Virginia Miller wrote and illustrated her first George and Bartholomew story after observing a toddler's frustration with potty training. The result was ON YOUR POTTY!, followed by more George and Ba books acclaimed for their simple, authentic dialogue, expressive illustrations, and toddler-friendly themes.

"The next most likely problem needing book treatment," Virginia says, "seemed to be eating -- or not eating -- one's dinner." The winsome EAT YOUR DINNER dramatizes this all-too familiar conflict at the dinner table; in its review of EAT YOUR DINNER, SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL declared, "Everything about this book will appeal to toddlers."

"These books," Virginia says, "are intended to help make light of common parent-child conflicts because if they make you smile, things don't seem so bad." She hopes that every parent and child will recognize the benefits and trials of unconditional love that George the father bear and Bartholomew the child bear share. "When the going gets tough for Bartholomew, it's comforting to him to know that George is always there for him--and will love him through all his moods."

Formerly a resident of Wiltshire, England, Virginia now lives in New Zealand.

"Nah!" said Bartholomew.
So these are 5 simple, and honestly quite repetitive and formulaic stories, but they are so adorable and little ones would love them.
I absolutely adore these stories, and I love Ba and his "nah's". I love George too.
The illustrations are simple, but in a way that would appeal to kids.
After reading these 5 stories borrowed from the library I have decided this is one of those books I need to own.

Maybe it's the cool artwork, or the cute storylines, or the fact that it follows what appears to be a single father bear and his son. Maybe it's all of the above. Whatever the reason, Bartholomew Bear has to be one of my all time favourite storytime books. I've read all five to kids at storytime, even the rather dubious On Your Potty!

A collection of five tales about Bartholomew Bear: On Your Potty!; Eat Your Dinner!; Get Into Bed!; Be Gentle!; I Love You Just the Way You Are.

I thought they were absolutely delightful. I loved them, and I wanted a copy for myself. Ba is a cute character and George is a very good parent. The pictures are a delight. Wonderful read.

I love the simple drawings. I love the simple stories. It is a pleasure both for me and for the children I read the stories to.
