I have an antique copy of this book which is a complete gem. This edition, while retaining the original text and illustrations, adds some contemporary art of varying ability. Joe Coleman's work is most welcome but some of the other images are crudely drawn to say the least.
Great historical account of the torture of Christians during the late Roman Empire. Suffers from it's age and at times understandably pious, however does a great job of cataloguing the various tools, apparatus and methods of punishing the various Martyrs.
