bags?" Lara to Reese
"Well, right now my dick is so hard, I think it's dented Reginald's armor." Reese to Lara
"Does Reg Love her?" "He'd kill for her. He's jealous of whoever claimed her maidenhead--did I really just call it that?--em, popped her cherry." Reese to Lara
"Please tell me she's getting over her fear of trouser snakes." Reese to Lara
He was an expert at this. She wouldn't be surprised if he had a doctorate degree in advanced nipple stimulation from the University of Oh My, Yes, That's It.
"He and I are both ready for some hot monkey sex in the sand." "Are you sure? Seems unlikely activity for a eunuch."

I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I wish it would have been longer and that really is the only complaint I can give this book. I must have to add that this book really does not end and continues on with the next book Twice Upon A Time. I have no idea when that book will be released but when it is, I'll be buying.
I have read this author's other series, Sinners, and loved it. I was expecting somewhat of the same sort of story, but this book was really a surprise for me. So many possibilities for the main characters in the future. I am really looking forward to the next installment of the Reece/Lara love story.
I love the idea of the time travel, the integrating in other's lives. The story progresses fast, but it fits and works out well. The times they traveled to were fun to read about, very spot on with the imagery. I would say 4 out of 5 stars for this book.

I almost didn't buy this because there were a ton of typos in the blurb and sample, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I love quirky time travels, and I love Olivia Cunning's fun, sexy writing style. This delivered on both ends - it's a Quantum Leap style romance. The hero and heroine leap through time repeatedly, landing in the bodies of other lovers that are in stressful situations, all the while on the run from someone who is out to murder Lara. It was fun, sexy, and if you're not a stickler for historical accuracy, enjoyable.
Totally on board for the next one. Apparently this is a serial?
What a great book to start off the series! Can't wait to learn more about Reece and Lara in the books to come. Reece is hilarious and just makes you swoon over his affection for Lara. She's one lucky girl *sign*. The concept is different, the sex scenes are hot and the twist at the end of the book is a nice surprise. It's a short read but worth it.
I loved Olivia Cunning's Sinners on tour series, so decided to try this while waiting for the next in that series. This book was ok -- but I have no interest in reading the next one. Nothing wrong with it, the characters just didn't keep my attention.
Truth be told, this is my very first read by Ms. Cunning and I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of reactions that include “OMG, ARE YOU SERIOUS!?” and many smacks on the ass for not getting into the whole Sinners thing, but I’m getting there!
With LOVING ON BORROWED TIME, I got a feel of the Olivia Cunning writing style and I did enjoy most of it. However, I’m sure her Sinners books are quite different and up the ante on the sex part. Rest assured that I’ll be reading those soon. Now back to this book...Lara Kensington is a museum curator and when a mysterious man approaches her in the museum, informing her of her impeding death, Lara is a little more than shocked. It turns out that this mystery man is no other than Reece Jericho, a treasure hunter that she has tried to contact for awhile with no avail....until he finds her.
But he brings bad news, informing her that if she doesn’t go with him, Carl will find her and that will be the end of Lara. Reece explains that she is his wife and that he wants to save her from her death before he loses her again. And with his magical amulet, he can do that as they travel back in time.
While I did enjoy the time-travel aspect of this book, I thought the time spent as a Viking and as an English knights weren’t as long as I would have liked. I appreciated the historical mentions, but I didn’t feel the change in scenery. I think part of it had to do with the fact this is a novella and short books means less descriptions. I only wished there was more.
There was good chemistry between Lara and Reece, but sometimes their modern idle banter took away from the historical aspect of it. I know they are still Reece and Lara “inside” but as Arabians, I want them to play Arabians!
I did feel that it was really rushed in the beginning and there was an abrupt ending as well. I want to read more and hopefully, get the answers I want. Will Carl find them?
I recently went on a short story kick where I wanted to get in, swoon hard and be left feeling dazzled. I'd read a little of Olivia's Backstage Pass *insert YUM here* so when I saw this as a recommended read for the book club I'm part of, I had to read it! My. Goodness. This. Was. So. Good.
