Tragedy had sent music superstar Amanda Callaway to the Wyoming mountains to heal. What she found was another battle to fight... Quinn Sutton.
Snowbound at his ranch, Amanda was glad Quinn was unaware of her real identity. With a chip on his shoulder the size of the Tetons, the rugged mountain man had no use for the opposite sex -- especially city women who ran in the fast lane.
But what Quinn didn't realize was how special his world seemed to Amanda. Battling his misconceptions about her, she vowed to prove she shared the same old-fashioned values... and desires. When he learned who she was, though, would she lose him forever.

This is the story of two very damaged individuals, learning to love and trust for the first time. My favorite type of story, the first love.
The hero Quinn is a single dad trying to do his best to raise his son alone. He is a Wyoming rancher and he has no time for the young thing next door, whom he thinks is his neighbor mistress. Amanda is a pretty young singer who is trying to find her way back after a tragedy. She has had very little love in her life and is as guarded as the hero with her emotions. None shall pass. They could not be more wrong for each other. The hero hates rock music and she is a rock star. The heroine is afraid of strong men and he is very strong. So how can they find a way to make this work?
Read the book and find out!!
Here are a few quotes from the book: "I am not available as a living model for SEX education!" Said Amanda. "Suit yourself. But it's a hell of a loss to my eduction." Says Quinn before he explains that his wife had never had sex with him and that Elliot was not his biological son. "...you and I have more in common than a lack of technique." He said. "Amanda you aren't the only virgin on the place."
Now I should point out that this book is really dated. Back to a time when a woman was concerned about her reputation and a man or woman would smoke without issue. However, when you look beyond this, this is truly a worthwhile read! I loved this story with all its funny twists and turns. The ride was slow at first but then it was really intense.
At the end of this book, I was left with a hopeful happy feeling of well being. "I never dreamed I'd find anyone like you. I'd given up on women. On life too, I guess. I feel like it's all a feverish dream." Says Quinn "You aren't dreaming. We're married and I'm going to love you for the rest of my life." Answers Amanda.
This book allows you to see: how two troubled and damaged souls have finds their way to each other, how they become brave enough to admit their mistakes and move past it. Believe me when I say that the story is way more complex than I have indicated here.
I wanted to leave some drama for you guys here!
On a more personal note: for me Diana Palmer was one of those authors that could bring out my emotions with her basic country way of expressing herself through her characters. I could feel the emotional connection so strongly that when something happened to a characters it felt like it was happening to me.
I LOVED THIS BOOK AND HAVE REREAD IT MANY TIMES! If you have not read it and you like county stories, first love and ranchers, then you really should.
Safety: no cheating, both virgins, some pushing and pulling with no OM/OW drama.
I’m getting homesick for Jacobsville. This is the second book in a row of the LTT series not set in Texas. It takes place in the mountains of Wyoming and the only connection with the LTT is that Quinn, the hero, is friends with Justin from book 2.
But that’s okay- there is plenty of story without the LTT gang. Heroine is a “rock” singer who lost her voice after a fan died at one of her concerts. She has retreated to her aunt’s boyfriend’s remote cabin in the mountains - a questionable choice since it’s the middle of winter. The hero lives close by with his 12-year-old son and a ranch hand/cook/older friend. He thinks the heroine is the cabin owner’s newest mistress and the insulted heroine lets him think that. (Of course). The hero also tells the heroine that he hates women. He might as well I have said: “I’m Kurt and I’m incorrigible.”
But we’re not even out of chapter one before the heroine is sponging – yes, I said and DP said sponging– the hero’s matted hairy chest as he writhes in a fever. The H’s son asked the heroine to help because he thought women knew how to help sick people. Hero is turned on by the heroine’s long hair brushing his hairy chest and her gardenia scent. (This is the second heroine with this scent – will look for patterns in the next books.) That bothers him since he ’s incorrigible hates women and so he snarls and slut shames until the heroine is driven back to her cabin.
But they aren’t parted for long; a storm comes and the heroine loses power. Hero brings her to his house since they have a generator. Heroine gets to know the H’s son and starts teaching him how to read music. She helps feed baby calves and cries when one dies. She also helps the ranch hand/ cook and mends the H’s shirts (while dreaming of chest hair.) H is grumpy/intrigued – doing his best Disney Beast imitation. Heroine is so attracted she tries to tease the H out of his bad mood by sitting in his lap and kissing him. Hero roars in anger. Heroine is reminded of her drunken father who physically abused her so she runs out in the snow in fear.
Hero feels terrible and is afraid she’ll run into the bear traps under the snow and tackles her. This begins our virgin whisperer portion of the story.
Except there’s a twist.
Can you guess?
