Savannah Cross was born into a life of isolation and abuse. As a child, she witnessed her parents perform acts of malevolent evil, and now feels permanently tainted by their dark deeds.
When a coven discovers a tear stricken child, wounded on their elders lawn, they offer her a sanctuary she has never known. Savannah spends the next several years shattered, continuously looking over her shoulder, waiting for the darkness to claim her.
On her 16th birthday, Savannah’s life takes a drastic turn. She is consumed by overwhelming power that forever alters her emotionally and physically.
She must choose between two loves; the one who taught her to smile or the darkly seductive stranger who tempts her towards another path.
Savannah must decide between the coven that was her haven and another one vying for her initiation. Just as Savannah begins to grasp what fate has in store for her, an evil looms over her loved ones; coming to claim an unbreakable debt.
How will she survive the greatest evil she has ever witnessed… long enough to have a choice to make?

The book began by describing Savannah's dark past and then slipped into the current day. It has a unique take on witches and other supernatural creatures, which continues throughout the series. As I have read the series in it's entirety (one of the few), I think it's important to make sure everyone knows that the ending is unique, which many people are shocked by. However, I will tell you that the ending has a real purpose that's revealed throughout the series. There are 4 books in it and some parts in the first book may seem slightly out of place, but the the whole series plot they are needed. The 1st book is free and sets everything for the rest of the series and all of the characters have their own purpose. The alternate perspectives even have a reasoning behind them that I think will surprise everyone. The 2nd book has much more action and introduces characters that are pivotal to the plot, while continuing with the original characters and beginning to reveal the meaning behind their placement. I think everyone needs to know that the 2nd book really shows where the series is going. It tells you more background and key elements. If you're the type of reader who believes that everything should be revealed in the 1st book- this is probably not a series for you, but if you like a series that will keep you on your feet- you should delve into this one. It's not a run of the mill series and it is definitely in it's own realm (in a good way).
I read this book before most of the other people. There are a few typos in the middle of the book, but not enough to detract from the amazing storyline. I did not notice any strange indentations. I didn't think that there were any drastic character alterations, but there are a lot of twists to the story. I liked that there were twists, because I never knew what would happen. It left me on the edge of my seat! I know another reviewer said that there were unbelievable circumstances, but this is a paranormal book. I feel that all paranormal books have "unbelievable circumstances" and that is what I like about them. This book completely rewrites the rules of paranormal books and the author writes in a unique style. The ending might not be for everyone, but I loved it. I liked that it didn't follow in the footsteps of other books in the teen genre. If it had I would have less respect for the author. She doesn't model her work after anyone. My favorite aspect of this book is the message it sends to everyone. That you need to choose to really live and not let everyone else live for you. That taking control of your own destiny can give you the strength to succeed. This is one of my top 3 favorite books of all time! For $2.99 it's well worth the price!
This is a very interesting fantasy novel. The author includes many twists to keep the reader on the edge of his/her seat. The ending is not predictable at all-a little unexpected. The reader will enjoy getting to know the characters and watching their progress and growth in the novel; there are a few sudden character development traits that might leave the reader a little confused for a few seconds, but it doesn't detract much from the story.
Savannah is the main character. She has very "negative" parents to say the least, they both practiced bad magic. They even perform human sacrifice rituals that will leave the reader with a bad taste in his/her mouth. They don't appear to care for Savannah much at all-she is kept in a cage in parts of the book. Savannah escapes at age 9, wandering to a home that she believes is safe. She is taken in, but she still has trust issues. The reader sees her story truly take off at age 15, where all the trouble starts when Savannah accidentally releases a demon.
This book is fast-paced and fun to read. Savannah is an intriguing main character, she will keep the reader paying attention. The secondary characters are just as exciting to get to know-some in a bad way, most good. The reader will have a fairly easy time getting into the story and staying there. This book is recommended to fantasy readers.
I loved this book! If you took the torturous pasts/character depth from Lover Awakened (only young adult), mix in some magic from The Initiation and The Captive, Part I, and blend it together with the direct writing in the first Vampire Academy... you would get this book. Of course, that is just the writing style. ;) I don't want to give away any of the plot. I'm glad to see that the next book in the series will be out in October!
Note: This is a fast paced book that takes a lot of different paranormal aspects and spins them into a web, which creates its own world. This book is not for people who aren't into the paranormal, nor is it for people who enjoy a straight forward plot that does not have any surprises.