I was really interested in reading a story that involved time travel and was curious to see how Olivia would squeeze in a story that would suck me in, considering the length she had to play with. I was drawn in straight from the beginning and instantly wanted to know more about Reece. How heartbreaking to come back for the woman you love, the woman that loved you just as desperately but she doesn't know who you are... yet. There was a good dose of danger involved as he rushed in to save Lara, the only way being jumping through time. This is where I think the story became amazing.
Each jump, they became people from the past and with the chemistry that they felt for each other, they helped make things right. This made for some amazing sexual tension and even greater swoon moments. I enjoyed the intensity of it, the way my heart was engaged and I wanted everything to be perfect for Reece and Lara because dang it, they deserved it. I love a romance that transcends time, one where it doesn't matter where Fate throws you it's just as passionate, just as real and just as scorching. Olivia really delivered me a story that made me squee and sigh at the same time.
What's a Bookish Snob review if I didn't gush a little of the sexy hero. I loved the danger that seemed to wrap itself around Reece. I could imagine his cocky grin and swagger, the way he looked like he was hungry at Lara and his need to protect her at all cost. He was just so masculine and.... gosh I don't even now a word other than delicious!
Wonderful thing is we can expect more from Reece and Lara in the future! This is a great story to snuggle under a blanket (or loved one) and read, full of swoon, danger and sexy moments. Perfect for romance lovers. Happy reading!
Wow, what a difference between this book and the Sinners' books!!
This is a quick read, but if you like a little bit of time travel and a whole lot of a hot guy trying to convince the love of his life to fall back in love with him, than this is for you!
To save the woman he loves, Reece travels through time to find Laura Kensington. When he finds her, he uses an ancient Egyptian amulet to travel through time, avoiding the menacing Carl, assuming the identities of other people in whatever time period they end up.
Reece Jericho, treasure hunter, has spent the past 8 months finding the one treasure he can't live without....Lara Kensington. Reece, for having a bad boy image (or so Lara says) wears his heart on his sleeve. You never doubt, through the entire story, just how much he loves Lara or what lengths he would go through to make sure they are never separated again.
Lara doesn't know what to make of Reece when she finds him in her museum (of which she's the curator) after hours, but she finds him incredibly attractive. She doesn't take kindly to Reece telling her what to do, but according to him, she never has. As much as she doesn't like it, she finds herself drawn to Reece. What she fights with are her rapidly changing feelings for him, wondering if these are the feelings of the person she is currently possessing or truly what she feels for Reese.
In the end, Reece fights for his woman (potentially to the death) and that forces Lara to acknowledge her true feelings for Reece. As the book ends, they are leaping to another time/place and their next adventure. Will Carl find them? What secrets does Reece have in his past? Those are all questions that will lead us to the next book.
Reece is totally swoon-worthy, especially the way he cares for and loves Lara, how he wants to give her time to adjust to not only their circumstance but his feelings for him (and vise versa), how he enjoys the adventure of getting her to fall for him again, his openness and honesty, *sigh.* Lara is feisty and cautious, and I didn't feel like her feelings for Reece were rushed. The action starts right away and is pretty fast-paced, but that is fitting with the nature of their travels. I can't wait to hear more about Reece's past and also what happened with Carl in the past. I enjoyed the lightness of certain parts (i.e. when Lara asks if she can sit down to eat yet after having to get up how many times during her first Viking meal - so relatable!), the chemistry of Reece and Lara was scorching no matter who they leaped into, and I really want Reece and Lara to get their present-day HEA, but not before they have many more adventures together in the past.

I bought this book, like most others because I love the Sinners on Tour series. This was very different, but still a great read. I love paranormal books, so that fantasy aspect made me really like this book. It was short, a novella, not a novel, and I was sad to see it end.