Diana Palmer Checklist: Hairy Chest – heroine told him he’d need a steam cleaner to get the hot chocolate out of his chest hair after she threw it at him. Heroine’s breast description – large, pink and mauve Cigarettes – check Alcohol – cook put brandy in heroine’s coffee after the calf died. That’s the liquid courage for her to kiss the hero. Town Descriptions- none. Wyoming mountains, ski patrol history lesson, though LOL detail - the 70 year-old hermit with the bear traps is a virgin, too. Hero wants the heroine to know he's not the only one. I don't think they polled the ranch hand/cook.
1 trope that I really passionately hate. MCs realising they love each other when the other fights death. In this one hero very cruelly dismissed the heroine, I don't see any chance of reconciliation, because he is an asshole who doesn't give a shit about other's feelings. He only realises his love for her when he sees news of her death (he really thought she was dead when he realised his feelings). So what use do I have as a reader for this kind of love? And not only that, even after heroine recovered SHE did all the work reassuring him that they'll be fine. Promising to leave her career as a celebrity. Not only he didn't grovel, he also promised her NOTHING. Even a virgin hero can't save a Diana Palmer book!
Solid 2.5. He's a crabby, pouty baby who tries to White Fang her at one point, but he's pretty manageable. No OW, OM is her career, which she dials back without blinking because the whole band hates touring. Ski rescue is tedious and it was disconcerting how fast he was to assume she was dead. Plot moppet is decent -- I think Diana Palmer portrays tweens best.

Cute story of a virgin hero who falls in love with the heroine. This hero was a jerk in the beginning of the book, treating the heroine as a slut, and he was always grumpy, but he soon grows fond of her, and we find out he doesn't really hate women, but he is sort of shy and inexperienced so he keeps them distant because he is afraid of rejection. I understood very well his behaviour, it was a defense mechanism of a man who was cheated by his late wife, a woman who married him only because she was pregnant with a married man and wanted to pass her son as his. The hero kept the child and loved him as if he were his, and this was really cute. He lived in a lonely place and avoided all women before meeting the heroine. The heroine is a typical virgin rockstar, ehm. No joke, really. They fall in love and he wants to propose, but when he finds out who se really is, he decides that she would be better without him, with her career and her band. The heroine is injured in a plane crash (really???) and the hero saves her, and then we have our HEA. Nice story and low angst. The hero was inexperienced and unsure, I found it very cute.
How is this a Long Tall Texan when its set in Wyoming :) This book probably received a star more than it deserved from me for nostalgia reasons alone. But I think this was the first DP I ever read back as a teenager so I guess I looked at it favourably. h is having a bad time of it and heads of to her aunts lovers cabin for some r and r. H is her neighbour who we first met in Justin’s book as he was the rancher Justin was staying with when he went away on business. They don’t get off to a great start at their meeting as he assumes she is another tart of the homeowners and he hates ladies anyway. Despite this she comes to his ungrateful rescue when he’s ill at his sons behest and in return he gets he to move on when there’s a huge storm where her house loses power etc. this does not make him welcoming he has issues with all sorts and is quite old fashioned in his beliefs - rock music = satan and drug use etc. h is pretty old fashioned herself although she is a rock singer she was brought up appallingly and has hangups of her own. Son is onto her when he recognises her from her album covers and promises to keep her secret safe even going so far as to hide his copy. Her band track her down for a benefit concert and when the H discovers who she is he says very mean things and leaves her. She’s off back to work the next day when her plane crashes in a remote area. H is devastated and feels guilty for what he said but offers to go retrieve her body as he used to be a member of the local ski patrol and he’s an ex Olympic standard skier. DP then gives us a history of ski patrol and the H embarks on his recovery mission only to find most of them alive but the h with concussion and a coma. He drags her out and it’s off to hospital with him whispering sweet love in her ear for a rapid recovery. H lies that he’s her fiancé to get news and h tells him she will force him to marry her now for the HEA. H had had a rough time of it his ex really did a number on him to trap him into marriage as the kid wasn’t his so he was understandably bitter but totes loved his kid. Bonus is they were both virgins! What I want to know is on meeting h notices the huge scar on his cheek but it is never mentioned or stroked for the rest of the book. I want to know more!

3.5 This book had good parts and for me not so good parts. loved the kid and the Heroine's story. I realized i am not found of the virgin hero prefer a seasoned alpha male. I still thought the end was a little incomplete. There was a bunch about hero not having money and never taking hers. but the end never mentioned that or a resolution to the issue.
Of all the stories Diana Palmer has written and labeled as "Long, Tall Texans" stories, the most compelling and most poignant happens to be about a hero who was bred, born, and raised in Wyoming.
But what sets Sutton's Way apart from countless others of the sweet, contemporary romance genre is that both the hero and heroine are virgins.
Abused as a child, she ran away to find fame and fortune as a musician and singer, only to retreat to the mountains to recuperate from a concert tragedy. She's afraid of men.
