So far none of these samples are keepers for me. Later: nope, didn't care for any of them, Simon & Schuster, sorry.
Caveat: I do like some of these writers very much, but the samples were too short to intrigue me and offered not enough background information to make them enjoyable.

The book was fine for its purpose, but few of the novels reviewed particularly interested me.