As the cover artist for the book, I got a guest pass to read the first half of the book. I've read some passages that J.D. would post, but NOTHING compares to the teaser I was able to read. The writing is detailed and vivid, and it's clean and easy to read.. I fell in love with the characters, and particularly one :) and the storyline so far is keeping me turning the pages. I can't wait to read the rest of this story as I have been thinking about what will happen next ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT. It's like they (the characters) become real, and you are submersed in their reality.
It was breathtaking. Release date can't come soon enough!
This book was pretty intense! Wow! I'm a little taken back by the ending though - but only because it wasn't what I was expecting - give me time to let it sink in :)
The book starts out with Savannah telling her story of her past - up until she was 9 years old, her life was utterly hell - As witches, Her parents were thrown out of their coven because they started practicing dark magic - the really bad dark magic.
When Savannah was a baby, her mother adored her , but as time went on - they grew darker and darker and started making sacrifice by killing innocent people - Twice a week, Savannah watched it all take place from the inside of her cage.
When her parents couldn't find anyone to sacrifice, they used Savannah. She could feel the darkness dispense itself from her pores. It would take that bit of innocence with it. Her school screamed at the loss as it was torn from her.
One day when she was 9 years old, she escaped the house through the tiny bathroom window. She knew of the town Meadow Falls as the town her parent's coven was in. She believed she could find the coven and they would help her.
It was nighttime when she arrived, she had no idea where she was or where she was going, but she started walking. At the edge of town, she saw a few lights on in a few of the houses. One of the houses had the feel of protection on it. it beckoned her to approach.
As she inched toward the house, her emotions were bombarding her. She backed up and stepped on a sprinkler head, twisting her ankle until she heard the bone crack, and she went down in a painful cry.
An elderly woman stepped out the door and onto the porch. She screamed for her son to come down and help bring this lost looking child into the house.
When Savannah told them who her parents were, Maye - the older woman contacted the rest of the coven and "took care of things" with her parents.
Time laps on - ok the witches come into their power at the 16th anniversary of their first breath of life. So we are at Savannah's life, now at 15 years old - she is in high school. Still scared to be around people she doesn't know or trust - but she knows her 2 best friends, Izzy and Willow - and of course Ash - her foster brother.
Everything is going well in life as they know it until she learns that the house her parents owned was being sold. Maye wanted Savannah to go back to the house to go through their things. Savannah was scared to death to set foot back into that house, but all things considering, she went with Maye.
When Maye went upstairs to start going through things, Savannah went into the library - a strange thing happened while she was sitting in her favorite chair - she looked down and noticed a board out of place .. so she opened it up to see a lever - when she turned the lever, the bookshelf opened up into a hidden passage -
And That's where it all begins ... When she releases the demon into the world - the demon that her parents had somehow shoved into a box, everything turned around on her.
This book has it all - my favorite shifter of a Panther - the romance triangle, and the friendship and love that grows between these witches :)
Great book - I'm looking forward to the next one already :)
Savannah “S” showed up in the darkness at Maye Emmons’ home. She had escaped her parents – die hard black witches who made her watch sacrifices twice a week: human sacrifices – and was not going back. Fortunately, Meadow Falls knew all about her parents; they had helped found the coven there and had been kicked out of it when folks found out their dark leanings. Going to school was a chore, S had her best friend Willow and Maye’s other itinerant person, Ash to watch over her but they all want her. The Meadow Falls witches want her and the Sacred Moon group wants her more! Since her ascension is getting closer S’s magic is totally out of control. She tries to distance herself from stressful situations and naturally walks right into one. Liam, son of the Sacred Moon high priestess; is supposed to seduce Savannah (his special talent) into joining them. Ash, always there, always helping, has fallen hard for her himself. Which one? Neither? Many things can be changed with her choice. What a great story! An unusual plot, typical teen angst and bad, bad people all wrapped up in one. J. D. Stroube has done a most excellent job and I wait not too patiently to see her next tale.
With a heart-wrenching beginning, this novella will grab your attention and refuse to let go. Each character helps build emotional connections until you are completely immersed, and it creates the feeling you are experiencing the situation.
Stroube, as a debut author, does a great job with details, flow, and an awesome climax. The open ending does a great job setting the stage for the next book without the feeling of incompleteness. This is a great Urban Fantasy geared towards Young Adults and I can’t wait for the next one!
My only complaint is the farther into the book you get, the more grammar error you see. I gave a rating of 4.5 because I cannot give a book with so many grammatical errors a 5, but the story is great!
