She didn't like it but that was because it had both (new) Robin and Nightwing which she found really confusing.
Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.
I work with kids with special needs and several of them have enjoyed this book and several others that I have. Although I think I need to go up a level for them.
It's not often that I learn something new when reading to my children; however, this book taught me something that I didn't know. Who knew that Batman had ever had a previous Robin?
In this story, Batman and Robin prove why they are the true Dynamic Duo. In this case, facing villains as always, they find themselves in need of some assistance. When faced in a sticky situation, it is always best to have someone you can trust to step in, in this instance it was Batman's first ever partner who just happened to be "in the neighborhood."
At the end of the night, at the end of the case, even the first assistant must bow out to the new duo. No matter what, Batman's back with always be covered through thick and thin by his closest partners.
Batman novels by Super DC Heroes are clean and wholesome. I never have to worry about what my child my hear and learn when reading these novels to him, they never disappoint and I am always able to say that justice prevails through every trial that the hero must face.
My boys loved this book as I read it to them. They are special needs teenagers that love superheroes but especially Batman. These books will 'highlight' the good guys and the bad guys at the first of the books. So my youngest one when he saw we had this in our lap said "Who's the bad guys in this book?" So I like that part of these books. This was a level 2 book, but it seemed like it was a bit 'easier' read than most of the other level 2 books. So if you have an early reader than they probably could read this one easier than the others.
My niece and nephew enjoyed this book, but I think that it was perhaps just a tiny bit too mature for my nephew. He certainly sat and listened to it, and was involved with it, but he wasn't has ecstatic about this as he was about I am Optimus Prime or Spider-Man versus Hydro-Man. It did introduce him to Nightwing, however.