I like the idea of them continuing to travel and help other couples find love. I enjoyed the relationship between Lara & Reece, they were fun, and the banter was realistic. I look forward to reading more in this series. The one thing that didn't thrill me is the way the book ends. I like my books, even in a series, to have an end. I am not a fan of cliffhanger endings, though in this series, that would be difficult.
The intimate sections of the book were not as hot as the Sinners books, but still well written, and really good :p
This was a really different book. Completely not what I was expecting with the jumping to different times and the whole situation there (I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll leave it at that and you'll have to read it to know what I'm talking about). I am dying to know more about the beginning of Lara and Reece's relationship (the first time around...haha). I almost hope that there will be a prequel type book to show that!
One thing I can say for sure is that I LOVED Reece. Ohmylord, he is sexy, adventurous, and also not afraid to show that he loves Lara. Great combination! I will definitely be checking out the next book to see more of Reece and Lara!
Olivia Cunning is so good with steam, erotic novels and this one is fun. Lacking the intensity of the Sinners series, Reece and Lara are two lovers skipping through time evading the bad guy (Carl). They are temporarily in other people's bodies and try to aid in the romantic direction of their hosts. The book is told as a series of stories so there are multiple plots and characters.
It's fun, easy, light reading. After falling in love with the Sinners, I just couldn't get to that point where I obsessed about Reece and Lara. So, go into it for fun and remember there is more than one....
I loved this. Sexy, funny, and adventure all rolled up into one great story. A little silly at times but a great, fast read and an adorable couple/hero. Can't wait to see where the next book "takes" them :)
This is definitely different than the Sinners on Tour books, but a really good read! I loved the time travel aspect and how the romance develops between the main characters. I am looking forward to more books in the Lover's Leap series!
this was cute. it was like the Quantum Leap of romance. I loved Reece and thought he was just the perfect hero. Lara got on my nerves sometimes, but she redeemed herself in the end. I'm interested in seeing what's going to happen next in this series.
I would never have guessed the Olivia Cunning wrote this book - doesn't read like her style. Then again, I've ever only read her Sinners books. But if I didn't know better, I'd say this series was written a few years ago, as one of her first books. Not that it's bad... but it's not as tight or as good as her Sinners books. Just doesn't seem like her style.
But the characters are intriguing - sort of a Quantum Leap meets Indiana Jones or something. The main characters are Lara, a museum curator who longs to be discovering artifacts rather than just cataloging and displaying them, and Reece, a bad boy archeologist, who claims he's from the future - a future where he and Lara are engaged and lovers. Reece mumbles something about time travel, throws his arms around Lara, mumbles some ancient words, and voila! They're off ... to Viking times.
See, Reece claims that one year in the future, Lara was killed, and he (Reece) has come to prevent that from happening. His former partner, Carl, wants to stop Reece and leave Lara as dead. Did Carl have something to do with her death? Lara doesn't know, but Reece seems to know a lot about her. When Carl comes rushing in before Reece and Lara time travel, Carl seems to look like the janitor one moment, and then like someone else (Carl) the next. What's going on? Reece tells her that Carl has the other half of the amulet, and when the two amulets get close by, they hum and vibrate. So before Carl can catch them, Reece mutters the ancient spell to start the time traveling. Reece tells her that Carl wants to prevent Reece from saving Lara.
When they "land" from their time traveling, they seem to "occupy" bodies of others. In the Viking incarnation, Reece is Eirik, the head Viking who lead his men to pillage a village and take the women. Lara seems to be the women that Eirik was taking - Helga. Whenever anyone else is around, Reece and Lara can only utter names and words that those around them understand, in their native language or Norse. But both Reece and Lara can see each other and hold their own conversations in private. It seems that whenever emotion is really high, the host can fight for control and gain it. But in the meantime, Lara and Reece have control - except that their hosts experience what they do, but not necessarily everything they say or think privately. Quite the set up!
