Emerald Destiny

Rate this book
What happens when the girl you’ve loved since you were six years old runs away from you, effectively breaking your heart again? Evan is about to find out.

Nineteen-year-old Evan spends his time in the woods of Dare Forest where the trees have personality, as close to Abby as he can be. But love has a cruel master and everyone around him has forbidden he contact her.

Abby’s nights are stressed with her Enchanter life, her dreaded nightmares, and her enduring will to save her brother from his own inner darkness. But when Evan speaks to her for the first time in fourteen years, she finds his voice too painful to bear.
Countless times before them, the union between their opposing families has failed and caused unfathomable destruction. The love in their hearts strives to be together forever, but will their destinies break them apart?

Allie Burke’s second novel in The Enchanters Series breaks through the Paranormal Romance genre to not just entertain her readers but to empower and inspire them to embrace the momentous question: What would you do when faced with an impossible love?

I was so mad!!!! Fictional characters do NOT make me cry. They don't exist. They are in the author's head. Well, I felt the twinge in my stomach, then the tightness in my chest, then the watery eyes, then the tear fell. How absurd! Ms. Burke caused me to become all emotional about enchanters. I kept telling myself, "Don't be stupid. They aren't even real!" It didn't start out that way. Everything seemed hunky dorey. Well, that didn't last long. The relationships in this book are rich and intertwined. THEY don't even really know how they feel sometimes. It was the ending that got to me. Just as the character was coming into his own and thought he could now possible live a happy life, he gets killed off, causing grief and anquish to every other character. But,there are also good things coming along in the lives of the characters. I can see book #3!!!

After finishing Violet Midnight, I couldn't wait to dive back into Abby and Evan's story. With her unforgettable voice, Burke creates a magical world full of love, family and relationships, while weaving the most intense emotions throughout. A beautiful story that's brilliantly written.

So a few days ago I gave my thoughts on author Allie Burke's Violet Midnight and so today I pass along my contemplations regarding the second book in The Enchanters Series Emerald Destiny. Yes, I enjoyed book one quite a bit, but I enjoyed it even more in conjunction with it's partner Emerald Destiny.
Book two begins nearly 20 years after the events of book one. We, again, revisit the lives of Jane and Elias, but we are now joined with their children, twins, Abby and Daniel. These two, much like their parents, have very strong personalities and while they are very individual personalities, they also carry quite a bit of their parents in them, as well as, other family members. Daniel and Abby, also, have a VERY strong connection to each other, however, I felt that Daniel would be much more lost than Abby should they ever be separated for a long period of time.

Speaking of connections, do you recall the strong connection that Elias and Jane have? Well, their daughter is dealing with a very similar issue. Evan Reed, son of her mother's ex, is her destiny. She knows it, he knows it and everyone around them knows it, so why are things so difficult? Oh you know...there has to be some form of conflict in every fantasy romance tale, right? It wouldn't be the same if things just fell into place all nice and neatly.

Emerald Destiny has a smaller cast of characters than its predecessor, but we are still introduced to some new friend and enemies. Not only do we follow Abby and her brother Daniel, but we continue to learn more about Jane and Elias, which pleased me immensely. Old wounds are opened to reveal past secrets that lead to few answers and more questions. There, of course, is conflict that needs dealt with and lots of romance and lovey dovey stuff that will either make you go "awwwwwwww" or want to wretch.

As I mentioned above, I felt that Violet Midnight was much better read along with Emerald Destiny and I am greatly looking forward to reading Amber Passion, which, I believe, is the final book in Then Enchanters Series. I will add that while MUCH better in book two, I still felt that certain scenes were rushed a bit, but not to the point of confusion as I felt in the first book. Overall, a definite fun read that must be read along with its partners to get the full effect.

OH MY GOODNESS!! I am so in love with this series!

This second book in the Enchanters series is set twenty years after the events in Violet Midnight and focuses mainly on the relationship between Evan, Christian's son, and Abby, Jane and Elias' daughter. Their love is so strong, to the point where each has been watching over the other since they the age of six. But secretly, of course, due to their love being kind of forbidden since that age as well.

Christian doesn't want his son to be hurt like he himself was hurt all those years ago by Jane. Every day, he feels a sense of loss, because he just loves her too much. Seeing her with Elias is painful, and he just doesn't want to watch Evan go through that.

Abby is not really forbidden to see Evan, but Elias does not really like her to see him based on who his father is. But you can tell, even from the beginning, that not being with him just kills her, and vice versa.

Along with Abby and Evan's relationship, we get a glimpse into the past. More specifically in Christian and Jane's past: how they met, their relationship that seemed just too good to be true, and then the thing that tore them apart. In this story, the past will connect with the present as Jane and Christian kind of revisit those feelings and that time. Was their separation a mistake? Or was it a lifetime of rejection between their ancestors that decided their fates?

Oh, and we also get to learn a little more about Daniel, Abby's twin brother. And a love that he doesn't have the courage to pursue. But an epiphany just hit me about that love, and I hope to God that Daniel allows himself to pursue this girl in the next book, because it makes total sense for them to be together.

