The acclaimed husband-and-wife team set the tone for golden slumbers.
It's way past his bedtime, but Baby Bear is wide awake. Nobody, it seems, can come up with the right lullaby to soothe him. Not Granny Bear. Not Grandpa Bear. Not even Mama Bear. Luckily, Papa Bear instinctively knows just what "song" will do - and he takes Baby Bear on a moonlit river adventure, where a symphony of nocturnal noises soon sends his little cub floating off to sleep. With rhythmic text and luminous artwork, this book is a charming lullaby in its own right as it demonstrates with aplomb that sometimes fathers really do know best.

Very sweet children's book Baby bear could not go to sleep Granny Bear, Grandpa Bear & Mama Bear tried then Papa Bear took him outside on a roll-boat and then baby bear fell asleep.
Landon loves this book. He loves music though and I sing a tune for all the songs in the book. So he really enjoys that. The mama bear's song is very fitting. It says: I am your mama, up since dawn, how I wish that you would yawn.... I thought that line is very fitting. I feel that way most evenings!
Papa's Song is a bedtime story I sometimes read to my class before nap-time. I read it because it's short and sort of soothing, though there are song parts that I certainly don't sing. I sort of hate read-aloud books that contain parts the characters "sing." I either have to make up a tune and mangle it with my voice or ignore the instruction, which is sometimes commented upon by children.
This book's illustrations are fantastic. The story is one that all parents have been through, a baby that doesn't want to sleep. No matter who tries to get Baby Bear to sleep he just doesn't want to fall asleep. But Papa Bear knows the write song to get his Baby Bear to sleep. This story will sure to delight children of all ages.