He was a shy, awkward youth, persuaded to rescue a pregnant girl, but their marriage was never consummated. After the birth of her son, she was killed in an accident with the child's father, leaving our hero with a little boy who is not his own. He's now 30+ and all he knows about sex is what he's read in books.
The story is well-told and so unique, it stands out in one's memory long after the reading is done.

Quinn and Amanda. I had to double check that this was actually a Diana Palmer story, it is so unlike anything else I've read by her. Sure Quinn starts out as an over the top asshat, but it was almost curmudgeonly cute how he growled at her all the time. And he even apologizes... several times!! Amanda is hiding away at the cabin of her aunt's latest lover. She is a famous musician and had to take a break after a terrible tragedy. Quinn is prejudiced against Amanda because she is a woman, and he hates all women because of his ex-wife. But he has a son whose 12 and doesn't feel the same dislike of Amanda. Circumstances conspire to bring them together until the inevitable HEA. Like I said before, Quinn is an ass, but imho I felt he made up for it. Deliciously old school, it only lacked the obligatory evil OW. Which was fine by me! The ending was so sweet it was almost cloying. But I enjoyed it anyways.
First time to read about a H who is a virgin at 30+. The plot has some loopholes like the band members agreeing to stop doing concerts at the peak of their career.
The story, as most romance stories go, needed a few crucial twists, like a near-death experience or a going away from the situation scene for one of the main characters to finally come to grips with the hidden, unsaid, implied feelings for the other person.
I enjoyed this easy read, started in the mid-afternoon and finished late at night with work and dinner in between.
Why do I do this to myself? There's something deliciously masochistic about reading about a 30-something virginal misogynist cattle rancher and a country music star "hiding" her slutty fame from him. Throw in the preternaturally mature son of Sutton's deceased wife and her married lover, and you officially have the most contrived, ridiculous, explosive book ever. I kind of loved hating it.
Wonderful book hard man Quinn meets his match when he meets Amanda towards the end I cried scared that he was going to lose her but love wins in the end can't wait to read more of this series she just wanted to get away after a tragedy love all of Diana Palmer books great book
At some point I was expecting Sutton the “He-man Woman Hater” to say they need to MAGA or something cause it rolled off him in spades. Amanda wasn’t much better tho but it wasn’t horrible.
Not as disjointed in conversation and pacing as Palmer’s usual but still not that great. Seriously, casual questions elicit the strangest responses from characters. Things like “Are you from around here?” Get answered by “No, I’m from blank blank but my mother’s cousin has a home here. He was a Navy Seal before he moved here with his wife. Now he has two kids and grows the best rutabagas. His sister Maureen makes a fantastic omelette.” Yeah, weird. We didn’t ask and no one cares. Her characters also seem to all operate in the same mode. The men glare and stomp for no understandable reason. Take the guy here, his wife manipulated him into marrying her so all women are liars and promiscuous. The females of Palmer’s stories are all wannabe cheeky imps who don’t have the sharp humor she thinks they do. They all end up “helplessly” (she uses that word many times in EVERY single story) throwing themselves at the growly guy who ends up accusing them of whorish behavior. He always does a complete 180 because he becomes filled with masculine pride that a woman wants him and begins pursuing HER. There’s usually unlikely drama that pulls them apart and unlikely and repetitive drama that brings them together. I’ll also add that her females make you feel like you’re at a tennis match with the way they flirt and run after the guy, take great pleasure in getting felt up and then suddenly are attacked with maidenly shyness which they then lose just as quickly. I’m fine with characters being shy or conservative in their values but for heaven’s sake, make them consistent! Palmer also gets VERRRRY preachy in her novels with the guys and gals going on and on about the heathens of the world who engage in satanic practices and sleep around indiscriminately. I’m very pro monogamy but even I don’t wanted to be treated to multiple lectures on it by sanctimonious characters. Reading one Palmer story means you’ve read them all as she recycles conversations, plots, characters and even the same words in paragraphs.
Quinn is a Wyoming rancher and single dad. Amanda is a young rock music singer that came to stay in a isolated cabin in the mountains of Wyoming to get over a tragedy. They have nothing in common so why do they feel pulled to each other? Quinn just like Amanda didn't have any sexual experience but that didn't made him less Alpha to me. He is strong and honest and his son was adorable. I loved the scene when he goes to rescue Amanda and suddenly we realise he is not just a rancher he has layers to him. Really good read. Highly recommended
While our hero, Quinn is a gruff and bitter, he's got a heart of gold buried deep. Amanda is a sweet woman who can see that heart of his and wants to help him get rid of the bitterness. When they're trapped together with Quinn's 12 year old son and an older ranch foreman from a mountain snowstorm, they both feel their chemistry is about to explode. Both Amanda and Quinn have troubled pasts that have left some pretty hefty emotional scars. Discovering they are soulmates sets on their journey to HEA. The whole last chapter is a great epilogue.