This book had its flaws, but I DO NOT CARE!!! This series makes me all warm and fuzzy when I read it. The characters are all so amazing. Their magic is so beautiful, and I just want more. The way the author writes is practically indescribable. I cannot wait for the last in the series. I am literally jumping up and down in anticipation of reading it.

Emerald Destiny is an emotional ride that you won't want to put down. I liked the first book Violet Midnight but this one I loved. I truly connected with the characters and didn't want to stop reading.

Abby and Evan get to tell their story in this one. It was all about their parents in Violet Midnight. I still loved getting to read about Jane and Christian but Abby and Evan's relationship just took the story to a whole new level. Abby is very strong willed and protective of her family. Then there is her brother Daniel who is even more driven towards protecting his family than his sister is. Together they are a force to be reckoned with.

As I said in the beginning I truly connected with the characters. The way the author tells the story, it's like you are there living it right along with the characters she has created. Some stories are a bit emotional but this one really got me. There is a part in the story that almost made me tear up. I found myself wanting to read any chance I got, it's that good. It will take you on an emotional roller-coaster with lots of twists and turns, suspense and romance. I thought the ending was great and am really looking forward to reading the next book. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.

This book was... fantastic.

When Allie announced that it had been done, that the second book in her series was available for purchase, I immediately went and got my copy. I hadn't read 'Violet Midnight' yet; it was sitting on my Kobo, patiently awaiting one of my lazy days to be read. I'll even admit that I didn't even read the synopsis or description, I just clicked purchase and put it on my Kobo beside its sibling.

So when I finished reading 'Violet Midnight' yesterday afternoon, I smiled to myself and thought, 'perfect, I can start on the next one'. Now, I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't read the first one, so to put it vaguely, when the pages on my screen stopped turning, all I could think about was that because of their bloodlines, those kids were going to have unbelievable powers. I loaded 'Emeral Destiny', started reading, and grinned.

I love that Allie decided to focus on Abby, Daniel and Evan in this book. Not only was the storyline great, it really felt as though she'd settled into her style of writing. The twists were brilliant, the descriptions amazing, and the characters real. I absolutely love the world she's created and can't wait to get the third book when it comes out.

If you love romance, adventure, and magic, Allie Burke is the author for you.

I loved Emerald Destiny just as much as Violet Midnight. Emerald Destiny follows the next generation of Enchanters, who are even more powerful than the last generation. Some familiar characters from the first book play a part as well. Abby and Evan’s story is a sad one. Their parents do their best to keep them apart.
The author does a wonderful job of building on the world that she first introduced in Violet Midnight. Emerald Destiny made me appreciate the character of Cameron even more. I have to say that Daniel was my favorite character. I really felt for him as he struggled with what he was and what he believed his destiny was.
I hope you love The Enchanters’ world as much as I do. I can’t wait for Amber Passion (book three) to come out!

Emerald Destiny is so AWESOME!!!
I loved it!!
Just like the first book, about Abby and Daniel's parents (Jane and Elias), this book rocked my world.

From the start up to the last, I was hooked!
Abby and Evan are amazing!
I love their chemistry and the build up of the characters are there..
Also Daniel, he's amazing!
I love his personality and I can't wait to read his story!
Back to Abby and Evan, I was so touched on this book.
My heart ached for what will happen in the story.. =(
But still I loved it!!

Ms. Allie did a really good job in making this book amazing!

Welcome back to The Enchanters. Emerald Destiny continues beautifully on with the next generation of Enchanters. Allie Burke has created a wonderful, magical place where you go on an amazing emotional roller-coaster ride and you can escape into a world of love, family and the mystical.
In my opinion you have to read book one, Violet Midnight, to follow and understand the story and dynamics of the characters.
I have thoroughly loved visiting the world of The Enchanters and am really looking forward to the release of Amber Passion, the third book of the series.

I defiantly enjoyed this book more than the first one. It was easier to follow and also included more background details about each character. The story is about two teenagers trying to be together despite the animosity between their parents. There is also the paranormal elements that effect their destinies. I do recommend you read the first book if you want to understand this one and enjoy it.

I haven't finished it yet, but I am enjoying the book, despite it being in a genre which I don't care for at all. Allie Burke is such a gifted writer it is difficult NOT to get lost in the world she has created.

Well crafted book that is fresh in it's approach; outstanding art for making all the relationships inter-connections, as well as for depictions of complex emotions and plots. Can't wait for 3rd book to be released. This book series was a delightful find.

At six years old, Abby and Evan have been forbidden to see one another, but nothing can stand in the way of true love. Thirteen years later, Abby and Evan battle their fate and try to be together, yet the life of an Enchanter is always dangerous.
Emerald Destiny is set around 20 years after Violet Midnight and focuses on Elias and Jane's children, as well as Christian and his son.
With new characters, young love, old relationships revisited and action around every corner, Emerald Destiny is the perfect sequel.

If you loved Jane and Elias, and the romance they shared together, you will love reading about Abby and Evan even more. The characters are more complex, and their romance is so much more realistic. They have secretly loved each other for so long, that when they finally get the chance to be together it turns into a beautiful moment, this building relationship is so much better to read about than instant love. I couldn't be happier with the romance.