Ok, I'm stuck! The story would be a 5 if it weren't for the ending but then the ending is good because it's not expected! I really liked this one. I look forward to future stories!
this was a great book!! i just hope the story continues i want to know who savannah might end up with. at least i hope she ends up with one of them. can't wait to read more!!
The author provided me with an ARC copy of this book. I thought that it was amazing, with characters that grow throughout the book. Savannah is such a deep character, who has many layers to her personality. I find her story inspiring. Caged in Darkness has a great message to send to people everywhere, which is that no matter how much darkness tries to corrupt you, it is possible to overcome it. The book had a lot of surprises and is so much more than the synopsis relates! I expected this to be a simple plot, but it developed into a four dimensional world that immersed me in each decision made throughout the book. The characters were enjoyable and each of them had their unique personality. I can't wait to read the next book!
Caged in Darkness is the first book in the Caged series by J.D Stroub.
For 9 years Savannah Cross was held captive in a cage witnessing terrible horrors and being treated cruelly all at the hands of her inordinately powerful parents. When a rare occasion arose for her to escape, she took the chance and headed to Meadow Falls witch Coven which she had previously heard of and was warmly accepted by Maye and Ash who quickly became her surrogate family.
Savannah descends from one of the most powerful lineages of witches and her parent’s became obsessed with dark magic and through human sacrifices managed to summon a demon, which they then locked in a bloodstone box. After their deaths, Savannah was tasked with retrieving items of importance and unknowingly tripped on the box and unleashed the demon. This is where all the action begins and Savannah along with her friends have to find a way to banish the demon before he wreaks havoc on the life Savannah has built for herself.
Savannah is due to come into her powers on her 16th birthday, it is then she will also choose her coven – Meadow Falls coven which she has always known as well as one which are trying to initiate her into their own, the Sacred Moon coven. Trying to ‘seduce’ her into the coven is Liam, the son of a high priestess and forced into the task of swaying her decision. I wasn’t a fan of Liam initially but he gradually grew on me.
Also vying for Savannah’s attention was Ash, who I adored! He has always cared for and protected Savannah since her arrival in Meadow Falls and taught her to trust – I thought he was a wonderful love interest for her, I was just shocked by his friendship with Isis and Griffin; the way they treated Savannah seemed to go against everything he believed in.
Savannah as a main heroine frustrated me on numerous occasions, she was emotionally unavailable which could be understood because of what she had been through but there were times when her actions went against everything I would have expected from her. She was indecisive about her love life and who she actually wanted to be with – it was all a bit back and forth for my liking. I did like the times she did show her strength and determination to try and sort out the demon problems – her take charge attitude in these circumstances was the heroine I enjoyed reading about.
Caged in Darkness was told from Savannah, Liam and Ash’s POV’s which I always enjoy, it gives us a greater glimpse into each of their inner thoughts and reasoning behind their actions.
I loved Savannah’s best friends Willow and Izzy & was saddened by what happened to Izzy; each of the secondary characters were fleshed out well. Maye and Ash were truly wonderful and treated Savannah with love and respect and never an outcast.
I was torn in my feelings of Caged in Darkness, I found it quite enjoyable but unfortunately there was something missing and I didn’t love> it. The pacing at times was slow for me, but I did enjoy J.D Stroube’s writing and the plot certainly held my interest.
There were a number of editing problems which were easily overlooked and I was quite shocked by the twist at the end; I am keen to read the sequel Caged by Damnation to see how it all pans out.
Caged in Darkness had the potential to be a really good book, but the abundance of spelling/grammar/sentence structure issues kept me from enjoying the story (seriously, I want my $2.99 back because it was just ridiculous). The premise was really good, but everything was just poorly executed and the writing needs work.I felt like the character's personalities were never really nailed down; nothing more than words on paper because the writing just wasn't up to par. I could never really form a picture of them in my head and had a hard time connecting with them and the story. While we're talking about the writing, I felt like there was a very noticeable shift in the writing style/quality after the first three journal entries. Was it just me? The writing after Savannah reaches Maye's place just wasn't the same as the writing before that point. Also, the story kept shifting from one thing to the next. It was just very disjointed. It's a shame because I really liked Ash and Savannah in the beginning, but once I got up to about 40% on my kindle, reading became a chore.
When I read this book, I was WOWED by the intensity of the author's written work. It was a fast-paced novel that practically made me clutch the book till the end. This was an exciting read!