Reece is adamant that they not change history. And, per Quantum Leap, the two have to figure out what they're supposed to do - not to move on, but to help the couple along and prevent any major changes in history. Which seems to be about helping the couple learn about each others' emotions and have good sex. Go figure.
There's a lot that we don't know, but only get hints of. And the book ends on a cliff-hanger - the 3rd leap. (The 2nd leap is into middle England and knights, maidens, and tourments.)
It's a clever idea, but not all that well-written. More like a few hot scenes that have a story written around them to justify putting this together as a book.
But it's intriguing... enough to make you want to find out what happens next. So, despite these books not sounding or feeling at all like the Olivia Cunning books that I know, and despite not being all that well-written or well-rounded, I find myself reading the next one in t the series.
So I find myself reading something completely unlike anything I've ever read before. I knew this story was a time travel story.
Reece goes back in time to save his fiance, Lara, after she was murdered in "the future". He can't live without her, and had found an artifact that allows him to go back in time, or leap. However his friend Carl has the other half of the amulet, and he doesn't want Reece to change the future, it's too dangerous to mess with. So he's coming after him to prevent him from changing the future.
I'm a bit confused with this one. I have to say I thought throughout the whole book that the conflict between Carl coming after Lara would be a more important role. But this book really doesn't even talk much about that or the fact that they are jumping through time.
He convinces Lara to come with him and they find themselves in a Viking world, having taken the place of a man and a woman in that time. From there the story plays out pretty much in that world. They take over their characters at that time, they live their lives, and at the same time Reece tries to get Lara, who really didn't even know who he was, to fall in love with him again.
They can stay in one reality for just a few days, then they have to jump again when Carl catches up to their reality (for some reason he has a bit of a delay when he jumps).
Another thing that is worth mentioning for fans of Olivia Cunnings work or anyone that is familiar with her Sinners series. This is NOT as erotic by any stretch of the imagination. Where Sinners tries to push the envelope with creative sex, this is much more vanilla.
So this book basically takes you on few different stories of Reece and Lara being other people, living their lives, and hopefully helping those couples fall in love, while she falls in love all over again with Reece. At the end of the day she can never go back to the future or she will be killed, so they have to keep leaping through the past so they can be together.
I was recently introduced to Olivia Cunning and find her writing wonderful. I read Rock Hard, the first in her series “Sinners on Tour” and was compelled to read more from this imaginative writer. I purchased the first in the series,Backstage Pass along with Loving on Borrowed Time. I can say that I am not disappointed in my purchases. Olivia comes through once again with this creative story.
Loving on Borrowed Time:Lovers’Leap (Volume 1),Lara is working at the library and in walks Reece from the future to save her. The only problem is that Lara is not sure what he is saving her from. Quickly,Reece tries to explain to her that the future Lara is going to die and he has to save her for himself as much as for herself. There is an amulet that allows them to travel between the present and the past. They only have about three days before Carl, the owner of the second piece of the amulet, comes to try to stop them. They are transported to the past and have to live in that time period without changing their or others futures. They have to stay true to the customs of the times even though it’s difficult for them to do because Lara has some personal conflicts with how women were treated in this era. Reece lets her know that she has to have minimal involvement with setting the future of the people because they are on a different course. They rediscover their love for each other through their journey. I found this tale to be witty and fun. Reece and Lara are great verbal sparring partners and that made this book fun to read. There is plenty of romance in the story and the author truly makes you feel as if you were thrown back in time with them.
I give Loving on Borrowed Time:Lovers’Leap (Volume 1)by Olivia Cunning 4 1/2 stars.
Light reading dan page turner. Keren dan unik. Baru nemu tema time turner yang simple tapi menarik.
OK, so this book was nowhere near as good as Cunning's Sinners on Tour series, but it was cute. Kind of corny at times in the beginning, but I thought the story got better as it progressed. The heroine was kind of wishy-washy about her feelings, but I guess that could have come from her confusion from the time travel. Still, it was a good, steamy read and I liked it well enough to go onto the next one!