The new characters in this book are all so unique and diverse, its honestly a pleasure reading about them all. While Abby is the cute and funny young woman who has such a fun and carefree attitude, her twin brother Daniel is almost the exact opposite, he has an inner darkness which sometimes makes him angry and volatile, but we also get to see the sweet and insecure side to him as he talks about the girl he loves.
The relationship that the twins have is one that every brother and sister should have. When one of them needs the other, they are always there for each other, even though they might not show how much they care for each other on the outside, you can definitely tell how much they love one another through the small things they do. Their relationship has honestly made me wish that I wasn't an only child.

We also get to read the book from Christian's point of view as he reflects on his past with Jane, and their relationship before Elias was around. We get to see Christian go through major character development as he realizes what he did wrong in his past, and tries to make a better future for Evan. While I am not so keen on Elias and Jane's parenting style, I found Christian to be the perfect father figure in the end, which made me admire him so much more.

This book isn't perfect, there were definitely some small things I would have changed like adding more of the backstory when Abby and Evan were little. But the small imperfections are so easy to look through because the characters, the romance, and the amount of action this book has are all so wonderful that you forget the small details.
While this book is a very fast read, its also a book that you can't put down once you start. The action and crazy romance make you want to keep reading until you're done.

If you've read the first book in the series, you definitely have to read Emerald Destiny, no matter what you opinion was on the first book, the sequel is much better and has lots of new characters to enjoy. I highly recommend this whole series, the writing and characters are so easy to fall in love with, everyone could find something that they love in these books.

Happy Reading,
-Aneta

***I was gifted this book from the author in exchange for an honest review***

Emerald Destiny picks up roughly fifteen years after the epilogue of Violet Midnight. In essence, it’s not really mandatory for the reader to read Violet Midnight before reading this one. Since the story takes such a wide leap, the reader won’t get lost by reading this alone, though to understand the small things hinted and mentioned from book 1 it probably would be better understood if the first book was read.

Like Violet Midnight, Emerald Destiny is fast-paced; and if I’m not mistaken, a bit shorter in length than Violet Destiny. Either way, it’s no less enjoyable.

I did find a few places where the editor could have given a little more help in how to word certain sentences, nothing major and nothing spelling wise. Just a couple of spots where I had to re-read to understand what the author was trying to make me see.

Emerald Destiny will definitely bring out the emotion factor, which in my book makes it a bit better than Violet Midnight, since by this book the reader is familiar with the key characters and things are seen in whole new lights.

I look forward to reading Amber Passion, the final book in this trilogy. This trilogy has ignited my love to read, which as many avid readers know tends to fade if you hit a book that isn’t that good. Thankfully this trilogy is amazing.

I give this book 5 of 5 paws

I received this book from the author, Allie Burke, and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. Emerald Destiny is the second book in Enchanters Series. This is a story for those readers who like paranormal and books about witches and enchanters. In this book witches are thought to have evil magic powers while enchanters are men and women who can control and manipulate elements, such as fire, water, wind and earth. Make sure you read Violet Midnight before this story. Don’t read too many reviews before either or you might get spoilers. This story is continues Jane and Elias’ story after time has passed quite a bit. This tells the stories of their children and how the different families who are enchanters from the different elements interact.

This book was great. The characters are very approachable and draw the reader in. The story continues to keep having new twists on paranormal ideas which I cannot go into detail without spoilers so read it for yourself. I really wanted to make sure I know how everything was going to go for all the characters. This is a book I would read again!

I’m giving this book 5 fangs.

I feel like most of the book series I have read recently have the same people in them. Right from the start Emerald Destiny caught my attention because it takes off with the next generation of enchanters. It still brought the people I loved from Violet Midnight into the mix, but the story focused on Evan and Abby who met at the tail end of book 1. I loved them as a couple. They beat the odds and found each other even when their respective families did not think they should be together. I also loved this incredibly sweet and intense friendship between the twins Abby and Daniel. I got the sense the author adores her own siblings. The characters continue the power of the elements with their special gifts. And I found myself wishing I had an aura. That to me shows the skill of the author, in that it struck my imagination and the scenes in her book found a place in my own mind and dreams. If I had a color I would want it to be a fiery orange. I can’t wait to start the next book.

This book was a huge disappointment. I was hoping for...I'm not sure, I guess something more. It was short, and too cut and dry. I would have liked it better if it had more emotions with the characters. The love was just there between Abby and Evan, it had no development or blossom. I understood the way they saw each other when they were 6 yo was like love at first sight, and that was cute and great. BUT, how about developing their love and letting it grow, it was just there. This was the first let down. The second let down was; How big of an ASS Hole Abby's character was. She was rude, selfish, and mean. She makes Daniel seem like a ninny. She expects him to be there for her when she is upset, but when he risks his life to save her she freaks out and acts like it was no big deal. She is basically a huge twat. This book was not what I was looking forward to. I feel like the concept may have been good but the turn out was horrible. I probably wont recommend this book.

I received a free copy of this book from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers in exchange for an honest review. Although I did not read the first book in the series, this was not essential to reading Emerald Destiny. Overall, it wasn't a bad read but there were a few flaws.