I started reading this book then my E-reader had a major melt down and I lose all my books... unit has been replaced and I have retrieved the book again. Started reading 06/09/11
Savannah begins her journal by giving us some history of how she came to live with Aunt Maye and Ash.
She has friends - something that surprises her - she still feels that part of her is missing - that her parents, in so way, stole her soul.
Liam's Coven give Savannah a surprise gift - A spirit panther called Kit, they joined the cat's spirit to her as the cat was dying and now she can change into a panther - Kit can leave her body. {Now you know what give someone who has everything.)
Maye takes Savannah to her parents house to retrieve any personnal effects - Aunt Maye leaves her on her own and she discovers a hidden room filled with journals and artifacts... She accidently knocks over a box and releases a demon....!!!!??@
If I was going to do something as dangerous as capturing a demon (as black smoke ) in a crystal box then I would be making sure it could be locked!!!....just saying.... :^
We need to find out out will happen to Savannah and Ash and Liam. Is Liam going to leave his others coven? he seems to not like it very much. Why is he on his own? Is Izzy going to stay around as a ghost? Willow bargained with Death - what will be the outcome of that? How did she know what to do when Ash died? How did Kali (hellhound) know so much about the demon? How did she know to stop the friends from summoning him? Is she really on their side?
-I love how strong Savannah is! Not to be confused with emotionally available, that she is not. -Maye, Savannah's foster "aunt" she seemed more like an aunt to me than a mom, was awesome. She wasn't a missing in action "parent" but she wasn't up in the teens business all the time either. -Ash - there are things I loved about Ash, and things that really irked me about him. On one hand he can be really sweet, and takes care of Savannah the way a good "brother" or "boyfriend" would. (I'll get to the other hand of him in just a minute.) -Savannah's friends, Izzy and Willow! True friends each with their own personalities that I couldn't help but love. -Having characters that were easy to hate or at the very least extremely dislike really added to the story. (More on this in the grievances) -I loved how original this book felt, I can honestly say I haven't read another story that reminded me of this one. -The twists and turns at the end of the book were fabulous. -I really enjoyed how the author uses Savannah's memories of her parents to convey their downward spiral into the darkness. -The romance and how it was handled in the end was a complete surprise, and one that I felt really worked wonderfully in this story. -That cover! It truly is GORGEOUS!
Airing of the Grievances:
(let it be known that my grievances aren't problems with the writing of the story, more like things that made me growl and groan during the reading of the book. these can actually be things that made the story better.) -Back to Ash - what was up with the way he let his friends treat Savannah? I had a really hard time loving him because of this. In fact this is probably the biggest grievance I have with this entire book. -Isis and Griffin are jerks! I can't figure out why Ash is friends with them. He actually admits to not liking Isis, but continues to hang out with her because of Griffin. -Let's just say Griffin wouldn't be my best friend. -Liam - he's as spineless as he is pretty. Enough said!
To Sum it All Up:
Caged in Darkness was a great read that kept me emotionally involved throughout. Whether I was freaking out about what a jerk someone was, or loving how amazing someone else was, I was constantly feeling. This book was easy to read because it never felt overly descriptive or character driven, it was the perfect balance between the two. I appreciated that the book had an ending even though there is another book in the series. I will most definitely being reading Caged by Damnation, book 2 of the Caged series.
Over the past few days I have been reading lukewarm novels that have left me feeling as if I should avoid books by new author for a while. Boy, am I glad I didn’t do it! I read "Caged in Darkness" in one sitting. I just loved it and extremely impressed with the writing of J.D. Stroube. She writes in such a way that illicits empathy for her characters and their plights.
Savannah was terrible abused by her dark magic parents. They were so evil that they had been cast out by not one but two covens. They kept Savannah malnourished, beaten and frightened as they tortured and kill many human victims. However, at the age of nine Savannah manages to escape. She finds help and solace with her parent’s original coven. Maye, one of the members takes Savannah in and she helps her regain some semblance of humanity and a normal life. Maye also is raising her orphaned nephew, Ash.
At the age of sixteen, witches come into their power. Savannah it seems hails from a very powerful bloodline and promises to be a power to behold. However, others have interest in her budding abilities and plan to lure her over to their side if possible. One such lure is a sexy warlock, Liam. While cleaning out her parent’s old home for the new buyers, Savannah discovers a secret room while contains a box that binds a demon. Before she knows it, the demon is released and reaping havoc on innocent people. Savannah is desperate to stop this demon at any cost; but, will she emerge whole or a shell of her former self?
