I picked this book up as a way to understand my fourteen year old's world. A lot of common sense information in the book but also a few good reminders for me to remember what it is like to be a teenager. One quote in the book resonated with me because I have the same experience and I'm sure my daughter will too:

p. 129 "Funny, I have trouble remembering names of kids I went to school with, but I can tell you the name of every kid who tormented me from grade school on."

Yep! I have a list of those names too and I can pretty well make a list for my children too. Sigh! So hard to live through and so hard to see for my children.

The guidelines for dating are good and I will have to share them with my daughter when she begins to date! My son too! A nice reminder of how one should and should not be treated by others! I also liked the names of the different types of abusive relationships - the body snatcher, the alien from another planet, the creature from the black lagoon, and the dead-right demon. Funny names but also with some humor to help one see if he or she is in a bad situation with dating.

Good book. For any Christians wondering, the book is not written from a christian perspective. I will put forth that it is done in such a way that it attacks no religion in particular. Despite that, while I was reading it was easy to find the holes where religion fit in perfectly. Lingo Is slightly outdated for us hip & cool teens today.
