Book Five in the Chop, Chop series (be sure to start with Book One - Chop, Chop). Everything is perfect in David's life - he has a wonderful wife, three children that he loves dearly, and he's living in Cavendish, his favorite place in the world. But one startling revelation and two court hearings threaten to take away everything that David holds dear to his heart.
Signs of a good book - they make you laugh out loud (San Francisco trip) they make you sad (Amber) they make you mad (David's treatment of others) they bring it back around to make you want to start the next one immediately.
This book had all of these plus some.
David and Laci, in the other brother, became foster parents to Amber. In this book both Amber and Dorito's mom show up. This is the story oh how foster / adopted parents have to adjust when that happens.
It's about how strong relationships are during the trials God put us through and how we hand the trials.
Wow--Dave and Laci really go through a lot of shockers in this one. Through it all, though, the message is affirmed and reaffirmed that God works everything to good, even if we don't understand it. My only complaint is that the kindle version seems to have a lot of typos, which I find very distracting.
That is NOT how you end a book...just sayin'. Anyway, though it made me cry and sweat more than a girl ought to, it was good. David got on my nerves a lot which is why this book has 4 stars. He was inhuman and blind to what he was doing. Which I hate because I pitied people throughout the whole book which gave me chest pains.
This book was a wonderful continuation of the Chop Chop series. As David and Laci are confronted with unexplicable loss, you sit with them, cry with them and pray with them and fir them as they lose one foster child back to her mother, and fight to keep their son, almost at the cost of their marriage. I can hardly wait for the next one!

I just finished this book today and started the 6th one. This book opened my eyes and my heart to what I am feeling now. The emotions that David goes through are how I have been feeling on certain events that are and have been happening in my life. I am seeing why God has told me to read these books.
I absolutely love this series. So much so that I read this book all in one day! I just HAD to know what was going to happen! And I'm just itching to start the next one. The story just pulls you in and makes you a part of it, and you can't help but feel every emotion the characters go through. Excellent story!
Ok L N Cronk. I admit it. You have me hooked! I have enjoyed all your books, although I have a few problems with some of the issues raised in book 2. But this one - this one is the heartbreaker. I don't easily reduce to tears, but this one almost achieved it. And I will be buying anything else you write. Thank you for giving me some very good reads.
I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Each book brings a new trial to David and Laci’s life and shows us how we can overcome life’s adversities yet still have a close walk with Him. This book is no exception. David and Laci face what life has to give them, yet remain strong in their Christian walk. Good uplifting series.
I am still loving this books, but the typos (in the Kindle edition at least) are annoying. I notice that most Kindle book have typos, but the first of this series didn't have that many or any. But the last ones had some...but the stories are still awesome!
I'm really glad she started focusing on David's friend, Tanner. he's an enjoyable character. however, upon reading the back, to find that there's only one more book, I'm torn between reading the stories about Charlotte and Tanner, and just stopping now. at the happy ending.
This didn't disappoint. What I appreciate about this whole series is that everything doesn't always end up the way we want it too. Just like real life. The characters react as real people would and I never feel as if I am being preached at
I like how this book focused on Tanner a lot as well. Definitely saw a different side of David and I can't say that I enjoyed how passive Laci was but I guess it goes in line with her character. Ready to read the next book in the series.
Once again I am amazed at the plot twists and character development. David and Lack are real with their pain, their questions and their actions. This book exposes that great big fear that most Christians have - afraid to be mad at God. Great book!
Okay, David really messed up in this novel. He so badly needed God but didn’t realise. He was still upset about Amber leaving him and he was upset with God at the same time. While he was going through difficulties, he was able to remember that Tanner needed to hear about God. David also needed to show love to others and think less of himself.
During many occasions I felt like slapping David had he been real. He acted childish and so irrational in many occasions.
I appreciate that the author mentioned the biblical order of marriage and I liked Laci more. This book kept me off sleep because I wanted to know what really happened. It certainly was a very good read.
I am beginning to hate Dave, the main character. He’s selfish and mysoginistic. I am a Christian and I have never heard of a wife having to cow tow to her husbands will because he is the head of their home so is like the head of Christ. It made me so mad to read that part. I am hoping that Dave has some sort of redemption in the last book because I still want to know what will happen to him. I just hope that he eventually stops being such a stupid head!
Still like the story line, but the lead male in the story is so negative it makes it heavy to read. He rants and certainly doesn't act like the spiritual head of his family.
This book in the Chop Chop series was again another awesome read. I loved the banter between David and Tanner.I found myself giggling at their crazy antics. I also found myself deeply moved and saddened by circumstances that happened in David's family. This book shows how life happens. Things are not always in our control and we have to trust God and His will for our lives. I am so loving these characters and this series.
David has to deal with Charlotte becoming pregnant. She was dating Jordan, but the baby was not his. It was her ex-boyfriend's baby. She planned to give the baby up for adoption. Jordan was crushed that she was pregnant and didn't say anything to him.
Tanner and Jordan's dad was found in his car in the lake. He had been missing for a few years. The authorities suspected murder.
I liked everything about this book, but...for a born again Christian, David loses his temper a lot and shouts a lot. I would like for him to be a little more patient and act like a more godly husband. He seems to be an excellent father and always ends up being sorry and apologizing for his bad behavior. Aside from that, excellent story, great plot and good people throughout.