This story is filled with griping suspense, intrigue, incredible support characters and mystery. There are so many nuances to the plot and the imagery is colorful and rich. This was the reason I could not put the book down and completed reading it in one sitting. I know when I love a book because I want to read it again and this book makes me want to do just that. I cannot wait for the sequel, "Caged by Damnation." It promises another wild ride. Pick up this book, you will not regret it!
This is a difficult book to review, I bought it from Smashwords, which shows that the author has revised it several times. It's extremely obvious, because I didn't notice a single editing mistake (Thankfully!). The book was well written, I like the authors voice. I wish it were longer, but since it's a series I will get more of it. I liked some characters and LOVED others! A lot of events take place in the book at a fast pace, which means I was never bored. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ending! I really felt like the book deviated from the norm (Good thing) and I like that I'm not entirely sure where she is going with the series. She left a lot open to leave me in anticipation for the next book! I thought that the take on witches was interesting and certainly different than what I am used to. That she brought an entirely new supernatural world to live was exciting. It was refreshing to read a YA book that didn't have the "perfect" main character. She had flaws and she had a past that reflected her present tense. Her support network was interesting and I loved the tension between Savannah and the guys. Kit was my favorite! I definitely want more from this author and since her book was cheap, I think it was worth more than what I paid. I stalked her website (not creepy, since she's an author, right?) and saw that she is coming out with a ton of books very quickly. I love that I won't have to wait around, while Caged in Darkness gathers metaphorical dust on my PC. I'll be able to move to the next book in the series, while the first book is still fresh in my mind. Does anyone know what date it somes out in paperback? I bought the ebook, but I want this one on my shelf! I also couldn't find out if she is doing a book tour or signings. If anyone knows, let me know ASAP! Also, I heard that she did a teaser short story for Caged in Darkness. Does anyone know if she is going to do that for all of her other books too?
Caged in Darkness is a book that takes you on a emotional ride. It has it all such as a thought provoking plot, yummy male leads, amazing action scenes and pent up romance that will have you turning the pages for more.
The story starts off with Savannah Cross telling the memories of her horrid life when she was 9 years old. She was an abused child that had to live her life in a cage and forced to watch as her parents sacrificed countless lives to demons. Savannah managed to escape one day, although, she still feels the darkness her parents brought into the world.
Even though Savannah has lived a peaceful life since then she cannot help but feel that the darkness is waiting to stake a claim to her. She was taken in by a neighboring coven and taught the ways to use her magic but when her sixteenth birthday arrives she is consumed by unimaginable power.
This power is unheard of and has two covens fighting for her and Savannah must choose between the coven that gave her sanctuary and love or the one that embraces all she has been taught to hate. This would be enough for anyone to handle but insert two hunky males who are both trying to win her over and Savannah's head is spinning.
When I first saw Caged in Darkness on my kindle I hadn't heard that much about it but I decided to read it anyways. The title was different and the story line had me intrigued, so I bought it and read it within no time. I couldn't put this down. It was exceptionally written and gave me the feeling that I was reading a story about someone who I could meet out in the real world somewhere. The characters are so real that anyone could relate to them. They will find themselves laughing, crying and worrying right along with them (I sure did!). If you haven't picked this book up yet or bought it in E format please do!! You don't want to miss this astonishing read! :)
I want to first say I wrote a review already and then hit a wrong button (ACK!) and lost the whole thing. Cannot believe it... very frustrating.
I am not one to go out looking for paranormal romances. Although I have read a few and enjoyed them, my personal preferences are not in this genre. I also want to make clear that I am nearly 40 years old and am aware that young adult novels do not always connect well for me.
I had some issues with the book. Mostly they were at the personal preference end of the spectrum. I did note some grammatical issues outside of dialog. This was not an overwhelming issue for me, but it was noticed. I also found myself wishing for a broader range of wording; the same descriptive words came up too closely to each other for my taste. I would have liked to have seen about 30 more pages worth of writing (throughout) to flesh the story out a bit more. It often felt one dimensional. I felt as if things happened or things were accepted too easily. I really wanted to care about the characters. I longed for it, yet found myself too far removed from them.
But, I loved the twist at the end. Loved it. Brilliant! Also, I like the subtle and natural humor dispersed in the story.
Generally I give a book a "2" if I am unfulfilled by it and give it a "3" if I enjoyed it, yet do not desire to re-read it. Neither of these criteria really fit how I felt about the book. I was not satisfied with it, BUT have some curiosity as to what will happen in the next book. I ultimately decided to give it a "3".
I am absolutely stumped about where to start this review. I liked aspects of this enough to enjoy it some and I can see the potential within the story, but overall I can't say I enjoyed reading it.
I think the biggest problem I had with this book was the writing. It didn't seem to flow naturally for me. The writing in the beginning was really gripping and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen, but it seemed to have lost that as soon as Savannah hit her teens. Plus the point of view changes were a little odd, I got use to them so it wasn't entirely bad but it was unexpected. I found some of the conversations a little scripted at times and some of the interactions between characters really irked me (some of which is explained toward the end). Also I can honestly say I didn't understand some of Savannah's reasoning behind things, and at times it felt like it was just a means to end for the plot. Since I finished it I can kind of see why but it still feels more like I'm making excuses for it. The love triangle was annoying to me because it seemed to be more of a lust triangle, only a tad more committed. A few situations felt really random and unnecessary also.
The ending was...not what I expected but I'm not sure it was a good thing. It explained some things that happened early, so it had a bit of clarity to it...but I didn't really like it. It seemed like it explained away all the progress that had happened in the book.
I'm curious enough that I will probably check out the second one when it comes out but I can't say it will be top priority.
I truely LOVED this book! I admit it is my first witch story but it has hooked me in. The way that J.D. Straube writes is beautiful and compelling. This book is very addicting and I'm so excited to get sucked into the next one. This was an intoxicating read that people will fall in love with.
The characters are described in such a way that they come to life on the page and walk right into your heart. Savanah has lived a life that no person should have to go through. However she is strong and has the will that I admire. Her friends Willo and Izzy are great additions that help inhance the story and give it more depth. Leeum is what I like to call a character you love to hate. Even though he does things that are not excusable, he still has these moments that try and change your opinion. Ash is my favorite male character. He is sexy and has a dry humor that will keep you smiling. Mae is the mother we wish we could all have. She sweet, understanding but very strong and capable.
This book is a must read for everyone. Even if you are not into the genre I think you will still adore this one. It is very well written and has the perfect flow of events, plot and character development. There is something here for everyone, no matter what you are into. If you love plots that have twists and turns that keep you guessing this book has all of that and more. If you are anything like me the ending will leave you craving more... Thank God it's a series:)
Awesome! That’s the best way to describe this book. I bought this for my kindle on a whim, I was disappointed in the series I had been reading and wanted something different. I was very pleasantly surprised. This book was very different than most of the stuff I have read , but in a good way. The story is told from different perspectives, which really made for a great pace. The characters were very interesting and well fleshed out. I LOVED the main character Savannah. She was very cleverly written. She had a great back-story that makes you completely invested in her, and you find yourself really rooting for this girl. The author gives us a unique glance into the minds of two of the other characters which really makes you more invested in their stories as well. I couldn’t put this book down, from the very first page I was hooked. The book moves along very fast , with lots of neat twist and turns. I will admit the kindle version has several typo’s but its not too distracting. I highly HIGHLY recommend this to fans of paranormal/urban fantasy books. This is a big winner in my opinion.

"Caged in Darkness" by J.D. Stroube was a good paranormal novel that once you got into this read you could get caught up into it especially if you love a witch story. This author really knows how to keep the readers attention giving you a very detail read. I found the characters were so well developed and described in such a way they seemed to come to life as you were reading this novel. Poor Savannah Cross was truly one that had lived a life that had been horrible and from this storyline will keep you turning the pages. There will be a lot of twist in this story so you will never really know what is going to happen next. If you are into a good paranormal read with witches, magic, psychics, supernatural, demons, angels, gods, shifters and horror, you have come to the right place for "Caged in Darkness" will give it all to you. Would I recommend?
I have to say that this book grabbed me at the start, and at the end left me with my mouth hanging open in shock. The overall plot was exciting, and I was anxious to see where things were going and what would happen next.
Savannah's story was heartbreaking. The character development made me feel for Savannah, and each twist and turn left me wondering where she was going to end up. At the end all I can say is wow. I completely didn't see it coming.
Knowing the book is part of a series, I'm curious to see where the next book will be going. It was an overall fun read. I felt the first half of the book flowed smoothly, but near the middle it became a bit rushed as if things were happening too fast to come to a resolution.
I was left with a few questions that I hope will be wrapped up as the series continues. I enjoyed the descriptions of the spells and the interesting mix of magic and the regular world. All in all, I'll be looking forward to the next book in the series.
